Rank Query - Compare 2 Total Income Fields?

Apr 24, 2015

I have a query that ranks. Once I get the ranked fields is there a way to compare the 2 total_income fields?

Here's the query:

select * from
(
select cardholderid, appcnum, total_income ,Rank() over (PARTITION BY A.APPCNUM
ORDER BY A.EFFSTARTDATE DESC) as Rank
from
TBL_EPIC_BILLSTATUS A
) tmp
where Rank in (2,3) and CARDHOLDERID = '704355'
--------------and rank ((2),total_income) <> rank (3),total_income))

Looking to do something like this to see if the income is different

#Error In Total Fields

Jan 17, 2007

I am getting a #error in my subtotal and total fields,
I have data in a field (on a table) as follows which displays 0.00 if there is a zero in the divide by field, otherwise it performs the divide and gives me a percentage difference from the two fields.
This works fine

=iif(Fields!REPCYINC.Value=0,0,(Fields!REPCYINC.Value) / iif(Fields!REPCYPROD.Value=0,1,Fields!REPCYPROD.Value)) * 100

Yet when i try to get this in a total field by doing an AVG it fails, and gives #error, please help, no matter how many iifs a wrap aroun dit it doesnt help.

This is the statement that #error's

=round(avg(iif(Fields!REPCYINC.Value=0,0,(Fields!REPCYINC.Value) / iif(Fields!REPCYPROD.Value=0,1,Fields!REPCYPROD.Value)) * 100) ,2)

SQL- How To Compare Max Date Across Fields

Jan 4, 2006

Hello, I am wondering how to select the max date from a database view containing multiple date fields for a particular record. I am rusty at SQL and can't seem to get started. Here's an example of the data:

PRCL_IDPROJ_STRT_DTORD_DT ...
1242/3/20063/5/2006
5206/3/20068/2/2006
6412/31/2005
1872/14/20063/16/2006

I need to be able to compare the max date for each PRCL_ID record ("where prcl_id="). In the example above, prcl_id 124 has a max date of 3/5/2006, and prcl_id 520 has a max date of 8/2/2006, etc. The results of the SQL query should return the PRCL_ID and the max date.

Example query results:

PRCL_ID ORD_DT
124 3/5/2006

Please let me know if you can help or if I can provide more info.

Thanks,
Alexkav

Compare Fields In 2 Tables

Jan 30, 2008

For example, I have 2 tables that have very similar fields

Table 1 Table 2
ShipRpt ShipRpt
invoice invoice
total sold total sold

Is it possible to compare each of these fields and return any record that has non matching data? I would join the tables on the shipping report or invoice and only compare the total sold field. If the invoices match and the total sold is different in each table, can I just return the 1 record?

Compare Fields From Two Datasets

Jan 9, 2007

Hello,
How can I solve this problem.
For example, I have two databases. db1 and db2.
I want to compare two float fields from tables from db1 and db2 and the present the difference between these fields in a column in reporting services.

ex. loop1
value from db1.table_db1
4

value from db2.table_db2
6

diff
2

ex. loop2
value from db1.table_db1
2

value from db2.table_db2
2

diff
0

..continues...

Should I create 2 datasets and 2 datasources? Must I write custom code for this?

Regards

Cannot Compare NVarChar(Max) Fields Over 4000 Chars

Oct 24, 2006

I had a post a week or so ago with this issue, I found the cause, but cannot figure out how to fix it... The problem is the comparison on the NVarChar(Max) fields when one of them exceeds 4000 chars. If I comment out the following lines of the stored proc, everything works. I tested without using COALESCE and it still does not work. COALESCE(Comments, '') = COALESCE(@o_Comments, '') ANDCOALESCE(SpecialNotes, '') = COALESCE(@o_SpecialNotes, '') ANDCOALESCE(IAppComments, '') = COALESCE(@o_IAppComments, '') ANDCOALESCE(MgmtNotes, '') = COALESCE(@o_MgmtNotes, '') AND  set ANSI_NULLS ON
set QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON

Rank The Employees By Count And Amount (was Query Help)

May 11, 2006

I have a query that returns a result that looks like this:

amount count
steve 122000 12
jim 145213 13
paul 62325 7

I need to add 2 columns to this query that rank the employees by count and amount with a number, so for example:

amount amount_rank count count_rank
steve 122000 2 12 2
jim 145213 1 13 1
paul 62325 3 7 3

I was going to paste the entire query in but I thought I'd try this first to see if I could get by with a hint. So essentially I need to evaluate with an order by or something and then insert a number as amount_rank and number as count_rank.

