Problems With Connecting To Sql Server 2005 From Java Application, HELP!
May 27, 2007
Hello, Everybody.
Help me please with one problem which I'm facing with while deploying java server application on my computer (this java app is jBilling). I have configured it as it was said in docs, I have added environment variable CLASPATH as Microsoft documentation said. I'm using SQL Server JDBC driver 1.2 by Microsoft. The result is that I find this message in log file:
2007-05-27 17:21:41,906 WARN [org.jboss.resource.connectionmanager.JBossManagedConnectionPool] Throwable while attempting to get a new connection: null
org.jboss.resource.JBossResourceException: Could not create connection; - nested throwable: (org.jboss.resource.JBossResourceException: Failed to register driver for: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver; - nested throwable: (java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: No ClassLoaders found for: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver))
at org.jboss.resource.adapter.jdbc.local.LocalManagedConnectionFactory.createManagedConnection(LocalManagedConnectionFactory.java:168)
... and so on.
I have copied sqljdbc.jar to lib folder of the server. That's how I specified connection string:
I am having a problem connecting to a database I have with a java app I am creating for my senior project. I am using the latest MS JDBC for connecting to the SQL Server.
con =ds.getConnection(); } catch (Exception ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); }
The ds and con variables are declared and initialized correctly. The error I am getting now is this: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Cannot open database "*databasename*" requested by the login. The login failed.
Hi.. We have a java application which connect to our MS-SQL DB during midnight using JDBC connector and extract information. But very often ,the java applicatian halted and because of the deadlock as shown below.
Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC][SQLServer]Transaction (Process ID 54) was deadlocked o n lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim.
now the java programmer is blaming me that the MS SQL DB is having deadlock and cause their Java application to hang.
Is there any way to clear the deadlock before the the Java applcation run or how to prove the Java application script itself is having problem and causing the deadlock ?
Hey all, I've got a question and after doing some research I've found only a vague reference but no clear answer.
I have a java app that will be passing parameters to my stored procedure. I'll grab the requested info from the tables but instead of sending it back to the java app that sent the request, I need to send it to a "different" java app (the second java app will not be running at the time).
Can someone point me to a good source for executing java applications from a stored procedure?
Hope anyone in here can help. I have tried to install the SQL Server 5 Express, but can't seem to get it to work properly. I got a terrible name set as default for my database, as well as a terrible name for my username. I can't find a place to change this to something more manageable.
It is further set to windows auth, but trying to set it to both, and trying a username (and password) always gives me a log in error.
I've tried searching all over the net and in here for a simple tutorial, but can't seem to find one that helps me more than it confuses me.
***** The second part of the problem is that I have a java program which I want to connect to the database and use the tables in it, but I am at loss to how I can find what username (and password) I am supposed to have, what "url" it needs etc. I have the jdbc driver so that part should work, I can successfully log to other mssql databases (at work/school), but not my own.
In my Java application, I have a stream of character data in a java.io.Reader object. I am using a PreparedStatement object to insert data into a table containing such a large object column (datatype - text). I am using the following API call: PreparedStatement.setCharacterStream(colIndex, reader, size);
In order to find the size in the above statement, I read the stream and find the length. Because of this I am getting the following error message and the data is not getting inserted:
Exception during insertion : Failed for MYTABLE Reason [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC]Transliteration failed.
Is there any alternate method to handle this? Please help.
I am developing a J2ee application in which the the Java servlet communicate with the MS reporting services through URL Access. I am using Apache tomcat as application server to run Java servlets. Servlet gets report name, its parameters and forms an URL and send a request to SSRS. The problem is that the RS is not returning any cookie . And I get [HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request].
Both my Reporting server and the Tomcat server are running in Same machine. Reporting Services and MS SQL Server 2008 R2 are configured for Windows Integrated authentication.To login to the Reporting server i am using my local system Administrator.
I have an ASP application which is currently using a SQL 2000 Database, attaching via SQLOLEDB. I am getting ready to migrate my ASP application to .NET using SQL Server 2005 Express. The only problem, is that I am unable to connect successfully from my ASP applcation to my DB under SQL Express.
