I am running a sql task which will pass table as object variable to the result set
I have a for each loop container which is used to loop for all the servers. I use two of the parameters to establish connection string in the for each loop task from the reasult set variables.
Now my next step is a data flow task (Data Reader Source) where i have to run a query but the table name and column names are dynamic and i dont see an option to call variables.
can someone tell me if this is possible (var1,var2,... are variables in the package scope)
I have created lastUpdatedDate variable on package level. I have run a sql task and store a date in that variable.
now i am trying to pass that variable as parameter to oledb source connection (using command). it seems that we cant pass parameter in any sub query or derived table in query. its only working in outer query as soon as we place ? in WHERE clause of inner query it start throwing an 'Syntax Error' error saying that connection provider might not support that.
any idea ?????
I dont want to use command variables as my query is going to be quite big.
Note : I have tried Sql Server Native and OLEDB provider for sql server and this behaviour is seems to be constant in both.
I am using a Ado Connection Manager to connect to a M S Access source.
But when I use this connection Manager in Data Reader Source, I am Not able to Configure Data reader Source. It gives exception "Cannot Acquire Managed Connection From Run Time Connection Manager".
[DTS.Pipeline] Error: "component "Excel Source" (1)" failed validation and returned validation status "VS_NEEDSNEWMETADATA".
and also this:
[Excel Source [1]] Warning: The external metadata column collection is out of synchronization with the data source columns. The column "Fiscal Week" needs to be updated in the external metadata column collection. The column "Fiscal Year" needs to be updated in the external metadata column collection. The column "1st level" needs to be added to the external metadata column collection. The column "2nd level" needs to be added to the external metadata column collection. The column "3rd level" needs to be added to the external metadata column collection. The "external metadata column "1st Level" (16745)" needs to be removed from the external metadata column collection. The "external metadata column "3rd Level" (16609)" needs to be removed from the external metadata column collection. The "external metadata column "2nd Level" (16272)" needs to be removed from the external metadata column collection.
I tried going data flow->excel connection->advanced editor for excel source-> input and output properties and tried to refresh the columns affected. It seems that somehow the 3 columns are not read in from the source file? ans alslo fiscal year, fiscal week is not set up up properly in my data destination? anyone faced such errors before?
A data reader is using a connection manager to connect to an ODBC System DSN . A query in the SqlCommand property is provided. Data is being truncated in the only string column . The data type in data reader output-->external columns shows as Unicode string [DT_WSTR] Length 7.
The truncated output in a text file is the first 3 characters from left to right . Changing the column order has no effect.
A linked server was created in SQL Server Management Studio to test the ODBC System DSN using the following:
Data returned using "OPENQUERY" does not truncate the string column indicating that the ODBC Driver returns data as expected with sql 2005, but not with the Data Reader.
How do I get columns to output when I have a data reader source? My connection is an ODBC and does complex sql. I am connection to a Netezza database and I would like to execute a very complex query, but in essence does
Create newtable as
(select day, sessionId)
from source
// lots of other joins and unions
select day, sessionId from newtable
drop newtable
I have an ODBC connection and I have a Datareader source, I cannot connect this source to my SQL Server destination because no output columns are available. What am I missing here?
Are there any good examples of this, taking data from a ODBC source into SQL server?
I am a business user trying to build an incremental ETL package with SSIS. I have a working prototype on SQL Server 2005 where I select the max(ID) from the last successful run and pass that value into a variable. Then, in my Data Flow step, I select an OLE DB source adapter and use this variable in a custom select statement.
Here's my challenge....the live data is actually in a Postgres DB so I have to use a Data Reader Source adapter. When I try to pass my variable to this adapter the job bombs out. Does anyone know how to dynamically update the query text inside a Data Reader source adapter using variables or otherwise?
I am having a very wierd issue regarding a DB2 sql query. I need to get data from Db2 and insert into our sql server database. Using data flow task, to get data I am using the data reader source. COnnection is ado.netodbc connection. THis sql query also has some comments in it.
The first wierd thing is...
1. On Development server, when I run this query manually, meaning using toad, winsql (connection to the db2 database), the query runs fine. Brings back approx 667 rows which is correct. ON the same server when I try to run this query, via a SSIS pkg, data flow task, using data reader source, gives me error on those comments that exist in that query. But if I run the same SSIS pkg on another server (Integration server). It runs fine. The same pkg also runs fine if I run it from my machine. SO What is different on my Dev server compared to the Integration server.
