Programatically Adding Selectparameters Depending On Options Selected

Jan 14, 2008

Hi everyone,

I am building a search page and am a bit stuck.

The page has an sqldatasource with no select command and i am passing the select command and parameters depending on the optionsm selected.

If a tick box is ticked and a drop down selected i need to add a parameter to the datasource and generate the select command.

then if 1 and or 2 trext boxes are filled in, add the 1 or 2 select parameters then generate the select command.

The select command is correct as far as i can tell , but the parameters are not being passed to the datasource so it doesn't select anything.

my code behind is in the page load handler and at the moment only adds the parameters in one place so i could test.

Does anyone have any idea what i have done wrong?

Cheers

Chris

CODE BEHINDProtected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load

Server Options Are Not Being Executed From Local Programatically Code?¿

Aug 16, 2006

Dear all,

For example, executing a DTSX stored in a server, execution is fine and successfully but the log file attached to that DTSX is not created at all after the execution. Otherwise if I'm going to execute from the server everything is fine: log file is created and gathering the usual information.

Let me know if exists any option for to enable this from the own DTSX.

If I run local packages log files are created without problems.

Thanks in advance,

Adding Two Parameters With One Depending On The Value Of The Other

Feb 25, 2008

hello

sorry to distub you again

in fact i'm a beginner and i don't really see how i can do some tasks

when i display a report i want the reader to choose a client, and when he chooses a client, he can choose in the second parameter list, the missions that correspond to THIS client

so i have 3 datasets

one in which i get all my data needed
and i have a filter in where part of query

Code Snippet
where client=@client
and mission=@mission

and i filter on these 2 values

in the second dataset , i gather all the clients i have by doing this query

Code Snippet
select distinct name from client

and i have this third dataset where i gather all the missions corresponding to one client

and here i write

Code Snippet
select mission_label from client
where name=@client

the two fields are in the same time and in this third dataset i apply a filter on Parameters!client.value

but when i execute the report, the second parameter doesn't work, it gives me no choice of mission for a client, it doesn't return anything while when i execute the query in the dataset i have these values

how can i do this please?

thanks a lot in advance

and sorry or bothering with such questions

SQL Server 2012 :: Adding Flags Depending On Criteria

Feb 12, 2014

I have a data output with many rows. In order to group things with flags, I do this in excel using 2 formulas which *** a flag of 0 or 1 in 2 new columns.

This takes a long long time as I have hundreds of thousands of rows and wondered of I could do it in sql?

Its transact SQL and the formulas I use in excel are:

=IF(SUMPRODUCT(($A$2:$A2=A2)*($B$2:$B2=B2)*($C$2:$C2>=C2-1/24)*($C$2:$C2< C2+1/24))> 1,0,1)
=IF(SUMPRODUCT(($A$2:$A2=A2)*($B$2:$B2=B2))>1,0,1)

How I can do this in sql??

The columns above do not relate to the actual columns I use, just an example.

Programatically Adding A Timeout Value For BulkInsertTask?

Dec 13, 2006

I've searched around for a while and can't seem to find out how/where I set the timeout on a bulk insert task programmatically. Here is a snippet of code that works as long as the input file is pretty small....when I attempted to pump 1.3 million rows through the default timeout value was not big enough and a timeout exception occurred.

Package loadPackage = new Package();

Stopwatch timer = new Stopwatch();
timer.Start();

ConnectionManager conMgr = loadPackage.Connections.Add("FLATFILE");
conMgr.ConnectionString = @"C:BWR.txt";
conMgr.Name = "FileInput";
conMgr = loadPackage.Connections.Add("ADO.NET:ODBC");
conMgr.ConnectionString = @"Data Source=FOO;Initial Catalog=DestinationDb;Integrated Security=True;";
conMgr.Name = "DestinationDB";

TaskHost task = loadPackage.Executables.Add("STOCK:BulkInsertTask") as TaskHost;
BulkInsertTask biTask = (BulkInsertTask)task.InnerObject;
biTask.UseFormatFile = true;
biTask.FormatFile = @"C:BWR_1.fmt";
biTask.SourceConnection = "FileInput";
biTask.DestinationConnection = "DestinationDB";
biTask.DestinationTableName = "StageBWR";
biTask.BatchSize = 100;

DTSExecResult result = loadPackage.Execute();
timer.Stop();
Console.WriteLine(string.Concat("Process took(ms): ", timer.ElapsedMilliseconds.ToString()));
Console.WriteLine(result.ToString());
if (loadPackage.Errors.Count > 0)
{
foreach (DtsError error in loadPackage.Errors)
{
Console.WriteLine(error.Description);
}
}

Again, the code above works just fine until we hit a timeout. There is no Timeout property on the BulkInsertTask class, nor can I see a way to set it on the Sql Connection. I don't even see them in the Connectionmanager.Properties collection for either the file connection or the database connection.