Any ideas?

Compare Fields-two Flat Files-load Data

Jul 13, 2007

Hi All,

I am totally new to SSIS and im in the learing phase. I have a requirement as below,

I have two flat files (mainframe files), the structure i have given below,

File1:

070113

12345johnk

23456james

1st row is header record which has got date in YYMMDD format and remaining rows have emp no and emp name

File2:

070113

070113

070113

070113

contains 4 records which are dates.

The requirement is to compare the header date in file1 with the 4 dates in file2, if they are equal then it should load all the records in file1 except the header into a table and if they donot match then it should log an err msg. Please could someone provide a lead on this.

The files have same record length and fixed field delimited.

Thanks in advance

Outlook 2003 Filter SQL Tab To Compare The Values Of Two Fields In A Given Contact.

Sep 28, 2007

Hello and Thank You in advance:

I would like to Use the SQL Tab in the Filter Selection of the View-Modify Current View Option in Outlook 2003.
I am specifically trying to create a statement that only displays those Contacts that have a Modified Date that is different than the Created date. In other words I want to view all the records that have been modified at any time after the date of their creation.

I have been unable to create a SQL statement that compares the Created and Modified fields in the Contacts. Would you please explain and show what the correct syntax is in order to compare the values of two fields within a given Contact?

These are all examples of what I have tried and that have not worked. I cannot find documentation for this anywhere only small articles here and there that are not enough for me to develop a complete answer from:

(("urnchemas:calendar:created" >= '1/1/2001 12:00 AM' AND
"urnchemas:calendar:created" <= '12/31/2001 12:00 AM')
AND ("urnchemas:calendar:created" <> "urnchemas:calendar:lastmodified" ))
("urnchemas:calendar:created" <> "urnchemas:calendar:lastmodified" )

(("urnchemas:calendar:created" >= '1/1/2001 12:00 AM' AND
"urnchemas:calendar:created" <= '12/31/2001 12:00 AM') AND
("DAV:getlastmodified" >= '1/1/2001 12:00 AM' AND
"DAV:getlastmodified" <= '12/31/2007 12:00 AM'))

("urnchemas:calendar:created" <> "DAV:getlastmodified")
("DAV:getlastmodified" <> "urnchemas:calendar:created")
("DAV:getlastmodified" <> 'urnchemas:calendar:created')

I Need This To Be Done Using Only Single Stored Procedure For Binding Field Value To DropDownBox And For Adding Income. Plz Tell Me How To Do This?

May 22, 2008

My task is to add income by taking few variables from webpage. I had take User ID(From database), Field value by selecting it from DropDownBox( Which value is once again taken from database), Income Description, Date, Amount . I had completed this task successfully by binding DropDownBox to database by query string and added income using stored procedure as below.

  I need this to be done using only single Stored Procedure for binding Field Value to DropDownBox  and for adding income. Plz tell me how to do this?

Get The Grand Total Of This Query

Dec 12, 2003

I need to get the Grand Total of the results of this query.
The query pulls the total customer quotes for each community in a management company and loads my DataGrid:

This query works fine for individual community totals"SELECT TOP 100 PERCENT vcName, COUNT(DISTINCT vcCustId) AS " & _
" Total FROM dbo.PropReportData WHERE cManagementCo = '" & Session("MgmtCo") & "' and " & _
" (vcEntryDate >= CONVERT(DATETIME, '" & StartDate & "', 102)) AND " & _
"(vcEntryDate <= CONVERT(DATETIME, '" & EndDate & " 11:59:59 PM" & "' , 102))GROUP BY vcName ORDER by vcName"

At first glance you would think that the following query would return the Grand Total for all communities in the management company:

Current Grand Total Query"SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT vcCustID) As gTotal FROM PropReportData WHERE
cManagementCo = '" & Session("MgmtCo") & "' AND vcEntryDate >= '" & Session
("StartDate") & "' AND vcEntryDate <= '" & Session("EndDate") & " 11:59:59 PM' "

But here's the problem. If there are multiple customer quotes created for different communites, then the customer(vcCustID) is only counted once in the Grand Total Query because I have to use DISTINCT, which of course only picks up one instance of the customer.

