Hmm.. where to start? Well, I have installed proj serv 2007 and have it up and running fine. I was recently asked to get the data analysis portion of the proj server working. After much digging for some guides, I found a few helpful and got sql analysis server installed with everything else it need to operate. (as far as I know). One of the guides that I have encountered and using asks me to use sql studio management to access the analysis server. Problem is, I dont have the option to choose a server type. (Its greyed out) Which only has the option for "Database Engine". Furthermore, I cannont complete the steps required without this option. Could someone please, please, point me in the right direction and possibly tell me what Ive done wrong. Project server 2007 documentation is horrible. Just to be able to use the server has been a process.
I want to update value of a custom field for a perticular project in Project Server 2007 using PSI.
I have created 5 enterprise custom fields(A,B,C,D,E) through PWA/Server Settings.
I want to search all Projects on Server. If any project is having value for custom field A then I want to update rest of the custom fields(B,C,D,E) for that perticular project.
I downloaded a trial version of office 2007 and the data mining addin. I do not have an automatic connection to Analysis Services, so most functionality does not work. Is it possible to configure a connection with a trial version? If so, does anyone know what the server name is and how to configure it?

I have implemented SQL Server 2005 Developer Version at Windows XP Home. I'm working on localhost.
I want to do an assoziation analysis and creating data source and data source view is successful. But when the data mining wizard comes to the point where to choose the data mining algorithm, the visual studio crashes- the application is not responding. No error code is given, so I don't know where to start.
Analysis Server is running and the connection to the data source is made.
My site crashed, so I had to rebuild the Project Site.
I used the SharePoint products and technologies configuration wizard to disconnect from the server farm (only actually running on the single server).
I then reran SharePoint products and technologies configuration wizard to setup the site.
Configured the Project Service and attached to the existing dB's.
Previously, I used the url http://servername.domain.forest/PWA/default.aspx .
Now when I attempt the use the same URL, I get the following error:
"An unexpected error has occurred"
I have tested this one 3 servers now and I receive the exact same result. Is there a path I should apply to the servers in order to allow fully qualified server names after a reinstall of the system?
I have, a SSAS 2012 tabular instance with SP2, there is a database on the instance with a read role with everyone assigned permissions. When configuring the Power BI analysis services connector, at the point where you enter Friendly Name, Description and Friendly error message, when you click next I receive the error "The remote server returned an error (403)." I've tested connecting to the database from Excel on a desktop and connect fine.I don't use a "onmicrosoft" account so don't have that problem to deal with.
We use Power BI Pro with our Office 365. As far as I can tell that part is working ok as I pass that stage of the configuration with a message saying connected to Power BI.The connector is installed on the same server as tabular services, its a Win2012 Standard server. The tabular instance is running a domain account that is the admin account for the instance (this is a dev environment) that account is what I've used in the connector configuration. It's also a local admin account. There is no gateway installed on the server.
in order to maintain a deployed project into an Integration Services Catalog I'd like to know if it is possible to import it into a new project inside SSDT.
I've got an SSIS solution file with project deployment model in VS 2013 and would like to deploy that to SSISDB on different environments.All these days I followed the regular way to create a project in SSISDB and deploy it to that. Now want to find out if i can automate this process and so got some questions
1. Can we automate the process of creating a project on SSISDB based on our SSIS project name? This will be like when we do a deployment it should check if the project exists or not on SSISDB based on our SSIS project name, if the project exists we just deploy the packages in the project and if the project does not exists in SSISDB it will create that project and deploy the packages.
2. Can we also automate the process of creating environments? In traditional way we manually create the environment variables under environment tab of SSISDB, but can we make that also as part of deployment? Like when we are releasing to Dev server we look if that particular Dev variable exists on that server, if it exists we just update the existing stuff and if it does not exists we just create it.
I have visual studio 2005 and sql server 2005 with integration service installed on my machine. Couple of days ago, I installed visual studio 2008 professional. When I go to create SSIS project I dont see it in visual studio 2008. What do I have to do to make it appear in visual studio 2008 so that I can create SSIS projects.
I have been banging my head against the wall with trying to integrate SharePoint 2007 and SQL Reporting Services. I have been following these 2 websites down to the letter in trying to configure everything:

