Populating Sales Figures By Contract Length

Jan 9, 2014

Aim – Take the “One Month Figures”, look at the revenue start date, and calculate the sales by the “Contract Length”, broken down by the year in the “Revenue_State_Date”.

For Example

As the Revenue_State_Date starts on 01/01/2015, you have 12months of full trading in 2015, so you need to calculate 12 months of sales,

This needs to be spread out over the contract length

For eg
YearSales Months
2015£2,914,033.3312
2016£2,914,033.3312
2017£2,914,033.3312
2018£2,914,033.3312
2018£1,457,016.676
Total£13,113,150.0054

My query is

SELECT
[Total_Contract_Value__c] as TCV,
[Contract_Term__c] As Contract_Length,
[Revenue_Start_Date__c] as Revenue_State_Date,
[Total_Contract_Value__c]/[Contract_Term__c] as One_Month_Sales
FROM [FDMS].[Dan].[Raz_Reporting_LCS]
where ID = '006a0000015qcGsAAI'

Which produces following results

TCV £13,113,150.00
Contract_Length 54
Revenue_State_Date01/01/2015
One Month Figures £242,836.11

Alter Service &&<SVC1&&> (Add Contract &&<CONTRACT&&>) Does Not Really Work, Need Help

Aug 20, 2007

Hi,

Sure you can run

Create Service SVC1 ON QUEUE QUEUE1 (CONTRACT1);

alter service SVC1 (add contract CONTRACT2);

But You can only send message using contract1, when you try to send msg using contract2, it always say can not find CONTRACT "contract2".

The following query shows the contract is there.

select s.*,c.* from sys.service_contract_usages U

inner join sys.services S on S.service_id = U.service_id

inner join sys.service_contracts C on U.service_contract_id=C.service_contract_id

where S.name='SVC1'

declare @lMsg xml

declare @ConversationHandle uniqueidentifier

set @lMsg = '<test>testing</test>'

Begin Transaction

Begin Dialog @ConversationHandle

From Service SVC1

To Service 'SVC2'

On Contract contract1

WITH Encryption=off;

SEND

ON CONVERSATION @ConversationHandle

Message Type [type1]

Commit

The above works, but the following will not work.

declare @lMsg xml

declare @ConversationHandle uniqueidentifier

set @lMsg = '<test>testing</test>'

Begin Transaction

Begin Dialog @ConversationHandle

From Service SVC1

To Service 'SVC2'

On Contract CONTRACT2

WITH Encryption=off;

SEND

ON CONVERSATION @ConversationHandle

Message Type [type2]

(@lMsg)

Commit

Any idea ?

Thanks!

i am trying to find a way to link an 'initial' Sale ID of a product to 'future' Sale IDs of products that will trace back to the original Sale ID.For example, if I call the original sale , 'Sale ID #123',  how can i link future Sale ID's (child[ren]) and all future sales to the original Sale ID #123? Can I use a Surrogate Key or similar function?

Parent:Sale ID #123
Children: Sale ID # 456,

how I can link the original Sales ID (Parent) to Sale ID's (child[ren]) of future purchases currently existing and in the future going forward?

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Subtracting Figures Within A Query

Aug 27, 2014

I have a table CombinedSales script below (CreateCombSalesTable.sql) which contains the details of a sale.

A row in the table has two flags online/offline
SalesAmount is the financial amount,
online = 1 (online sales)
online = 0 (combined sales off and online).

The table also contains the product and the client etc.,

What I am trying to do is subtract onlinesales from combinedsales within the query or outside I don't mind, to return the result as (below)

HERE is HOW I want the results to appear

skuid(No column name) onlineClientName
200437215183.350Asda
20043716816.651Asda

I query the table using:

select skuid,SUM(SalesAmount),online,ClientName from t_CombinedSalesDetails
where ClientName ='Asda'
and SkuId = 200437
group by Skuid,Online,ClientName
order by skuid

THIS is what I get below the online = 0 is the total sales of this product.

skuid(No column name) onlineClientName
200437232000.000Asda
20043716816.651Asda

How I could achieve the required results

/****** Object: Table [dbo].[t_CombinedSalesDetails] Script Date: 27/08/2014 13:23:27 ******/
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
SET ANSI_PADDING ON

Power Pivot :: Calculate Sum Of Actual Sales Until Date And Forecast Sales After A Date?

