Hello rooom,
I tried to execute SSIS package that created by a sql developer contractor.
There are several errors that i am not familiar with:
-Error at Get results to faw file [DTS Pipeline]: input column "" (221) has lineage ID 32 that was not previously used in the Data Flow task.
- Error at Get results to raw file [DTS.Pipeline]: "component "Raw File Destination" (208) failed validation and returned validation status "VS_NEEDSNEWMETADATA".
-Error at Get result to raw file (DTSipeline): One or more components failed validation.
(Microsoft Data TransformationServices VsIntegration).
Can someone guide me since I am consider myself a newbie to SSIS.

What's The Best Practice...1 Package Many Config Or Many Package W/1 Config

I'd like to know what's considered a best practice in the following scenario...
We're in the process of converting DTS to SSIS, our current SQL2K setup has one DTS package per database, each database and package are mirror images of each other, with the exception of connection properties and the files path's they pull from. (Occasionally there may be a one off Execute SQL Task that differs from package to package...but this will be handled in a different manner outside of the package from this point on)
From a administration perspective this has been somewhat cumbersome, as every time there is a schema change we need to update the transformations in each individual package...after updating 120 packages my index finger has a bad case of carpel tunnel!
My thought with SSIS is that I can create one package, with many configuration files (one for each database).
Now my question is, 1) is this a good idea? 2) Anytime we create a new database (New Customer = New Database) and need to create a new xml config file, do I have to create the config in BIS/SSIS package then redeploy the package?...or Can I simply add a new config file to the appropriate directory and reference this config in the scheduled job?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Cannot Connect To SQL Express - Machine.config Errors And More
Sep 2, 2007Hi all, ive got a problem creating a sql connection.
Lets start from the beginning. I open Visual Studio, create a new empty website and then go to add a new SQL Database (new item > SQL Database). It asks me if i want to put this into the App_Data folder (which i choose 'yes' to), and then this error comes up...
I then decided to try a website template i found that i know works (because i got it running on Visual Studio at work), and this error comes up when i try to build the site...#
Heres a snippet of my machine.config...
Sorry about all the screenshots but im new to sql connections etc. Its all works fine at work and i can add a new database connection etc, but on my Home machine (Vista Ultimate, Visual Studio 2005 Pro, SQL Express).
Im sure its something to do with the machine.config, but i dont know how to rebuild it.
Any help will be appreciated.

SQL Server Config Mgr - Errors, Doesn't Open

When clicking to open SQL SERVER CONFIGURATION MGR I recieve the following....
MMC cannot open the file C:WindowsSystem32SQLServerManager.msc
This may be because the file does not exist, (it does)
is not an MMC console,
or was created by a later version of MMC
This may also be because you do not have sufficient access rights to the file.
I am stumped. This worked the other day.

Parent Package Reports Failure On Errors, But No Errors In Log
Jul 31, 2006I have a parent package that calls child packages inside a For Each container. When I debug/run the parent package (from VS), I get the following error message: Warning: The Execution method succeeded, but the number of errors raised (3) reached the maximum allowed (1); resulting in failure. This occurs when the number of errors reaches the number specified in MaximumErrorCount. Change the MaximumErrorCount or fix the errors.
It appears to be failing while executing the child package. However, the logs (via the "progress" tab) for both the parent package and the child package show no errors other than the one listed above (and that shows in the parent package log). The child package appears to validate completely without error (all components are green and no error messages in the log). I turned on SSIS logging to a text file and see nothing in there either.
If I bump up the MaximumErrorCount in the parent package and in the Execute Package Task that calls the child package to 4 (to go one above the error count indicated in the message above), the whole thing executes sucessfully. I don't want to leave the Max Error Count set like this. Is there something I am missing? For example are there errors that do not get logged by default? I get some warnings, do a certain number of warnings equal an error?

