Hi,
I need to write an add-in, that when installed it will add a virtual folder to the project tree (in which I can later add other stuff).
The problem is even more complicated since the project I want to extend is an SSIS project (SQL Server Integration Services), and it doesn't let you customize the project structure even from the project explorer itself (can't add folders).
I appreciate any help on this.

Im working on my minor project for my Undergrad course.
I have no earlier experience on working with SQL, im the biggest noob if there ever was one.
For a part of my project i have to design a page using php and sql to query from a big student database selected details(Rank, Sex, Branch) and calculate the industrial placement chances and to construct a multiway decision search tree on SQL(im using WAMP server).
This page is supposed to help new students joining the college decide an ideal branch based on past performances and placement record. A new student will enter his rank and relevant details and the from the decision tree an ideal branch(es) with high placement history will be suggested.
My project assignment reads:
"Now from the above prepared data constuct a decision search tree implement it a either using association rules or persistent Objects and store it in secondary storage as shown
Further studies can be done to improve existing decision trees ... data mining bayesian classifier blah blah blah ... "
What i have done till now is create a table in this format:
But this hardly a tree. Rather i had flattened each path of the tree and made it into a table like:

I have tried to read some text on how to do this, but its not making sence and most importantly im not sure what im reading is actually going to help me achieve my project goals. Right now stranded reading random articles. I have to do this within 5 days. I have asked people around here some professionals and teachers, noone seems to have done this before. A little help in direction would be greatly appreciated.

For some reason in a Team Foundation Team Project that has multiple project types (SSRS, SSIS, WebSite, C# Business DLL...), the SSIS project makes itself the startup project to the team project. If I explicitly set another project as the startup project to the team project and then select an SSIS package in the SSIS project in the team project, the SSIS project becomes the startup project automatically.
I am using Visual Studio 2005 SP1.

I have 3 Tables...
Table1: Users
Fields: UserID Int
Username Varchar(50)
Table2: User_Categories
Fields: User_CatID Int
User_ID Int
Table3: Categories
Fields: CatID Int
Catname Varchar(100)
Now consider Table 3 has the following values

Now I need to select users who fall into the categories with CatID 5, 1, 3. Also users can fall into more than one category.
The users should be sorted by the 1st the users who fall under 5, then users who fall under 1 and then the users who fall under 3 and then finally by the userID in the descending order.

I have 4 tables, Product, RawProduct, RawProductPriceHistory and RawProductPromotionalHistory. The relationship is a Product can have multiple RawProducts (one for every retailer the product is stocked in), and the PriceHistory and PromotionalHistory tables keep track of when the RawProduct's price changes, and when it comes on or off of promotion.
I have the following SP to return prices for the given Product for the given Date.
I need to extend the SP so that it also returns details from the RawProductPromotionalHistory table if a PromotionalHistory entry occurs for the passed date (@Date). We determine whether a PromotionalHistory exists by whether the passed @Date >= RawProductPromotionalHistory.StartDateTime and @Date <= RawProductPromotionalHistory.EndDateTime. The EndDateTime can also be NULL - indicating an ongoing promotion.

I am confused with this topic extentded ssis.What i am diong here is creating a pipeline component and i am trying to use this component and transfer data.
What is happening here is that i create it but i dont find it when i try to include this(component) in the toolbox ->Choose items.I find my project with in tools->Attach process.

Has anyone investigated extending any of the SSIS Container classes?
I have been looking into it because we'd like to add a set of standard logging calls on events, standard startup procedures, etc. on any package that we execute.
I've been looking into the Sequence Container, For-Each, etc. They are all sealed classes. I'm not sure why MS has sealed them.
We're currently thinking of implementing our own version of the Sequence Container -- we'd really like to be able to extend the functionality of a standard container class, but we don't want to have to implement the actual container class itself.
Any insight appreciated.
How can I create a source extension that reads a text file and returns a XML file? I would like to have an xml File as output, because the information is already normalized.
If I extend the class €śPipelineComponent€? I can just define IDTSExternalMetadataColumn90 as output. And I do not want to have columns. I would like to return a xml file

Can anyone provide any direction in extending existing SSIS components with a custom component, if it's possible at all. In some cases there are just slight bits of functionality missing that I think I could add in myself. I have been working on some SSIS packages for a while now and today while i was working i was trying to create a new connection and in the process there was an error and it said the BIDS has to be closed and i closed it but later when i open BIDS and try to open my project(.sln) from the file menu to work on the half done package it pops up an error which shows the path to my project location on the first line and next statement on the pop up error box says:
"Make Sure the application for the project type (.dtproj) is installed."
I tried to check some forums in which some suggested to try installing SP1 which i tried but ..i dont know why but the SP1 fails to install (i dont know if its causing problem becoz i already installed SP2 as i had some other problem before for which the cure was to install SP2).
Did anyone here face such a problem before ?
I'd really appreciate if the experts here can tell a cure for this problem.

