Dec 15, 2005

Hi,

The project I´m working needs to import data from a Progress Database. I had configured my ODBC (MERANT 3.60 32-BIT Progress SQL92 v9.1D) driver and everything seems to be ok.

But when I tried to create a DataRearder Source pointing to my ODBC Data Source,  and open the next tab I received this error message:

€œError at Data Flow Task [DataReader Soucer [135]]: Cannot acquire a managed connection from the run-time connection manager€?

Anyone can help ?

SSIS Error Or Progress Log

Feb 21, 2008

I have just finished building an SSIS package which does a couple of things including using variables, calling child packages as well as starting off replication.

I plan to kick-off the package via SQL Server Agent.

Is there any way I can monitor the progress of this report by creating a web front-end that refreshes every few minutes to report on errors and progress?

Any ideas are welcome.

I am using SSIS 2014 with the below .net framework version and installed in Windows server 2012 R2 . I have installed my client's odbc drivers (both 32 bit and 64 bit) in my production server and created ODBC system DSNs for 32 bit and 64 bit.

When i open SSIS 2014 and tried to create the odbc connection but i can able to see only the 32 bit system DSN connection ,i can't able to see my 64 bit odbc system dsn connection.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Shell (Integrated)

Microsoft .NET Framework
Version 4.5.51650

SQL Server Integration Services

And i installed my client odbc drivers(32,64 bit) and created ODBC system DSNs in my local system and when i open ssis 2014 and i can able to see both the ODBC system DSNS(32,64) connections from SSIS ODBC connection.

I am using below version of .net framework in my local system which was installed in windows 7 and i have SSIS 2012 also installed in my system and i can able to see both ODBC connections using 2012 as well in my local system.

Retrieving Native Progress Events For A 2000 Package From SSIS. Is It Possible?

Sep 28, 2006

Dear all,

AFAIK I don't think so. Let me know if possible and how.

I'm talking about a SSIS package which owns a Execute DTS 2000 Package Task and from there it calls a DTS 2000. Programatically, from our VB .Net front-end app we're seeing only SSIS events (when validate and execute methods are called) and any kind of information is provided from RCW proxy (I suppose that internally it gonna be created in order to send messages between managed and unmanaged code).

When a task inside our DTS 2000 fails we're awaring by means a "generic message" such this:

Error: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040427): Execution was canceled by user. at DTS.PackageClass.Execute() at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.Exec80PackageTask.Exec80PackageTask.ExecuteThread()

Thanks a lot for your time and comments,

SQL Server 2008 :: How To Check Progress Of Database

Jul 18, 2012

Our database crashed this morning and went into recovery mode.how I can track the progress of the recovery to determine how long it might take? The error log shows that it started up all the databases, then shows the recovery messages fr the msdb database, then shows that sql server is ready for client connections. I don't see any messages about my database recovery or the number of transactions to roll forward or background. If i run the sys.sp_readerrorlog and search for my database name, the only line returned is the starting up database message.

I do expect the database to take a while to recovery as it is about 8TB, there is plenty of free disk space about 3TB.The database started recovery while a transaction log backup was running so that backup failed, the last transaction log backup was taken 2 hours before recovery started. The last full backup completed about 5 days ago. The transaction log backup occurs every 2 hours and is typically around 16GB.

Integration Services :: Progress Database As A Source

Aug 29, 2005

I'm having trouble using a Progress database as a source.  I have an OpenLink driver installed and a System DSN set up.  I can successfully test the connection. I added this DSN to the connection manager and added it to a DataReader Source.  I then added the SQLCommand property.  I was able to map columns and such, so I believe the SQLCommand was successfully parsed.  However, when I try to save the DataReader Source, I get an error:

How To Query The Progress Status Of A Database Restore

Apr 23, 2007

Hi,

we have a reporting database that needs to be refreshed every week. I normally get a big backup file (50GB) from our business partner very Sunday morning; I have setup a job to restore the database once I got the backup file. The restore job normally will take about 4 or 5 hours to finish, but sometime it may take much longer (more than 10 hours). We knew there is some kind of disk storage contention going on the SAN. When this problem happens the system guy always try to pick my db restore process to be the victim. I hate to kill a job when it has 90% done, but I have no way to tell the restore progress status. Does someone know if I can query database restore progress information from any DMVs?