I have taken all of the steps that I have read, including the blog by Ming Lu. I still cannot be through.
I have included both the messages that are thrown and comments about the drivers and connection strings.
I have enabled TCP/IP and Named Pipes for SQL 2005 EE. I have also included the executable, port 1433, port 135, etc. in the firewall exceptions.
I have defined the DB in ODBC using both the Native Sql driver and the SQL Driver. Connection authentication is via SQL Server Authentication.
If anyone has any input, I would be grateful.

Hi, guys. It's the first time I connect a database.
My OS is windows XP.
I downloaded the sqljdbc on microsoft website and unzipped it. Copy the sqljdbc_1.1 to the directory C:Program Files.
Modified the system variables: classpath=.;%JAVA_HOME%libdt.jar;%JAVA_HOME%lib ools.jar; %ProgramFiles%sqljdbc_1.1chssqljdbc.jar JAVA_HOME=D:Program FilesJavajdk1.5.0_10 ProgramFiles=C:Program Files
I installed the sqlserver 2005and created a sqlserver db engine with windows authentification by default.
Using the management studio I created a database named BudgetAuthorization. After that I created a user: CREATE LOGIN aaron792 WITH PASSWORD='12345' USE BudgetAuthorization CREATE USER aaron792
Now I want to write a java application to access the database. The application and the database are on the same computer.
I started the TCP/IP service, using the configuration manager.
Then use the eclipse to write the java application:
import java.sql.*; public class TestJDBC { public static void main(String[] srg) { String driverName = "com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver"; // Start JDBC String dbURL = "jdbcqlserver://localhost:1433; DatabaseName=BudgetAuthorization"; // Connect the server and the database //String userName = "Administrator"; // windows user //String userPwd = "password"; // windows login password String userName="aaron792"; String userPwd="12345"; Connection dbConn; try { Class.forName(driverName); dbConn = DriverManager.getConnection(dbURL,userName,userPwd); System.out.println("Connection Successful!"); // if successful print Connection Successful! } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } }
But it cann't be done! The error information is: Login failed for user 'aaron792'. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
I also tried the windows user, still failed. What's wrong? Can anyone help? Many thanks!
We have a bought in application written in Visual Basic 6 using ADO 2.7 to connect to SQL Server. The application has two connections strings and uses internal logic to determine which of the two connection strings connects to a read-write database. It does something as simple as trying an update that makes no changes to a very small table somewhere.
Previously this application connected to a Mirrored Database hosted on two Windows Server Failover Clusters and SQL Server 2005.For the future the App will be connecting this application to a SQL Server 2014 Availability Group.The Availability Group is made up of four servers, in a cluster, two at one site on Subnet A and the other two at a second site on Subnet B. The Availability Group has been given a Listener with a DNS name of AGLISTEST on port 1433 with two Static IP addresses, one for each subnet.
Our Contractor has configured the Application’s connection strings to connect to the two Static IP addresses assigned to the AG. He is of the opinion that although ADO has zero understanding of an Availability Group, at least one of the Static IP Address will translate to the Availability Group primary server because it is a Cluster Resource and so act like a Cluster IP Address on Windows Server Failover Cluster; i.e. sort of mimicking the previous configuration. This does work and he has demonstrated it, however I can’t find any article that proves to my satisfaction this is intended behavior not something that accidentally works. If it is accidental behavior then that would be something that might stop working at an unexpected point in the future.
All the research I have found relates to connecting to the AG Listener name, and all the multi-subnet issues and Active Directory issues that go with connecting using what is a legacy client.So; the question is, is this translation / redirection of static IP Addresses assigned to an Availability Group listener documented and safe?
I'm not good t adatabases and never had to install one before, but I have an easy question....
I need to install a big application that needs a database server in the back end to run, I have a box with SQL2005 installed on it and I need to let the server be the database server for this application that will be installed on a seperate box....
How would I be able to point this application to the database server? (in general) do I need to install a SQL client on this server and point it to the SQL2005 server in the back?