Sep 30, 2015

I want to calculate the sum of actual sales until a date and forecast sales after a date.I am not sure what the best approach to this problem is, but I have tried my best with the following approach. Any better ways to solve this (using DAX).

I have created a parameter table that offers the last date of each month as possible choices to the user. I have tried to create a measure that sums actual sales up until this date.

SalesQuantityActual:=IF(HASONEVALUE(parLastActualMonth[Date]);CALCULATE(factSalesActual[Quantity];factSalesActual[Date]<=VALUES(parLastActualMonth[Date]));BLANK())

Unfortunately the measure above does not work.

In addition to the parameter table, I also have a normal date table.

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Procedure Parameter Length Declaration Less Than Column Length?

BlobColumn.GetBlobData() With Data Length &&> Integer Length (32767)

Mar 27, 2008

For those of you who would like to reference my exact issue, I'm dealing with the RSExecution SSIS package at the "Update Parameters" data flow task, at the Script Component.

The script tries to split parameter data into name and value. Unfortunately, I have several reports that are passing parameters that are very large. One example has over 65,000 characters all in the normal "&paramname=value&parm2=value..." format.

The code in the script works fine until it gets to one of these very large parameter sets. I have figured out what is causing the issue. Here's some code:

Dim paramBlob as Byte()
paramBlob = Row.BlobColumn.GetBlobData(0, Row.BlobColumn.Length)

The second parameter of the .GetBlobData function takes an INTEGER as its count! Therefore, no matter what kind of datatype I pass to the string that the script will later split, it will be limited to 32767 characters.

THIS IS A PROBLEM!!!

Does anyone know a workaround for this issue? I need all of the parameter data to be reported, and I would hate to have to skip over rows like this. Also, if I'm missing something, please fill me in!

Thanks for your help in advance,
LOSTlover

DBA Contract Without Local Admin Priveleges

Apr 30, 2007

O what a place to be I started this Contract as an (Interim) for a new DBA role, for an application support Company last month & all was going well. The User Application is run via Citrix against multiple Hosted Sybase ASA Databases. I introduced SQL 2005 with Reporting Services as a mixed Data Mart Remote Query via ODBC Linked Servers setup. Because they had never had a DBA before the Data I was able to pull from over thirty seperate databases into one and present via Reporting Services has blown them away. And then one day the Senior Support Analyst told me he had put the main most important Sybase Database on a completely seperate domain he had created(with no Trust between the two) , because he was unable to secure the existing domain against unauhorized remote internet intrusion & Viruses. (I never liked the idea that hosted customers were domainusers on the Corporate network) To add insult to injury he then told me to install & maintain another SQL Box on the new domain, OK so far. I logged into the supoposed new box via citrix & then remote desktop, and to my disbelief he had the desktop locked down - no access to control panel or anything - he asked me why i needed access - I told him - he asked me why I need to have reboot priveleges - I told him. So now he's installed 2005 himself in the vain hope I can work without Local Admin privelages or need to unlock the Desktop - he certainly won't give me Domain Admin. I Just cannot believe I'm unable to persuade him to Unlock the Desktop & have even threatened to walk out unless he lets me do my Job. He probably does'nt like me but there can be absolutely no question about my abilities or accessing data that i should'nt. He's basically read a Deny by Default article and expects me to start of as a user with a locked desktop and then request & justify escalating my security from there. Is this possible ? Good Grief :eek: Any ideas what I should do ? Thanks GW

