Programming SSIS - Exception 0xC0204006

Jan 15, 2007

Hello. I am attempting to use SSIS to import a table from MS Access in to SQL Server. However, when i set the destination component properties I get the following error:

Exception from HRESULT: 0xC0204006
The table exists within the destination database and if I comment the line out, it is able to acquire the connection.Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Programming In Ssis

Dec 5, 2006

Hi..

I am working on sql server integration services..New to this topic...I want to transfer data from flat file to sql database by doing it programatically.Creating source,destination and transform adapters

my basic question is should the source,transform and destination adapter be bulid for each file i am trying to transfer.

What is the advantage of this doing it this way.

Would anyone let me know about this..

Thanks

SSIS Programming Examples

Mar 28, 2006

I have been creating SSIS packages programmatically and have run into somewhat of a dead end. I have found the examples provided with the SQL 2005 install very helpful, but they only cover setting up three tasks: Sort task, OleDB Source and a Flat File Destination.

Does anyone have any examples or knows of examples of using the Merge Join task and the Conditional Split task?

I'm doing it all programmatically and so far I'm having trouble finding much in the way of documentation or examples.

Any help would be great!

Thanks,

Mark

Can SSIS Parse This Text Report Without A Lot Of Programming?

May 18, 2006

I've got some machines that output text files after each shot of parts. I'd like to take the data in those files and parse it and insert it into a SQL Server database for future massaging. The text files look like the example I've posted below. Can SSIS parse out the set points and actual values even though the file isn't CSV or tab delimited and the data is kind of 'strewn' all over the report? Each report does have the exact same format so the report format doesn't change from report to report, just the data. Thanks in advance.

0xC0204006 In Merge Join Component

Feb 14, 2007

Hi,
I have data coming from 2 sources

Source 1 (EmpId, EmpName, Hiredate, Salary)
Source 2 (MgrId, MgrName, IsActive, Date_Started, Wages)

I am only concerned about 3 common fields (Name, Date and Wages)

I have joined EmpName with MgrName, Hiredate with Date_Started, but when I select Wages in correspondence to Salary, it shows me the following error

===================================

Error at Manager_Detail [Merge data with adjustments (Salary) [11668]]: The metadata for "input column "Wages" (13852)" does not match the metadata for the associated output column.

Error at Manager_Detail [Merge data with adjustments (Salary) [11668]]: Failed to set property "OutputColumnLineageID" on "input column "Wages" (13852)".

(Microsoft Visual Studio)

All the datatypes are matching, but I dont know why this error occurs

Any help in this will sincerely be appreciated.

oledbItemMasterSource.Name = "InventTable";

oledbItemMasterSource.Description = "Get Item Master";

After creating this package i found that 'InventTable" is not set to OLE Db Source component. where as i can set name to OLE DB Flat File destination component.

Programming SSIS - Minimum Runtime Requirements On The Application Server

Dec 21, 2007

Hi,

I have a VB.NET program which creates a Job (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Agent.Job) and schedules it, to load and run a existing SSIS package, which is on a different server.

I'm using the following assemblies for this purpose.

Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo.dll
Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo.dll
Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlEnum.dll

To make this application run in my application server, do i have to install any SQL server components or SSIS rumtime components? Or Is it enough if i copy only the above mentioned dlls to my applications bin directory, in my application?

Note: I have the enterprise edition of SQL Server 2005 installed on my database server.

Thanks in advance.

SSIS Programming Model - Adding Custom Dll As An Executable To Package

Aug 8, 2007

I am trying to add a custom dll(IncrementTask avalilable in SQL Server DTS Samples)
as an executable(Task) to an SSIS package.

The following console application consumes the Custom dll:

using System;

using Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime;

using Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.FileSystemTask;

using Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Samples;

using Microsoft.Samples.SqlServer.Dts;

namespace Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Samples

{

class Program

{

static void Main(string[] args)

{

Package p = new Package();

// Add a File System task to the package.

//This Line of code works fine.