2. Say if I take those comments out from the sql query, then try to run the ssis pkg. The query is stuck at the first record and goes in an infinite loop mode. though my query is not a procedure, it is just a sql statement. But this ssis pkg with the query runs absolutly fine on the other server. I aslo tried using the other types of connection and ole db source but still the same problem on the Dev server.
What do I need to look for that is so different on the dev server compare to the INT server. I also checked the version on both these server for Visual Studio 2005(by going to About Microsoft Visual Studio), it is the same.
This is what I have on both the servers.... Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Designer Version 9.00.3042.00
i have a package in ssis that needs to deliver data from outside servers with odbc connection. i have desined the package with dataflow object that includes inside a datareader source. the data reader source connect via ado.net odbc connection to the ouside servers and makes a query like: select * from x where y=? and then i pass the data to my sql server. my question is like the following:
how do i config the datasource reader or the dataflow so it will recognize an input value to my above query? i.e for example:
select * from x where y=5 (5 is a global variable that i have inside the package). i did not see anywhere where can i do it.
In SSIS in Sql task we have option to pass parameter or variable..But in Data Flow Task when we use Data Reader Source using ADO.NET connection..There is no option to pass parameter or variable Or no option to receive a parameter or variable .
I am having a query were it need to pass a parameter.in sql task ...And Data Reader Source have to receive this parameter from sql task .
Sql Task finds a value of parameter and pass to DataReader Source in DataFlow Task .. ...
Please can any one help me to solve this problem of Receiving parameter or variable in DataReader Source using DAO.Net connection in DataFlow Task..thank you dilsa
Please can anyone tell me if or how I have to cross reference to a user defined variable from a script task in the SQL of a Data Reader Source?
The script task creates a variable for the last Sales Ledger Session. The SQL in the data reader source that updates the DW sales invoice lines file based upon those invoice lines where the session number is greater than the value from the script task.
The SQL command in the custom properties doesn't cross reference back to the variable.
If anyone can help or needs further detail to help please post a resonse.
I've read the various posts and articles regarding this matter, but I seem to have problems getting to work:
In my control flow, I start by declaring a variable named "LastJobLedgerEntryID", to identify the records I need to add to the stage. From there I would like to use this variable in the source component in my dataflow, i.e.:
"SELECT [Entry No_],[Job No_],[Posting Date],[Document No_],[Type],[No_],[Description],[Quantity],[Direct Unit Cost],[Unit Cost],[Unit Price],[Chargeable],[Job Posting Group],[Global Dimension 1 Code],[Global Dimension 2 Code],[Work Type Code] FROM mytable WHERE [Entry No_] > " + @[User::LastJobLedgerEntryID]
But this fails? I should note that the variable LastJobLedgerEntryID is stored as a int32, and with the default value of 0
I have a package that reads a table for a file path of a excel file. This gets passed to a variable and then this file is imported into a staging table for further transformation work. The issue i have is that file 1 may contain data in Column A which is 50 characters long in which case i have to import the excel as a DT_WSTR, do a data conversion to a DT_STR and load to the staging table. However file 2 may contain data in Column which is over 255 characters in which case it would import as a DT_NTEXT which i then transform to a DT_TEXT and then to a DT_STR. I used a fixed file path in the Excel Connection to start with which was for File 1 so the datatype for column 1 is a DT_WSTR. I then changed the excel connection to a filepath variable, put the path of file 2 in my table and called it from my package. It failed as the data exceeding 255 characters in column 1 needed to be a DT_NTEXT. I can change it and it works but if i then run the package using file 1 (less than 255 characters) it fails again as it wants it to be a DT_WSTR.
Is there anyway around this? Am i missing something as i would have thought that by setting it to DT_NTEXT this would cover data under 255 characters as well.
How can I pass a parameter used for the DataSet query? I'm using this DataSet file as data source of my .rdlc report for Windows Forms.