Am I overlooking the obvious somewhere?

Reporting Services :: How To Display (All Selected) When Parameter (Select All) Is Selected In SSRS

May 6, 2015

Using SSRS 2008 r2...I have a report with a single-value parameter and three multi-value parameters, Class1, Name2 and Name3. I'm hoping for an explanation to one thing that I'm seeing and information on a second thing.

Class1 and Name2 both have the (Select All) parameter selected but Class1 is displaying the concatenated parameter variable list whereas Name2 is showing Null. Why is that? If anything, how can I get Class1 to be similar to Name2 and show Null?But my desired wish is to have Class1, Name2 and Name3 display the text"All Selected" when the parameter (Select All) is chosen.

SelectParameters - If Checked Add Where

Apr 3, 2008

What im looking to do is put a checkbox on my page and if the box is checked have it add a where clause to the sql statement.
The most i have seen with selectparameters is for it to basically take the value of the given control (or whatever) and dump it in to a query.
In this case what i would like to do is if the box is not checked it has my basic query run Select * from Table
and if the box is checked i would like it to run Select * from table where status='completed'
basically a check box that shows only completed items.
wasnt sure if i could do this with just the sqldatasource control and some selectparameters or if i had to write some code.
 Thanks

SQL Datasource And SelectParameters ALL Items

Hi , I am trying to write a report generator by simply using a form and then a gridview that query's the database based on what the user selects on the form.  Anyways, I update the SQL parameters similar to below code.  I just want to know how i can tell the parameter to get ALL values from the parameter instead of a specific value. For example if the user wanted to see ALL the records for CustomerName what would i set the parameter default value to?  I tried the asterisk but that did not work.  Please guide me....Thanks!  MattSqlDataSource1.SelectParameters["CustomerName"].DefaultValue = "some value";<asp:SqlDataSource ... >   <SelectParameters>      <asp:Parameter Name="CustomerName" />   </SelectParameters></asp:SqlDataSource>

How To Setup SelectParameters Programmatically?

Feb 16, 2007

Hi,
I am using Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition.
I am trying to SELECT three information fields from a table when the Page_Load take place (so I select the info on the fly). The refering page, sends the spesific record id as "Articleid", that looks typically like this: "http://localhost:1424/BelaBela/accom_Contents.aspx?Articleid=2". I need to extract the "Article=2" so that I can access record 2 (in this example).
How do I define the SelectParameters or QueryStingField on the fly so that I can define the WHERE part of my query (see code below). If I remove the WHERE portion, then it works, but it seem to return the very last record in the database, and if I include it, then I get an error "Must declare the scalar variable @resortid". How do I programatically set it up so that @resortid contains the value that is associated with "Articleid"?
My code is below.
Thank you for your advise!
RegardsJan/*******************************************************************************
* RETRIEVE INFORMATION FROM DATABASE

// specify the data source
string connContStr = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["tourism_connect1"].ConnectionString;
SqlConnection myConn = new SqlConnection(connContStr);

// define the command query
String query = "SELECT resortid, TourismGrading, resortHits FROM Resorts WHERE ([resortid] = @resortid)";
SqlCommand myCommand = new SqlCommand(query, myConn);

// open the connection and instantiate a datareader

SqlDataReader myReader = myCommand.ExecuteReader();

// loop thru the reader

How To Specify 2 Different Selectparameters - 1 For Querystringparameter And 1 For Controlparameter

Apr 4, 2007

Hello,
I am sure there is a way to do this programmatically, but it is just not sinking in yet on how to go about this.  I have a page where I use a dropdownlist that goes into a gridview and then the selected item of the gridview into the detailsview (typical explain seen online).  So, when selecting from the dropdownlist, the gridview uses a controlparameter for the selectparameter to display the appropriate data in the gridview (and so on for the detailslist).
My question is - I wanted to use this same page when coming in from a different page that would utilize querystring.  So, the parameter in the querystring would be for what to filter on in the gridview, so the dropdownlist (and that associated controlparameter) should be ignored.
Any suggestions on how to go about this?  I assume there is some check of some sort I should in the code (like if querystring is present, use this querystringparameter, else use the controlparameter), but I am not sure exactly what I should check for and how to set up these parameters programmatically.
 Thanks,
Jennifer

Sqldatsource:SelectParameters:FormParameter Not Effective Till Postback?

