Problem In Installing SQL Server 2005 (Beta Version Is Not Getting Uninstalled)
Sep 17, 2007
Hi All,
I had installed a beta version of SQL Server (SQL Server 2005 CTP) and now I want to install a full version of SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition on my machine. I have properly uninstalled all the CTP componenets from Add-Remove programs and even deleted the registry data of that installation. I have also removed the related folders from the hard drive.
When I run the setup of the full version it says that setup has detected the beta versions of either .Net Framework, Visual Studio or SQl Server. Remove the beta components using Add-Remove programs and try again. Can anyone help me out of this problem?
When i tried to install the beta 3 above I encounter the following problems ;- TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Beta 3 Setup---------------------------------------- Setup configuration check cannot be executed due to WMI configuration on the computer D:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLBinnetwcls.mof. Hi all, Yesterday, I just downloaded the SQL Server 2005 Express (SQLEXPR.EXE) and tried to install it in my Windows XP Pro PC that is on Microsoft NT 4 LAN System. I got the following error: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 CTP setup The Microfost .NET Framework 2.0 is not installed. Please install before running setup. This morning, I downloaded the NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package Beta 2 (x86) from the Microsoft Download Center and installed it in my Windows XP Pro PC. Then I tried to install the SQL Server 2005 Express (SQLEXPR.EXE) again. This time I got a new error: SQL Server 2005 Setup has detected incompatible components from beta versions of Visual Studio, .NET Framework, or SQL Server 2005. Use ADD or Remove Programs to remove these components, and then run SQL Server 2005 Setup again. I am confused and lost in this installation problem. Was the .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package Beta 2 (x86) a wrong Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 I downloaded and installed in my PC? Where is the right Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 for the SQL Server 2005 Express? Please help and advise. Thanks in advance, Scott Chang
Is it possible to install SQL Server 2005 Eval on a Virtual PC 2007 client running Server 2008 Beta? Nothing says it isn't possible, it says I need to service pack it right away, but before it gets started it comes up with the error 'sqlcu.dll failed to load'. Anyone know what this is all about?
I cannot install the new version of sql 2005 because it will not install when the beta version is installed. However when I try to uninstall the beta version it says it needs .Net framework 2.0. I have .Net framework 2.0 and so I am stuck with what to do next. Ideas anyone?
I'm trying toinstall sql server 2005 trial version on my vista operating system. which extraction excutablile I should select from the following x85 excutable, x64excutable?
I have SQL Server 2005 enterprise version, which I managed to install on my desktop which has xp home version operating system.
Now when I installed SQL Server 2005 enterprise on either my two laptops one has a XP-Pro and the other windows server 2003 operating systems.
The problem is that when I tried logging on sql server 2005 on either laptops, it prompts me to enter a server name and when I type in the name I believe is the server name it rejects it
During installation on the two laptops I remember seeing a warning on 1 out of 24 components/setups that sql server2005 installs. The warning was something to do with Server client. This warning never came up when I installed the same version on my desktop. Please help €“ I am tearing head over this as I have spent the last two nights trying to get it to work on both laptops.

I'm trying to install the common components for SQL 2005 on a server that already has Reporting Services 2005 installed on it. It keeps comng up with an error: "To change an existing instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 to a different edition of SQL Server 2005, you must run SQL Server 2005 Setup from the command prompt and include the SKUUPGRADE=1 parameter."
The Reporting Services install has had SP2 applied to it, would that be what is messing up the install?
I have very little experience with SQL so any info would be helpful.
I am doing an upgrade of SQL Server from Beta 3 release to the release version. I will appreciate if I get some information , some tips that I should follow which will make my task simpler. The database is very critical and big. It has huge amounts of stored procedures. If you can tell me any site which gives information regarding this that will be also helpful..
I need to connect to a sql ce data file via Intranet . Does sql ce support that ? When I attempt to connect that remote file, it show me the error message "There is a file sharing violation .A different process migth be using this file".
I have the trial version of SQL Server 2005 installed and have setup a couple of databases. This trial version will expire in another few weeks. I recently purchased a copy of the software and want to install it. Will I lose my databases, user info, etc? How do I go about installing without losing anything?
Since some analysis services features are only available in Enterprise version , I have to upgrade my SQL 2005 server from standard edition to enterpise edition.
So I uninstall originial standard version of analysis service and install a Enterprise version. However, the analysis service is still a standard version after installation.
