Query Date Range SQL Data Source Control

Jan 24, 2008

I have a DB with the folloing fields... ArticleID, ArticleTitle, PublishDate(DateTime Field), EndPublishDate(DateTime Field).... What I want to do is show in a list view only the articles where the date is on or after the PublishDate and before or on the EndPubishDate.

I thought I could simply do something like this

SELECT     ArticleTitle, PublishDate, PublishEndDate, Published
FROM         UserArticles
WHERE     (Published = @Published) AND (PublishDate >= @PublishDate) AND (PublishEndDate <= @PublishEndDate)

Well I can't... can someone explain how I can do this please... I understand the the PublishDate and EndPublsihDate need a variable... The info is in the DB I just don't know how to do what I need to.

Thanks,

SQL Server 2008 :: Query To Select Date Range From Two Tables With Same Date Range

Apr 6, 2015

I have 2 tables, one is table A which stores Resources Assign to work for a certain period. The structure is as below

Name StartDate EndDate
Tan 2015-04-01 08:30:00.000 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000
Max 2015-04-01 08:30:00.000 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000
Alan 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000 2015-04-02 00:30:00.000

The table B stores the item process time. The structure is as below

Item ProcessStartDate ProcessEndDate
V 2015-04-01 09:30:10.000 2015-04-01 09:34:45.000
Q 2015-04-01 10:39:01.000 2015-04-01 10:41:11.000
W 2015-04-01 11:44:00.000 2015-04-01 11:46:25.000

C 2015-04-01 16:47:00.000 2015-04-01 16:49:25.000

I need to select the item which process in 2015-04-01 16:40:00 and 2015-04-01 17:30:00. Beside that I need to know how many resource is assigned to process the item in that period of time. I only has the start date is 2015-04-01 16:40:00 and end date is 2015-04-01 17:30:00. How I can select the data from both tables. There is no need for JOIN, just seperate selections.

Another item process time is in 2015-04-01 10:00:00 and 2015-04-04 11:50:59.

The result expected is

Table A

Name StartDate EndDate
Alan 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000 2015-04-02 00:30:00.000

Table B

Item ProcessStartDate ProcessEndDate
A 2015-04-01 16:30:10.000 2015-04-01 16:32:45.000

C 2015-04-01 16:37:00.000 2015-04-02 16:39:25.000

Scenario 2 expected result

Table A

Max 2015-04-01 08:30:00.000 2015-04-01 16:30:00.000

Table B

Item ProcessStartDate ProcessEndDate
Q 2015-04-01 10:39:01.000 2015-04-01 10:41:11.000

I am attempting to write a SQL query that retrieves info processed between two times (ie. 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm) during a date range (ie. 8/1/06 to 8/14/06)... I am new to SQL and am perplexed... I have referenced several texts, but have not found a solution. Even being pointed in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!!

Problem Using Parameter On SQL Source Data Control

May 15, 2006

I have an ASP page which uses an SQL data source control, as shown below:  <asp:SqlDataSource ID="mySQL" runat="server"       ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:mySQLConnectionString %>"      SelectCommand="SELECT device FROM device_table WHERE (device_id IN (@devicelist))">          <SelectParameters>              <asp:Parameter DefaultValue="" Name="devicelist" Type="String" />          </SelectParameters>  </asp:SqlDataSource>The problem is getting the "IN" clause of the select statement to work via the ASP page with code behind in C#.  If I test the query in the page designer when configuring the SQL control by inserting 'device-1','device-2','device-3' as the value for the "devicelist" parameter, everything works as expected.  However, when that same value is written programmatically into the DefaultValue of the parameter, the resulting query contains no results (as if the string contents are invalid).  If I alter my program to supply a single entry (with no commas) it seems to work as well.  I suspect the comma (and possibly the single-quote) characters in my string when multiple entries are involved are causing the issue. Is there a proper technique for getting the requisite quote-delimited, comma-separated list into the SQL control command parameter correctly?  Should I be using some sort of escape sequence for the single-quote and comma characters?  Should I be using another "type" for the parameter; one that accepts an array of entries?  I have not been able to find any examples or documentation that provides an answer.

