Hi all,
We installed RS on a non default website on our IIS server. When targeting the Reports page from the server itself (http://site:8015/Reports) we can see the welcome page. However if we try to access that same page from another machine we get a generic IE message: IE cannot open the specified page check your internet connection etc. Because the error is so generic I have no idea as to what can be the cause: IIS or RS config ? I suspect IIS because no RS error is raised but then I don't see what I could've missed on that level...
Any ideas of what could be the cause of this ?
thanks a lot
Notes:
- the DB and the RS instance are on the same server
- other sites hosted on the same server are accessible from the client machine
- Anonymous access is enabled on the site level, and on the Reports / ReportServer level. I tried unsetting it but it didn't change anything for the remote client.
- I tried changing the account RS is running under: it used to be LocalSystem, I now set it to NT AuthorityNetworkService but no difference.

I recently have configured my Web Server based on Windows 2003 Server and IIS 5x. I'd also installed SQL Server 2005 into this. Now I want toc onfigure this SQL Server, so that my client can access their database through a DNS name. I request you all for your kind support in this regard. Thanks in advance.

I would like to be able to change the configuration of a remote machine`s SQL client config. Can anyone provide me with the registry location of where it stores the protocol and libraries? Can`t always depend on having someone at remote to run the SQL client app.
Hello all,I know that this is a long shot, but I have a problem which someonereading this group *may* just be able to shed some light on.We have a new internal personnel planner/attendance system in place. Ituses a web interface to allow members of staff to select their sitelocation for any week, request leave and record absences. The server-side scripting is composed of VB/ASP and Javascript whichultimately queries & writes to an MS SQL Server 2000 database via anODBC connection between webserver (IIS6.0).Here is the problem and I *know* that it sounds unlikely/impossible butwe carried out exhaustive tests.-> I open a web browser on my local PC (XP Pro SP2)-> Login to the web-based planning system-> Update information-> Submit ChangesAt this point I get a script error:---error message---Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e14'[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Line 1: Incorrect syntaxnear ')'./staff/wfp/Whereabouts/writeAbsence_v2_5.asp, line 108-------------------Which is fair enough as it probably points to a problem with the SQLstatement being passed by the .asp page.***BUT*** I _only_ get this message when I access the page via a browserfrom certain PCs!I have tried 3 browsers: MSIE6, Firefox1.5, Opera8.5.I have obviously ensured that it isn't any kind of browser caching issue.I have no issues using scripted-based web pages in general from the PCin question.I have checked the regional settings to ensure that I am using astandard character set.I *can* submit database changes via web browsers from most other PCs onour network, without incurring the error message.Even when I get the error message, the values are written to the db andthe information is updated. The other PCs from which I am experiencing the same difficulty areservers running Win2000 & Win2003 respectively. Is there any kind of OS/User Profile setting which would mean thatscripts running on a remote webserver would fall over when trying toperform an SQL write?Could it be some kind of character encoding issue, which means that theparameters that are received by the .asp script and then written via theSQL statement are mangled in any way?I can't see that there is any kind of local setting that would influencewhether remote scripts would or would not cause an error such as this.If anyone has any ideas, has encountered anything similar or can shedlight on a system-specific setting or feature that may cause this, please post your thoughts.Yours GratefullyGuy
I am a VB6 programmer and I'm really new to SQL Express, I have always used ACCESS because it was so easy to deploy. I've now written a VB6 program which uses SQL Express and I want to know how to deploy it. Basically my PC will host the SQL database as it has SQL Express loaded onto it. I now want to install my EXE onto other Client's PC and have them read/write to the database on my machine.
Besides the EXE program, what software do I need to load onto the Client's PC so they can access my SQLExpress database...? (eg: Net Framework, SQLExpress, etc).
Also, if my machine is called ABC123, in my connectionstring do I just put in
ABC123sqlexpress as the datasource..?. Will this be enough for the other PCs to connect to mine ?