//TaskHost execPkghost = (TaskHost)p.Executables.Add("STOCKQLTask");

//This line throws the following error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

TaskHost execPkghost = (TaskHost)p.Executables.Add("Microsoft.Samples.SqlServer.Dts.IncrementTaskUI,IncrementTaskCS,
Version=1.0.0.0,Culture=Neutral,PublicKeyToken=b23be0feabed1355");

TaskHost thFileSystemTask = execPkghost as TaskHost;

// Iterate through the package Executables collection.

Executables pExecs = p.Executables;

foreach (Executable pExec in pExecs)

{

TaskHost taskHost = (TaskHost)pExec;

Console.WriteLine("Type {0}", taskHost.InnerObject.ToString());

}

Console.Read();

}

}

}

I am getting a runtime error that "object reference has not been set to an instance of the object".
Any help on this is higly appreciated.

'((System.Exception)($exception)).Message' Threw An Exception Of Type 'System.NotSupportedException'

Jan 16, 2008

Greetings everyone, I am attempting to build my first application using Microsofts Sql databases. It is a Windows Mobile application so I am using Sql Server Compact 3.5 with Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2. When I try and insert a new row into one of my tables, the app throws the error message shown in the title of this topic.
'((System.Exception)($exception)).Message' threw an exception of type 'System.NotSupportedException'

My table has 4 columns (i have since changed my FavoriteAccount datatype from bit to Integer)
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k71/Scionwest/table.jpg

Account type will either be "Checking" or "Savings" when a new row is added, the user will select what they want from a combo box.

Next is a snap shot of my startup form.
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k71/Scionwest/form.jpg

Where it says "Favorite Account: None" in the top panel, I am using a link label. When a user clicks "None" it will go to a account creation wizard, and set the first account as it's primary/favorite. As more accounts are added the user can select which will be his/her primary/favorite. For now I am just creating a sample account when the label is clicked in an attempt to get something working. Below is the code used.

private void lnkFavoriteAccount_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)

{

FinancesDataSet.BankAccountRow account = this.financesDataSet.BankAccount.NewBankAccountRow();

account.Name = "MyBank Checking Account";

account.AccountType = "Checking";

account.Balance = Convert.ToDecimal("15.03");

account.FavoriteAccount = 1;//datatype is an integer, I have changed it since I took the screenshot.

financesDataSet.BankAccount.Rows.Add(account);
//The next three lines where added while I was trying to get this to work.
//I don't know if I really need them or not, I receive the error regardless if these are here or not.

this.bankAccountTableAdapter1.Update(financesDataSet);

this.financesDataSet.AcceptChanges();

refreshDatabase();

}

the refreshDatabase() code is here:

private void refreshDatabase()

{

this.bankAccountTableAdapter1.Fill(this.financesDataSet.BankAccount);

//Aquire a count of accounts the user has

int numAccounts = financesDataSet.BankAccount.Count;

//Loop through each account and see which one is the primary.

for (int num = 0; num != numAccounts; num++)

{
//Works ok in frmMain_Load, but when my lnkFavoriteAccount_click calls this, it throws the error.

if (this.financesDataSet.BankAccount[num].FavoriteAccount == 1)

{
//Display the primary account on our home page. User can click the link label & be taken to their account register.

this.lnkFavoriteAccount.Text = this.financesDataSet.BankAccount[num].Name.ToString();

this.lnkFavoriteFunds.Text = this.financesDataSet.BankAccount[num].Balance.ToString();

break;

}

}

}

and my form_load code

private void frmMain_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)

{

refreshDatabase();

}

So, when I click on the lnkFavoriteAccount label, and my new row gets added, the app stops at the following line in my DataSet.Designer

[global:ystem.Diagnostics.DebuggerNonUserCodeAttribute()]

public byte FavoriteAccount {

get {

try {

return ((byte)(this[this.tableBankAccount.FavoriteAccountColumn]));

}

catch (global:ystem.InvalidCastException e) {
//Stops at the following line, this error was caused by 'if (this.financesDataSet.BankAccount[num].FavoriteAccount == 1)'

throw new global:ystem.Data.StrongTypingException("The value for column 'FavoriteAccount' in table 'BankAccount' is DBNull.", e);

}

}

set {

this[this.tableBankAccount.FavoriteAccountColumn] = value;

}

}

I have no idea what I am doing wrong, all of the code I used I retreived from Microsofts help documentation included with VS2008. I have tried used my TableAdapter.Insert() method and it still failed when it got to

if (this.financesDataSet.BankAccount[num].FavoriteAccount == 1)

in my refreshDatabase() method it still failed.

