In the Reference_Master table I have Total count based on date for each RefCode. Can I get the total count of each RefCode by monthly wise for each year

Let's say if the date is 01/01/2015 till 01/01/2016
I want split these dates monthly format wise and then use them in variable in cursors to loop
For an example Monthly date should be 01/01/2015 and 01/31/2015 and use these two values in 2 variables and make a loop until it never ends whole date range which is 01/01/2016

I'm working with a table called SALFLDGAMS where it has two columns that I need to work with. One of the columns is Period which has years from 2000 to 2005 and the other column is called amount which has the balance for that year. Let me explain in a little more detail. There are account codes associated with the years as well so there will be many places where for example the year 2000 will show up with a given value. What I'm trying to do is to create a view which has a BeginBalance column which adds lets say all the values for 2000 and sticks them to 2001. So what I'm saying is all the values from the previous year I want them in the current year. All in one column. Thanks for the help guys.

I have a Monthlyexpense column. How do I Sum up this column and put the Total in my ytdexpenses column. Do I use a stored procedure, because I want the monthlyExpenses to SUm up every time I submit a monthly expense to the database and siplay in the ytdExpenses Column.
When I Write a Query all of the rows in the ytdExpenses shows the same amount and do not total up every time I submit to the database. Help please.

I have a table with constantly changing data - stock.
I want to start monitoring the value of stock at the end of each month. I can do this with a simple query, export the results to Excel and store on the network.
My question is:
Are there better ways to do this with SQL Server?
I thought of a monthly "job" that does the query and outputs to a file. (Need to be able to look at each month separately though for trend monitoring.)
Then wondered, if I should have an extra table to store the data and write queries on that in the future?

Hi,
I'm trying to do running total of the calculated field. Here is the detail of my RDL:
In a table, I have "textbox34" with the formula =count(Fields!ADF_NO.Value) in it and "textbox30" with the formula =first(Fields!TOTSTKS2.Value, "ProdServSales") - reportitems!TOTSTKS.value in it. I have divided "textbox 34" with "textbox30", and placed the results in "textbox36". Now, I want to do a cummulative total (Running total) of "textbox36", using the formula =runningvalue(reportitems!textbox36.Value, sum, nothing) in "textbox14". Its giving me an error saying:
"[rsAggregateReportItemInBody] The Value expression for the textbox 'textbox14' uses an aggregate function on a report item. Aggregate functions can be used only on report items contained in page headers and footers."
Any suggestions? I appreciate your help on this.

I am currently working on a T-Sql query(Sql server 2008) to calculate total no of days between date ranges by year
Table:
Start Date End Date
01/01/2013 04/30/2014
11/01/2014 05/31/2015
06/01/2015 12/31/2015
My expected result.
2013 - 365
2014 - 181
2015 - 365
Note:
Date range can span b/w  multiple years
Date ranges will not overlap
I just want the total number of days covered by the range for each year.
Is there any simple way to do this calculation.

A running total depending on the ID, Year and Month. Although I showed this for two steps I need to get it from one query.
Question is - To get a running total based on ID, Year, Month. If I do the normal group by and sum query I could get it for all the months for each id. But need to then add January value to February and updated February value.

I have a question regarding ROLLUP and how to use the operator.
I've been asked to retrieve a list showing the total repair cost per year displaying Transport Type, Manufacturer and Transport. The query I used is:

I'm trying to develop a query that provides sales data by Customer.GroupCode in monthly columns as depicted below:

Here€™s a simplified version of the DDL:

The query below gets me close but it gives me gives me one row for each customer. So if I have 5 customers with the same group code, I get 5 rows for that group code. I need to modify it or come up with a different approach that gives me only one row for each GroupCode.

I have the following script that calculates Sales by month and current year.
We run a Fiscal year from April 1st thru March 31st.
So April 2012 sales are considered Fiscal Year 2013.
Is there a way I can alter this script to get Fiscal Year Totals?

I have three web form controls, a ddl that contains the day, another ddl that contains the month and a textbox that contains the current year. To send the date chosen by the user to the database, I join the three web form control values so that the resultant string is ‘day/month/year’ thus:
CmdInsert.Parameters("@Date").Value = day.SelectedItem.Value + "/" + month.SelectedItem.Value + "/" + year.Text()
And the resultant string is: dd/mm/yyyy, for example 30/08/2004.
But the problem is if the user does not select any day or any day and month, then the resultant string is for example; 00/08/2004 or 00/00/2004, but the problem is the database does not accept this format as datetime. How can I do it?
I want the user has the possibility to chose as well only the month and year, and as well only the year. Is it possible to send to the database the datetime format with only the month and year, or only the year?

I am using vs 2010 to write my dtsx import scripts.I use a script component as a source to create a flat file destination file.Everything have been working fine,but then my development machine crashed and we have to install everything again.Now when i use the execute package utility to test my scripts i get the following error:
Error system.NullReferenceException: Object refrence not set to an instance reference.
In PreExecute section

I am writing a usage query, I need to determine what the current month and year is. If the current month is 1, then I need Year-1. I keep getting this error Line 5: Incorrect syntax near '='.
If I comment out the case statement just evaluate the (YEAR(User_Date) = YEAR(DATEADD(yy, - 1, GETDATE())))or (YEAR(User_Date) = YEAR(GETDATE())) by itself, the query works. What I am missing? I am using the query below and it is working great to give me montly averages. I need to find the fiscal year to date averages for the same data. I think all I should need to change is the Select and Group by sections but I am having no sucess.

I need to write something in T-SQL which will return a record set from a table of IT hardware. The record set should comprise all items that are older than 3 years from the current date. Each hardware item has a purchase date against it so it should not be too difficult. I am considering the DATEDIFF function but I am not sure how best to write it.

I'm using PHP with SQLServer2k to create a page containing monthly counts of episodes at a facility occurring between two user selected month/year combinations. For instance, the user could select 10/2003 and 2/2004 and facility X and get a line for each month showing the count of episodes occuring in that month.
The problem is that the episode date is stored in three integer fields (epiday, epimonth, epiyear) and I'm having a terrible time getting them into a format where I can use them in a between statement.
I've tried evaluating the parts of the episode date seperately like:
where
(epimonth>=10 and epiyear=2003)
or
(epimonth<=2 and epiyear=2004)
and that works, but what happens when someone wants to see from 10/2002 to 2/2004?
Any suggestions on the best way to do this?
