Transact SQL :: Printing Report - Capture Actual Pages In A Duplex Printing Job
Aug 10, 2015So I have been asked by our sustainability person to create report from our printing data that actually shows the number of pieces of paper used. This is easy enough for single-sided printing, but when printing in duplex the software does not take into account that 3 printing pages actually equates to 2 pieces of paper. I know this sounds simple, but say I have a print job record that looks like this:
Submitted printed total_pages duplex
8/10/2015 8/10/2015 42 1
This is a print jobs that if done correctly is actually 21 pages( duplex printing). If the job is say total_pages =5 I cant just divide by 2 because its actually using 3 pieces of paper ( yes they are wanting this data don't ask why). How can I adjust some sql to accurately depict 5 pages, front and back, as 3 pieces of paper?
Landscape Printing From Report Manager Not Printing All Displayed Columns On Each Page
May 3, 2007I have deployed a report that is configured for landscape printing. It does print in landscape, however, only the first seven columns appear on the first page and the other five columns appear on the next page. Is there a method, like in print preview setup in MS Excel, where we can scale down the print (like to 80%) so all columns appear on each page?

Problem With Label Printing When Deployed In Reporting Server

Hi Guys,
I am having a unique problem with the Reporting server. We are using SQL Server 2005 and we have a dedicated server for reports. I created a report for creating labels and it is workinf fine in my development environment (running it through Visual Studio) but goes way off while printing it from the reporting server. I wanted to check the rdl files in the server in which I deployed but could not find it. I would really appreciate if you can give me a solution by which label printing could be done without any problem in the server.

When I run the SSIS package from VS2013 it executes and the report is printed, however when I deploy it to the SQL server as an agent job, the package executes, but the report is not pronted.
Suppress Report Printing If No Rows Retrieved From Database Server

In Crystal Reports, you could suppress the printing of a report if no rows were retrieved from the database server (ie: zero pages would be sent to the printer). This was done by opening the Report Properties dialog in the report designer and setting the "Suppress Printing if No Records" to true.
Is there a way I can reproduce this behavior in SQL 2005 Reports?

I have developed some report in Sql Server Reporting services my Page orientation is portrait that is report height and width are 8.5 and 11 respectively and margins are set to 0.3 in when it is printed the pages are printed more that actually viewed Pages.

Reporting Services :: Adding (new) Child Domain Users To SSRS As System Users?
Jul 28, 2015We have an existing SSRS server, and have just created a new child domain. We'll be migrating users from the parent to the child, and want to add the users of that new domain with access to SSRS. In the parent domain they are able to access, but after migration with the child domain account, they cannot.
I have added the group CHILDDomain Users with a system user role on SSRS, and PARENTDomain Users was already there.
Is there any additional step I should/could take to get this active?
Why Out Of The Blue Would VPN Users Be Unable To Connect To Database And Local Users Are Unaffected?
Mar 6, 2008I have had this issue just pop up. I have local users who can connect fine, but my users that require connection by VPN cannot connect. I get the server not available or access denied error. I did confirm that the VPN'ers are connected to the network correctly and can see that their shares and mappings are correct. Any ideas? now the problem is: how can i make a stored procedure that makes a restriction to the fk_country depending on the submitted fk_country parameter?it should be something like

users there. When we expand "Security --> logins" we see the same users there.

I am new to this forum, and ASP .NET 2.0. I watched the tutorial on how to use the login control with SQL Server 2005 Express, and was able to duplicate it easily. However, I tried to see if I could do the same thing with SQL Server 2005 that is hosted by my hosting company, and I was unable to get it to work. I am using Visual Web Developer 2005 Express, at least until I get VS 2005 in a few weeks, and I am able to connect to the SQL Server. I tried following the tutorial on this site step by step, and some of the things they used to set it up I could not use. In the tutorial VWD creates the table automatically. If I use the hosted database, do I need to create the table, or is there a way for VWD to do it that I haven't figured out yet.
Any help and additional information that I might need to know would be great.

When conecting to a MS SQL Server 2005, I could define in my connection string Windows Authentication.
What account it will be used? The one used by IIS (I still don't know the user ASP.net runs, if it is independent of IIS or not)?
And if I whant that some aspx pages have diferente acess rights? I need to use SQL Server Authentication with diferent users created in MS SQL Server right?
In ASP.net, what is best practice: Have one SQL account, and make users access rights in Business Logic, or have different SQL Accounts por the diferent access rights I whant in every page?
Sorry if this are basic questions, but In the find's I made, I saw very confusion ideas.

SP To Get Server Users
Sep 10, 2007I am looking for the stored proceedure to get all of the users and their rights on a server. I have tried sp_helpuser and this isn't giving me all of the users on the server, just per database, it doesn't tell me the username if the user isn't assigned to a database (for instance SA) I don't think. Also, sp_helprotect gives me way too much data. What I am looking for is a listing of all of the users on the server with their DB level permissions, e.g. datareader, datawriter, dbo. I need this to work on both SQL Server 2000 and 2005 and thus the desired use of a stored proceedure.

Moving Users From One Server To Another Help
Feb 6, 2001We are about to migrate SQL 7 databases from one SQL7 server to another SQL7 server, but we've run into an issue with transferring users/logins/passwords.
The problem is that one server is case-sensitive, and the other is not case-sensitive. This causes each server to encrypt passwords differently from the other.
Has anyone else experienced this before? Is there a workaround? Microsoft acknowledges this as an issue with SQL 7 (with case-sensitive to case-insensitive transfers), but offers no workaround.

i ave transfered all the users from one of my sql server to another sql server but what the problem is that all the users that are on new sql server having a NULL password.....
so that means that when u transfer users from one sql servers to another the passwords will be remain as null for all users......
or any sql server patch is required for that.....

Migrating Users To New Server

I've got to move a database to a new server and I'm trying to use Gregory A Larsen's sp_help_revlogin script http://www.databasejournal.com/features/mssql/article.php/2228611.
It works perfectly for all users, but I want to limit it to one database by using his suggestion shown on that page:
SELECT sid, name, xstatus, password FROM master..sysxlogins
Your_db..sysusers b on a.sid = b.sid
WHERE srvid IS NULL AND name <> 'sa'
However, when I make the changes, so it looks like this:
SELECT sid, name, xstatus, password FROM master..sysxlogins a join
int_test..sysusers b on a.sid = b.sid
WHERE srvid IS NULL AND name <> 'sa'
I get this error when I try to run it:

I am relatively new to this platform and am trying to update a table of user information and passwords through a series of SQL commands. We import a new file of users every two hours and I would like to have three SQL statements:
- One to add new users not currently in Users table
- One to delete users no longer in our source file
- One to update every field (but one or two) for already existing users.
Any help on creating the SQL (as well as where to store it and how to automate it) is greatly appreciated!

Do I need to create some other database in-between users & the original database? Users can't program & want access to all data.management doesn't want to create a replication of the database.