When I look, the data has been added into the database, it's just when I try to retreive it now, it bails on me. Am I retreiving the information wrong?

Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

SSIS Package Out Of Memory Exception

SSIS Package Fails/Does Not Complete Without Reason, Likely Due To A .NET 2.0 Exception

Feb 8, 2008

I have searched extensively and not been able to find a solution to this problem.

The problem:
We have one SSIS package will sometimes 'finish' executing (or crash from a .NET exception) when it certainly has not made its way through all of the data flow components. There are no SSIS error messages, no warnings, and it never happens at the same location in the package's pipeline. The only thing that is instantly visible is a command window that flashes on the screen and disappears too quickly to see anything,.

Sometimes the package does actually complete without any problem, but most of the time, it does not.

What we see:
If the packages is being run through the "Execute Package Utility" (by double clicking the dtsx file), after a bit, a command window flashes on the screen and instantly disappears (no text is visible), then the €œExecute Package Utility€? disappears. The event viewer of the machine then shows:

Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error
Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Type: Error
Description: Faulting application dtexecui.exe, version 9.0.3042.0, stamp 45cd726d, faulting module dtspipeline.dll, version 2005.90.3042.0, stamp 45cd721f, debug? 0, fault address 0x00019a66.

If the package is running within visual studio, again the command window flashes on the screen, then the "Execution has completed" prompt appears, but any "running" component remains Yellow (no red), both within the data flow and control flow (we do not have any event handlers set up). Neither our SQL Log provider, nor the "Execution Results" tab in visual studio show any type of error message... all SSIS messages just stop right in the middle of the many OnPipelineRowsSent log events (so there is no PackageEnd log event when this happens). The event viewer on the machine contains no useful messages when running within visual studio.

And other packages:
Are fine. This is only the case for this one package... we have nearly a dozen other packages, all very similar in design, that complete without issue.

We have also tried re-creating this troublesome package from scratch with no avail.
<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->
About the package:
The Data Flow is pulling rows from 3 different external SQL data sources (400k-500k rows total), sorting and merging the rows, performing some basic lookups, then SCD'ing the results. This Data Flow is executed multiple times within 2 nested for loops (these nested loops give us particular dates, i.e. years 2000 through 2008, then months 1 through 12 for each year). There is not a single script task in the package. The problem seems to happen most as the data is being pulled from the sources and merged together, but it is not limited to this area.

<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]--><!--[endif]-->
The environment:
We€™ve tried to use multiple machines with the same result. The current machine specs are as follows:
SQL Server 9.0.3042 (SP2)
Windows Server 2003 R2, Enterprise x64 Edition, SP2
3.00GHz x 16 processors, all 64 bit
63.5 GB of RAM
Over 1 terabyte of hard disk space
.NET 2.0.50727.42

The package was designed using:
Visual Studio 2005 with SP1
Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Designer - Version 9.00.3042.00

Anyone have an idea? Thanks in advance.

SSIS Package Fails Giving That Com.interop Exception When Scheduled.

Apr 16, 2008

Hi,

I have one SSIS package which is written in Visual studio business intelligence tool. For that SSIS packages i have scheduled a job from SQL server management studio 2005. I mean i have scheduled a job in SQL server agent.
This job which i have scheduled contains 6 SSIS packages and the other 5 SSIS packages executes successfully but this only fails giving sone com.Interop exception.

But it is failing giving some com.interop exception. Not sure what type of error is this?