Date Range Query

Apr 20, 2008

Hi there

I have a FileConsumptionDetail table which has [DataTime] every 30 minutes. Also, I have a schedule table with has range time and with certain condition.

Now I would like to query against these 2 tables what is the best approach to handle to do this due the process load is around 20,000 records. The end of result is sum of the Value1 of FileConsumptionDetail with the relevat schedule. I can probably using cursor and loop the 20,000 records of the data and check one by one whether that value is applied on that schedule table. Overkill .. I guess?

Here's the schema of the tables:

CREATE TABLE [dbo].[tnd_FileConsumptionDetail](
[FileConsumptionDetailID] [bigint] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
[FileConsumptionID] [bigint] NULL,
[Time] [datetime] NULL,

[IsJuly] [bit] NULL CONSTRAINT [DF_glb_Schedules_IsJuly] DEFAULT ((0)),
[IsAugust] [bit] NULL CONSTRAINT [DF_glb_Schedules_IsAugust] DEFAULT ((0)),
[IsSeptember] [bit] NULL CONSTRAINT [DF_glb_Schedules_IsSeptember] DEFAULT ((0)),
[IsOctober] [bit] NULL CONSTRAINT [DF_glb_Schedules_IsOctober] DEFAULT ((0)),
[IsNovember] [bit] NULL CONSTRAINT [DF_glb_Schedules_IsNovember] DEFAULT ((0)),
[IsDecember] [bit] NULL CONSTRAINT [DF_glb_Schedules_IsDecember] DEFAULT ((0)),
[DateCreated] [datetime] NULL CONSTRAINT [DF_GLB_ScheduleDetails_DateCreated] DEFAULT (getdate()),
[LastDateModified] [datetime] NULL CONSTRAINT [DF_GLB_ScheduleDetails_LastDateModified] DEFAULT (getdate()),
[IsActive] [bit] NULL CONSTRAINT [DF_GLB_ScheduleDetails_IsActive] DEFAULT ((1))

IsMonday - IsSunday is basically a flag for each day if it's a daily type of schedule.
IsJan - isDec is a flag for each month if it's a monthly type of schedule.

Regarding 2nd table design, i am not sure this is a best approach though and I am happy to change if it's easy to query.

Hope this clear and I am appreciated your comment.

Thanks

Hello,

I have a table called Event, this table has two fields called StartDate and FinishDate. On my application I want the user to be able to search for all the events for a certain date range. I am having some trouble getting my head around the code and was wondering if someone could offer some advice.

Some more details... the user can enter a from date, a to date or both. I can have separate sql code for each situation. The event.startdate and event.finishdate are never null and may contain a time value.

Thanks.

The UID in the connection string I am connecting under has the correct permissions in SQL server to do inserts, update and deletes too.  Anyone know why it would be greyed out? The connectionstring property in the aspx code is dynamic but this shouldn't be the reason because I have used this before with success

Transact SQL :: How To Query Records For A Date Range

Oct 14, 2015

This one is making my head hurt!  Trying to figure out how to query for records between date range.  The records have a start_date and an end_date field.  The end_date field maybe null.

For example, say you wanted to see the records of everyone checked into a hotel during a given date range.  You need to account for the people that checked in before you @start_date parameter and may check out after your @end_date parameter.

fyi- As for the null end_date field, think of this as they have checked in and not sure when they will checkout yet.

Query Of Set Time Range Relative To Current Date

Dec 26, 2013

I come in to work 6.30am, and need to audit what happened from 5pm when I left to 6.30am this morning. I have used code to search 13.5 hours back from any given time:

SELECT * FROM TRANSACTION_HISTORY
WHERE TRANSACTION_HISTORY.ACTIVITY_DATE_TIME > (SELECT DATEADD(hour,-13.5,(SELECT MAX (TRANSACTION_HISTORY.ACTIVITY_DATE_TIME) FROM TRANSACTION_HISTORY)))

Problem is if I run query later, I lose time from the start, eg. If I run query at 7am, I only get results from 5.30pm onwards. Rather than change criteria every day, I wanted to able to search from 6.30am of the current day, back to 5.30pm of the previous day.

Tricky Query, Get Inventory Count By Date Range

Mar 8, 2008

Hi,

My tables:

Product
- productID
- name
- price

Inventory
- productID
- stockCount
- timestamp

So each day the Inventory table has a new row for each productID with its stock count.

