I have had Reporting Services installed on my servers since SQL05 came out everything has worked fine. Recently we have had to implement €œRequire Client Certificates€? in IIS. This breaks Reporting services. When I try to access with https://fullyQulifiedServerName/reports/pages/folder.aspx. I get a 403: Forbidden Error. Note that if I change the setting in IIS for the ReportServer node only from €œRequire Client Certificates€? to €œAccept Client Certificates€?. RS works again. The requirement is to "Require Client Certificates". Does any one have a fix for this.
The Server has winsvr2003
RS is configure like this
Report Manager Virtual Directory
Name Reports
Website = Default
Report Server Virtual Directory
Name = ReportServer
Website = Default
Require SSL Connections = Checked
For all Soap API€™s (level 3)
Certificate Name = FullyQulifiedServerName
When I try to view the report, I got the error "The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden. ". And in the event log , I got the detaiil excception:

I'm using reporting service 2005, does anybody know the reason?
Hi,I am gradually tearing my hair out and other bits of my anatomy tryongto get web access to my reportserver.Currently I can access the rportmanager via a web interface andconfigure user access etc etc, at which point the fun begins.When I try to browse to the URLhttp://domain/reportserver?/reachUmobile/Users I get a 403 error,so.....I check the permissions on the directory and the web directories andadd what I think are the user accounts needed to access these resourcesbut unfortunately I am at a position where I have added EVERY useraccount with FULL control to both the directories AND the reportmanager via the web browser.I cant possibly add any more user/permissions and I have been trying tofind the problem for a day now and getting rather "angry"..Anyway, apologies if there is not enough info here but if any of youguys know of any good resources that are available (I have triedbooks/web etc) then I would be grateful for any pointers to debugging,logs etc (I have checked the usual logs and nothing!)Short of uninstalling the report server I have tried everything, and Idont really want to go that route as the previous developer didn;tleave me the report project (.NET). bugger....Anyway really appreciate some help on this..Many thanksRichardplace in the url create and update the settings for all my datasourcesvia the reportmanager.2.
I have a Data Flow Task with an OLE DB Source containing this query:
SELECT Batch_Idx, Package, FailureSource FROM Audit.ProcessPackage WHERE (Status = 2) AND (Batch_Idx > ?) and FailureSource IS NOT NULL
At this point, before sending the data to the Recordset Destination, I would like to do a Row Count, and do something different depending on if there are any rows or not. When I try to put in the Row Count after the OLE DB Source, I get this error:
"The component has forbidden the requested use of the input column with lineage id xxx"
My variable for the RowCount results is RowCount and it is declared at package level. I have tried to use all each of the columns as input columns, and I get the error for every one. Do you know how I can fix this error? Thank you!
I wish http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1865928&SiteID=1 had the resolution to my issue but it doesn't.
Long story short, I thought I'd build a local web service with the same signature as something another team was doing. In Visual Studio, you can click on the project and select Publish.
One of the options is to "Delete all existing files prior to publish." I was unfamilar with this option and it does exactly what it claims to do: my inetpubwwwroot folder is clean as a whistle. I was expecting it to only delete what it had put out there but apparently not.
We have a deploy process here so the web work and the reports I've developed can and have been dropped back out there, no harm done. I recreated the virtuals for Reports and ReportServer and something is amiss. I can navigate to http://localhost/Reports/ and it's fine, it displays the folders I had created. I can click into the folders and see the reports I had deployed just fine. However, when I actually click on a report, it starts to serve the content but then chokes and dies on rendering. It then indicates "The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden."
I have gone through a fellow developer's machine and compared the IIS settings between the two machines and they appear to be the same.
Auth is set to Integrated Windows I have restarted iis (iisreset) as well as followed up with a bounce to the "SQL Server Reporting Services (MSSQLSERVER)" service It's all using the 2.0.507270.0 engine
Using the Microsoft Patterns and Practices "Object Builder" (Dependency Injection/Builder library), I wrote an SQL CLR Stored Procedure (using VS 2005 Professional).
All compiles and deploys ok (to SQL Server 2005 Express).
However, at run-time, I get the following error upon a "BuilderContext" object's instantiation: {"Attempted to perform an operation that was forbidden by the CLR host."}
Thoughts on how to get ObjectBuilder working in the SQLCLR?
Thanks!
Andy
(posted below is the sample code...with the run-time exception occuring on the ...BuilderContext cxt = new ... call)
Microsoft.Practices.ObjectBuilder.BuilderStrategyChain chain = new Microsoft.Practices.ObjectBuilder.BuilderStrategyChain();
Microsoft.Practices.ObjectBuilder.Locator locator1 = new Microsoft.Practices.ObjectBuilder.Locator(null);
// Get error when new'ing BuilderContext: "Attempted to perform an operation that was forbidden by the CLR host." Microsoft.Practices.ObjectBuilder.BuilderContext cxt = new Microsoft.Practices.ObjectBuilder.BuilderContext(chain, locator1, null);
I have trying to execute the Sendmail task in my development envinorment i face this error..I have given the clear details error message below,Please have a look.
[Send Mail Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Failure sending mail. System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions ".Alternatively i use the SMTP connection to create the subscription as well,its working properly.
Here we are accessing SMTP connection manager as Virtually.Here in my client network we are using Macafee Anti virus ,We have excluded the Rsconfigration file in the excluded list.I dont know why this problem occures again using Sendmailtask in ssis?
I am using http to access my cube (MS Analysis Server) and there are userswho are getting "Query could not be processed. Access is forbidden"intermittently. Can someone help out and let me know what is causing thisissue? Some users are not getting this error.
I have a web application that runs on IIS on Windows XP professional. I have reached the max number of connections to the IIS website. So, I tried the approach of disabling HTTP Keep-Alives.
All is fine and dandy until my Business Intelligence Studio report project attempts to set the parameters for a report using report viewer at which point I get the following error message:
"The request failed with http status 401: access denied."
How can I fix this? I have posted this over at the asp.net forums, but I figured I would check here to see if anyone else has solved this problem.
Re: Possible Vista-only security issue opening a TCP connection to SQL2005
Please help. I have a problem that appears to be rare. I'm testing the culmination of a year's work and the error I'm getting is at the most basic level (the SQL connection) while everything else so far is working as coded.
My client is Windows Vista, apparently no firewall (I say apparently as in recent years MS have put more and more facades over the actuality of the operating systems), my server is Windows 2003 Server b3790 SP2 with SQL 2005 Standard 1399.06, again no firewall.
PortQuery 2.0 reckons that the server is listening on port 1433, too, so it doesn't seem like a firewall issue.
Nothing reported in either Event Viewers.
Here's the stack dump:

And here's the connection string, which is built using the SqlConnectionStringBuilder:
I have tried an old project which used to connect to the same server using a more basic connection string (it was a project which populated my Research db with fake data) and it also fails. When I ran this project successfully I'm pretty sure it was on an XP client.
I have also ran my TestHarness .exe on another client (WinXP) and it appears to pass this point and raises an exception that I believe is caused at a later point - so it looks like a Vista client issue.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Luke
P.S. Some losely related thoughts; the MSDN forum system still logs me out on Vista when I try to submit a thread, please sort this out! You can't expect your customers to run around deleting cookies. Also, when will you finally deprecate the default Named Pipes!? And finally, having that "does not allow remote connections" error spewed out with all connection errors is a really bad design choice, in my opinion.
I'm currently receiving the following error message whilst attempting to install SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on Windows Server 2003 (32 Bit): Error 29528. The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Installing performance counters. The error is: The system cannot find the file specified.
This server already has an install of SQL Server 2000 as the default instance. I'm attempting to install a new named instance of SQL Server 2005.

You can ignore this and it will complete the installation, but subsequently trying to patch with SP2 will fail on the same sections - Hotfix.exe crashes whilst attempting to patch Database Services, Integration Services and Client Components (3 separate crashes).
I've removed SQL Server 2005 elements and tried to re-install, but it's not improved the situation.
I have an File System Task that copies a file from one directory ot another. When I hard code the target directory (c:dirfile.txt) it works fine. When I change it to a virtual directory (\serverdirfile.txt) I get a security error:

I cannot execute a package by using Execute Package task. I supplied sa credentials to connection manager, and it shows the list of Packages on SQL Server but when running the task it says