Nov 14, 2007

I have a simple gridview that loads on page load. It uses an on page sqldatasource declaration in which there's a parameter in which value is already available in cookies. I added an asp:HiddenField and set that value on PageLoad() to the value of the cookies. I then set a FormParameter in the sqldatasource mapped to that hidden field. However that appears to have no effect at all. I'm guessing the sqldatasource will only use the form field after postback.

Hi! 1st Time, Can't Program &<SelectParameters&> And Searching Around Brings No Definite Answer

Mar 22, 2008

Hello to all coding members!
I'm building my first ever complete website in the ASP.net VB language and I have to say, I'm pretty happy that I was able to learn from this website and to gain some ground.
Data retrieval and editing from tables and databases was very intuitive with the Visual Web Developer IDE. I even learnt simple ways to implement (and to script a bit of) login pages to make my visitors feel "at home" in my website.However, when I wanted to implement simple Business Logic into one of my ASP.net page, i happen to stumble upon a block.Business Logic: To have the server go through the whole table of storybook entries submitted by many users, but only pull out the storybook entry(s) that belong to the logged-on user.Hence, let me drill down to my specific questions:

I will be using VB. Coming from a JavaScript genre, my concern is: will putting the Business Logic code into a code-behind page (.vb) or dumping it onto the page itself have any errors or effects?

How Not To Display A Row Depending On Other Rows.

Oct 8, 2007

Hello,
I am very new to SQL and ran into a problem using Access. I hope you can help me here.
The question is the following:
I have to tables:
Table 4x4: CommodityCode(string)/NeedofBU(high,low)
Table ASDBComplete: CommodityCode/Manufacturer/Rating(red,green,yellow)

What I want to get as a result is to display all ComodityCodes that have a 'red' rating and a 'high' NeedOfBU. So far no problem. But now there usually is more than one manufacturer for one CommodityCode. What I need now is that the CommodityCode is not displayed if there actually exist a Manufacturer with 'green' or 'yellow' rating.
How would you do that?
What I have so far is:

SELECT [4x4].[CommodityCode], [4x4].NeedofBU, ASDBComplete.CommodityCode, ASDBComplete.Rating, ASDBComplete.Manufacturer
FROM 4x4 LEFT JOIN ASDBComplete ON [4x4].[CommodityCode] = ASDBComplete.CommodityCode
WHERE ((([4x4].NeedofBU)="high") AND ((ASDBComplete.Rating)="red"));

But this gives me all the Commodities with red ratings. Even if there is a supplier with a green or yellow rating.

I would need somting like:
if exists 'commodityCode.XY with 'manufacuturer rating = green OR yellow' do not display commodityCode.xy

I really appreciate your help

Is there any way or option to get the all columns of dataset added to table when we add a table in data region. It will take lot of time to add one by one and also there are chances to add one column ore than once.

T-SQL: Different SELECT Executed Depending On Condition.

Apr 30, 2004

I'm trying to execute a different SELECT statement depdning on a certain condition (my codes below). However, Query Analyzer complains that 'Table #Endresult already exists in the database', even though only one of those statements would be executed depending on the condition. Any ideas as to a work around? I need the result in an end temporary table.

IF @ShiftPeriod = 'Day'
SELECT * INTO #EndResult FROM #NursesAvailable WHERE CanWorkDays = 1
ELSE IF @ShiftPeriod = 'Night'
SELECT * INTO #EndResult FROM #NursesAvailable WHERE CanWorkNights = 1
ELSE IF @ShiftPeriod = 'Evenings'
SELECT * INTO #EndResult FROM #NursesAvailable WHERE CanWorkEvenings = 1
ELSE
SELECT * INTO #EndResult FROM #NursesAvailable

At present it is not an Auto increment , I check for the Maximum ID and add One to the next Inserted record. Is there any simpler method?