How can I create a report for the total products sold from one day to another? Or from what a dateStart from a dateEnd (i.e. a range)

Example:

ProductID StockCount TimeStamp
1 10 2008/03/07
1 7 2008/03/08

So you can see that 3 products were sold in the last day.

Date Range For Report Built Against A Cube Using MDX Query

Aug 2, 2007

Hi,
I am trying to filter data within my report by a date range (FromDate - ToDate), which is using a cube as a datasource.

My Issue:
I have the filtering working ok but if i select a date which is outside the range of the data within my cube for example if i select the starting date for the range as 1/Jan/1965 but by data starts from 15/Jan/1965 then no data is returned.

Within the MDX query within the STRTOSET function i am using 'constrained' which is around the date parameter i.e. StartDate for Range.

My question is has anyone or is it possible to use date values outside of the range of the data within my cube and get a correct dataset returned. If so could you please explain how with an example.

Many Thanks

Maxdate In Table Data (date Range)

Feb 4, 2004

Hi all, First post on THIS forum...so be kind (I have my nomex suite on anyway, and am flameproof, but STILL!)

I have a table that consists of a bunch-o-gibberish, but essentially looks like this (for the sake of discussion):

PK RecID int
PK StartDate smalldatetime
PK EndDate smalldatetime
Gibberish_1 varchar(zillions and zillions)
Gibberish_2 int

OK, my query (get it? *LOL* I kill me) is this:

My PK date range is essentially a range indicating a "validity date range" or in other words - "this record applys to dates from StartDate to EndDate".

If I insert a new row, that I want to be "valid" from today on into the forseeable future. I'm thinking I would enter it with StartDate = today, and would like to figure out a good "MAXDATE" type value to put in the EndDate column so that:

1) I can find a record using a single date (i.e., the current date) and find the validation record (as defined above) - - - I'm not concerned about this part of the question, as I can build the simple query to do so).

2) NOT have to keep adjusting the EndDate to keep it ahead of the current date so that the query into the range will work.

Essentially, my question is this: What is a good value to put in the EndDate to mean "infinity" - - that will still work when I query using a single date designed to find the validation record with a range that includes it?

My boss suggested something like "January 1, 2040", but this bothers me, since my kids may be working here then  and I don't want to have to force them into a Y2K-like issue where they now have to go adjust all the "maxdate" values. Anythoughts or conventions that I am unaware of here?

Thanks!
Paul

Reporting On Summarised Date Range Data

Mar 23, 2004

Hi all

Suppliers send my client sales figures in different formats. Some send data for each sale, some summarise by week, month or quarter.

I need to report on this data, showing estimates as to how many sales per day, week, month or quarter. To give you an example of the data I receive, see a simplified script below.

CREATE TABLE dbo.sales_summary (
summary_id int IDENTITY (1, 1) NOT FOR REPLICATION NOT NULL ,
start_date datetime NOT NULL ,
end_date datetime NOT NULL ,
number_of_sales int not null
)
GO

insert into sales_summary VALUES ( '20030101', '20030131', 100)
insert into sales_summary VALUES ( '20030101', '20030120', 150)
insert into sales_summary VALUES ( '20030111', '20030131', 200)
insert into sales_summary VALUES ( '20030201', '20030228', 120)
insert into sales_summary VALUES ( '20030201', '20030207', 50)
go

As you can see, I essentially receive a date range and a number of sales in each row. The data in the real system is received from more than 100 suppliers and the sales_summary table has more than a million rows in it.

Can anyone suggest an efficient way of being able to create a report that lists sales
- for each day
- for each week
- for each month
etc.

An example of the daily report might look something like

Date Number of Sales
01-Jan-03 20
02-Jan-03 0
03-Jan -03 15
etc.

An example of the weekly report might look something like

Week Starting Number of Sales
01-Jan-03 100
08-Jan-03 135
15-Jan-03 54
etc.

This has been driving me nuts for a while so any help is appreceiated.

StartDate : 01-Jul-2015
EndDate : 31-Dec-2015

It should return all the data which was active for that date range even if it was only for one day.If no data found for that date range, check the last record before start date and and if its active then it should be returned else not.