I am running dts in Sql Server 2005 management studio from Management, Legacy and data Transformation Services.
Once the dts has run, I get this error message "Error Source : Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) Package Error Description : Error accessing Windows Event Log."
We have reports deployed in the Report Server. While connecting from client, we are getting the error "An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. rsInternal Error)"
Then we went to Report Server, Reporting Service and SQL Server service are all are running fine.
Important thing is some time the reports are working fine, sometimes i am receiving this error. Please help.
We predict whether the services are automatically restarted or transaction logs exceeding the limit or any other parameters to set to avaoid this error?
I'm trying to use an XML Task to do a simple XSLT operation, but it fails with this error message:
[XML Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "There are multiple root elements. Line 5, position 2.".
The source XML file validates fine and I've successfully used it as the XML Source in a data flow task to load some SQL Server tables. It has very few line breaks, so the first 5 lines are pretty long: almost 4000 characters, including 34 start-tags, 19 end-tags, and 2 empty element tags. Here's the very beginning of it:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <ESDU releaselevel="2006-02" createdate="26 May 2006"><package id="1" title="_standard" shorttitle="_standard" filename="pk_stan" supplementdate="01/05/2005" supplementlevel="1"><abstract><![CDATA[This package contains the standard ESDU Series.]]></abstract>
There is only 1 ESDU root element and only 1 package element.
Of course, the XSLT stylesheet is also an XML document in its own right. I specify it directly in the XML Task:
I have the error above, but no error log. I can preview the sub report - but this main report fails after working this morning. This is for internal company reports and I rebuilt this one after converting from access. I have looked where the error logs should be, but there are no error logs. I rebuilt the query as I needed to change this, but this did not help. Is there someone who could point me in the correct direction.
I'm running Vista Ultimate. SQL 2005 is set as my Default instance, and SQL2000 is set as (local)SQL2000.
Today, actually half way through today, I restarted my computer after installing Photoshop Updates.
Upon getting my computer back up and running, I cannot access SQL2000 from any website on my computer, nor can I access it from SQL2005 Management Stdio. I CAN access it from Enterprise Manager (SQL2000 tool).
Whenever I run an web app that connects to it I get this error:
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
Now I usually get these when ASP.NET can't point to the right spot, but in this case I'm pointing exactly where I need to go. Any thoughts?

I should also add my password got changed a few days ago on our Domain. This was the first time restarting after the PW change.

Hi, I have application in which i am performing synchronization between SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 CE. I have one table "ItemMaster" in my database.There is no relationship with this table,it is standalone.I am updating its values from Windows Mobile Device.
I am performing below operations for that. Step : 1 Pull To Mobile
Code BlockmoSqlCeRemoteDataAccess.Pull("ItemMaster", "SELECT * FROM ItemMaster", lsConnectString,RdaTrackOption.TrackingOn);
Step : 2 Using one device form i am updating table "ItemMaster" table's values.
So i am getting an error on 3rd step. While i am trying to push it says, "The Push method returned one or more error rows. See the specified error table. [ Error table name = ]". I have tried it in different ways but still i am getting this error.
Note : Synchronization is working fine.There is not issue with my IIS,SQL CE & SQL Server 2k.
Can any one help me?I am trying for that since last 3 days.
Recently in an SSIS package I am getting the following error for a particular Data flow task.
Error: 2008-01-25 12:01:48.58
Code: 0xC0202009

End Error

Source: Import Datasynapse Data DTS.Pipeline
Description: component "User Events Source" (3017) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC0202009.
End Error
Our guess is when the data size of User Events table is more it throws this error. If we try to transfer small subset of data it succeeds. What could be reason for this error?
Since this is very urgent, immediate response would be very much appreciated.

I have a web application developed in VS.NET 2005 [using C# as code behind]; and it uses SQL Server 2000 Enterprise edition as backend. The application runs fine, though it gives an error on IRREGULAR intervals on SQL data requests. Error Details: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
My problem is this: 1) Why does it show an error of SQL 2005, while I use SQL 2000. SQL 2005 is not even installed on the server, though VS.NET 2005 is installed. 2) The error comes only at irregular intervals. Users are able to login properly otherwise. 3) Application starts working again if we do either of the following: (a) Restart IIS (b) Restart application pool (c) Restart server. 4) Named pipes and TCP/IP are added to the "Network Configuration" of the SQL server 2000. 5) Error does not come on any specific page; or any specific code; or at any specific time. 6) We do not have any background service or any other activity happening on the server; and the server hosts only this application, within a single virtual root.
Any thoughts on why is this happening, and how to resolve this?