CommandParameters.length Don't Match Parametervalues.length

Feb 24, 2008

I am trying to narrow down this problem.  Basically, I added 3 columns to my article table.  It holds the article id, article text, author and so on.  I tested my program before adding the additional field to the program.  The program works fine and I can add an article, and edit the same article even though it skips over the 3 new fields in the database.  It just puts nulls into those columns.So, now I have added one of the column names I added in the database to the code. I changed my businesslogic article.vb code and the addarticle.aspx, as well as the New article area in the addartivle.aspx.vb  page. The form now has an additional textbox field for the ShortDesc which is a short description of the article. This is the problem now:  The command parameters.length is 9 and there are 10 parameter values.  Right in the middle of the 10 values is the #4 value which I inserted into the code.  It says Nothing when I hover my mouse over the code after my program throws the exception in 17 below.  Why is  command parameters.length set to 9 instead of 10?  Why isn't it reading the information for value 4 like all the other values and placing it's value there and calculating 10 instead of 9? Where are these set in the program?  Sounds to me like they are hard coded in someplace and I need to change them to match everything else.  1 ' This method assigns an array of values to an array of SqlParameters.2 ' Parameters:3 ' -commandParameters - array of SqlParameters to be assigned values4 ' -array of objects holding the values to be assigned5 Private Overloads Shared Sub AssignParameterValues(ByVal commandParameters() As SqlParameter, ByVal parameterValues() As Object)6 7 Dim i As Integer8 Dim j As Integer9 10 If (commandParameters Is Nothing) AndAlso (parameterValues Is Nothing) Then11 ' Do nothing if we get no data12 Return13 End If14 15 ' We must have the same number of values as we pave parameters to put them in16 If commandParameters.Length <> parameterValues.Length Then17 Throw New ArgumentException("Parameter count does not match Parameter Value count.") 18 End If19 20 ' Value array21 j = commandParameters.Length - 122 For i = 0 To j23 ' If the current array value derives from IDbDataParameter, then assign its Value property24 If TypeOf parameterValues(i) Is IDbDataParameter Then25 Dim paramInstance As IDbDataParameter = CType(parameterValues(i), IDbDataParameter)26 If (paramInstance.Value Is Nothing) Then27 commandParameters(i).Value = DBNull.Value28 Else29 commandParameters(i).Value = paramInstance.Value30 End If31 ElseIf (parameterValues(i) Is Nothing) Then32 commandParameters(i).Value = DBNull.Value33 Else34 commandParameters(i).Value = parameterValues(i)35 End If36 Next37 End Sub ' AssignParameterValues38 39 40 41

Calculate Contract Days In Financial Year

Feb 4, 2015

I have a table with 3 fields: Contract_No, Start_Date, End_Date. I need to calculate how many of the days between the Start and End dates fall within each financial year (FY) beginning 1st April and ending 31st March.

So for example if the Contract Start_Date is 26/01/2012 and the End_Date is 20/05/2012 or is null then the number of days for 2012 FY is 49 (counting from 01/04/2012 to 20/05/2012).

If the End_Date is null for the same contract, then the number of days for 2012 FY would be 365.

Since the contract period from Start_Date to End_Date might span more than one or even several FY I need to be able to show this in columns seperately for each FY. What is the best way of achieving this?

Contract And Queue Confusion If Named The Same Plus Positioning Issue.............

Nov 17, 2006

Hello,

The problem I was having regarding re-enable a queue was because it was in another database. I am guessing it did that because the contract and Queues have the same name. I double checked and nothing pointed to that database. I fixed it because I can re-enable the queue in the other database and it is fixed. My question is why did this happen? The other issue I am still having is regarding why the queue got disabled to begin with. I understand that it was because of positioning but do not understand how or why and how to provent it from being disabled.

Thanks,

Server Broker Contract Talking To Multiple Computers

Nov 16, 2006

Hello,

I solved the previous issue I had and now need to find out how to make it so I have Service Broker running on one machine and the services running on another machine. I mean you can set a connection string to post a message to the service broker but then it will need to respond and the connection string in the method called does not allow you to put a server in the connection string. The other issue is because the stored procedure calls the method in your code based on a namespace and then a method but does not specify a server. I am sure a way exists but am not familiar with it. This is the last piece of the architecture I need to work out before I finish designing the system.