Do I need to create a "new database" on the SQL sever and give it a name and credentials then point the application to that database? if that is the case, how would I do it?
I'm having a problem connecting with a Java application but I CAN connect using my .Net application - the user name and password are the same for both (using the same database on SQL Server Express 2005).
The error I get is: "com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Cannot open database "CORNERS" requested by the login. The login failed." An interesing note - I get the same message if the database is not running.
SQL Server Express 2005 is installed in mixed mode.
Here is my connection string in the .Net appplication: <add key="connectString" value="Server=(local);UID=sa;PWD=myPasswd;Database=CORNERS" />.
I'm having a problem getting back appropriate metadata for storedprocedures from MS SQL Server 2000 and 2005.I've created a simple stored procedure that has an output param thatis a cursor.When I ask for the metadata for that stored procedure using a JDBCdriver I get back a datatype value for my parameter specifying an intnot a result set.Here is my stored procedure:CREATE PROCEDURE xasp_INx_OUTcur_RETint@OutCrsr CURSOR VARYING OUTPUT ASSET @OutCrsr = CURSOR FORSELECT LASTNAME, FIRSTNAMEFROM CONTACTS2OPEN @OutCrsrRETURN 7Here is the java code:Connection conn = driver.connect(url, props);DatabaseMetaData dbMeta = conn.getMetaData();ResultSet columnRes = dbMeta.getProcedureColumns(cat, schem, name,"%");while (columnRes.next()){String procCat = columnRes.getString("PROCEDURE_CAT");String procSchem = columnRes.getString("PROCEDURE_SCHEM");String procName = columnRes.getString("PROCEDURE_NAME");String colName = columnRes.getString("COLUMN_NAME");short colType = columnRes.getShort("COLUMN_TYPE");short dataType = columnRes.getShort("DATA_TYPE");String typeName = columnRes.getString("TYPE_NAME");int precision = columnRes.getInt("PRECISION");// pass this info on to another method}The dataType is set to the type returned from the procedure not to thetype for the param.Am I doing something stupid here? Did I create my stored procedurewrong?Any help would be appreciated.Thanks.Jon
i am stuck in a strange situation. I have successfully built my application setup through InstallSheild 12. Which first installs SQL Express user define instance as a pre-requisite and then install my application files. First time when i run my application (without restarting the pc), it connects successfully with user define instance. But as i restart my PC and try to open my application, it is not connecting with database. i am using the following command line to install SQL Express 2005 user define instance:
if i change Remote connection to "using both TCP/IP and named pipes" through "SQL Server Surface Area Configuration" and then restart my pc again. My application connects successfully with Database.
Please guide me where i am getting wrong in building setup. do i have to add something in my command line to not get this error
I'm attempting to use RDA to synchronize a pocket pc emulator with SQL Server 2005 database by following tutorial http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa454892.aspx, which uses AdvWorksMobile database that comes with SQL Server 2005.
When get to testing of "To test application features " ( step 4 of the merge replication setup lab ), I am receiving SQLCe Exception errors.
ORIGINALLY, I was able to deploy an application and view the local database on the emulator, but once I clicked "InitSinc" button, I received an error.
"Failure to connect to SQL Server with provided connection information. SQL Server does not" exist, access is denied because the SQL user is not a valid user on the SQL Server, or the password is incorrect. Found this error listed in Server Agent Errors log http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms172357.aspx, but it wasn't very helpful since it doesn't provide any suggestions on fixing the problems.
I am brand new to SQL CE Server , mobile programming and .NET framework in general so please bare with me
All the connections / security settings, etc that were set up were taken from a tutorial so I am not sure what SQLCeServer is complaining about. Reading up on the error on the web didn't help, it all pointed to making sure that the snapshot folder had correct permissions set up. I verified that MACHINENAMEUISR_MACHINENAME guest user had Read rights to the database so I don't think that piece is the problem. Otherwise ,Merge publication has been setup in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio by following the tutorial.