I currently develop/maintain VB 05' apps for PDA's and desktops. I've got a scanner app that scans labels to build/transmit orders via an HTTP byte stream. I'm currently building an inventory app that resides at the remote client (windows not web) and can eventually connect to my SQL Server @ corp. At this point SQL 2005 endpoints work on the internal network but fail to resolve remotely. I've read about connecting to a SQL Server via HTTP with ip specs embedded in the connect string but havnt been able to find an example. Outside of creating a VPN for connectivity, can anyone recommend connection ideas for my scenario? Is it true that endpoints are only recommended for intranet consumption?
If I look under SQL native client configuration | Client protocols, I have no entries and no ability to look at the properties of SQL Native client Configuration. Something is missing which I think is related to an error when connecting to my local server.
sqlcmd -E -S .devmain, 1064
I get error :
Encryption not support sqlcmd: Error: microsoft SQL native Client : Client unable to establish connection
An error has occurred while establish a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections..
In comparison to other machines here at work, it appears my remote connections are configured. But I have no Client Protocols under sql native client configuration, how can I get them in there?
I have written a VB component to execute a SSIS package stored in SQL server.
I am using the Microsoft.sqlserver.dts.dtsclient, dtsconnection/dtscommand
and executereader and everything works perfect on the local machine. This is descibed in a msdn site .
But my customer have a remote SQL server and want no extra BI clients/SQL server clients etc on the client machine, only an ordinary windows client and network connection to the SQL server.
My question is: Can you still use dtsclient or do you have to do in some other way?
i connect to remote Integration Service. i configure server for remote connection( on component services and DCOM config , ... ) .and now i can connect to Integration Service remotely and correctly.
but when i expand Stored Package and then click to expand MSDB this error will hapen:
login failed for user ... .(microsoft sql native client )
We some how is not able to entre to sql executive with the sa name and password and so not able to see the context of the database. we are not able to access the databeses either. We want a solution whereby I can change the SA login or give him the administrator right to do everything with the database.
Hi, i use sql server express 2005. There are several databases which all works fine. My problem is: when i try to expand one database in Management Studio express, i get for that database (not for others): "the database 'mydb' is not accessible (microsoft.sqlserver.objectexplorer)" and that's it. I can't see tables nor any objects of that db, while the application still can insert records into tables of that db. When i run this query: select * from master..sysdatabases i see all the databases (also 'mydb') with the same mode, status ... Thanks Tartuffe
I changed the Administrator Password on our Server. I also changed the sa password for the SQL Server to match. Ever since then, if one of my web pages attempts to retrieve data, the user get the error:
SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
This is strange because my pages do not use the sa account in order to retrieve data. I have a copy of MS Access installed locally on the server. Using it I can access the SQL Server data with linked tables. So the SQL Server is obviously servicing internal requests.
I tried changing the passwords back again, but the problem still persists.
I am trying to expose a stored procedure on SQL Server 2005 as a web service. So I just have an end point created with the procedure as my web method. Now when I try to reference this web service in my C# windows application, I am only able to see the procedure definition by requesting for the WSDL http://servername/path?wsdl. But when I try to reference it, I get the error 501/505 - Not Implemented or not supported. Any ideas what the issue here could be? Would really appreciate the help here as I am kinda stuck! - Thanks, Manmeet
I am setting up a web application, where the application needs to access a database. I have created the user (for the application) and it can log in to the SQL 2005 Sp2 server, but when I try to open the required database using Server Management Studio, it says "The database [name] is not accessible. (ObjectExplorer)"How do I make a database accessible to a login, using Server Management Studio?
We have two Baan erp servers 1) SQL2005 on windows 2003 server 2) SQL2000 on windows 200 server.
SQL 2005 server has two database instances, one being the default and the other one as a named instance.
We have been trying to access the data in these two database instances from the second server for our baan erp application on it. Now, we are able to see the data for default instance, but if we try to fetch the data from named instance we end up getting dberror 17.