It give following type error:

Microsoft (R) SQL Server Execute Package Utility Version 9.00.3042.00 for 32-bit Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-2005. All rights reserved. Started: 11:00:00 PM Error: 2008-03-27 23:00:00.81 Code: 0x00000000 Source: Execute DTS 2000 Package Task Description: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040427): Execution was canceled by user. at DTS.PackageClass.Execute() at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.Exec80PackageTask.Exec80PackageTask.ExecuteThread() End Error DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1). Started: 11:00:00 PM Finished: 11:00:00 PM Elapsed: 0.579 seconds. The package execution failed. The step failed.

I get the same error when i try to execute the package from Visual studio Business Intelligence tool.

Can you please help me out as to what is this "System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException" exception occuring when scheduling or executing the job.

Thanks,
Ashok

The Script Threw An Exception: Exception Of Type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' Was Thrown.

Jan 31, 2007

Hi,

I got an strange problem with one of my packages.

When running the package in VisualStudio it runs properly, but if I let this package run as part of an SQL-Server Agent job, I got the message "The script threw an exception: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown." on my log and the package ends up with an error.

Both times it is exactly the same package on the same server, so I don't know how the debug or even if there is anything I need to debug?

Load/Run SSIS Packages On The Server From A .net Exe Exception:Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DtsPipelineException: Retrieving.

Jul 28, 2006

Hello, I got an exception when I try to load/run a SSIS Package programmatically on the server using remoting.
The client machine has no SQL Server 2005 component installed..

This is the error I get from my exe application:

Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DtsPipelineException: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {E44847F1-FD8C-4251-B5DA-B04BB22E236E} failed due to the following error: 80040154.
---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {E44847F1-FD8C-4251-B5DA-B04BB22E236E} failed due to the following error: 80040154.
at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application..ctor()

And this the Remote component:

<Serializable()> Public Class SSISComponent

Inherits MarshalByRefObject

Public Function LaunchPackage(ByVal sourceLocation As String, ByVal serverName As String, ByVal packageName As String, ByVal packageVariables As SortedList) As Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DTSExecResult

Dim packagePath As String
Dim myPackage As Package
Dim integrationServices As New Application
' Combine path and filename.
packagePath = Path.Combine(sourceLocation, packageName)
Try
If integrationServices.ExistsOnDtsServer(packagePath, serverName) Then
myPackage = integrationServices.LoadFromDtsServer(packagePath, serverName, Nothing)
Else
Throw New ApplicationException( "Invalid package name or location: " & packagePath)
End If
If Not packageVariables Is Nothing Then
For Each de As DictionaryEntry In packageVariables
myPackage.Variables(de.Key).Value = de.Value
Next
End If
LaunchPackage = myPackage.Execute()
Catch ex As Exception
Throw
End Try
End Function
End Class

This is the code that call the remote component to run the package on the Server:
Public Class Test
Private Function LoadAndRunPackageRemotly(ByVal PackageName As String, ByVal PackageVariables As SortedList) As Boolean

Dim launchPackageService As New SSISComponent
Dim packageResult As Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DTSExecResult
Try
packageResult = launchPackageService.LaunchPackage(Me.SSISPackageLocation, Me.SSISServerName, PackageName, PackageVariables)
If packageResult = DTSExecResult.Success Then
LoadAndRunPackageRemotly = True
Else
LoadAndRunPackageRemotly = False
End If
Catch ex As Exception
Throw
End Try
End Function
End Class

I would like to inform that everything run inside a thread because the Package do a lot of things...
When I build up the setup for the exe inside the Detected Dependencies there are several DLL related to SQL Server (Microsoft.SQLServer.DTSRuntimeWrap.dll etc..etc..) that I don't register ..
Tis could be the problem?
If yes, somebody can tell me which one I have to register ? as COM or COMRelativePath?
Some other hints?

This error could be also caused by wrong permissions on the ssis?
Thank you very much for any help...
p.s. To use sql server agent will be my last option!!

Sql Programming

Mar 29, 2005

What I want to do is remove part of a result from a query. I am selecting the srvname from sysservers as follows.

SELECT srvname from sysservers
Where srvid ='0'

When the name is returned some times it might be like servernameinstance. What I need to do is cut off the and everything after that so that my result is just servername. I am then using this result in a cursor to go after server shares. The length of the servername varies. Any suggestions.