I am trying to run this sync on my home pc so there should be no issues with any user permissions
I have IIS installed
I did NOT have SQL Server Agent running in management studio at this time
I am trying to run this tutorial on an XP machine, which is my regular home PC so I dont think there are any special networking settings to consider
I am able to hit http://localhost/AdvWorksMobile/sqlcesa30.dll from my pc OK, but when I try to hit it from a cradled emulator ( after replacing "localhost" with "MACHINE_NAME" ), Internet Explorer on the emulator gives me a "Cannot Connect With Current Settings" error message. This part wasn't part of tutorial but decided so not sure if I am supposed to be able to hit it from my emulator..so I am not sure if the fact that I can't hit it is related to the problem. AFTER STARTING SQL SERVER AGENTin Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, I killed the application, and after relaunching it, it hits "The Specified table does not exist [Vendor]" error. This time it doesn't even launch first - that is I dont even get to pressing "InitSinc" button. Debugger is showing that this error is hit on the following line in AdvWorksMobile.AddWorksDataSetTableAdapters
int returnValue = this.Adapter.Fill(dataTable);
I am not sure why the errors changed on me after starting SQL Server Agent. What can I do to fix this connection problem?
Hi, I have a problem connecting to database using windows authorization. this is sample codeSqlConnection oSQLConn = new SqlConnection();oSQLConn.ConnectionString="integrated security=SSPI;Server=SHAREPOINT\EPM;Database=STS_sharepoint_1;Trusted_Connection=true;";oSQLConn.Open(); on Windows Aplication it work good but on ASP.NET Web application I got an Server Error - Login failed for user *****************is it problem with IIS configuration???
I know how to create an Application role in SQL server 7. Now how do I connect to the database from VB using that Application Role? I can't find anything about this topic anywhere. Is this the purpose of an Application role or am I way off?
I am thinking of using my web database as the database to use for my program, though not sure how feasible due to connection speeds and having to transfer that info.
what I am using as the connection string is
con.ConnectionString = "Data Source=databse ipadress inserted here; Initial Catalog=databasename here;Integrated Security=True"; with real data obviously inserted into the ip and tables, but when i try and send values there it just hangs and then crashes. I am thinking its not finding the database. Is there something else im to do?
I am using the exact same code as when i use my own machine as the server, and it works great that way, only thing different is the trying to send to the web server.
I'm trying to connect to a sql express database on my local machine, using the following connection string:
SqlConnection thisConnection = new SqlConnection(@"Data Source=C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDataTest.mdf");
However, I keep getting an error message saying "An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections."
Why would my application be trying to connect remotely when the database is on my local machine? And how can I fix this problem?
How do I get rid of this error message when tring to log into my web site user account stored on the default ASP.NET 2.o generated database on my local computer?
Server Error in '/FundACure.org' Application.
Cannot open user default database. Login failed. Login failed for user 'LANBOYASPNET'.
Where "LANBOY" is the name of my computer. I am logged in as myself "LANBOYKEVIN" My web page is trying to log into the server using the name "ASPNET" which I assume is a standard ASPNET user name.
I thought it was failing because I needed to grant access to this user in the server, so I added the account for the server. Same problem.
So I thought I needed to create this user in my Windows XP user list. When I tried it said "this user already exists" even though it isn't displayed in the list. That is when I realized that it is a standard user established by ASP.NET. It is probably supplied in the C# code through a base class.
So, how do I get this DB to connect? Is the user missing, or is it that my connection string is wrong?
I had SQL Server Express Edition installed. I then uninstalled both it and Visual C#. I then installed SQL Server 2005 Developer's Edition and reinstalled Visual C# -- both on the same machine. I can connect to SQL Server 2005 using SQL Server Management Studio. However, Visual C# is a different story. When I try to add a new Data Connection, it defaults the data source to .SQLEXPRESS, which is no longer on my machine. I can select .MSSQLSERVER, but when I click on either OK or Test Connection, I time out with an error message -- error 25 - Connection string is not valid. The connection string that is shown at the bottom of the Advanced dialog box is -- Data Source=.MSSQLSERVER;AttachDbFilename=E:InventoryDataInventory_Data.MDF;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True
ok so i have set up SQL server 2005 on a Windows server 2003 machine. I am trying to connect to it via ODBC and/or Visual Studio 2005 on a computer running off the same switch. I have set SQL server to accept remote connections and named pipes as well as had the port unblocked. when i try and connect to it via Vista ODBC wizard or visual studio wizard it says that the server is not there or access is denied.