How To Specify Config File For Package Within A Package
Jan 17, 2007I have a situation where I have Package A, which is called from Package B. Both packages have been designed to use config files for their connections, etc.
The issues arises when executing Package B. I can specify a config for Package B to use, but how do I tell the embedded package to use its correct config file?
By default, Package A has its config file pointed to development, but I would rather not have to save a special version of Package A that points to production.
I dont see any option within the execute package task.
Any ideas???
Several Different Errors When Creating And Running SSIS Package. Package Runs Successfuly Sometimes.

I am in the process of moving from a 32-bit SQL Server 2005 Enterprise (9.0.3054) to a 64-bit SQL Server 2005 Enterprise (9.0.3054 with 4 CPUs and 8GB of memory on Win 2003 SP2) and the process has been very frustrating to say the least. I am having a problem with packages that I created on my 64-bit SQL Server. I am importing a few tables from the 32-SQL Server into the 64-bit SQL Server using the Task --> Import to create the package.
Sometimes when I am creating a package I get the following error in a message box:
SQL Server Import and Export Wizard
The SSIS Runtime object could not be created. Verify that DTS.dll is available and registered. The wizard cannot continue and it will terminate.
Additional information: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. (System.Windows.Forms)
Other times when I run a package that has run successfully before I get the following error:
Faulting application dtexecui.exe, version 9.0.3042.0, stamp 45cd726d, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, stamp 00000000, debug? 0, fault address 0x025d23f0.
Other times I get this error message:
.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.1433 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (79FFEE24) (80131506)
And still other times
The package appears to hang when running. By this I mean that the Package Execution Progress shows progress up to a point then it just stops. (The package takes about 17 seconds to run normally) CPU usage is at 1% and the package cannot be stopped.
I have deleted and re-created the package several times and I have also re-installed the service pack on the SQL Server (9.0.3054) but that did not help.
Does anyone have any other suggestions to try?

Depployed Package And DTExec.exe.config ?

Hi all,
Here's is the situation :
I have a script component that uses the aspnet membership provider to create users from a csv file in an aspnetdb database. In my Business Intelligence Developpement Studio (BIDS) everything works well. I added the aspnet membership provider in DtsDebugHost.exe.config and when I run the package from the BIDS it does what it have to do.
The problems begin when I deploy the package in file system as well as in sql server. When I run it doesn't use the DTExec.exe.config to find where are added the membership provider.

When I run the package from SQL Server it should use the DTExec.exe.config as an app.config for my script component. But it doesn't use it at all and stop with an error that have nothing to do with that. I'm sure that it doesn't use because even when I have a wrong DTExec.exe.config it shows the same error.
If some one knows something about that it will be really great. I need to force my package when it's in stored packages to use one of the *.config as an app.config file.

Import Package W/Config File?
Oct 8, 2007I have manually imported my packages into SSIS (via StoredPackages/FileSystem/Import Package command). How can I utilize a ConfigFile with this package? I see that the ConfigFile can be selected when it is run (in dtexecUI ), but it doesn't "stick", and is only used for that particular run.
How can I point this manually imported package to the ConfigFile so everybody who runs it doesn't have to browse for the ConfigFile every time they run it?
Package Not Picking Up Latest Config File Changes

I've created a solution with 5 packages in. I've scripted a config file for each package where I would be able to change the source file connection and the database servers (source and destination). On the first package, I am able to change the config attributes and the affects are picked up, but the rest of the packages do no pick up the changes.
For example, if the source file is "C:Filessource.txt" and this is changed to "C:Filessource123.txt" (Just to make sure it fails) it wont pick up the new changes and still uses "C:Filessource.txt".
Also, I tried changing the name of config file itself and the package still ran as if nothing had changed. It's as if it's not recognising the config file.
Any ideas ?

Indirectly Config The Package But It Didn't Affected

I have built an SSIS package by using the BI Dev Studio and enabled its configuration xml file.
The package have a variable called TranDate and I want to put it dynamically from a Calendar on my website (just like assigning a variable).
I have successfully change the value of that variable in the configuration files (affected to the xml file).
Then I loaded the package and executed it (through my web). It's still get the old value (which I have assigned while creating the package).
I didn't understand that where else can the package get the value of that variable so it still get the old value (that value have never appeared in the xml configuration file anymore when I changed it).

