Client have 2 servers, one with Sqlserver 2000 and one with Analysis Services.
Want to add a "Analysis Services Processing Task" to my DTS job on the SQLserver but the task does not exist since MSAS is not installed on the SQLserver...
Client does not want to install MSAS on the SQL Server....
Any ideas how to setup auto processing of the cubes ???

need some help!
Im doing an asp.net project on my laptop. im using the web matrix and sql server. my laptop is on its last legs so i need to start using my PC in college.
Now here is where it gets complicated. Last year we had accces to a server in the college to run .net pages across the network. But there has always been some problem with that server so there was no way of connecting to sql server. At the moment i have heard that some students use an orion web server to connect their pages to an access database,which wont do me.
Here is my plan, im going to install sql server on my computer(could get in trouble though!). i just need a web server on my machine to test my pages out without having to go accross the network of the college.
Any ideas?
i have cassini but have never used it.

My problem is with the next measure:
In MSAS I created a Cube which shows the measures on the columns and both Completed and Certificate on the rows. The OrderNumber selection is set to "All Ordernumbers". The measures a listed above are displayed exactly as i expect them to do. TptSum gives the sum for the subselection showed on the left. TptCount and TptAvg also show the expected values on their distinct rows.
I can't upload a screenshot but it looks like this:

Now however, To exclude exceptions that have a huge impact on the average I want to create a trimmed average. That is, I want to exclude the top 25% values in my trimmed average measure, which are the 2 records with the highest ThroughputTime, being ordernumber 00007 and 00008 in the "All Certificate" & "All Completed" row, but different in the other rows. I also want the bottom 25% values to be trimmed, which are the 2 records with the lowest ThroughputTime, being ordernumber 00001 and 0003 in the "All Certificate" & "All Completed" row.
I tried a lot of things, but i can't get it working. Somehow all my statements don't take the subselections on the rows into account. Really frustrating.
What I want to achieve is the following:

I am trying to connect Cognos to MSAS 2005 from an UNIX server (AIX). I am getting the following error:
QFS-ERR-0002 Unable to find or load the shared library '/cognos/c8/./bin/libykodp.so' (or one of its dependents) containing the provider 'MSAnalysis2005ODP'.
Is this file libykodp.so part of a SQL Server shared library (.o file) that must be installed on the UNIX server? Any pointers? Many thanks.

I am new to MSAS world. I need help related to this. I want to pull data from MSAS cube programmatically. Only way I know is thru ODBO, but that won't help me in this case, cause I might have to drill down upto all possible intersections stored in MSAS (at least all of the stored members). Doing this thru MDX could be humongous thing, at least manipulating data taken out using ODBO.
I might be missing something out here. Can anybody help. It would also help if somebody can tell me if any other approach is poosible.

I am a Cognos developer (10 years) and am frustrated with the apparent lack of MSAS ability to replicate Cognos measure scope / allocation features.
I have built three cubes, Sales Info, Store Count, and Date Count and wrapped these into a virtual cube (Sales Reporting). Both the Store Count and Date Count cubes have just a single dimension and a single measure each (Distinct counts of Stores and of Days respectively), this is my attempt at replicating the use of several fact queries with differing scope in Cognos Transformer. In my virtual cube I wish the distinct counts to be allocated constantly within dimensions that are out of scope. For instance if I have product categories as rows and my measures as columns then I wish to see the total number of stores on each row and the number of days in the date range so that I can calculate a few ratio's. I do not wish to see the number of stores that sold products in each category or the number of days products in that category were sold, which is what I see if I use distinct count measures in a cube with the exact same dimensionality.
All that I have been able to achieve is something similar to Cognos's 'do not allocate', zero's appear down the list of categories in out of scope dimensions.

