PDF Export Results In Extra Pages.

Jul 20, 2007

I am experiencing some quirks when exporting to PDF.
I have read all the other posts about page sizes, margins, etc and my situation seems to be a bit different.

PageWidth = 21cm
PageHeight = 29.7cm
Margins = 1cm

Body.Width = 19cm

I have a report that contains a bar chart (Height = 15cm, Width = 19cm) and below that a rectangle that contains two text boxes with totals information (Left = 11.6cm, Width = 7.4cm, Height 0.5cm)

Now most of the time it exports to PDF perfectly - all on one page as would be expected

If however the chart has more than say 20 items on the y-axis then the rectangle gets pushed onto an new page.

For extra information, but not to confuse the issue I also have a page header and footer that have items lined up right to the edge (left + width = 19cm) and they all display fine on the one page. It is just this rectangle that is having the problem.

When I move the rectangle to the left a bit (11.4cm) so 0.2cm away from the right hand edge then it works fine.

It is just very strange because I cant see how it is getting shifted only when the chart contains a lot of items.

Any ideas?

I have a set of results based on a query that displays a learner, their workplace assessor and both their email addresses.

I want to send a standard request email (using db_mail) to each learner's email address which specifies who their individual assessor is and their current employer. One per learner.
I then want to email each assessor and in this email detail their learners (and their employer details) that I have emailed the request too.

Pages Results On Full-text Query - Sql Help Please

Mar 30, 2008

 Hi -  I am trying to add paging to my stored procedure. The stored procedure successfully executes a full-text search. Unfortunately, the paging routine below the full-text search operates on the articles table after the search has been conducted. This means that it utilizes the row numbers from the entire table rather than the row numbers from the result set. I somehow need to the paging routine starting at "WITH tempArticles AS" to operate on the search results rather than the articles table. I am too new to SQL and can't figure out how to populate a temporary table storing text search results to use in this paging routine. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks! Peter   dbo.Search_Articles        @searchText varchar(150),    @PageSize int,    @PageNumber int        AS         Declare @RowStart int     Declare @RowEnd int         if @PageNumber > 0     Begin         SET @PageNumber = @PageNumber -1;     SET @RowStart = @PageSize * @PageNumber + 1;     SET @RowEnd = @RowStart + @PageSize - 1 ;     CREATE TABLE #results (ArticleID int)    INSERT INTO #results        SELECT ArticleID     FROM articles    WHERE CONTAINS(Description, @searchText) OR CONTAINS(Title, @searchText)    UNION    SELECT ArticleID     FROM article_pages    WHERE CONTAINS(Text, @searchText)    /*this returns all matching records from the text search*/    SELECT *    FROM articles, #results    WHERE #results.ArticleID=articles.ArticleID;                     WITH tempArticles AS    ( SELECT Title,      PostDate,      UserID,      City,      Country,      Tags,      StoryID,      Approved,        ROW_NUMBER() OVER (order by PostDate) as RowNumber        FROM articles WHERE Approved = 1)           SELECT *    FROM tempArticles     WHERE RowNumber >= @RowStart and RowNumber <= @RowEnd;              END

MS Access- TOP / Offset? I Need To Order Results As Pages

Feb 18, 2005

Hi,

Sorry I have to post this here, but its sort of related to MS SQL anyway

I'm running a PHP system with MS Access. I need to order results in pages. (For those who are familiar with MySqL and Postgresql - I need the equivalent to LIMIT/OFFSET in MS Access).

I know I can "SELECT TOP 50" in my sql - so that solves the number of results per page.
But what about page 2,3,4..etc.... how do I select results from an offset?

There doesnt seem to be a solution for it

Thanks!

Spreading SELECT Query Results Over Multiple Pages

Dec 20, 2006

Hello.Lets say that there is a table with N rows. now, i want to display the table's data on a web page. one way is to select the whole table and add each row's data to the webpage (something like SELECT * FROM TABLE1).going this way will create a huge page. i want to speared the results over multiple pages - excatly as this forum spread each forum messages over multiple pages.
for this purpose, i need to query Y rows each time, for example, if my table has 20 rows, and say that i want that each page will display 5 rows, then i need to query 5 rows each time. the first 5 rows for the first page, the next 5 rows for the second page and so on...
is there any way to achieve it using an SQL query?
the simplest way is to select the whole table and manaually filter the results. but this way will become slow as the table grows with data... and i dont want to select rows which i wont display anyway.
any suggestions?
Thanks.

