View 10 Replies View RelatedMy PC is in the domain group of SQL Server 2005 Reporting Service, so I can publish the reports. After the reports were published, I can viw the reports from ASP.NET application on the web server, but everyone else was prompted for login. Only my login can view the reports. What can I do to let others to open the reports with the same web application? Thanks.

After publishing report on server and accessing it from URL its prompting for the USER ID and pAssword of Admin user of the server. Have tried to find the Virtual Directory of the Reporting server on IIS - which is not available. or unable to find the same. Apart from this have saved the Database credential in the report itself.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running asp.net on an XP machine with MSDE 2000 as the database. I want to create a user table with a userid and password. I have a second table that contains details about the user such as home address and phone number etc. When the user first signs up, I want their userid to go into the user table and the user detail table. In my SQL insert command, I can't get @userId to go into both tables. So my question is how do I get the userID to go into both tables or is there a better way of doing this altogether?
Thanks,
Tom
I'm about to start using Integration Services in Mgmt Studio 2005.
But, when I try to register a server for Integration Services,
the option for choosing between Windows authentication and SQL Server
authentication is greyed out, and it's set to Windows.
My domain user is automatically filled in, but greyed out. I can't enter
my password since this field is also greyed out.
Is this some installation problem? (Connection to a Database Engine works fine.)
I am designing wepage using Asp.net with Sql server as database. I have used Multiline textbox in which user has to enter their family detail. Like number of brother and sister family status, source of Earning for family.
But User do not have to enter his/her phone/contact number. For that I restricted the user to enter any nuberic digit through asp.net Regex. But User is too smart now they are entering his/her contact number in words.
Suppose somebody's Contact number is 533445928 as they can not enter numberic digit because of asp.net regex which allows the user to enter only alphabets. Now they are entering their contact number in words like five three three four four nine two eight seven. I would like to restrict the user to enter contact detail in words also.
Ideally, I'd like to have the reports use windows authentication, ie grab current user/password so long as user does not have to enter it manually. If that is not possible, then how do I make it so user does not have to enter this info manually? My theory is that I have IIS set up incorrectly for doing this, but I'm not familiar enough with either reporting services or IIS to find out.

How can I do this with Parameters? I can get a single parameter to filter for a single date (or even a combo list of the dates in DB). But I want my parameters to interact so that they specify a range. Is this possible?
Issue #1 I have a report that takes 8 character parameter, A error message needs to popped out if user enters parameter less than 8 character.
Issue #2 I have a report with Tablix. A message needs to display if Tablix returns no Rows.
I want to pull dates from my database that are between to set dates i have written a query that does this which looks like this:
"SELECT OCH_ID, empno, Selected_OCD, Start_Time, End_Time, Selected_OCDay, Selected_DOM, Selected_Month, Selected_Year FROM dbo.ICT_On_Call_Hours WHERE (CONVERT (datetime, LEFT (Selected_OCD, 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING(Selected_OCD, 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT (Selected_OCD, 4)) >= CONVERT (datetime, LEFT ('12/02/2007', 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING('12/02/2007', 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT ('12/02/2007', 4))) AND (CONVERT (datetime, LEFT (Selected_OCD, 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING(Selected_OCD, 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT (Selected_OCD, 4)) < CONVERT (datetime, LEFT ('14/02/2007', 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING('14/02/2007', 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT ('14/02/2007', 4)))"
This works when the dates are included in the statement but when i try and use parameters to pull them in like this:
"SELECT OCH_ID, empno, Selected_OCD, Start_Time, End_Time, Selected_OCDay, Selected_DOM, Selected_Month, Selected_Year FROM dbo.ICT_On_Call_Hours WHERE (CONVERT (datetime, LEFT (Selected_OCD, 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING(Selected_OCD, 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT (Selected_OCD, 4)) >= CONVERT (datetime, LEFT ('@Choice1', 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING('@Choice1', 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT ('@Choice1', 4))) AND (CONVERT (datetime, LEFT (Selected_OCD, 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING(Selected_OCD, 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT (Selected_OCD, 4)) < CONVERT (datetime, LEFT ('@Choice2', 2) + '/' + SUBSTRING('@Choice2', 4, 2) + '/' + RIGHT ('@Choice2', 4)))"
I then recieve the following error message why is this?
ERROR -------------------> Syntax error converting datetime from character string.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated thanks
Hi,
I am migrating few my oracle codes to T-SQL. Currently am using & (ampersand) interactive prompt of SQLPlus. Is there any equivalent for the above said in SQL Server.

I have 2 tasks. Both of them were set for EncryptSensitiveWithPassword. One of them prompts for the password when inporting to the server and again when the job is scheduled. it puts the DECRYPT statement in the config line. Everything works as it should.
The second task does not prompt for the password at any time. There is no DECRYPT statement added and the task fails to run.
WTF is going on????
A colleague of mine is having problems when trying to schedule package execution via a .bat file that executes a .dtsx on a sql server (not file system). The scheduling system that is employed by the company requires a .bat file to execute the package. The packages themselves move data from AS400 servers to SQL Servers. Occasionally (very randomly) when the scheduling system runs the statement in the bat files, the package prompts for password information (for connectivity).
We've tried a number of solutions to this, mostly on the "ProtectionLevel" property of the package itself. We did some research and it seems as though there are a few options. What is the best solution to eliminate this from happening? We certainly don't want to have people checking to make sure the packages don't prompt for passwords.
Thanks.
I posted this earlier but did not get a sufficient response.

I have deleted the task and recreated it. I have used dtutil and forced the password. In any case I CANNOT get the job scheduler to see a password is required and add the DECRYPT line, hence I can't execute the tasks.