We are experiencing authentication/ Kerberos issues after a password for the MSA's has changed. We use MSA for our SQL 2012 and windows 2012 combination Servers. This errors creates issues while backing up and Service Broker connectivity.We had to restart sql services to fix it, but this not seem to be a resolution for me because the next time the password changes on these MSA's we may have to restart sql services.There seems to be a known issue for windows 2008 R2 servers and fix is available and we incorporated it. But the issue we are facing is on windows 2012 Server.

I am unable to crosstab different alternate hierarchies of an MSAS cube from a single dimension, I'm using Cognos Powerplay (7.3 web and client) to browse the data. v 7.1 displays the same behaviour.
When I try to create the crosstab the display replaces both rows and columns to the alternate path, it overwrites the original path. Can anyone tell me if this is a Cognos issue or an Analysis services one and if there is any way around it. The only solution I have at the moment is to bodge it by creating seperate dimensions for each alternate hierarchy however this is ugly and difficult to use.

I have a report that was designed using SQL Reporting Services that sits on a SQL reporting server. It's nothing too exciting, it is essentially a three page application with legal jumbo on pages 2 and 3 and applicant data in fields on page 1.
We use rectangles to force page breaks to page 2 and to page 3.
When running the report on the report server, it shows and prints fine.
When running the report from the QA website internally, it shows and prints just fine.
When running the report from the production website from a machine internally, it shows and prints just fine.
When running the report from outside of the company network, the report is jacked. It obliterates large chunks of text, crams text together, and creates blank pages.
I need help in determining where I even begin with trouble shooting this!

I have a development team that are constantly updating their databases along with their ASP code, and want to publish changes an a weekly basis. They have asked me for a way to take their new structures, tables, procedures etc, and copy them to the live servers, but NOT to interfere with existing customer data.
Funny I know – and I hate the idea btw :(

I am in the middle of a major migraton project, moving from x86 SQL 2000 to IA64 SQL 2005. I have a business need to link to several legacy servers. I have a number of problems I am trying to solve.
1) Linking a Kerberos server to a non-Kerberos server.
2) Linking x64 or IA64 servers to x86 servers.
3) Linking SQL 2005 to SQL 2000.
Two of the errors I am encountering are:

We have a static class that makes an HTTPWebRequest to get XML data from one of our vendors. We use this as input to a stored proc in SQLServer2005. When I compile this class and call it from a console application in visual studio it executes in milliseconds, everytime. When I compile it, create the assembly and clr function and execute it in SQLServer, it takes around 14 seconds to execute the first time, then on subsequent requests it is again really fast, until I wait for 10 seconds and re-execute, once again it is slow the first time and then fast on subsequent requests. We do not see this behavior when executing outside SQLServer. Makes me think that some sort of authentication is perhaps taking place the first time the function is run in SQLServer? I have no idea how to debug this further. Anyone seen this before or have any ideas?

I created this table

with 2 Unicode characters
Œ€ = 0x2300
„¢ = 0x2122
Selecting the data
select Bez from testunicode
I see
"?„¢"
„¢ = 0x2122 is ok but instead of 0x2300 there is 0x3f
When I modify the insert statement like that ( 8960 = 0x2300 )
insert into testunicode (Bez)values(NCHAR(8960)+'„¢')
and select again voila i see
"Œ€„¢"
Does anyone have an idea?

I am trying to 'load' a copy of a SQLServer 2000 database to SQLServer 2005 Express (on another host). The copy was provided by someone else - it came to me as a MDF file only, no LDF file.
I have tried to Attach the database and it fails with a failure to load the LDF. Is there any way to bypass this issue without the LDF or do I have to have that?
The provider of the database says I can create a new database and just point to the MDF as the data source but I can't seem to find a way to do that? I am using SQL Server Management Studio Express.