Thank you for your help in advance.

ODBC Destination In SSIS

My destination is odbc for oracle, and it failes with the message:

I can't understand it, I used with the same connection with datareader source and it works.

I spent a long time on this problem, please help me.

ODBC Destination In SSIS

Aug 10, 2005

Hi!

I have a problem that stops me from using Integration Services as THE ETL tool.

My goal is to load a data warehouse type of a database. The database is MaxDB (former SAP DB), but this is not the point. Let's take ANY ODBC compliant DB and assume all I have is ODBC driver - no OLE DB driver.

I figured out how to read from ODBC source (using Data Reader and ADO.NET provider for ODBC).

Now my question is how do I output/write my data into ODBC source? When I try to use OLE DB Destination it does not give me an option to use .Net Provide for ODBC. I tried other "destinations" with no luck.

I use this version of SQL Server 2005: (Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.1187.07 (Intel X86) May 24 2005 18:22:46 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Standard Edition on Windows NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 2)

Please, help!

SSIS Is Pathetic With ODBC Connections ...

Nov 30, 2007

We have spent days trying to perform a proof of concept and I amdissappointed with SSIS to say the least. We are trying to connect andfetch data from a Double Byte Progress database and the "DataReaderSource" using a ADO .NET ODBC provider does not work! I understandthat SSIS is a totally rewritten version of DTS. What annoys me isthat this functionality used to work in DTS and does not in the muchtalked about SSIS!! Will someone in Microsoft start listening tocustomers instead of gloating on useless features. SSIS is a totalwaste if it cannot connect and fetch data from a wide variety ofsource databases!!

ODBC Destination Issues With SSIS

Nov 29, 2006

Hi All,
In Migrating from DTS to SSIS we have scenario where data from OLE DB (SQL Server) is inserted into ODBC source (transoft driver). In case of DTS, ODBC component was provided. For SSIS we used the Destination Script Component and programmatically used the ODBC related calls to design similar functionality. However we are getting the following error €“
Error[42000][Transoft] [TSODBC][usqld] Name expected@

However the same program pointing to Microsoft Access ODBC driver works fine.

Any help in this direction will be greatly helpful.

Microsoft OLE DB Provider For DB2 In SSIS Vs. ODBC In DTS

Jun 12, 2007

I finally made data transfer between AS400 and SQL2005 work by using Microsoft OLE DB provider for DB2. I have tried other methods, some do not have build-in destination, some have unicode conversion problem. The only issue I have with this method is the peformance. For example, 300,000 rows load from AS400 take only 3 minutes with the ODBC connection in DTS, but more than 5 minutes with the microsoft OLD DB provider for DB2 in SSIS.

Does anyone have the same issue or figured out any tweaking that may speed up the transfer?

Thanks.

Using SSIS To Pull From ODBC Drivers?

Jan 3, 2008

Hi all,

I've been tasked to do some investigation at my workplace as to the best way to move forward with changing from our SQL 2000 DTS' to SQL 2005 SSIS packages.

Our main issue at the minute seems to be that we are using ODBC drivers to pull many of the raw tables which we then manipulate into our own SQL Server tables.

I've been looking about and am I right in saying there is an issue with this in SQL 2005?

Also, I've been looking for some Tutorials to help me on this, would anyone be able to push me in the right direction of any good tutorials that would help me in fixing these issues?

