Hi,
I m using SQL Server 2000's 120 days evaluation copy for testing my application. The prob i am facing is that whenever the rows in one of the table increses beyond 10K it gets cleared up.
I could not trace the reason for this. Plz some one suggest a possible solution for the same.
I can't deploy reports on Visual Studio2005 anymore. I say "anymore", because a few months ago, this went well. After building correctly, VS Studio asks for a Login for Reporting Services via a popup window. I don't know what to enter... In IIS ( version 5.1) , I configured Reports and ReportServer for integrated Windows Authentication. In Reporting Services Configuration, I have the Windows Security set on Windows Account, with a username and password that I also use (withoud success) to deploy the reports from Visual Studio. Since the user is a domain user, I tried as login also the complete domain name : domainusername. Nothing helps, the popup "Login for Reporting Servies" appears again and again. If I change the settings in IIS to allow for anonymous access ( machinenameIUSR_machinename), I get the error message that the permissions granted to that user are insufficient. I also changed the Windows Service Identity into "Local System" and "Local Service"; with the same result. In the Log file of Reporting Services, I also find following phrase : "ReportingServicesService!resourceutilities...INFO: Evaluation copy:0 days left" I don't know of there is a link between this and my problems Can anyone help me in this ?
Our front-end GUI person changed the system date one month back to avoid the expiration of the Servelet Exec software. After rebooting the system, MSSQL refuses to come up and the errorlog has the following message: "The evaluation period has expired". The version we had was never an evaluation version!
What's making it think that and is there a way to correct the situation?
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I've downloaded the enterprise evaluation copy of sql server 2005, patched it to sp2. I've fired up visual studio 2005 and opened a connection to my local database okay, (I've used windows authenication - though I'm not sure how to check whether I've got SA rights..).
When I open a stored procedure up, the breakpoints options are greyed out.
When I look in control panel/add programs, the version of Visual Studio is "Premier Partner Edition - ENU", if I look in the about of vs: it has installed products of sql server analysis services, integration services and reporting services
Looking on the web it says that I need visual studio 2005 professional to be able to debug sp's but on the features list for Premier Partner Edition, under the debug section it says "SQL"
Can anyone shed some light on this? Or is it the case that the eval copy of sql server 2005 ships with a version of vs2005 that precludes sp debugging !!!
I installed the evaluation copy remotely and wish to register the product by entering its product key, would that possible since I don't have the cd in the box.
Hi Chaps!! I am in serious problem that My production sql 2000 server with winSp 4 and sqlSP 2 with slammer hotfix is not executing four part distributed query well when I combine the query with begin tran statement it enter into hang mode... else without begin tran it is fine.
request to all of u to get rid of this situation as some modules of our applicaiton is not functioning...
can sp3a installation help or going back to winSp2/3 will be helpfull. (recently we have applied winsp4 but i don't think this is concerned with it)
is there any kind of problem if i continue to use "sql server 2000 enterprise evaluation edition"..the evaluation period is for 120 days and my project will complete by that period..shall i continue using that or there are any problems....
For testing purposes only, I'd like to install SQL Server 2000 Evaluation Edition on a server. From what I've read, this edition is a full Enterprise Edition, but it will expire after 160 days. But is it a full edition in the sense that users can connect to it when it's installed on a server, like if it was the Enterprise Edition? So far, I've only had it installed at local computers outside any network.
I know this is old database but when I download this evaluation from microsoft website, I got problem installing it. First, I unzip it. By default, it is unzip to C:SQLEVAL. Then, I went to install it. I don't which file I should click. So, I double click the autorun file. When I did that, there is a screen, I saw the screen saying "microsoft SQL Server 2000 Evaluation version". Then, I click "SQL Server 2000 Components"
Then, it comes to next page, and I click "Install Database Server". But after I did that, nothing happens! After I click again the same thing all over again, it says "Another instance of setup is already running".
I'm using Window XP Professional. Anyone encounter this problem before? I tried to re-download the file and reinstall but also the same problem. Really need help. Thanks.
I am testing the sqlsrv driver for php5. I wonder if there is any way how to work with transactions.
What I basically need is some equivalent of: mssql_query("BEGIN TRAN", $c);
The command sqlsrv_conn_execute($c, "BEGIN TRAN") returns null and error code 266, message [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Transaction count after EXECUTE indicates that a COMMIT or ROLLBACK TRANSACTION statement is missing. Previous count = 0, current count = 1.
Is it possible to use the driver the way I need? I mean, is there a way how to issue multiple statements (sqlsrv_stmt_execute()) in one transaction?
and the file php.sqlsrv.dll is located in the PHPext directory
I've restarted the IIS server with php running and working just fine. Is there anything else I could still check ?
Code Snippet
if (!extension_loaded('sqlsrv')) { echo("NOT LOADED"); }
Produces: not loaded.