RMO Programming In VB.net

Aug 17, 2007

Hi,

Currently I am using the BCP functionality to import/export tables between different SQL Server 2005 databases. The process is working ok, but it creates alot of manual work, when 70 or more tables need to be transferred, every week. I am new to RMO development and am interested if the following may be possible.

- I would like to build an interface in VB.net allowing users to select a source database, and select the tables that need to be transferred from the Source DB, to the Destination DB.

-Put in place RMO funtionality to replicate the source database tables into flat files.

-Within the Vb.net app transfer the created flat files into the destination database.

I would greatly appreciate any advice on this, or if there may be a better approach at replacing the BCP functionality.

Thanks,

Programming Databases

Mar 30, 2004

I need to create a database with one table and its column names.
I got this script from the query analyzer templates as a database basic template:
IF EXISTS (SELECT *
FROM master..sysdatabases
WHERE name = N'<database_name, sysname, test_db>')
DROP DATABASE <database_name, sysname, test_db>
GO

CREATE DATABASE <database_name, sysname, test_db>
GO

I am not sure what it all means, what I need to do it name the database a certain name each time. and then create one table with 6 column names.

can someone give me guidance please...

Transact-SQL Programming

Aug 3, 2000

I have a table containing almost 700000 records. The table contains the following fields:

table_id, member#, car_eff_dt, car_term_dt, mbr_occur.

A member can occur more than one time and his effective date/termination date are sorted sequentially.

An example would look like this:

table_id member# car_eff_dt car_term_dt mbr_occur
1 12345678901 01/01/1995 12/31/1995 null
2 12345678901 01/01/1996 12/31/1996 null
3 12345678901 01/01/1997 12/31/1997 null
4 10987654321 07/15/1998 02/16/1999 null
5 10987654321 04/01/2000 12/31/9999 null

Using Transact-SQL, is it possible to generate a unique number for each occurance of a particular member#?

table_id member# car_eff_dt car_term_dt mbr_occur
1 12345678901 01/01/1995 12/31/1995 1
2 12345678901 01/01/1996 12/31/1996 2
3 12345678901 01/01/1997 12/31/1997 3
4 10987654321 07/15/1998 02/16/1999 1
5 10987654321 04/01/2000 12/31/9999 2

Currently, I am running the code in an Access/VBA module through an ODBC connection, but I would like to be able to run all my code directly on the server.

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.

Just curious,

What do all of you use to create and edit stored procedures? I am looking for a better way to code than to use the default window supplied with Enterprise Manager.

Do most of you use the Query Analyzer? Are there third party products you like using better?

Thanks for the info..

What Programming Language Is Behind SQL?

Dec 9, 2004

I am looking into a production geared software called MassGroup. (www.massgroup.com) It says that its FactoryServer builds are on a standardized SQL framework and web architecture for data collection, work order requests, reporting and asset management. My questions are:

1. Is SQL its own programming language? If not what is it?
Answer: After going thru several pages and reading the fine print I discovered they use VB, ASP, COM technology, and Crystal Reports.

2. How powerful do you think this would be at gathering data and does it have the capability of creating a number sequence automatically? (example: 0001; 0002; 0003...)

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance!!!!!

Help!! Hate Programming Sql

Mar 3, 2008

I have just started in Sql 6 months ago. I was an IT major in graduate school and am now in my late 30's (career change). It took me 4 years to finally get what I thought was my dream job. Well, I was promised training which I have yet to receive and bascially went from doing basic queries that I did in class in college to doing advance Sql - stored procs, etc. I completely hate it. I do not know if it is from the lack of training or if it just not for me. I am completely bored out of mind. I am also tired of struggling everyday to complete assignments. The first 2 assignments I received were way out of my league. I was told this by a project mgr who did a similiar assignment and they have years of sql experience and it took her 3 months with assistance to complete it. I have been with the company for almost 6 years. I am not sure if I should just complete my current assignments and ask if they can reassign me to a different IT department, look for a new job or just continue to struggle and pull my hair out. Please give me some feedback as to how you would handle this situation.