We tried to register the named instance on the second server using "new sql server registration wizard" in sql 2000 enterprise manager, but there also the list only shows the default instance from sql 2005 server. I tried to type in the named instance and register (both windows and sql server authentication), but end up getting error "Database instance doesn't exist or access denied".
So, for some reason, the named instance from sql 2005 server is not getting published on the network. Please suggest some ways to get around this issue.
Re SQL Server 2005 ExpressWhen I attempt to copy the master file for backing up, it is being used byanother application, even after shutting down the PC completely and poweringit up again. What can I do to make back-ups?Zach
Last week we reset the Model datable to autogrow. Now I get an error when I try to go into it. (I discovered this since I can no longer go into the interface of the program). I wasn't here when the changes were made to the Database Model, but the change was made because the transaction log was filled up.
Ain't sure if this is the right place. but anyway, here is the situation. I have 2 PCs and both are running Windows XP (A is using SP 2 and B is using SP 1) which are connected via a router and A can ping B and vice versa. I have SQL 2000 installed on A, so how do i go about setting up B so that B can access the database and tables of SQK 2000?Thanks.
Hi everybody, There are times when the database (SQL 7.0) cannot be accessed ( backup, routine maintenance, etc....) from asp page. In those cases i am getting an ugly asp error message. Is there a way ( code ) which will trap that error and return a nicer custom message for user or something like that. Thanks a lot,
I added a linked server successfully; but the only tables accessible areonly the system tables!I do have all the rights on both servers (Windows & SQL server). All the non system tables are designated as DBO.Strange thing is that I was able to access the non system tables onlyfrom the query analyzer (not from the SQL Manager tree) by using thefollowing script:EXEC sp_addlinkedserver 'LINKED_SERVER_NAME', N'SQL Server'GOSet ANSI_NULLS onSet ANSI_WARNINGS onGOSelect * From LINKED_SERVER_NAME.Database_name.DBO.table_nameGOThank you very muchMike*** Sent via Developersdex http://www.developersdex.com ***
I've a very basic doubt about database mirroring. I did setup a database mirroring session with the help of SQL Server Management Studio between the server A (db1) and B(db1). When is stop database mirroring by using the command button "Stop Mirroring" available in the mirroring page of SQL Server Management Studio , the mirror database{ B(db1) } goes to state "Restoring...". After stopping the mirroring i'm not able to access the mirror database.
Can you please tell me how to bring mirror database B(db1) to operation mode so that we can start working with that database?
I was wondering if there is an easy way to loop through all contraints in a database and programmatically set the cascade delete to ON. I have a database with hundreds of contraints, so individually setting cascade delete on them is not optimal.
Thanks for any info in advance!
I think that the constraints are simply held in one of the system datatables, is there anyway to simply update that table?
I was using windows authentication and later changed to SQL server authentication so that i can connect to java netbeans.i went to the security and login under the object explorer to set a username and password for the sql server authentication.it successfully login but cant open any of the my database created earlier.it gives database not accessible error.
I have Active Active Cluster with 2 nodes , on the first node I can execute the queries, but when I trying to execute query or just open a DB to see the tables I getting error:"The Database XX is not accessible. (ObjectExplorer)".
I am trying to create an assembly object when a report is initialized and I am getting the error:
[rsCompilerErrorInExpression] The BackgroundColor expression for the textbox 'textbox2' contains an error: [BC30390] 'ReportExprHostImpl.CustomCodeProxy.X' is not accessible in this context because it is 'Private'
In the Code tab, I have: Dim X As namespace.classname Protected Overrides Sub OnInit() X = new namespace.classname() End Sub
In my color field, I have "=code.X.color" If I replace the color field with "=namespace.classname.color" and have color be a shared property, then it works. However, I ultimately need the color to be based on individual user settings, so I cannot use the shared property approach.
Any ideas on how to get around this "because it is private" error?
FYI, I am trying to replicate the concept of themes using report formatting information pulled from a database.