Hi, The sqlsrv.exe process has been consuming a high number of cpu cycles and time and seems not be decreasing at all. Can somebody point me in the right direction as to how to identify the bottleneck and resolve the same at the earliest
Hi All, To me the results of getSchemas appears wrong and the catalog/schema values the wrong way round!
Using latest version of Sql Server 2005 Express with 1.2.2828 JDBC driver.
Created a database called: db_connection_tests
Created some tables inside this database called:
main child lookupThese show in Sql Server Manager as:
dbo.main dbo.child dbo.lookupIf I now log on through JDBC as user "dddddddddddd" and run 2 metadata calls (getCatalogs() and getSchemas()) the results to me do not match, that is the schema and catalog seem to be wrong in getSchemas.
Why is the catalog DBO returned for schema d_connection_tests in getSchemas(), when not in results of getCatalogs()?
TABLE_SCHEM db_connection_tests TABLE_CATALOG dbo
getDatabaseProductName: Microsoft SQL Server
getDatabaseProductVersion: 9.00.3042
getDatabaseMajorVersion: 9
getDatabaseMinorVersion: 0
meta.getDriverMajorVersion(): 1
meta.getDriverMinorVersion(): 2
meta.getDriverName(): Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver
meta.getDriverVersion(): 1.2.2828.100
List of schemas (snippet):
TABLE_SCHEM db_connection_tests TABLE_CATALOG dbo
List of catalogs:
TABLE_CAT db_connection_tests TABLE_CAT master TABLE_CAT model TABLE_CAT msdb TABLE_CAT tempdb
Tried JTds driver and results for getSchemas() are different!

I have been experimenting with the preview release of the SQL Server 2005 driver for PHP. I have used the PHP MSSQL extension a lot as well as connecting thru COM. I am glad we finally will see a Microsoft supported extension.
With the current release I am able to do most things my current MSSQL driver does. It does require some workarounds (there is no sqlsrv_num_rows nor sqlsrv_data_seek) here and there. But nothing major.
Now to get to the issue at hand. When I run a DELETE query, there is no statement resource returned and my application incorrectly detects an error.
Hello,I am writing a query to select records added to a table today, in the last 3 days, in the last 7 days, and so on.Here is what I have (which seems that its not working exactly). -- total listed today SELECT COUNT (*) FROM mytable WHERE DATEDIFF(Day, mydatecolumn, getdate() ) <= 0-- total listed yesterday SELECT COUNT (*) FROM mytable WHERE DATEDIFF(Day, mydatecolumn, getdate() ) <= 1-- total listed in the last 3 days SELECT COUNT (*) FROM mytable WHERE DATEDIFF(Day, mydatecolumn, getdate() ) <= 3I'd like to be able to select the count for records added within the last X number of days. Can someone please help me out? Thanks so much in advance.
I am preparing to move from sql7 to sql2000 and and considering the copy database wizard to move the databases. The thing that I am concerned with is this passage from BOL
"A database with the identical name on both source and destination servers cannot be moved or copied"
This to me says that the database name cannot be the same on source and destination servers. Yet, you would want the database name to be the same from an application point of view (developers get real nasty when you change database information on them).
Does this mean I cannot use the copy database wizard? Must I use sp_attatch_db?
I want to copy a table from SQL 2000 to SQL 7, that are connected though internet. Since the SQL 2000 is my web server, I don't want to touch it. Therefore, I try to create a DTS package in SQL 7 to copy the data, but fail. I cannot connect to SQL 2000, actually it is a Small Business Server 2003. However, I could connect the SQL 2000 at another computer with the Enterprise Manager that comes with SBS2003. The Enterprise Manager that comes with SQL 7 cannot register the SQL 2000.
Could anyone help me, please?
Will it be solved if I install the lastest MDAC?
Any T-SQL would work like VB's createobject("ADODB...")? Then I could write a stored procedure to do the copying.
Is it possible to copy a database from SQL Server 2000 to a server running 7.0? The servers are part of different networks so an intermediate file must be used.
Backing up the 2000 db and attempting a restore in 7 does not work -- it did not find the database info in the file.
I have to get a copy of a SQL 2000 db over to my SQL 7 test server. I think the only way is to DTS from the SQL 2000's EM after registering the SQL 7.0 Server. Any thoughts or suggestions anyone? - Rob
I am a little embarrased to be asking this question because I know that the answer must be simple but I am still a nube at SQL. I am stuck with a simple query that copies one field of data into another. Below is the script that I am trying to execute.
UPDATE table SET field2 = field1
I get an error from SQL Server that says that the String or binary data would be truncated. I am assuming that the SQL server is trying to concatenate all the value of field1 into field2. All I am trying to do is copy the values of one field into another for each and every row in the table. Thanks in advance.

I have a 6.5 db that I want to create a copy of, I can move it to eithera machine running 7 or 2000. I am more used to doing this in Oracle sopls bear with me...I don't want to have any downtime on the 6.5 db, so I'm thinking perhapsimport is the best way to go? I am assuming that 6.5 backups are notcomaptible with either 7 or 2000 restore, or I'd go that route.The database in question is fairly simple, pretty well just tables fullof data, no stored procs...suggestions?TIA
I'm pretty new to this SQL server thingie, and I have this question..
How do I copy a database from SQL Server 2000 to my local SQL Server Express? I have done this between 2000 before, but the manager for the express edition doesn't seem to have the copy task..
I really need to do this, since I have to work with a databse locally on my machine when developing...
I can't register my express server in the enterprise manager on the machine from which I need to copy the databse.. Seems to be a version incompability problem?