Thanks in advance.

Help: Query To Get Total Last 7 Day Sales For Each Day

Aug 5, 2004

Let say I have this table in MS SQL server
table transaction(date,sales)

how to query to get result like this (date,sales,sum(sales last 7 day))
I'm thinking about using self join, but it means I must have to self join 7 times to get the total sales for the last 7 day. Is there any better way to do this? or maybe special function within MS SQL server.

note: i'm not looking for total sales per week group by each week, but total last 7 day sales for each day

thanks

Calculating Total Events (query)

Jan 23, 2008

Hi. I'm trying to calculate the total number of cases that more than 4 events. This is my query:

select count(defendanteventpros.vbkey) as countcase from defendanteventpros
where exists (select * from defendanteventpros where eventid=2 and eventdate between '1/1/2007' and '12/31/2007')
having count(defendanteventpros.vbkey)>4

The defendanteventpros table has a vbkey (primarykey) eventid (type of event) and an evetndate (when the event takes place).

What I'm trying to find is how many cases had 4 or more events and were received (eventid=2 from above) between 1/1/2007 and 12/31/2007.

I keep getting a big number that I know is not correct. I would appreciate any help anyone can offer! Thanks!

Stuck With Total Records Query

Apr 4, 2008

Hi,

I've got this

SELECT vehicleref, capID, make, model, derivative, COUNT(vehicleref) total, SUM(case when inStock=1 then 1 else 0 end) AS stock, (SELECT dealer FROM tblMatrixDealers WHERE id=dealerid) As Dealer FROM tblMatrixStock WHERE inStock = 1 GROUP BY vehicleref, capID, make, model, derivative, dealerid

I need to get the number in stock, i.e. when instock=1 and the total i.e. when instock=1 or 0

But the problem is i'm only showing records where instock=1 so my SUM(case when inStock=1 then 1 else 0 end) AS stock statement is useless.

Whats the best way to do this

Thanks

Getting Total Row Count For Complex Query Using CTE

Apr 26, 2007

I have a query that uses a CTE which looks similar to this

WITH cte_Products AS
(SELECT SELECT
ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY ProductName ASC) AS RowNum,
RANK() OVER (ORDER BY id DESC) AS rank,
FROM Products
WHERE SomeColumn = @SomeVariable)
SELECT rownum,
columns,
(SELECT COUNT(*) FROM cte_Product) AS TotalRowCount
FROM cte_Product AS products
WHERE Rank <= @LastXItems
AND RowNum BETWEEN (@StartRowIndex + 1) and (@StartRowIndex + @MaximumRows)
ORDER BY RowNum

The (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM cte_Product) AS TotalRowCount is in there because I need the total row count that is queried by the CTE. But I feel like this is an inefficient way of doing this. I would just split out the query for the total row count, but then I have to do another sub query to get the rank again since rank is calculated using the Rank method. Does anyone have any ideas of how best to do this?

Query To Compare Two Tables

Aug 4, 1999

Hi,

I am trying to write a query to compare the same column in each table with "not equal" expression.

My query is like this:

select tableOne.empl_ser_no from tableOne, tableTwo
where tableOnel.empl_ser_no <>(select empl_ser_no from tableTwo)

I am getting the following message from SQL Server:

Msg 512, Level 16, State 1
Subquery returned more than 1 value. This is illegal when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <= , >, >=, or when the subquery is used as an expression.
Command has been aborted.

Query To Compare Two Tables

Nov 4, 2005

I have a database I want to query. It is a medical billing system. I basically want to compare a list of Names and Birthdates in an Excel spreadsheet to the table of patients in the database that have that insurance type and return only the rows from the spreadsheet that don't exist in the database.

This is an eligibility list, so we need to find those that don't have this insurance set up for them in our billing system and update their records.

We will probably want to do the update manually so I don't mess it up too bad , but would like to zero in on who needs the updates rather than having to look at every single record.

Any ideas on how to approach this?

Would this be a join, or would I need to do a select from table 1 where pt/insurance not in select pt/ins from table 2?
