In my report i have got 10 columns to disply out of which 8 are direct pull and rest two are calculated(count of column).
All the 8 columns are used as parameters. when i open the report all should take default values and report should be generated.This is done.
In BIDS this report is generated i 5 sec approx.
But when i view it in ReportViewer it takes 30 sec approx to display the same.
Table has maximum of 4000 records.
And two of the Parameters out of 8 have 4000 values.
Is there a scope to get the performance at par with BIDS environment.
I am currently using cascade parameters, in Manadgement Studio my filter queries takes about 1 sec to run, but in the report it takes forever for me to be able to choose them. Is there any way to optimize this?
We have reports that runs fine in our developing and test inviroment. But when I deployed to the production server so comes the problem when navigating reports with multiple pages. It works fine when reports loads for the first time or click the refresh button, it show the first page of the report. Then we get "An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) " when we try to go to next page or back to the previous page.
I have a masterpage that has no doctype, because I want to have a table with some fixed height TDs and some variable height TDs (this kind of table only seems to be possible in quirks mode, with no doctype). My problem is the SSRS web part, it has the web part title, but the actual report is not there! as soon as i put in the doctype, it renders normally.
Is there any way to have a reporting services web part render a report without a doctype?

Hi All, In my SSRS report. I have a report which has only one page. In preview it is showing as only 1 page but when I am printing the report. I am getting two printouts with the second page as a blank.. Please help me in printing the page that contains report. Intially I used a Page header, at that it used to print the blank page with a header only. Now as I removed the header it is printing the page without header i.e Blank Page.. We use windows NT authentication. We did not do any change on NT. The SQL Server daily schedule job usally stoped at 10:00AM, but today from the Window NT Task Manager, we can see that the SQL Server is still running untill now.
hi, I have settup up sql mail and did the following: 1. created an E-mail account and configured Out look by creating a pop3 mail profile. tested it by sending and receiving mail, that is ook 2. I Created one domain account for MSsqlserver and Sql Agent service. both services use same account and start automatically in the control panel-services 3. I used the profile that I created in outlook to test the sql mail but got an error: Error 22030 : A MAPI error ( error number:273) occurred: MapiLogon Ex Failed due to MAPI Error 273: MAPI Logon Failed
I really do not know what went wrong. I followed the steps from bol and still having a problem. Am I missing something.
I do have a valid email account I do have a valid domain account I tested outlook using the email account and it worked. so why sql server does not recognise MAPI.
My next question, How to configure MAPI in Sql server if what I did was wrong.

I have activated the Server-Requested Encryption by using the sql server network utility (Force Protocol Encryption). After this, I have stoped sql server service. But I can't start it at this moment. The error is: 19015: The encrypton is required but no available certificat has been found.

I ranthe same query and found that it ran in less than a second.I took a look at the query execution plan and I found that they we'rethe exact same in both cases.Then I took a look at the various index's, and again I found nodifferences in the table indices.If both databases are identical, I'm assumeing that the issue is relatedto some external hardware issue like: disk space, memory etc. Or couldit be OS software related issues, like service packs, SQL Serverconfiguations etc.Here's what I've done to rule out some obvious hardware issues on theprod server:1. Moved all extraneous files to a secondary harddrive to free up spaceon the primary harddrive. There is 55gb's of free space on the disk.2. Applied SQL Server SP4 service packs3. Defragmented the primary harddrive4. Hello, I am facing a huge problem in my sql server database using access as a front end.The main problem is trying to execute queries "views" ,since they reside on sql server now,and using variables or parameters in reports and forms to filter on this query. Ex. how can the following be implemented using the same query but in sql server? Is it possible to write SSRS 2008 reports to run on an existing SSRS 2005 server?
If yes, what do I need to do to be able to write SSRS 2008 reports on my developer PC that will run on the SQL 2005 Server (which also has SSRS 2005 installed on it)?
I installed Visual Studio 2008 beta on the development PC and it appears that it needs SSRS installed on it too. So I installed SQL 2008 SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) and SQL 2008 Workstation Components onto the developer PC. Next I run the SQL 2008 "Reporting Services Configuration" tool. When I click on the "Web Service URL" section it hangs indefinitely and I have to force it closed.
The developer PC is Windows Vista Business.
Any suggestions on making this work, or any other information that you can think of that would allow me to use Visual Studio 2008 and the SQL 2008 "Report Designer Preview" tool to develop SSRS reports that will run on the SQL 2005 SSRS server?

Hi, I am trying to make a backup of my database using Sql-DMO
When I do the backup on my server, my code runs fine. But when I backup from across the network from another computer, the database is saved on the server and not on the computer from where I am executing my application. How set SQLl-DMO to backup on the computer from where I am?

I've a bactch file that is ran by the user and it looks for files and if it doesnot exist it waits for it and when it exsits, through isql it truncates the table and bcp in the file. In bcp files the loginname used in isql has dbo rights to truncate the table and the batch file also has password. The user who runs the script can also view the batch file and can know the password, Is there any way I could rewrite it so that the user cann't view the password or other way like SQL DMO or DTS package

I've a table which has clustered index on one column and I tried to run begin transaction and then 2000 insert statements and then commit transaction, the transaction took 15 min and then it hung up the table, I could not access the table I had to stop the process, the only info I received was the table had 4517 locks, I've no clue how it got so many locks, there was db backup running as I had scheduled 15 min backup. could anyone help me that inside each open transaction how many insert statement is advisible and how many maximum locks does sql server works on a table and what could have gone wrong in my situation.