I've already done a .rdlc report to Web Forms where I passed the query parameter by ObjectDataSource.SelectParameters, but in Windows Forms this object was not created. I just hava the following created objects:
I am building a webapp that calls an SSRS instance to display a report based on another servers web service.I can make a call from the ssrs server using this in the RDL:
<Query> <Method Namespace="http://machine/webservices" Name="HelloUser"> Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â <Parameters> Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â <Parameter Name="user"> Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â <DefaultValue>Craig</DefaultValue> Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â </Parameter> Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â </Parameters> </Method> <ElementPath IgnoreNamespaces="true">*</ElementPath> </Query>
This works no problem. but.. I want to have the user parameter "Craig" be a parameter passed in from the web app. If it were a regular SQL data source you would put @user in the query. How do you do it with XML text queries?
I am attempting to pass report parameters to my query. My report's data source is a WCF web service. I can run normal queries fine, but I have found that without the know-how to pass parameters to my query I am limited with my capabilities.
Assume a string parameter named "Name" with a specified default value of "Jmachol90", how would I pass that into the following query at the designated place: Â Â <Query> Â Â Â Â Â Â <Method Namespace="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/masterdataservices/2009/09" Name="SecurityPrincipalsGetRequest"> Â Â Â Â Â Â <Parameters> Â Â Â Â Â Â <Parameter Name="Criteria" Type="XML"> <DefaultValue>
I am pretty new to this and hope someone can help and I hope I can explain my problem.
I have a php form
<form action="cpesearch.php"> State: <select name="stname"> <option value ="ALL">all states</option> <option value ="vic">VIC</option> <option value ="sa">SA</option>etc etc etc
I am then connecting to my datatbase, assign the variables and doing the SQL query.
if ($dbc = mysql_connect ('localhost','root','')) { if (@mysql_select_db('database')) { $sname = $_GET['stname']; $pname = $_GET['prname']; $sql = 'SELECT * FROM `cpe` WHERE eventdate >= CURDATE() AND state = ''.$sname.'' AND presenter = ''.$pname.'' ORDER BY eventdate ASC'; $r = mysql_query($sql) or die("Query failed".mysql_error($dbc)); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($r)) { print "<div id="mainContent"> <p>".$row['state']."</p>". "<p>".$row['eventdate']."</p>". "<p>".$row['eventtitle']."</p>". etc etc etc
So my problem is... I have an events table with presenters and state (and other info). I want to be able to select each presenter and state or all presenters and/or states. Not sure then how to pass the variable into my sql statement if they want to select ALL.
Hi, I have created a view. However this view needs a specific variable that a user has inputted in Access. The variable I need to pass into the first view is a DocketID..Similar to a StoreID. I then must run the second view, which also depends on the same DocketID. Finally I must run a final query that takes the result from the second view, which takes the results of the first view. Basically, I want to pass the variable from my VBA application to the SQL statement. I have been reading, and it seems that like in VB I must declare a local variable in a DECLARE statement. Is that right? How would I pass the variable that can be held in the VBA application ex. DocketId = 220 and pass that 220 to my SQL statement which is running is SQL 7.0. Most of the statement will be running in SQL, not the VBA application.
I am executing: -------------------------------- DECLARE @x AS int
SET @lcQuery = 'UPDATE ... WHERE .... ' + ' SET @x = @@ROWCOUNT' EXEC (@lcQuery)
PRINT @x -------------------------------- @x does NOT return a value, because it is "local" to the lcQuery execution. As a matter of fact, to execute it, I have to write:
SET @lcQuery = 'DECLARE @x AS int ' + 'UPDATE ... WHERE .... ' + 'SET @x = @@ROWCOUNT' EXEC (@lcQuery)
How can I pass the variable @x to the progam from within EXEC (@lcQuery)? How does EXEC (@lcQuery) execute? In a different space?
Does any one know how to pass variables to a stroed procedure within a trigger and does anyone know how to capture a value from a stored procedure and store that value in a variable all within a trigger.
If anybody could help me with this i would love to hear from you, at the moment this is driving me crazy?
now i have a stored procedure in SQL server 2000, which i need to pass some variables into (pretty straight forward so far!!) I am copying tables from one database to another and i what to be able to choose the spefic database i'm copying to, this is the basic's of my query!