Why Clean Data Pages Written To L2 Cache To Make Space For Other Not Modified Pages

Oct 2, 2014

in microsoft doc there is written on the topic of BP Extensions with SSD's in SQL Server 2014: only clean pages are written to disk... does this mean data pages that have not been modified yet? or also those data pages that have already been modified, and where log has finished writing and the transaction has been marked as commited??

why are there clean data pages being written to L2 cache to make space for other not modified pages? I mean, shoudnt they be modified first, before letting other unmodified data pages into the Cache? I mean they have still to be modified..that makes no sense to me to page them out and page them in again just for other data pages...

Export Sql Results In XML

May 20, 2008

Hi,
Based on the "SQL Book Server Online" from MSSQL 2000 I wrote the following codes in order to export the search results in XML format.
se pubsselect  1 as tag, null as parent, stor_id as [store!1!stor_id], stor_name as [store!1!stor_name], null as [Order!2!Ord_Num], null as [Order!2!ord_date] from storesunion allselect 2 as tag, 1 as parent, sa.stor_id, null, sa.ord_num,  sa.ord_datefrom sales sajoin stores ston sa.stor_id = sa.stor_idorder by [store!1!stor_id], [Order!2!Ord_Num]for xml explicit
The problem is that I want to results to be something like:
<stores>   <store>      <stor_id>6380</stor_id>      <stor_name>Eric the Read Books </stor_name>      <order>         <ord_num>A2976</ord_num>         <ord_date>1994-09-14 00:00:00.000</ord_date>      </order>      <order>          <ord_num>722a</order_num>          <ord_date>1994-09-13 00:00:00.000</ord_date>       </order>   </store>   <store>      <stor_id>7066</stor_id>      <stor_name>Barnum's</stor_name>      <order>         <ord_num>6871</ord_num>         <ord_date>1993-05-24 00:00:00.000</ord_date>      </order>      <order>         <ord_num>QA7442.3</ord_num>         <ord_date>1994-09-13 00:00:00.000</ord_date>       </order>   </store></stores>
How can I get the results in this format?
And, also, how can I export them directly into an xml file and save it on the disk?
Thank you in advance for your answers.

Export Procedure Results To Excel Dynamically

May 16, 2007

Hi,

I am trying to create a DTS package that uses a sql stored procedure to generate a set of results and export those results to an excel spreadsheet on a server.

The trick is that the stored procedure accepts a parameter for Bank_Number (there are 10 of them). Therefore i was wondering if there was a way to somehow create the package to run the stored proc 10 times, each with a different bank number as the parameter and generate 10 different excel spreadsheets, one for each bank with it's results.

Can this be done using DTS or do i have to try another method?

thanks
scott

DTS Export To Excel (How To Format Results In Excel)

Nov 22, 2005

Hi All

I've been googling this for a while now and can't seem to find any elegant answers.

I'm looking for an automated way to present a FORMATED Excel Spreadsheet to the Customer from a stored procedure output.

Can anyone advise me the best method of doing this - should I / can I assign an Excel Template to the DTS Task output ?

His mind is set on Excel and the formatting is basic and easy to write in a Macro which I've done, but this requires human interaction to finish the task (Automated Run Once on opening etc).

In an ideal world an individual would send an email to the Server with two formated parameters (@FromDate & @ToDate) and would be emailed back a ready formatted S/Sheet. But I believe he would be willing to just select the relevant SpreadSheet for the Daily / Weekly / Monthly periods dumped.

Thanks

Extra Row Needed

Apr 14, 2006

Here is the basic sql I am trying to implement:

select classid, count(*) as [COUNT], dtmready from unit
where rmpropid = '123' and classid = 'A1'
group by rmpropid, classid, dtmready
order by dtmready;

Here is my result set:

A1 3 2006-07-01 00:00:00.000
A1 10 2006-08-15 00:00:00.000
A1 11 2006-09-15 00:00:00.000
A1 10 2006-10-15 00:00:00.000
A1 10 2006-11-01 00:00:00.000
A1 10 2006-11-30 00:00:00.000

If you notice, the earliest dtmready is 7/1/2006. What I need is to return an additional row when the earliest dtmready is after today. The desired row would be:

A1 0 (today's date)

Background: I am running SQL Server 2000 SP4 and the results of the query are returned to a java program at a level where I do not have the ability to create a new row. So, it would be ideal if I could create the sql that returns a row with a dtmready of today with a count of 0.

Extra Word At The End Of Select

I have a strange SQL statement
Select * from TableName WH

Basicly I have a code that creates a Dynamic SQL statement
in this case I thought that I will get an error on the above statement but infact I did not
I tested it on the Enterprise Manager
and it works fine
I changed the WH to WHER it works as long as its not a reserved word
so if I put my name or what ever after that sql it still works
unless I use two words with a space between them it will give an error
on the second one not the first

Can anyone tell me why is that
I do not know if its a feature or what

DBCHECK: Extra Or Invalid Key