Hi all can you help me please, I need the users to be able to enter in a date for a self generating report. Usually I use the @Enter_Date but I need them to be able to enter a start date and a end date
But when I run this query SQL gives me an error message Server: Msg 207, Level 16, State 3, Line 1
Invalid column name 'Enter the Start Date'.
Server: Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Invalid column name 'Enter the End Date'.
What should use in place of BETWEEN [Enter the Start Date] And [Enter the End Date]??
SELECT [Main Table].[IR Number], [Main Table].Date, [Main Table].Inspector, [Main Table].Area, [Main Table].Violation, [Main Table].[Violation Type], [Main Table].Loss, [Main Table].[Loss Type], [Main Table].Employee, [Main Table].Action, [Main Table].[Action Type], [Main Table].Notes
FROM [Main Table]
WHERE ((([Main Table].Date) Between [Enter the Start Date] And [Enter the End Date]))
ORDER BY [Main Table].[IR Number]
Hey all,
I know this is a very minor gripe, but I cannot find any way to get SQL Server Management Studio to stop prompting me to save queries. I've poked through all the options without success, but it doesn't seem possible that they would have left this out.
Am I out of luck?

I created a dataset based on a stored procedure. There are nine input parameters. When I click on the preview tab, it is asking me for ten input parameters.
I double checked my dataset on the data tab, and it only shows the expected nine parameters when I look at the parameters tab. I can also run the query without issue from the data tab.
I have no idea why it is asking for an extra parameter on the preview tab. It is a column name that does exist in my database, but is in no way used in the stored procedure in question.
Has anyone else run into a similar situation?
How do I replcae an 'enter' character with a space in a field? This extra spaces entered in the web form while populating the field is causing extra spaces in the field. What is the ASCII value for the 'enter' character? so that we can replace that with a space?
Thanks.

Hi,
I have two tables. Class & Faculty
"Class" table have column names ClassID, SchoolID and FacultyID(FacultyID column have just created therefore there is no data in the column)
"Faculty" table have column names FacultyID, SchoolID
In "class" table every SchoolID have 1 or 2 classID. Whereas in "Faculty" table every facultyID have more than 3 SchoolID.
Therefore when I update the table it only update the rows not entering new rows as per schoolID.
How can we add new rows in the class table according SchoolID,
Because I want to get data in the newly generated column FacultyID in "CLASS" table.
Thanks,
Navi

Hi i am trying to enter more than one value into my constructor field in my database, at the moment when the values are entered into the database through the front end, they appear in the database as seperate records however they have the same ID, the only thing that changes is are the data in the fields which i want in just one. This is the part of the stored procedure I am sure is causing this to happen;
IF @Access_Right_ID=8 or @Access_Right_ID=3 or @Access_Right_ID=9 BEGIN DECLARE @Delimiter char(1) SET @Delimiter = ',' DECLARE @CommaPos int SET @CommaPos = Charindex(@Delimiter,@Constructor_IDs) DECLARE @Remaining_Constructor_IDs VARCHAR(8000) SET @Remaining_Constructor_IDs = @Constructor_IDs DECLARE @Constructor_ID int WHILE (@CommaPos>=0) BEGIN
SET @CommaPos = Charindex(@Delimiter,@Remaining_Constructor_IDs) if @CommaPos >0 SET @Constructor_ID = ltrim(rtrim(Substring(@Remaining_Constructor_IDs,1,@CommaPos-1))) else SET @Constructor_ID = @Remaining_Constructor_IDs INSERT INTO tblUser_Constructor ( User_ID, Constructor_ID) VALUES (@User_ID, @Constructor_ID ) SET @Remaining_Constructor_IDs = SUBSTRING(@Remaining_Constructor_IDs,@CommaPos+1,LEN(@Remaining_Constructor_IDs)-@CommaPos) if @CommaPos=0 set @CommaPos = -1 END
(This is prob. a really dumb question but it's driving me mad!!...)
I am using the Debugger in SQL Query Analyzer & want to set the value of a datetime parameter prior to executing the stored proc. The "Debug procedure" window allows me to specify the parameter values - but I can't get it to accept a datetime. The language is us_english & I've tried most ways if specifying the date - 01/02/2004, with/out quotes, 02 Jan 2004, as a full datetime, swapping day/month values etc etc. The procedure always fails immediately with: Invalid character value for cast specification.
Thanks.
giving a use access to enter data into one database table.
I know Access is an option, but I was wondering if there was another, like MS Word or Adobe.
This is a SSMS database, 2008.
I want to, for each month of the year 2014 say, to create a loop that will enter data into a table.
Right now I have:
Select [Member Number],
sum(case when [Receipt Date]='2014/01/01' then Amount else 0 end) as [Rec 2014/01/01]
From [Receipts Table]
Group by [Member Number]
Insert into [Receipts 2014/01/01]
[Code] ....
Instead I would just like to do something like…
Declare i date
For i=2014/01/01 to 2014/12/01
Select [Member Number],
sum(case when [Receipt Date]=i then Amount else 0 end) as [Rec +i]
From [Receipts Table]
Group by [Member Number]
Insert into [Receipts + i]
Don’t know if this is at all possible?

I'm trying to connect to a database using my virtual machine, where I´m logged in as another user than the one that's granted acccess to the database. Can I enter the windows username and password used to connect to my SQL 2005 database, in Windows Authentication Mode?
Jakob
I'm copying some of my development databases over to a new server and have noticed that even when I enable the acct the original password will no longer work. I have to then reenter each pwd for every acct that is in the database. I'm on sql server 2005 and I'm using the Task >> Copy Database.