Reading the error it appears that the issue is with a datatype mismatch with field "user2". It is coming in as a unicode string and being sent into a varchar field. But so are a whole bunch of other userX fields as well. So why is my package having an issue with this specific field. Moreoever the package was running fine until a few days ago and runs successfully in BIDS!
I first figured that the source has changed, as there was some work being performed on the source ERP system. The package had failed a month ago and when I updated the metadata I thought it fixed the problem.
I appreciate your assistance in helping me resolve this issue!
VS_NEEDSNEWMETADATA - SECURITY

I've made a SSIS-package in which I collect SQL-server metadata from different SQL-servers, all SQL2005, same edition.
This package works under the SQLagent account of 1 particular server.(all sql-servers have a different account under which sql-agent runs)
So there is 1 connection which must be changed to connect to the different SQL-servers.
The problem is that I receceive an error VS_NEEDSNEWMETADATA on the OLE-DB datasource which I use to connect to the different sql servers. The fact is that this happens on a stored procedure which is exactly the same on all servers.
So the metadata must be Equal.
The problem must be a security issue, because when I make the account under which the SSIS-package runs sysadmin on all the servers this package works fine.
=> I don't like it to let this account be sysadmin on all SQL-servers.
=> does anyone know which are the strict necessary rights which I must give to this account.

Mar 27, 2006I'm currently trying to convert over packages from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005. The biggest obstacle at the start has to do with converting my "Dynamic Properties" control. I use it to read an .ini file and load the user name and password to my connections. With 2000 it's nice and easy 1 file 3 lines. While trying to convert it I€™ve had nothing but problems. I've tried the Registry Entry but it forces everything into the Current User and I can't use that I need local machine. There is no documentation and I can't have a xml file with 1000 different username and password settings because 1 person has to update that file with the new passwords. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I am working on a project currently where we have many SSIS packages and we want to minimize the number of config files to be used. What I was thinking was using one master config file which will have Server/Database info which will be used by all the packages. Now the thing is there are multiple packages which are being executed from within a master package and I was wondering if this will be an issue. Is there anything else that I will have to keep in mind? Any help is appreciated.

While trying to build SSIS Package Project, the following error is thrown. I have added configuration file recently to fetch the dynamic values such as connection string, output path etc.
I tried manually cleaned up the debug folder and tried build but still the error occurs.

Recurring VS_NEEDSNEWMETADATA Error...whats Wrong?
Aug 11, 2007Hi guys, wonder if you could help.
Ok, basically, my SSIS flow gets data from different excel worksheets and puts in the db.
For some reason its being very incosistent. I fixed all the problems I was having but one component keeps coming up with the [ component "Excel Source" (1)" failed validation and returned validation status "VS_NEEDSNEWMETADATA" ] error.
So, I click on the component, it asks if i want to fix the metadata stuff, I say yes, it fixes it, I run the app, everything's cool.
The I run the app again and again it comes up with this f** error?
Is there anyway SSIS can't just ignore this metadata stuff??

What Errors Normally Should I Log For My SSIS Package?

that first "truncate the product table" then populate the table with new rows....if there is an error then i will invoke the send email task. However in the "truncate the product table" task, the sql i put "truncate dbo.product" instead of "truncate table dbo.product" but this error is not captured in the text file that I m going to send an email to the appropriate personnel.
Under logging, and when i go into "truncate product table" tasks , "Details", i saw "OnError", "OnWarning" and other error handlers...which should i tick in order for the text file to ONLY show errors I encounteered during the running of the SSIS package?
Package Load Errors
Aug 17, 2006I installed Sql Server Express Advanced today, and decided to install the toolkit as well. When I open Business Intelligence Development Studio, I get the "Package Load Failure" for the 'ReportDesignerPackage' and 'DataWarehouse VSIntegration layer' packages. I can't seem to find any recent clogs or forum responses that address this issue, and the older ones (most are from 2005) haven't solved the problem. Do I have to reinstall everything???

