Hi guys,
I recently developed a website for one of my client and today client report that i face random error sometime when i access some pages.
The complete error description are shown below.
A transport-level error has occured when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The specified network name is no longer available.
Can any one told me from which reason this error generated and how to resolve it, Client host website on shared hosting plan and uses SQL SERVER 2005 as database management system.

I am creating my first .net site. You can see what I've got so far at www.palmbeachatpickwick.com. It's hosted on GoDaddy and I am using Visual Web Developer and SS2005Express to develop. Trying to get the membership piece working, and I think I am about half way there, but hit a wall. The db connection works insofar as you can join the site and the new user record is successfully added to the db. The confirmation email is successful. The part that's broken which generates the error: 26 message is the page redirect after clicking on "continue". I also get this error when trying to login. Both my login.aspx and join.aspx pages redirect onsubmit to Default.aspx as follows: After creating an account and clicking continue: ContinueDestinationPageUrl="~/Default.aspx" After logging in: DestinationPageUrl="~/Default.aspx" There's just a few lines of text on the default page. My master page (used by default.aspx) only has a sitemap data source. No sql data sources specified. So not sure why I am getting a sql error. I have enabled everything in SQL server config manager.
Basically the error that I am getting is in our test automation when running as non-admin on the box (regular user). We use .Net C# SQLConnection class to connect to SQL express 2005 impersonating with admin credentials. This happen only in the non-admin scenario mentioned above. Any idea what is triggering this?

We just changed the dev environment to sqlagent. From then we were unable to see the reports on the report server because:
An error has occurred during report processing.
Cannot create a connection to data source 'IHRSDataSource'.

this error is cropping up.
To Resolve this issue, we checked the Surface Area Configuration and also checked the Reporting Service Configuration . There seem to be no problem and everything looks ok.

I am new to dotnet. I tried connecting to the database MS SQL Server 2000. I gave the code like, the one below, in form load event,

It tries connecting to SQL Server 2005. There is no SQL Server 2005 in that system. There is only SQL Server 2000.
I have the aspx code in my local system and the database in another machine.

I realised this has been done to death, and so much information out there but I am still in a quandry.
I have had to rebuild my computer.
This is what I did
XP machine using SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition using Windows Authentication NZ6(MSSQLSERVER)
straight default install all the way
unfortunately when ready to run reports from my instance(computer) I received the error as in provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server
thought I had it all okayed but obviously something not right
so ended up unistalling then - did the following:
Load SQL Server from disc1 and start install failed on alter Counter Registry key error fixed this from KB article (known error that can happen) restarted Went to Windows Update check IIS is installed - tick is on - IIS - admin tools - make sure asp2 is associated - yes ok Then back to install sql server - there is no instance set up yet Disk 2 and setup .exe
All ok on Reporting Services, Analysis etc.
But once again all seems fine but still getting the error:
connection is all fine in Management Studio - eg I can see tables etc connection is all fine in Business Intelligence - eg I can preview my reports I then can deploy up to - NZ6 open NZ6 eports report is there fine - but just errors
some simple little tick that I have not done!!
I seem to have checked and rechecked everything and obviously doing another re-install does not seem a logical step from here. I will continue to check but if someone jump in and advise please would be great.

I am getting the following error when i try to connect to the my web site using froma different server. A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) i am using sql express and i attach the database through the connection string in the web config. Any ideas
Hello, been having issue w/ symantec backup exec 12 for the past few months trying to backup the database files on a x64 windows 2003 sp2 server. After talking to about 6 techs from symantec, I finally come across this error and am told to contact microsoft.
I had created a .udl file to test the connection between the media server and the SQL server. It tested successfully from the media -> sql. Then I created a .udl on the SQL server to test it there, however when I tried to select the OLE DB provider for microsoft SQL server, I got the following error: "Microsoft Data Link Error: Provider is no longer available.Ensure that the provider is installed properly."
If anyone knows how to fix this issue easily that would be great. Thank you in advance.
I have 2003 server installed on my machine along with MS SQL Server Management Studio and I am able to connect fine to SQL 2000 Instances. On my laptop running Vista Enterprise, I can not connect to these exact same instances via MS SQL Server Management Studio as I am getting the above error. Does anyone else have this problem? I have no idea what to check for anymore. Thanks in advance.

Ok can somebody please explain to me why only 1/2 my project is getting this error. I am working with SQLExpress on a remote windows 2003 box. The sql server has its service running and the browser is also running. The server has been set to allow remote connections and to accept TCP/IP and Named Pipes. Now, the website uses asp.net membership and roles to allow the users to login, which actually works. So I know that there are no errors in that connection string. However, all the data acess code is compliled as a sepeate class library thats referenced in the bin directory. When calling those methods to beind to a control in code, is where i run into this error. The class library connection string in the app.config file is exactly the same as the connection string in the web.config...i have checked permissions as well, im at a loss to the reason why this is not working....its probably something simple, but im not finding it.
On a seperate note - How do i get the remote database to show up in the server explorer on vs2008, i have tried putting in the ip addressinstance name, and a combo of there items, it will not connect. I have a feeling the two issues are connected. Also fyi, on the remote box, I am able to login with the sql studio express, so im not really sure exactly wuts gong on. I made a simple ASP.NET 2.0 Website that uses memberships, roles, and access to MS SQL Server 2005 database. Everything works fine on my development computer (WinXP Pro). When I deployed this Website on another computer (WinXP Pro) and tried to access the main page from the same computer, I get the error below. Hi All: I'm having problem connecting remotely to my sql 2005 server. I do get this error msg An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) I'm using a named Instance and conncting like 192.168.2.1DB120 I have configured to server to accept remote connection. I can connect locally bout not remotelly
Same files are workign fine in my office with SQL Server 2005 enterprise edition and ASp.net 2.0. on Windows server 2003. I do not get this error. But at home I am facing this problem again and again.
This problem happens on this particular machine and doesn't happen on other machines that I have. And I think this problem belongs to this forum. Because the problem is triggered by a special setting in the connection string. I followed the steps of threads including Xinwei Hong's instruction for fixing this error(26) but has no luck.
The problem occurs when I call SqlConnection.Open().
I am using window xp, sql2000. the named instance is on local machine, my connection string is like
Whenever I change Asynchronous Processing=true into Asynchronous Processing=false, the problem is gone.
This problem also occurs when I use Visual Studio - Server Explorer - Add Connection dialog - Advanced button - Advanced Properties window where you can set Asynchronous Processing property to true.
I try to connect to a SQL Server 2005 Express Edition via IP address. But anytime the application tries to connect to the database here is th error message I receive:

I have enabled the TCP/IP under SQL Server, Under SQL Server Configuration Area, I have chosen the option Local and remote connection: TCP/IP only I have verified that my firewall allows SQL remote and a Local Connection.
Now I don't know where to look or what I have to fix to continue. I will really appreciate if somebody can help me.