I though of creating a function and pass primary key with date range and return the final status but that doesn't seems like an optimized query.

Basically, for a specific PaymentDate range (29th July 2014 - 26th August 2014, inclusive) I want to select all orders where they only appear once in the orders table based on the CustomerID, so I only want to know about them if they have a paid order (decided by PaymentDate not being null) in that date range, but also taking into account if they have ever had a paid order outside of that date range. I need to generate query that will produce record set with start effective date and end date based on terminal and product. Table has over million records. In example below you could see table structure/data and desired outcome.

SELECT fmc_terminal, fmc_date = CAST(d. fmc_date AS DATETIME)
,d.fmc_prodlnk, d. fmc_cost
INTO #TestTable
FROM (
SELECT 1, '2014-12-03 00:04:00.000','A', 2.25 UNION ALL

[Code] ....

Expected outcome
fmc_terminalfmc_prodlnkfmc_cost StartDateEndDate
1A2.25 NULL2014-12-03 00:04:00.000
1A2.26 2014-12-03 00:04:00.0002014-12-03 11:33:00.000

And so on….

Find Existing Data Within A Date Range Change

Jul 30, 2014

We have records in one table that are marked as accepted/rejected based on eligibility start and end dates in another table. We're loading new eligibility data into an ETL table and if the start or end date is going to change, I want to report any records that need to be reviewed to see if their status should change. The new dates could be before or after the existing dates, and the new or existing end date could also be NULL. Currently I'm using 4 > < statements and it seems to catch any scenario, but I'm wondering if there's a better way:

DECLARE @RECORDS TABLE(RecordDate date,ID varchar(8))
INSERT INTO @RECORDS(RecordDate, ID)VALUES('20100101','99'),('20110101','99'),('20120101','99'),('20130101','99'),('20140101','99')
DECLARE @ORIGINALDATES TABLE(StartDate date,EndDate date,ID varchar(8))
INSERT INTO @ORIGINALDATES(StartDate,EndDate, ID)VALUES('20100101',NULL,99)

[code]....

SQL Server 2012 :: Day Wise And Date Range Calculation With Looping Or Dynamic Data?

May 14, 2015

I am using Sql Server 2012.

This is how I calculate the ratio of failures in an order:

31 Days Table 1 query
sum(CASE
WHEN (datediff(dd,serDATE,'2015-01-21')) >= 31 THEN 31
WHEN (datediff(dd,serDATE,'2015-01-21')) < 0 THEN 0
ELSE (datediff(dd,serDATE,'2015-01-21'))END) as 31days1 .

How do i loop and pass dates dynamically in the Datediff?

31 Failures Table 2 query
SUM(Case when sometable.FAILUREDATE BETWEEN dateadd(DAY,-31,CONVERT(DATETIME, '2015-01-21 23:59:00.0', 102))
AND CONVERT(DATETIME, '2015-01-21 23:59:00.0', 102)Then 1 Else 0 END) As Failures31,31 Day Cal(Formula) combining both Table 1 and Table 2
((365*(Convert(decimal (8,1),T2.Failures31)/T1.31day))) [31dayCal]This works fine when done for a specific order.

I want a similar kind of calculation done for day wise and month wise.

2. what approach should I be using to achieve day wise and month wise calculation?

I do also have a table called Calender with the list of dates that i can use.

Power Pivot :: One Slicer To Control Two Pivot Tables That Have Different Source Data And Common Key

Jul 8, 2015

I have two data tables:

1) Production data with column headers: Key, Facility, Line, Time, Output
2) Costs data with column headers: Key, Site, Cost Center, Time, Cost

The tables have a common key named obviously as Key. The data looks like this:

Key
Facility
Line
Time
Output
Alpha

I would like to have two pivot tables which I can filter with ONE slicer based on the column Key. The first pivot table shows row labels Facility, Line and column labels Time. Value field is Output. The second pivot table shows row labels Site, Cost Center, and column lables Time. Value field is Cost. How can I do this with Power Pivot? I tried by linking both tables above to a table with unique Keys in PowerPivot and then creating a PivotTable where I would have used the Key from the Keys table.