SSIS Package Hanging Without Errors?

I have a simple SSIS package I built to migrate data from a SQL db on one server to another SQL db on another server. All it does is: Execute SQL task to disable some triggers on the target table, Data Flow Task to pull the data from the source (a simple sql query) into the destination table (using OLEDB), then another Execute SQL task to re-enable the triggers.
This package ran fine several times during my testing. However, this morning it's not working anymore. When I run it and check its progress, the "Validation has started" is the only thing runs, then nothing else happens... no error messages, no timeouts, nothing in the output window besides "DTS.Pipeline: Validation phase is beginning".
The only thing that has changed is one change to a date in the where clause of my source query, so I'm baffled on why it no longer runs.
I'm pretty new to SSIS, so I could easily be missing something obvious here.
Anyone have any ideas on what's up, or who can point me in the right direction? I'm currently reading up on how to debug and add more comprehensive error handling, in hopes of finding a better description of the problem.

Errors Deploying An SSIS Package

I hope someone can help becuase this problem is issue us several headaches.
We are currently trying to deploy an SSIS package to a production server. The deployment goes fine, the package runs ok when executed manually. The issues start when we try and execute it under the SQL agent.
Having gone back to the drawing board and spent much of the day reading various articles and applying the various options (especially those within the MS KB article 918760), we are still no closer to a resolution.
The SSIS package was created under an Administrator, and the SQL agent runs under a different Domain Admin account.
When we set up the Schedule to read from SQL Server or the SSIS Store the standard "Executed as user: DOMAINUSERNAME. The package execution failed. The step failed" in the history.
We tried to create the package as a file access and now get "Package could not be found" even though you can browse to i in the schedule list. The Domain account as full access to the folder where the package resides.
Has anyone else come across this issue, or have a workable solution?

Aug 10, 2007I get errors when I check out an SSIS package from source control (both Source Safe and TFS) relating to the connection objects where I was not the original developer who checked it in. Is there a solution to this other than altering the connection loginpassword for every connection object in the package before deploying?

The package runs great when testing through vs.net on my client.
I've added the package to a job step in the sql server job agent.
When I test the new job, the package step fails, but there is no error or log information in the job history.
Wwhere can I get error information? And/or How can make SSIS error information more verbose in the job history?

Spurious Errors With Package Execution On Local Machine
Jan 5, 2007I am having strange errors with a package when running locally that has not been an issue before.
The main symtom is that several Data Flow Tasks are either not inserting records on the destination or are only inserting 1 single record before the package errors with the error shown below.
Strangely, the debugger will show X # of records from source and destination, but either no records are actually written or, again, in many cases, only 1 single record is written. This is very strange.
App, System and Security logs yield no indication of security or other errors. All I have to go on is the above anomolies and the error message provided below.
Below is the error message, can someone help me decrypt it?

Can SSIS Save The Context Of Errors At The Package Level?

Instead of re-directing rows at the data flow level and handling/logging the data at that level, is it possible to catch all of this information at the package level and handle/process it there?
If so how would you do this?

How To Capture Validation Errors Inside SSIS Package

I have created a package which executes every 10 mins. Last week end for maintenance purpose, I shutdown my database. Now as an initial execution process, my package does the default validation steps on which the database connection validation step fails. As this is the default functionality of SSIS I am not able to capture this error. Is there anyway to capture this error inside SSIS Package?

SQL 2012 :: Ignored Column In SSIS Package Throws Conversion Errors?
Dec 12, 2013 I have a data flow task in which I have a ADO NET source and OLE DB Destination. I have in the ADO NET source a sql command which pulls all the columns in a table. My requirement is to ignore a particular column,say column99. I opened advanced editor and deleted the mapping between the external and output columns for column99. I had also set the Error and Truncation to "Ignore Failure" for column99. I had also mapped the destination column to <Ignore> in OLD DB destination.
But this still throws the error-
Description: The ADO NET Source was unable to process the data. Field table-column99 missing an escape character for a quote.Unable to update PK WHERE clause.Error processing data batch.
How do I solve this?
