I need to do the following task repeatedly. I have been doing it
manually until now and I am thinking if there is any way I could
automate the whole process.
Here is the task:
For a selected group of tables, I need to create an Excel file with one
worksheet per table. The worksheet contains information about the
table.
Here is an Example of Person table with fields PersonId, LastName,
FirstName ...
Column Name -> PersonId LastName FirstName ...
Type -> char char char ...
Length -> 6 50 50
Data -> P00001 Smith John ...
. P00002 Smith Joan ...
Here is my problem. I have a SSRS report that uses a SSAS cube for as it's datasource. I have a drop down parameter box where the user can select a year (2005,2006,2007,etc..) They click the View Report button and the report is generated. On one of the textboxes properties, on the navigation tab I have Jump to Report activated. I select the parameter from the receiving reports with the value of the dropdown box.
What I'm trying to do and can't, is to jump to that report passing the contents of the dropdown box. The receiving report is a SSRS report with a datasource being the SSAS. How do I make the receiving report open based on the parameter that was sent ??
I want to have a page break between the first set and the second set. The last subreport of the first set, Subreport6A, has a pagebreak at end = true, so it should break. The problem is that when I export to Excel I am getting one sheet for the 12 subreports.
I have two webservers and another server where the database resides.. and in my webservers i have reporting serverices set up.. in my Report server configuration manager for Webserver 1, in the database setup tab i am specifying the remote the database server which i want to connect and i am providing the correct username and passwords to connect to the remote databse and when i specify the remote database username and password i can see all the databases listed in that server. So in server name i have specified the name of the sql server.. and in the Database name i have specified ReportServer and given credentails type as sql server credentials and given the correct username and password..
But when i give apply i am getting an warning or error saying that The database version (c.0.8.54) does not match the Report service installation. This version cannot be upgraded. You must use a different database.
and in internet explorer if i give http:\localhost eports I get an error saying The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.8.54'. The expected version is 'C.0.8.40'. To continue update the version of the report server database and verify access rights.
Hi, I want to develop a monthly salary report for our employees. The salary is calculated on daily basis for individiaul employees. Thus the report is supposed to display Employee Name, ID etc + 31 columns (representing maximum days in a month). The report will display the employee basic information along with their salary calculation for each day. So its like 35 columns report. I already have used a cursor in my stored procedure with SQL Server 2005 to get this report (displayed in .NET Page) but the performance is more than worst and takes even 3-4 minutes to compile (which ofcourse is unacceptable). There are around 300 employees and they belong to different departments. When we select a given department, all the respective employees report has to be displayed. If i select All Departments, then the entire 300 employees report has to be displayed. I dont want to cache the data as it will have a big performance issue for the server. I want some good suggestion on how to develop a monthly report in SQL Server 2005 which can display the data with optimized performance. Kindly help of any guru will be highly appreciated. Regards...

The customer's goal is to via ReportBuilder to select fields from multiple many-to-many relationships. They are able to see the fields that exists within the various many-to-many relationships but IS ONLY able to select fields from ONE many-to-many relationship. Example using AdventureWorks:
So the goal in the ReportBuilder is to be able select fields from Contact/Vendor/Store/ and CreditCard. PROBLEM is that the ReportBuilder ONLY allows user to select fields from Contact/Vendor OR Contact/Store OR Contact/CreditCard (exclusively)
The only workaround I've found is to reverse the relationships in the DataSourceView to the following

In "Data" tab, I can see records for column 'sRCName' returned from the stored procedure(usp_GetRouteCodeData) after clicking '!' icon. When I moved to "Preview" tab, I am getting below error message. "The value expression for the textbox €˜sRCName€™ refers to the field €˜sRCName€™. Report item expressions can only refer to fields within the current data set scope or, if inside an aggregate, the specified data set scope."
Observation : there is no value returned from the dataset on 'Fields' panel. The SP is accessing a table called tblRCM. If I go to the Data--> Dataset --> Query, change the "Command Type" from 'Stored Procedure' to 'Text' and entered select * from tblRCM at Query string area, the report is running fine.
Issue: This issue only happens at my laptop, my team member can create the same report using the same stored procedure without any error. The database is sitting on a server.
In the troubleshooting process, I tried to create a simple report by calling a stored procedure(CustOrderHist) from NorthWind DB in my local SQL server, I am able to see the data/value in 'Fields' panel and sucessfully view the data in 'Preview' tab. Looks like the issue only happen on my machine, for a report that using stored procedure to access a DB sitting on a server.
I hope to hear from anyone who have encountered the similiar issue before, or, have any clue to resolve the issue.
1) - I need to get the RDL (the RDL format merged with the data, like a rendered report in RDL format) - to pass back to the client Report Viewer. Is there a way to do that? I do not see that as an optional output types.
2) - I need to export to a specific file/path from the client side Reportviewer.. Is this possible? Is there a lower level API for this?
In VS2008 SSRS, when creating a dataset, only the name of the stored procedure was required. When populating the dataset, VS prompted for the parameters, whether or not there were any. In VS2010, the name of the stored procedure is not enough if there are parameters.When creating a dataset in Visual Studio 2010 for databases and stored procedures in SQL 2012, I must provide (what should be) run-time parameters to obtain a field list and then to preview the report.Â
So the embedded dataset looks like this (wherein the only parameter is a password): exec dbo.spu_procedure1 @PW='999'.This works well and as expected during report design and development. But 999 must be provided at run-time by the requester, and not in the dataset definition. If I remove the parameter in the dataset's exec string before deploying the report, the field list is cleared and the report is unusable. So I cannot overcome what seems a contradiction: necessary to obtain a field list, but "yet-to-be-provided" when the user selects the report.
By keeping @PW='999' in the dataset specification, the user cannot override the parameter and automatically has a password to view the report. Â

my app contains one form (aspx) and it has different controls to be filled by user (textbox,radiobutton ..etc)it has one button which i want to use to pass values entered in these controls to other page and do some queries to sql server there (2nd page)Now the thing is ...my controls can have NULL values ...like user could enter just one parameter and hit button or user can fill 2 parameter and hit enter so on the other hand (2nd page) how should i query the database accordingly ....
I have some data that looks like this: field1(pk) field2 field3 563136 199535840A D2119562408 199615461C D2119562806 199748610A D2119547463 199748610A D2368562278 200255598A D2368562286 200255598A D2468 Field2 can have the same value. What I need is to return all records where field3 is not 'D2468' ever for field2. So with the above data, I'd want the first 4 records returned, but not 5 and 6 because for those field2 is the same value and in 6, field3 is 'D2468'. So, I can't simply say: SELECT a.field2FROM table1 a inner join table2 b on a.field2 = b.field2 and a.field5 = b.field5where a.field3 not like 'D2468' because it will still return record 5. Lets say i have 2 tables. One called 'Leads' and the other called 'Sales_Reps'. When a new lead comes in would like to assign it to the sales rep who has the least number of active leads. If there is a tie, I'll just assign it alphabetically between the sales reps who are tied with the least.

The newly generated column contains sequence numbers starting from 1 and the sequence should be resetted again to 1 whenever a new c3 value is encountered(for example when the c3 value changes from 101 to 102 the sequence should be resetted to 1).