Basically my setup is as follows:
Server 1 = SharePoint 2007
Server 2 = SQL Server Reporting Services SP2 / SharePoint 2007 services
Server 3 = Database
Server1 is setup and running SharePoint 2007 fine with no problems. It was installed under the complete option with its own server farm. Then with the Server2, SharePoint 2007 is installed again, also under the complete complete option, and configured to join Server1's server farm. In this way, Server2 is able to supply Server1 with services and it has been said that if you are using 2 different servers, one for SharePoint and one for Reporting Services, you need to have an instance of SharePoint on the reporting services box. With a SharePoint "front-end" the reporting-services now has a way to also join Server1s farm.
This is where the headache begins....the SharePoint install is successful on Server2 and the services are started as evident through the Central Administration page. The next task is to install SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services and then the SQL Server 2005 SP2 patch.
After installing SQL Server and the SP2 patch, you go into the SQL Reporting Services Configuration Manager and setup the Report Server, Database, and SharePoint integration. I configure everything to run under the "DefaultAppPool" under IIS, and I get green accepted checkboxes on everything.
Finally, the last step is to install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint Technologies on Server1. This add-in actually allows the connection between SharePoint on Server1 to the Reporting Services on Server2. The install is successful and the extra options for reporting pop up under Central Administration page. When configuring the final connection under the Central Admin I referred to the following Microsoft Page:
For the "manage integration settings", I set the report server to Server2 and use Windows Authentication. Then for the "grant database access" I use Server2 and login with my credentials...
PROBLEM: Then for the final step of setting the server defaults, I click on the link and get the following error:
"An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. "
I have googled and tried installing/uninstalling several times, but it seems that I keep getting hung up here. When trying to access reports on the ReportServer, the same error message comes up.
If anyone is familiar with integration between SharePoint and SQL Reporting Services, and may have any ideas/comments/advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance! =)
hello good afternoon, I am having this issue, I need to move reporting services from one server to another, but I need that credentials, roles and reports stay the same. But as the reporting services is integrated with sharepoint, dont know if I can move both at the same or it has to be done one at a time. this is just data migration, but still I will like to Know how it can be done having the same structure with the roles and credentials. or it is prefered to do a ghost?? but the issue will be that we have the reporting services in one place and the data in another... dont know how this will affect. thanks in advanced for the help.
I am trying to load data from Excel 2007 version into SQL server 2014 DB. I am getting below error" SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRE CONNECTION FROM CONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed".I have tried all options like changing Delay Validation is TRUE and in properties i changed runtime 64 bit to FALSE but still getting above error.
I have some questions about SQL Servers 2000 and 2005 compatibility. In my configuration I have to use both servers. The cubes are stocked in 2005 server. May I transfer from 2005 to 2000 Analysis Services the cubes?
If yes, what is the procedure? The result of migration is the same in the two different versions?

I had a package that was deployed to the SSIS server. That server went away. I would like to now deploy the package to a file system. What settings do I need to change in the package so that it will not attempt to deploy to a non-existant server?
I have a cube that we are processing nightly via an Analysis Service Processing Task in SSIS. In order to increase the performance of the processing time, we elected to use a lot of rigid dimension attributes, and do a full process of everything in the SSIS task. The issue that I am having is that after that task completes, I need to go into Visual Studio to deploy the cube becuase we are unable to browse or use the cube. This issue seemed to start once we changed the SSIS Analysis Service Processing Task to do a full process on the dimensions, rather than an incremental.
I would expect that once development is done, and it is processed and deployed, that is it. My thinking is that the SSIS task should just update the already deployed cube,

I'm trying to build a relationship(regression) between “Price Sale” from Good and “Price Deliver”.But I do not know what column better choose as “key column”: ID or GoodID ?
I seem to having a really hard time when making schema changes. Adding a new fact table, renaming a dimension column, adding a new measure or renaming an existing one. Somehow these things tend to cause problems at one or more stages - either running the schema wizard or processing the cube.So I ask, what is your overall strategy for adding or updating new schema updates into your DB with regards to the SSAS project?
Another way to ask this - is how often do you find yourself deleting the the DSV and / or the whole cube and starting over because some schema change lead to a cascade of issues that just didnt seem to want to let you correct them?
My vendor requires data to be sent in Excel format. Some of my tables have rows over 65,536 so I need to use Excel 2007 (Max of 1,048,576). Right now my data sits in SQL 2000. I am using MS SQL Enterprise Manager 8.0 to prepare the data. Is there some kind of add on or selection I am missing to use DTS to export from SQL to Excel 2007?Thanks in advance.
Hi I installed Analysis Services yesterday and was building some test cubes from our receipts data, today, when I tried opening my cubes, it appears that my Analysis Server (on local machine - laptop) is not available giving the error message of :
"Unable to connect to the registry on the server FJKILKEN-MOBL, or you are not a member of the OLAP Administrators group on this server"
I have shut-down/restarted, and then checked that all appropriate services (SQL server, OLAP server etc) are running which they are any idea on what the issue could be?

I have seen these pages with similiar cases but can't help.
I am able to archive the Analysis Services db's using the msmdarch on one server but not the other server. (It is working in the Test environment but not the Production environment.) Here are the details:
Both servers are SQL Server 2000 sp1. I compared sp_configure and both servers have the same settings. The Production server is clustered and the Test Server is not clustered.
I can archive in TEST using the following: - From Analysis Manager - Using the msmdarch command from a command prompt - From a scheduled job using the "Operating System Command" Type from a job step entering the msmdarch command in the Command box. - Using the msmdarch command with xp_cmdshell within Query Analyzer and from a Stored Procedure.
I can archive in PRODUCTION only using: - From Analysis Manager - Using the msmdarch command from a command prompt ** It does not work from a job or from Query Analyzer
I have checked the permissions of the SQL Server Agent account on both servers and they are identical with sa rights and a member of the OLAP Administrators group.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what could be causing this?
When I try to register a server in Analysis Services I get a error saying 'Automation error' and I also get a message saying Unable to open Registry Key 'SOFTWAREMICROSOFTOLAP ServerOLAP Manager'
I have a complex scenario , so first I want to ask out the feasibility of it . Hi, I have used MIcrosoft Sql Server 2000 for a while, namely analysis services. What I want to know is if Sql Server Express Edition 2008 has also tools to handle with datawarehouses, olap and data mining, that is, which are the limitations of SQLServer 2008 Express Edition, they are related with that tools?
if it provides that tools, do you know good documentation related with these issues?? And books??
Is it possible to have Analysis Services in both modes or are they mutually exclusive?I have a machine setup with Multidimensional AS and would like to know if it's possible to add a Service in Tabular mode.
