I've just downloaded SQL Server Express (with advanced services) from both the main SQL Server Express website and from MSDN. When I right click on the exe I downloaded and go into properties the Product Version says SQLEVALVER. To me this implies it is an evaluation.
Can I confirm this is just a mistake and if we start to redistribute the product it won't timeout in the future? I am sure it is not an evaluation but just want to make absolutely sure.
I have the developer edition of MS SQL and applied SP4 to it. Here's what I get when I execute SELECT @@Version:
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.2039 (Intel X86) May 3 2005 23:18:38 Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation Developer Edition on Windows NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 2)
According to the readme, here are the version numbers for each service pack:
SQL Server 2000 Version and Level
@@VERSION
Product Level
SQL Server 2000 Original Release
8.00.194
RTM
Database Components SP1
8.00.384
SP1
Database Components SP2
8.00.534
SP2
Database Components SP3, SP3a or MSDE 2000 Release A.
8.00.760
SP3
Database Components SP4
8.00.2039
SP4
Do I trust the Version Number or the Product Level? Anyone know what the story is? TIA.
I am currently working on a website that deals with sales of products. For one of my pages for the website I need it to be able to change the current sales information for a specific product.
The top part of the following code selects the specific product however I cannot get the update query to work.
Code:
$describeQuery = "SELECT p.ID, p.NAME, dt.[Year], dt.[Month], dt.SalesVolume FROM Products p
join
(select ProductCode, sum(SalesVolume) as SalesVolume, [Year], [Month] from MonthlySales
group by ProductCode, [Year], [Month])dt
on dt.ProductCode = p.ID WHERE [NAME] = '$desiredProduct' AND [Year] = '$desiredYear' AND [Month] = '$desiredMonth'";
$editQuery = "UPDATE MonthlySales SET SalesVolume = '$NewSales' WHERE ID = '$desiredProduct' AND Year = '$desiredYear' AND Month = '$desiredMonth'";
$query = sqlsrv_query($link, $describeQuery);
Hi, all,
I am having a question about SSIS. Is it a totally new product in SQL Server 2005 or it is a upgrade version of previous version DTS? Thanks a lot for any guidance for that.
With best regards,
Yours sincerely,
I installed the evaluation copy remotely and wish to register the product by entering its product key, would that possible since I don't have the cd in the box.

Hello,
I'm trying to get the version information for my SQL servers. Specifically I want to get the major, minor, release and build numbers separately.
Does anyone know what the recommended method for doing this is?
I tried using @@microsoftversion but I can't find any documentation about it.
@@VERSION has the information in it but I'd have to parse the text, not something I want to do and it means the code can easily be broken if the format of the string changes.
xp_msver has what I need but I want to run this as a T-SQL batch so I can't access the results of xp_msver.
Just to add another restriction the code should be compatible with SQL server 2000 and, if possible SQL 7.0 (although not necessary).
Basically I have a script that I want to run on my servers that removes all users except dbo and guest from my databases. At the moment I query master.dbo.sysxlogins table but this doesn't work on 2005 so I thought I could check the version and run a different query for those servers.
Any help appreciated.

For Example
I want the select the product date in between 2012-08-11 to 2012-08-18
Note:dont check the time.
I want the query for select product based on only date not depend upon time
I am trying to pickup the most recent record by Product and Supplier.
eg.

2 1000 WES01 Apr 8/2005
3 1001 WES01 Apr 8/2005

The Result I want is as follows:
Rec Prod Supp Date

I have tried various methods with the TOP 1 and DISTINCT statements, but have not been able to get the results I am looking for. Help would be appreciated.
I am using the code below to get all the children of a particular product and it is working fine. How to get the particular product's id in the select statement. for example, i need to show 891 in a separate column for all the records returned by the query below.
DECLARE @Hierarchy TABLE (Product_Id INT, Parent_Product_Id INT)
INSERT INTO @Hierarchy VALUES (123, 234)
INSERT INTO @Hierarchy VALUES (234, 456)
INSERT INTO @Hierarchy VALUES (456, 678)
INSERT INTO @Hierarchy VALUES (678, 891)
INSERT INTO @Hierarchy VALUES (891, NULL)
[Code] .....
Hey guys,
I was wondering if this is possible I have to be able to just select the number before the '-' in acolumn which is formatted like 123-456 so I just need the the 123 part.
Any ideas how this can be achieved?
Thanks.
hi guys!Currently i'm facing a bit odd situation. i cant modify my code so ihave to make changes in SQL Server.the problem is, i've modified one table by adding new column and now iwant only those row which has not null value in that column wheneverthe select statement gets fire. i mean in every select statement onlythose rows should be returned which has NOT NULL value in the newlyadded column.for this i've created one view and tried to run the application but thei'm facing some problem as my application is developed in .net 2.0,i've used lots of .net functionalities and now i cant make any changesin Code.another solution i think is triggers. if i can fire a trigger beforeany select statements, my problem can be solved instantly but i'mafraid i can not write andy "before select" trigger.if anyone has any idea or any other solution to my problem, please letme know.all suggestions are welcomed.thanks,Lucky