Is it possible to keep data engine as standard version and install a enterprise version of analysis service?
We have a 64bit os machine that we accidently loaded the 32 bit version of sql server on. We now want to upgrade it to 64 bit sql server, but we now have a production database on it. My understanding is that all I have to do is detach the production database, upgrade to 64bit sql server, then reattach the database. Is this really all I have to do?
Hi all, Im new here so il start with a little introduction of myself, My name is Arjan im 19 years old from Holland, and i work for a company to compleet my ICT Education.
My situation:
My boss gave me a server with server 2003 standard and Sql server 2005 and visual studio 2005 installed already, he asked me if i could figure out how the 'new' reporting services work, Im pretty new to SQL and the reporting service but i figured out i had to install asp.net / frameworks and IIS.
So right now i wanna start the Reporting Services Configuration Manager and i get an error that says 'Invalid namespace' and when im trying to approach by using my browser i get 'page not found' so obviously their is Alot wrong. I asked my boss if i could not reinstall everything and do it in the correct order (IIS / ASP.net / Frameworks before installing SQL server 2k5 but that was not an option because we dont seem to have the cd's anymore.
The server is not connected to any network or the internet.

I am trying to uninstall Sql Server 2005 Beta in order to upgrade to the Sql Server 2005 Enterprise Edition but without success.
Here is what I have already done:
I had VS 2005 2.0 Beta and Sql Server 2005 Beta installed. I wanted to upgrade to the Professional Editions so I uninstalled VS 2005 2.0 Beta and Sql Server 2005 Beta from Add/ Remove programs.
I have successfully installed VS 2005 Professional Edition but when I try to install Sql Server 2005 it gives me an error saying that SQL Server 2005 has detected incompatible components from beta versions of Visual Studio, .NET Framework, or SQL Server 2005.
My SQL Server 2005 Beta has expired and I want to unistall it. When I try, it tells me I need to have .NET framework 2.0 before I can run setup. I do have .NET 2.0. And I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and I still get the error from SQL Server when I try to unsintall. This error is pissing me off and this stupid beta is taking up almost a gig of space. HELP.
Ok, I have tried everything I can think of, but I am still getting errors to do with SQL server 2005 beta. Since the beta expired on all the VS.net 2005 I thought it would be a good idea to uninstall the lot to save some hard disk space...how wrong I was!!
I have completed the uninstallation instructions for my beta versions of SQLExpress (repeatedly). I have used the manual unistall procedures also. I have physically removed the SqlServer directory from the the Program Files directory. The result is the same. This message appears every time I try to to install the MS SQL Advanced package:
"SQL Server 2005 setup has detected incompatible components from beta versions of Visual Studio, Net Framework, or SQL 2005. For detailed instructions on uninstalling SQL Server 2005, see the SQL Server 2005 Readme."
The detailed instructions are NOT detailed enough.
I have uninstalled the .NET 2.0 package and re-installed it. The SERVICES window still lists the SQL Server as present even though it is not started.
When I try and connecto to SQL CE I always get an invalid operation exception. I"m afraid that I did not follow the proper install for Orcas Beta 2. I can't remember if I was supposed to uninstall SQL Mobile 2005 first or not.
All I know is when I try and use my SQL CE I can't connecto to a DB / sdf file ?
Any help would be appreciated I"m just starting to use SQL CE.
Hello guys! I have to develop a new web based project. It's a web portal for events. At the moment it's runnung on an Access database. The new version should be running on a SQL server - the desicion is: MSDE 2000 or SQL Server 2005 Express (Beta). What do you recommend? The webpages are developed under .NET 1.1.
I have a database which was created in a beta release of SQL Server Express. It was also create when I had the .Net Framework 2.0 Beta installed.
Since then, I have installed .Net Framework 2.0 (Current Release) because that is what was required for MS SQL Server Management Studio Express.
When I try to connect to the DB now it says Cannot connect to server.
I also have the mdf/ldf files. When I try to attach them on another computer running the latest version of SQL Server Express it says:
Database 'Name' connot be upgraded because its non-release version (587) is not supported by this version of SQL Server. You cannot open a database that is incompatible with this vertion of sqlservr.exe. You must re-create the database....
Any ideas how i can get the mdf/ldf files converted over? Or how I can attach the the ealier version of sql server express?? thanks.