Thanks,

Create Output Which Just Reflects Latest Conditions When Joining Back To Contract

Col 1 - PKContract TypeType ID

973301 711917 C32

A contract can many conditions so 1:M...Col 2 is the contract reference and the linking join to contract

Now - a condition related to an contract can have many re-trys and the causes the pk to increment. As you can see there are three conditions related to first attempt and then another three conditions.I want to create an ouput which just reflects the latest conditions when joining back to contract - Is this possible?I have requested to application providers to provide flag, but this will take some time...

Reporting Services :: Possible To Merge Group Header Cells Used As Toggles To Expand / Contract Detail?

- Group 2 G2Total G2Total G2Total
- Group 3 G3Total G3Total G3Total

I would like to save some space and render more like

- Group 3 G3Total G3Total G3Total
Detail DAmt DAmt DAmt

I haven't been able to find a way to have the first group cells overlap each other. Is there a way to do that and am I missing something obvious?

Calls Vs. Sales

Apr 25, 2005

Hi.
Im having a conceptual problem with tracking sales vs. call center calls.
Each record in the fact table represents a call to the call center.
In this record are various facts and foreign keys that map to marketing campaigns, etc.
The product sold ID is NULL on no sale, and filled in for a sale.
When creating MDX to retrieve data by campaign, for example, to track the number of calls for a campaign vs. its sales, that works fine (because theres a column labeled sale thats either 0 or 1 for the sale and I just sum it). This way I get the conversion percentage of calls to sales.

But when creating MDX to track the product sold, as soon as I do a crossjoin on campaign and products sold, for example, I lose the total calls- the number of calls is the same as the sales (similar results as a SQL join). Am I doing something wrong or is it conceptually impossible to track this type of metric down to the product when there are NULLs in the fact table? Ive tried converting the nulls to a NONE category, but that doesnt stop the crossjoin from not giving me the desired results, plus I then have to filter out NONE as a product.
Is that why a lot of sample warehouses have a separate sales cube?

Thank you,
Richard

2006-03 Top22 Barcode22

---- --- ----

TopNN is SUM(DollarAmount).

I created a table AAAA and use a while loop to insert the data into AAAA.

What I did is:

declare @StartDate and @EndDate, set @StartDate and @EndDate

Delete AAAA

Begin

While (@EndDate<GetDate())

Begin

Insert into AAAA(sales, Month, Barcode)

Select TOP 5 SUM(DollarAmount) AS sales,

LEFT(CONVERT(CHAR(8),DateSold,112),4)+'-'+RIGHT(LEFT(CONVERT(CHAR(8),DateSold,112),6),2) AS Month,

Barcode

from tblSales

where something

group by something

order by sales1 DESC

increase @StartDate and @EndDate by a month

End

Select * from AAAA

It works fine. My question is: Can I get rid of table AAAA?

How can I use T-SQL only to get the correct sets?

Thanks in advance.

Top 5% Of Sales For Each Salesman

Above says it. I'm trying to select a random 5% of sales for each salesman for the last day serviced. I've got it all down, but I can't get it down to salesman. I'm using a basic select:

name, address, order, order_id, etc where order_id in (select top 5 percent order_id from MYSERVER group by salesman, order_ID order by newid())

The actual statement's much longer and has more where statements, but the pertinent info is above. All I can manage to do is create very long-winded ways to pick a random 5% of all sales.

