Printed Report From Webserver Doesn't Match The PDF Export Print.
Apr 17, 2007
Hi there,
I got this weird problem and I was wondering whether anyone has an idea of how to resolve this.
I have a working report on the RS server, ran the report and tried to print it straight from the page by clicking on the Print button.
When it printed, it gave me additional pages as though the margins were incorrect. I have additional space on the left of the report, which pushes it out towards the right (very slight but noticable) which ended up printing "blank pages" ( basically only the page header). Moreover it didn't print any of the page footers ( which has the page numbers).
The weird part is that, I tried to export it to PDF format, and when I take a look at the pdf version, it looked fine with no formatting errors. Even printing the pdf works great.
I was wondering whether there was some bug with the RS Server or do I need to do somethin with the config file ? please advise. thanks !
Is it possible for me to pass some parameters to the ssrs server and the server create the report and spit it out on a specified printer?
I have a situation where I am very limited in regards to rendering and printing. So, if I could just give ssrs some commands and it do the rest, that would be awesome.
When I open the spreadsheet in Excel 2000, it works fine. When I try to print, it crashes Excel. In testing, I narrowed it down to the Header/Footer, because it also crashes when I go to Page Setup and click on the header/footer tab.
However, I can print the same spreasheet from Excel 2007.
Am I just dealing with a "you need to upgrade all your clients" situation, or is there a known issue with certian formatting that is passed out with reports that is not supported by older versions of Excel?
I am using Reporting Services 2005 SP2 to serve up the report that is exported to Excel.
I am using SQL 2005 reporting to produce reports for my employer. I have run into a problem with characters not printing properly after a report is generated. On a report of names, the last name "O'Neil" is being printed "O?Neil" (without the quotes) the ' is being replaced by a ? character. This problem only happens in one section of the report and not in other sections. The report looks correct (ie: The name is O'Neil) on a screen view and when exporting the data to Excel and as a pdf file both have the name "O'Neil" displayed properly.
I created a report with RS in VS.NEt and set the width and height to 8.5in by 11in from the property window. When I designed it , everything fit on one page nice and neat.
When printed it prints on two pages and the font size comes out much larger than expected. The whole document seems to have been blown up bigger and the right side of the document has been cut off. Why is this? Do I need to configure vs.net to print????
Am I missing some setting somewhere?
Other documents print out fine on this printer, so it is not the printer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you
this seems small but if I can't get the report to print out right then..........
I have developed some report in Sql Server Reporting services my Page orientation is portrait that is report height and width are 8.5 and 11 respectively and margins are set to 0.3 in when it is printed the pages are printed more that actually viewed Pages.
Right this has to be a Micro$oft mess-up surely...?I'm running SQL 2k standard with SP3. I have a table which I'm tryingto query using a LIKE operator on a varchar field as follows....WHERE dbo.tbl_pm_projects.SeniorManagerID LIKE '%'....In actual fact the % is passed in by the application when the userselects "All managers" from the drop down list used to select theManager to filter by. If they select a manager's name from the listit becomes LIKE 'ajames' or whatever.BUT - the table currently contains 2972 records. If I take out theWHERE clause the SELECT returns all records - fine - but if I put thewhere clause in it returns only 1682!! I thought the % was meant tomatch, and I quote the SQL server Books Online files here; "Any stringof zero or more characters." Anyone explain to me whats going onhere?TIANiall
When examining the "conversation_handle" column value in the Queue (from: "select * from ProcessQueue"), I find the value of the conversation_handle appears to be different from the "conversation handle" ("SEND ON CONVERSATION @conversationHandle...") on which the message was sent.
I'm trying to gather all messages for a given Dialog conversation, but am not able to do this because the conversation_handle doesn't appear consistent between messages in the Dialog.
note: the conversation_handle of "BEGIN CONVERSATION TIMER (@conversationHandle)..." message does appear to be correct in the Queue.
Thoughts on why the conversation_handle listed in the Queue might be different than that of the "SEND ON CONVERSATION @conversationHandle..." command that sends the message?