Anyone,Is this possible?I am connecting to a TeraData server via MS SQL 8.0 using the OpenQuerystatement. I need to pass a list of ever-changing deal numbers Mylist of numbers are stored as a table on MS SQL.So what I want is thisSelect * from OpenQuery(TeraSrvr, "Select Col1, Col2, Col3[color=blue]>From Teradata_Table_1[/color]Where Deal_no in (Select Deal_no from SQLTable)")Now I know that wont work, but How can I pass 184 Deal Numbers from mySQL server to this query before it is sent to the Teradata server to bedone? Do I have to keep re-doing an in statement each month?Anyone can help?Doug
I have an SSIS package. In my control flow I have an Execute SQL Task and a data flow task. In my Execute SQL Task in the SQL Statement I have (select dbo.to_date(getdate()) as process_date) its a direct input with a result set. It gets Getdate as (processed_date) is declared. I have set no parameters, but I have set a Result Set. Also, I have set a global variable in the scope where I passes the date (processed_date)
In my Data Flow, I have an OLE DB data source with the following SQL statement in my SQL Command. I am trying to pass down the variable as the ? .
It works when I pass it only to: lr.processed_date = ?
But I get an error when I pass it down to the : and ? between cav.begin_date and cav.end_date
SELECT distinct acc.account_num,
FROM cust_version_slow cvs
inner join cust_acco_version cav on cus.cust_id = cav.cust_id
and ? between cav.begin_date and cav.end_date
inner join bia.dbo.acct acc on cav.acco_id = acc.acco_id
inner join bia.dbo.account_version_slow avs on acc.account_id = avs.account_id and ? between avs.begin_date and avs.end_date
inner join bia_org ('02','2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10') boh on cvs.branch_code = boh.branch_code
inner join accou_version_profit accM4 on acc.acco_id = accM4.acco_id and ? between accM4.begin_date and accM4.end_date
where
lr.processed_date = ?
I need to pass down the same variable (processed_date) which is ? in all the ? in red
In our project users log in and are assigned a GUID. The GUID is stored as a session variable that is used for filtering what a user sees on a page/report etc.
We have a report in which there are 2 parameters (Drop Downs).
Drop Down 1 lists the Entities a user can see (this is filtered by the GUID that is passed to the backend) and this works fine. Drop Down 2 lists the products a user can see within Entity (this is filtered by the same GUID and also the selected value from DDL1.)
Here€™s the dilemma, how to we pass 2 variables into DDL2, when one of the variables comes from DDL1, and the other is passed by the URL?
Hello. I need to store 2 values that i retrive from a databse into variables so i can check them towards what is typed into the textboxes for my login script iv built. How can i do this?1 string myConnectionString = @"Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=C:UsersalhoDocumentsIntrapointWebApp_DataIntrapoint.mdf;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True"; 2 3 SqlConnection myConnection = new SqlConnection(myConnectionString); 4 SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("SELECT [username], [password] FROM [company] WHERE (([username] = @username) AND ([password] = @password))"); 5 cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("username", TextBoxUsername.Text); 6 cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("password", TextBoxPassword.Text); 7 8 myConnection.Open(); 9 10 //how do i pass the values retrived into variables, like string usrname and string password? 11 12 myConnection.Close();
Similar to a previous thread, but not exactly. I have a batch file that takes two date parameters. I have a SQL script that gets the values I want and assigns them to variables, but I don`t know how to pass these to the batch.
I`m thinking of something like:
declare @myvar1 datetime, @myvar2 datetime
select @myvar1 = <some date value> select @myvar2 = <some date value>
This just errors out when it reaches the variables in the last line. If I move the variables inside the quotes, it passes them as literal text strings, not as the assigned datetime values.
Hi!! If I have declared a variable, such as char variable_name[x], and have assigned it a value, how do I go about passing this value to an SQL query such as: SELECT * FROM variable_name where my value replaces variable_name. Cheers, Marc
passing variables (values) from a form (MS Access Project) to a stored procedures in order to select records shouldn't be all that difficult. However after searching for hours and hours in various forums and discussions i'm still nowhere. I really hope someone can give me the missing hint.
OK All I whant to do is select data from the sql server via an access interface. the value entered into the access form by the user (for example the client name) should then be transferred to the stored procedure which will then return all the records of the chosen client.
The simple task of transferring this form value to the stored procedure is driving me crazy. Does anyone have an idea.