I need a select statement to retrieve what version of sql server is running and whether it is enterprise or standard.
I know I could just right click but I have hundreds of servers to go through so this should save alot of time.

Hello,
I have the following problem.
I have three Columns
name / version / package
I want to create a select query, that shows me all names and their actuall package. The actual Package is the record with the highest version number.
For Example my Database has the following entries :
name / version / package
name1 / 1 / package1
name2 / 1 / package1
name2 / 2 / package3
name3 / 1 / package2
The output should look like this :

name2 / 2 / package3
name3 / 1 / package2
Has anyone a idea and can help me ?
Thanks in Advance

Hello,
I am trying to write a query that will be able to select different segments of data based on spelling of the last name.
For example, in my database of name information, I need to select anyone whose last name starts with 'AAA' to 'EJJ'
then need to select anyone whose last name starts with 'EJK' to 'JAE' and so on...
I have tried using LIKE and some other methods with the > operator, but I can't get it to work. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how to select data based on the alphanumeric characters this way?
Thanks
I have to add the unit price on the order acknowledgement for products on our shelf.
Each product has different price breaks stored in a table called MaterialUnitCost.
I don't know how to pull the correct price based on the order quantity.
Let's say the customer orders 200 pieces,
I sell 1 pcs @ $20
50 pcs @$15
200 pcs @$10.
My order acknowledgement should pull a unit price of $10, but it pulls $20 instead, because in my select statement I have
select materialunitcost.unitcost.
I thought I should do a loop or use the row_number function, but I am new to SQL, and I never used any of these two.

I have the DVD from the ready to launch event. Thanks

Is there any way to restore a database of higher version to lower version.
E.g. I have created a database in sql server 2012, created some tables & procedures in that.I took Full backup of that database. Can I restore it to sql 2008r2 or any lower version.
I know direct restore is not possible, I have to use either import or export option or generating script, but i want to know is there any easy step to do so.

Hi all,
Since some analysis services features are only available in Enterprise version , I have to upgrade my SQL 2005 server from standard edition to enterpise edition.
So I uninstall originial standard version of analysis service and install a Enterprise version. However, the analysis service is still a standard version after installation.
Is it possible to keep data engine as standard version and install a enterprise version of analysis service?
Thank you very much

Hello,I have been searching and reading a lots of information on the microsoft website about the different version of SQL server, but still can not make my decision. In term of performance, is there a real big difference between the workgroup and the standard version? The workgroup is limited to 3 GB of RAM while the standard is unlimited, would that really change the performance if my server has 16Gb or RAM?The price difference is pretty substantial so if could only have to buy the workgroup , it would be better. One more question, regarding the type of licence, my server has 2 processors, could I avoid buying 2 licences and get the Server plus CAL instead. I am using this server to host 4 web-application running on SQL server. Each database is about 15 MB.Thanks in adavance for your advises.Arno
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am wondering if it is possible to change from SQL Server Enterprise Evaluation Version to Developer Version. The reason is because the Enterprise Evaluation version expires after 180 days. So if I create reports and cubes in Enterprise Evaluation I can import them into Developer Edition right? Should I remove the Enterprise Evaluation version after 180 days or leave it then install Developer Edition?

I have received the error message "Package migration from version 8 to version 6 failed".I have developed a SSIS package with Visual Studio 2013 which gives me PackageFormatVersion of 8. I then deploy my package to the ssisdb catalog that is running on a SQL Server 2012, this works fine but when I try to execute the package the error arises…due to SQL Server 2012 has a PackageFormatVersion of 6 and it can’t run something that has a greater version.I haven’t seen any good solution for this but one that would work for me would be to upgrade the Integration Services Server from 2012 to 2014, leaving everything else in 2012 (database, ssms, ssas, ssrs).Would this solve the package format problem? Would I then be able to execute my packages in the ssisdb catalog?