-- Begin Dialog from Service1 to Service2 on Contract BEGIN DIALOG @conversationHandle FROM SERVICE ExecuteProcess TO SERVICE 'ExecuteProcess' ON CONTRACT Process;
--- --- FROM DEBUGGER: @conversationHandle has value of AC8DF4E0-9F38-DB11-96A2-000CF1D46448 ---
-- Set Message value DECLARE @requestDocument xml SET @requestDocument = N'<ProcessRequestMessage/>';
-- Start Converstation time BEGIN CONVERSATION TIMER (@conversationHandle) TIMEOUT = @queueSeconds;
-- Send Message SEND ON CONVERSATION @conversationHandle MESSAGE TYPE ProcessRequest (@requestDocument);
Ok, so I have a report that is generating product labels on a standard mailing lable sheet (30 of them on a 8.5X11 sheet of stock). The whole process works just fine even the printing of the bar codes when I am printing the lables from VS2005's Preview function. However, when I moved the report to our reports server and run the same report, the barcodes don't print out. I have checked, and the barcode font has been installed on the server.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! - Eric-
If I just use a simple select statement, I find that I have 8286 records within a specified date range.
If I use the select statement to pull records that were created from 5pm and later and then add it to another select statement with records created before 5pm, I get a different count: 7521 + 756 = 8277
Is there something I am doing incorrectly in the following sql?
DECLARE @startdate date = '03-06-2015' DECLARE @enddate date = '10-31-2015' DECLARE @afterTime time = '17:00' SELECT General_Count = (SELECT COUNT(*) as General FROM Unidata.CrumsTicket ct
I have a report which I can print on legal paper, once I choose the landscape settings on print menu. When the same report is set to export to a file share in pdf format, it renders in portrait format. Is it possible to have the pdf document look like the landscape view so that the user can just hit print.
Is it possible to suppress the output of certain report elements when the report is printed or exported? I want a particular image element that has a hyperlink to be visible when the report is viewed within RS's ReportViewer, but don't want it to show up on the printed or exported file. I figure, if this is even possible, the most obvious methods would be either:
1. Put the element in the page header or footer, then set up the page header or footer to not show up on the printed or exported report.
2. Put the element anywhere on the report, and set it to hidden when the report is printed or exported.
Are either of these possible? If not, is there another way to accomplish this?
I'm wondering how to print a SSRS report without bringing up a report viewer. Is there way to print(PDF format) the SSRS report in the web application( .net ) directly from the "print" button without bringing up a report viewer?
I have a user that says that after she installed the ActiveX control for printing, that she can no longer export the reports. Has this happened to anyone else? What settings do I need to check on her machine to fix this problem?
Hi, I dont know if theres a way to print a section of some report, for example a summary report, where I have several charts and tables, and I want to print just the first 2 charts Could this be done by mapping the document or separating it in some other way?
I tried using 'SubReports' control, but this way I need to have for example the first two charts in a different report (lets say 2charts.rdl), and then in the summary.rdl, add the control and set the link to 2charts.rdl,.... but I think this is pretty annoying considering the future modifications of the format in the 2charts.rdl...
Hi, This is because there are many columns need to display ,when users export to excel ,now they have to manually adjust the worksheet as one page . Therefore,as the title,can anyone help me?
I am using dtswizard to export my db but it doesn't export triggers and all stored procedures. Am I doing anything wrong or is there a better way to do an exact copy of my DB? I am not able to use backup/restore because my db is on a server to which I don't have admin-right, and I have to pay my hoster to create a backup and email me. TIAThomas

I am looking for a way to, at execution, have 1 single report either print in "letter" or "A4" depending on a parameter I send it... anyone have an idea on where to start on this?
we have a vb app that displays reports yet when you try and print the report it either doesn't do so (although it appears to queue it) or it prints but with info missing and control info in odd spots. Anyone have any clues as to how to resolve this? My reports do me no good if the developers can't make the apps access them via the applications they are developing.