Populating Dropdownlist

But when I select a value the second dropdownlist won't be filled with all the data in the database. It is filled only with the correspondending value and not with the rest of the value. When someone changes his mind and want to select a value in the dropdownlist it can't be done. Any ideas??Default.aspx:<body>    <form id="form1" runat="server">    <div>        <asp:Label            ID="Label1"            runat="server"            Text="Botanische Naam: ">        </asp:Label>        <asp:DropDownList            ID="DDL1"            AutoPostBack="True"            runat="server"            OnSelectedIndexChanged="ChangeBotanicName"            DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1"            DataTextField="Botanische_Naam"            DataValueField="Botanische_Naam">        </asp:DropDownList>        <asp:SqlDataSource            ID="SqlDataSource1"            runat="server"            ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:BonsaiDataBaseConnectionString %>"            SelectCommand="SELECT [Botanische Naam] AS Botanische_Naam FROM [BonsaiSoorten]">        </asp:SqlDataSource>        <asp:sqldatasource           id="SqlDataSource2"           runat="server"           connectionstring="<%$ ConnectionStrings:BonsaiDataBaseConnectionString%>"           selectcommand="SELECT [Nederlandse Naam] AS Nederlandse_Naam FROM [BonsaiSoorten]WHERE [Botanische Naam] = @Title1">          <selectparameters>              <asp:controlparameter              name="Title1"              controlid="DDL1"              propertyname="SelectedValue"              />          </selectparameters>        </asp:sqldatasource>         <asp:Label            ID="Label2"            runat="server">Nederlandse Naam:</asp:Label>                <asp:DropDownList            ID="DDL2"            AutoPostBack="True"            runat="server"            OnSelectedIndexChanged="ChangeDutchName"            DataSourceID="SqlDataSource3"            DataTextField="Nederlandse_Naam"            DataValueField="Nederlandse_Naam">        </asp:DropDownList>        <asp:SqlDataSource            ID="SqlDataSource3"            runat="server"            ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:BonsaiDataBaseConnectionString %>"            SelectCommand="SELECT [Nederlandse Naam] AS Nederlandse_Naam FROM [BonsaiSoorten]">        </asp:SqlDataSource>        <asp:sqldatasource           id="SqlDataSource4"           runat="server"           connectionstring="<%$ ConnectionStrings:BonsaiDataBaseConnectionString%>"           selectcommand="SELECT [Botanische Naam] AS Botanische_Naam FROM [BonsaiSoorten]WHERE [Nederlandse Naam] = @Title2">          <selectparameters>              <asp:controlparameter              name="Title2"              controlid="DDL2"              propertyname="SelectedValue"              />          </selectparameters>        </asp:sqldatasource>     </div>    </form></body>Default.aspx.vb:Partial Class _Default    Inherits System.Web.UI.Page    Sub ChangeBotanicName(ByVal Sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)        DDL2.DataSourceID = "SqlDataSource2"    End Sub    Sub ChangeDutchName(ByVal Sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)        DDL1.DataSourceID = "SqlDataSource4"    End SubEnd Class

Aug 16, 2007

Hi Guys!!

I have a DataSet (which requires 2 parameters), and for some reason even though it works in Query Analyzer and on the Data Tab of VS2003 it will not work when I choose to Preview it. Can anybody shed some light on this behaviour?

If you need to see the dataSet I can post it up!
Thanks!

Need Help With SQL Statement - How To Group Sales?

Apr 12, 2004

Hi,

I currently have a table whose DDL is as follows:

CREATE TABLE [tblSales] (
[OrderID] [int]
[SaleDate] [smalldatetime] ,
[ProductCode] [nvarchar] (255) ,
[QtySold] [float] ,
[UnitPrice] [float] ,
[Discount] [float] ,
[GrossSaleAmount] NULL ,
[NetSaleAmount] [float]
)

The GrossSaleAmount and NetSaleAmount are calculated fields. But for this post, kindly ignore why I am storing calcuated fields...

QUESTION:
What I want to do is to populate another table (the DDL of which is give below) from tblSales in such a manner that the TOTAL sales from each product for each available
date is grouped/summed together.

CREATE TABLE [tbl_Product_Grouped_Sales] (
[SaleDate] [smalldatetime] ,
[ProductCode] [nvarchar] (255) ,
[TotalQtySold] [float] ,
[NetSaleAmt] [float]
)

Thanks in advance for your help.

Help: Query To Get Total Last 7 Day Sales For Each Day

Aug 5, 2004

Let say I have this table in MS SQL server
table transaction(date,sales)

how to query to get result like this (date,sales,sum(sales last 7 day))
I'm thinking about using self join, but it means I must have to self join 7 times to get the total sales for the last 7 day. Is there any better way to do this? or maybe special function within MS SQL server.

note: i'm not looking for total sales per week group by each week, but total last 7 day sales for each day

thanks