The server is set up for SQL authentication and i am 100% pos that the username/password i am using is correct. i am at a total loss as to what to do to get my vista machine to talk to that SQL server.
We are using VB.NET 2005 (Winform) and the backend SQL Server Express 2005. We would like to connect the Express (.mdf) database from Remote Machine. What type of connection string we have to use?
We tried the following ConnectionString but we got the error: Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Server=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFileName=S:MLJData.mdf;Database=MLJData;Trusted_Connection=Yes;
Also suggest what are all the prerequisites to run sql server express 2005 database in client machine.
We did installed the following tools in client machine:
I have created an application which uses a SQL Express database. The program runs fine on the the computer where I built the app, however when I install the app on another computer I get an error telling me that under default SQL Express does not allow remote connections. The problem is that I dont want a remote connection I want a local connection, the database file is on the commputer. How can do get my application to look for the database on the local machine.
My connection string is:
Data Source=(local)SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog="C:DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGSADMINISTRATORPLDAQ.MDF";Integrated Security=True
I have made sure that the file is in the correct directory.
i am having 2 sql servers one is web sql server server and other server is my local sql server. i am making web application through which i want to connect both sql servers at a time and by selecting data from web server i want to insert it into my local sql server both having same database on which i want to work , i want to know how it can be done my idea as follows in web.config i specify 2 connection string and by selecting data from websql server database table i going to store it in dataset and then i return dataset to another function which connects to local sqlserver database.but database records are much large. can any body guide me . i am going to place my web application on local server (C# asp.net 2.0) . thank you,
i tried this code c# file public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) {
//dr.Close(); //dbcon2.Close(); } web.config<configuration> <appSettings> <add key="abccon1" value="Data Source=comp01;Initial Catalog=abc;User Id=sa ; Password=sa"/> <add key="abccon2" value="Data Source=comp01;Initial Catalog=abctest;User Id=sa ; Password=sa"/> </appSettings> <connectionStrings/> this 2 databases are from single my loacl server it wont work it gives exception please healp me.
Based on jax-ws 2.0 technology, I built a java client application to access a report via the web service interface of the SQL Server Reporting Services 2005.
I used the jax-ws "wsimport" tool to generate the java classes needed to call the web services (The class generation is based on the wsdl and I used this one http://serverName/reportserver/reportexecution2005.asmx?wsdl) and wrote the following sample code :
ReportExecutionService service = new ReportExecutionService(); ReportExecutionServiceSoap rs = service.getReportExecutionServiceSoap();
String reportPath = "HelloWorld";
String format = "MHTML"; String devInfo = "<DeviceInfo><Toolbar>False</Toolbar></DeviceInfo>"; Holder<byte[]> result = new Holder<byte[]>(); Holder<String> extension = new Holder<String>(); Holder<String> mimeType = new Holder<String>(); Holder<String> encoding = new Holder<String>(); Holder<ArrayOfWarning> warnings = new Holder<ArrayOfWarning>(); Holder<ArrayOfString> streamIDs = new Holder<ArrayOfString>();
The trouble is that an exception is caught on the call to the render method
javax.xml.ws.soap.SOAPFaultException: The session identifier is missing. A session identifier is required for this operation. ---> The session identifier is missing. A session identifier is required for this operation. I found on the web (in C# examples) that this SessionId is supposed to be contained in the ExecutionId attribute of an
ExecutionHeader object. The ReportExecutionServiceSoap class (my rs object in the example) does not offer any way to directly set this SessionId or to associate an ExceptionHeader before calling the render method.
Is there any way to connect to Hosting SQL Server using VS 2005. I have only VS 2005 on my computer and Dont have SQL Server. I have a SQL Server credentials on the Hosting server but the problem is the hosting website control panel didnt provide any enterprise manager to work on the database. Thanks in advance.
