Purchasing Q's

Jun 21, 1999

I have a couple questions about purchasing.
1st of all, it is my understanding that 7.0 can be installed on an NT workstation or 95/98 box. How well does this work? What are it's limitations in that regard?
Next, where can I go that might have discounts of the retail price?

I'd appreciate any feedback.

I Need Help In Purchasing Sql Server 2005

May 28, 2007

Hi everyone, I have a web application (ASP.NET 2.0) where user will access database informations (read, write) from the application (So the SQL server is not directly exposed to the internet). These users will be authenticated from the applications itself (Not using NT/AD authentications). My question is should I get the SQL server 2005 with license(s) processor? Or should I buy the one with 5 cals ? Thanks ...

Purchasing SQL Server 2005

Feb 9, 2007

I have been tasked with determining which edition of SQL server 2005 to purchase for my business.

We currently have SQL server 2005 Enterprise Edition, although due to the spec of our laptops (operating system) we cannot install the full version of this on our laptops (2gb database capped limit)

The laptop specification is:
1.66 Ghz Intel Centrino Duo
1 Gb Ram
60 Gb HDD
Microsoft Windows XP Profressional Version 2002, SP2 (64 bit????)

I believe the Standard Edition will enable us to have an uncapped SQL Server 2005 database limit on the laptops.

Alternatively, please could anybody advise which edition should be purchased

Many thanks

Purchasing &"tickets&"

Dec 4, 2007

I want to enable my customers to purchase "tickets" that they can give their group who can then use when registering on my website, using the (prepaid) ticket number instead of paying. This way someone can buy a batch of these tickets and those numbers are reserved and once someone registers using that ticket number / id, then that number is no longer available. These tickets should be just like any other product, being added to a shopping cart etc, but once paid for the ticket # should be generated and should be unique to all other ticket#'s ever created.

ideas ? so far, Ive got the basic shopping cart and other product catalog part working, its just this idea of tickets that Im not sure how best to deal with. Here is a table im starting with

TicketID4int
SponsorUserID4int id of user who purchased ticket
OrderDate11datetime date ticket was purchased
FillDate11datetime date someone registered using this ticket
TicketNotes12varchar misc notes
TicketCode12varchar random and unique number

The basic idea here is that only once a successful payment has been made, is a Ticket record created. So if someone purchases 100 tickets, then this equates to 100 records.

ideas / suggestions welcome, thanks in advance