Is it possible to do a direct replacement of sqlserver 2000 with sqlserver 2005 express just by reconfiguring the app to point to the express? The app would still be using the sqlserver 2000 jdbc driver to try and make the connection.
If that is a possibility, what can be some differences in the configuration? Previously with 2000 the config information I entered is:
server name: "machinename"( or ip). I've also tried "machiname/SQLEXPRESS"
DB name: name of db instance
port: 1433(default)
user and pass.
My attempts so far results in

I am in the process of planning a server upgrade to sql2005 x64.
I created 2 linked servers: one to a SQL2000 sp4 server and one to a SQL7.0 SP3.
I have the following error when I query the linked servers.
OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "IVDM2K" returned message "Unspecified error".
OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "IVDM2K" returned message "The stored procedure required to complete this operation could not be found on the server. Please contact your system administrator.".
Msg 7311, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Cannot obtain the schema rowset "DBSCHEMA_TABLES_INFO" for OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "IVDM2K". The provider supports the interface, but returns a failure code when it is used.
I am aware of KB 906954.

I applied the instcat.sql on the SQL2000SP4 server and my linked server issues for that one are gone.
However, I ran the instcat.sql script on the SQL7.0 sp3 server and the linked server is still giving me an issue.
Can someone help me find a solution to this?
Regarding KB935356, is there a "post" service pack 2 update for SQLServer Express?

How do I use the date range from TblParameter(SQLServer) to import record from TblShift(Access) using DTS?

I am new to SQL Server 2005. I tried connecting to my local machine by using my machine name as Server name and then tried running the following query:
SELECT * FROM SYS.Objects. It gives me following error:
Invalid object name 'sys.objects'.
Whereas, if I connect to my local machine using mahcinenameSQLEXPRESS, then the above mentioned query runs fine.
Why is this difference? What is the difference when I login in these 2 different ways.
Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a way to transfer data from a SqlServer db to a SqlServer Express db. I tried to use the backup file of SqlServer, but this file is not valid for SqlServer Express. Or there any alternatives?

I have SQLServer 2005 runs well for months and stop working after install SqlServer2005 SP1. I try to reinstall the SQLServer 2005 but I have problem when install work station component on my and the error is "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor". Please help me to fix this bug. I do not want to reformat my machine.

We have two servers one is the LIVE SERVER and another one is TEST SERVER. The Dumps from LIVE SERVER has been restored onto TESTSERVER. Now, when I try to run some applications in TESTSERVER it starts executing it in LIVE SERVER.
When I checked up the SELECT @@SERVERNAME value in TEST SERVER, it still refers to TEST SERVER only.
Is there any other table or value I need to check.
Can anyone help me on this.

I need to archive about a years worth of data from 4 tables, but as available disk space is very limited on the source server, I need to copy out the selected records to a seperate server. Is this possible and how.

does anyone have a script that I can adapt to collect the status of all my servers please? I am managing 20+ servers, plus MSDE installs with various applications and its now a nightmare tracking each one. I am building a central database where information such as this can be referenced but i need to populate it and then updated it regularly, hopefully with a scheduled job and some nifty sp's.
any ideas how i can achieve it if the scripts are not already around? i use PRINT @@VERSION currently, can i execute this in a different format to assess a different server from the one running the process?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have SQL Server 2005 running on my local computer (OS Windows 2000). I also have SLQ Server 2005 running on a server (64 bit OS Windows 2003)
I need to copy a table from a DB on my local server to a DB on the server.
On my local computer I can see and connect to the DB on the server. No problem.
But when I remote desktop to the server and try to connect to the server on my local computer I get the error:
Error has occurred trying to establish connection to the server… under default settings server does not allow remote connections…
Both servers are set to the default settings. What settings do I need to change so that I can connect to my local server from the other server?
I've just downloaded and installed SQL Server 2005 Trial Edition in an HP 2660rx Itanium server. I can see from the Configuration Manager that there is a service running a database instance which I created during the installation but when I try to connect to the new database thru the SQL Server Management Studio it doesn't find any (when Database Engine is the selected server type) server names. In SSMS console only when I select Integration Services as the server type it detects the server name.
What could be wrong? In my server I just made a clean installation of Windows 2003 Server and SQL Server is the only software I have installed since that.
Any help availabe?