Cheers

ODBC Connection Problems In SSIS

Apr 10, 2006

I'm trying to connect to a Postgres database via ODBC from SSIS. The odbc connection is defined on my PC and works perfectly with other applications, including Access. However, when I set up the connection in SSIS, everything appears to connect fine (test connection works, etc.) but when I look at the data connection in Server Explorer, there are no tables, no views, and no procedures. Also, the name of the data connection is ODBC.csidb. csidb is the name of the server where the postgres database resides, but the database name itself isn't showing up. Can someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Integration Services :: SSIS - ODBC Parameter Size

Dec 12, 2014

I have created a SSIS package which runs every hour from my Machine. First part of my Package runs a Execute SQl Task and result set (single row, single column) is a comma separated list of Unique Record Ids which have been updated in last hour. (i.e. FJ1,FJ2,FJ3) I capture this result in a variable and when I User script taks to display the value of this property, it appears as it should be.I pass this Variable to Execute SQL Task on Different ODBC Server using a Stored Procedure. My SQL Statement is as Following

call DeleteRowsById(?)

And then I have assigned my Variable (as SQL_Longvarchar) to Parameter 1 in Parameter mapping Section. (ParameterSize is -1) but it doesnt delete the records from the table. (I ran the SP manually in Workbench and it works as expected) Then i had an Idea and
as part of my SP I started making entries in a Temp table just to see whats coming up as variable. Insert in the table shows only first Charecter from the variable and which is why its not deleting any records.I can not find why my variable is being truncated.

Connecting To Oracle 9i Server Using ODBC From An SSIS Package

I am trying to connect to a Oracle 9i Server to execute a sql task, but the connection when tested seems to fail with the following error from the Integration Services Project:

Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. ERROR [NA000][Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]ORA-12541: TNS:no listener

ERROR[IM006][Microsoft ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed

ERROR[0100][Microsoft ODBC Driver Manager] The driver does not support the version of ODBC behavior that the application requested (see SQLSetEnvAttr).

The connection was configured and tested from Oracle's SQLPlus session. Please note that the port that the TNS Server is listening is not the default. Is there somewhere I can specify the port in the SSIS connection manager to resolve the issue.

I have tried OLEDB connection and that does not work either.

Any inputs will be appreciated.

Integration Services :: SSIS 2008 - Using A 64bit ODBC Connection?

Sep 21, 2015

I'm running SSIS 2008 (VS 2008) on a windows server 2008 R2 server. I added a new ODBC driver (Specifically for SAP HANA) and then configured  and successfully tested an ODBC System dsn in the 64 bit odbcad.exe.

Unfortunately when I go to use this system dsn in SSIS 2008, the  "Configure ODBC Connection Manager" is empty. After some research it appears that by default SSIS 2008 (or at least my particular instance for whatever reason) brings up the list of installed ODBC drivers/User and System dsn for 32 bit (C:WindowsSysWOW64odbcad.exe) instead of the 64 bit connections (C:WindowsSystem32odbcad.exe). I'm wondering if there is a setting somewhere where i can tell SSIS to use the 64bit connections by default in lieu of automatically going into C:WindowsSysWOW64odbcad.exe or if there is some other work around here ?

Special Character Problems With SSIS Data Reader Using ODBC Driver For DB2

Sep 5, 2007

Hi,
in SSIS I read data from a DB2 database on AS400 using the Client Access ODBC Driver for DB2 from IBM and write it to a SQL Server database. Since it does not work using the odbc driver as data source directly, I use a data reader component with .net providersodbc.
Some special characters were not translated correctly when read from DB2. They show up as ? in the SQL Server target table.

I tried to change the client locale in the ODBC connection properties but it did not help me. I tried changing all other settings in odbc but it still does not work.

In dts I could source all the data without this problems and good speed using the same nodbc driver.

The OLEDB Providers delivered with SSIS do not work in SSIS or I am too stupid to configure them correctly. They are even too slow as I explained above.

I cannot use the MS OLEDB Provider for DB2, because it works only in Enterprize Edition and we only have the Standard Edition.

Thus, only using Client Access ODBC Driver for DB2 with net providersodbc (as bridge) is performant enough and works on Itanium. But how to work around the problem with the special characters?

Best regards,
Stefoon