I have a Visual Studio 2005 solution which contains a Sql Server Integration Services (SSIS) project.
In this solution I have explicitly set a Web application project as startup project, but whenever I edit a DTS package within the SSIS project, VS automatically sets the SSIS project as startup project and the package I edit as startup object.
Needless to say, this may cause some really unwanted incidents when running the solution - thinking that you're about to run the Web application project (that was explicitly set as startup project), but instead, you run the edited package in the SSIS project.
Is there any way to avoid having the SSIS project automatically setting itself as startup project, any workaround here at all? :)

I have a very small project written in VB.Net 2005 using the SQL Server 2005 SSiS DTSx package.
I took a SQL Server 2000 dts package and using the SQL Server 3005 legacy tools migrated it so I could still use the package withing SQL 2005 until I can build one using BI/SSIS.
Anyway,I added the reference Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS so I could then use the Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime so I can execute the commands:

Ok. That works fine. Executes without a hitch. So now I try and create a setup project for this and I use the setup wizard.
During the creation of the setup project I get a message that states:
The following files may have dependencies that cannot be determined automatically. Please confirm that all dependencies have been added to the project.
C:windowssystem32msxml6.dll
OK. The dll is part of the reference I mentioned above and I have no idea what other dependencies it may have.
How do I find this out?
Has anyone else created a project like this and experenced the same?
I am on a clean build running WinXP Pro with SP2 - VS2005 with SP1 and the SQL Server 2005 tools.
I've got an SSIS solution file with project deployment model in VS 2013 and would like to deploy that to SSISDB on different environments.All these days I followed the regular way to create a project in SSISDB and deploy it to that. Now want to find out if i can automate this process and so got some questionsÂ
1. Can we automate the process of creating a project on SSISDB based on our SSIS project name? This will be like when we do a deployment it should check if the project exists or not on SSISDB based on our SSIS project name, if the project exists we just deploy the packages in the project and if the project does not exists in SSISDB it will create that project and deploy the packages.
2. Can we also automate the process of creating environments? In traditional way we manually create the environment variables under environment tab of SSISDB, but can we make that also as part of deployment? Like when we are releasing to Dev server we look if that particular Dev variable exists on that server, if it exists we just update the existing stuff and if it does not exists we just create it.

When I go to create SSIS project I dont see it in visual studio 2008. What do I have to do to make it appear in visual studio 2008 so that I can create SSIS projects.

I've had requests for a version of my product ViEmu, a VS.NET 2003-VS2005 add-in, which will work within SQL Server 2005 Management Studio. I had a look at the Mgmt Studio, and it seems to be a version of the VS2005 environment customized for the product. There is a registry hive along the line of the one in Visual Studio, but located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft SQL Server90ToolsShell.
I looked for any hint online, but it seems largely undocumented.
I tried plugging my software by writing the right 'Packages' and 'AutoloadPackages' keys, and running "SqlWb /setup", which seems to do something. Nothing happened afterwards, anyway, the DLL doesn't seem to be loaded into the process. I tried using the '/log' option, but an error message comes up (which doesn't describe the /setup option either).
Is there a way to load a VS package into SQL Server 2005 Mgmt Studio? Is this a problem with the PLK? Is it unsupported? Has anybody been successful in such a feat? Would it be ok if I hack some way, no matter how obscure? Is this deliberately turned off, as in the Express editions?

Is there a way to extend the number of rows that will be returned so that Reporting services doesn't display such a large number of pages for the users to page through? It would be easier for them to "wheel mouse" through a long page on the screen.
Anyone out there have any thoughts on how this might be accomplished?

Currently I am using the old SQL Mail (xp_SendMail). But due to the problems with losing the MAPI connection and other limitations, I have been forced to find another solution. Using SQL Mail, I was able to add a query parameter and attach the results of the query to the email. I need to have the same functionality in CDOSYS Mail

The "Derived Column" transform seems ideal, if only I could add my list of user-defined functions to it. Basically I want to inherit from it, and add my own list of functions for the users to select.
Is this possible ?

It seems I've made what is probably a typical newbie mistake: I used COPY/PASTE
to
consolidate containers from two packages into a single new project/package.
Now my new package generates multiple duplicate errors (23 of each...) whenever I open it:

I've created a Report Model Project that can be used by Report Builder to generate ad-hoc reports. I'm trying to create a connection string in my Report Server Project that points to the Report Model Project data source view.
All I can do is create a regular datasource, which bypasses the metadata contained in the Data Source View.
Basically I want my Report Server Project and my Report Builder reports to leverage the same metadata. Is this possible? If so how do I get the connection string?

But the stock components such as the Derived Column data flow transformation must each be implemented by their own class. So how do I base my custom components on those classes? The documentation for the PipelineComponent class doesn't list any such subclasses.

Example, I have a single parent record in table A that may later on spawn one or child record in table B that relates back to the parent. It only needs a single level.
