Re-Installation Of SQLExpress On XP SP2 Chinese Tra Version
Jan 6, 2007
When I installed SQL Express first time a few days ago, it work ok. But, after removing all sql server componets through 'control panel'->'add or remove programs,' something seems wrong in the registry because the re-installation of SQLExpress will never success with an error
The System Configuration Check for Performance Monitor counter registry value has failed. For details, see How to: Increment the Counter Registry Key for Setup in SQL Server 2005, in the readme file or in SQL Server Books Online.
------------------------
in setup configuration checker. I follow the instructions in help page and try to set the values "Last Counter" and "Last Help" in '[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionPerflib]' as same as the values "Counter" and "Help" in '[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionPerflib]'.........but the data type are dword and string resp. So, setup checker will think the values are different and no way to reinstall the SQLExpress.
Can anyone tell me how to fix it or just let me know SQLExpress not for Chinese XP SP2?
I have gone to the page http://www.microsoft.com/express/sql/download/default.aspx to download the 64 bit version of the Management Studio for Vista 64 bit... and its in Chinese.
This is the double astrix version at the very bottom of the page specifically for Vista 64...
Is this something I am doing or is this download link actually to a Chinese Download??
Can someone point me to a download link that is English...
i have a problem installing SQLEXPRESS via command prompt... the installation is successful but the 'sa' account could not login to the server.. here's the command in my batch file.
I have a table like this below and it doesn't only contain English Names but it also contain Chinese Name. CREATE TABLE Names (FirstName NVARCHAR (50), LastName NVARCHAR (50)); I tried to view the column using SQL Query Analyzer, It didn't display Chinese Character. I know that SQL Server 2005 is using UCS-2 Encoding and Chinese Character uses Double Byte Character Set (DBCS) Encoding. I want to read the FirstName and LastName columns and display in Window Form Data Grid and ASP.NET Grid View. I tried to use this code below and it didn't work. It convert some of the English Name to Chinese Character and it display the chinese character and some still in the original unreadable characters. Does anybody know how to read those character from SQL Table and display the correct Chinese Character without converting the English Name into Chinese also? Thanks
int codePage = 950; StringBuilder message = new StringBuilder(); Encoding targetEncoding = Encoding.GetEncoding(codePage); byte[] encodedChars= targetEncoding.GetBytes(str); . message.AppendLine("Byte representation of '" + str + "' in Code Page '" + codePage + "':"); for (int i = 0; i < encodedChars.Length; i++) { message.Append("Byte " + i + ": " + encodedChars); }
message.AppendLine(" RESULT : " + System.Text.Encoding.Unicode.GetString(encodedChars)); Console.Writeline(message.ToString());

I have the DVD from the ready to launch event. Thanks
Info:the machine's OS is XP Professional with SP2sql server 2000 developer's edition installed and runninga bit of 'history'last night I first tried to install sql server 2005 express but theinstruction text to the effect of "not entire Analysis service will beavailable and the like" made me abort installation mid-way.which may have MISTAKENLY registered this machine as having a copy ofsql server 2005 express installed already by the installation utilityprogram.Problem:Attempt to install the core engine of "SQL Server Database Services"failed, "SQL native client" installation also failed. Can't quicklytell which log file is about the core engine installation failure fromthe installation log files. What's my "optimal" course of action?Thanks.P.S. to Erland, sorry for not having responded to your previous help/answer
I found sql2005 Enterprise cannot be installed under Simplied Chinese win 2003, the only thing i suspect is that win2003 is an envaluation copy with netframework 2.0 be installed.
Hi all, Yesterday, I just downloaded the SQL Server 2005 Express (SQLEXPR.EXE) and tried to install it in my Windows XP Pro PC that is on Microsoft NT 4 LAN System. I got the following error: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 CTP setup The Microfost .NET Framework 2.0 is not installed. Please install before running setup. This morning, I downloaded the NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package Beta 2 (x86) from the Microsoft Download Center and installed it in my Windows XP Pro PC. Then I tried to install the SQL Server 2005 Express (SQLEXPR.EXE) again. This time I got a new error: SQL Server 2005 Setup has detected incompatible components from beta versions of Visual Studio, .NET Framework, or SQL Server 2005. Use ADD or Remove Programs to remove these components, and then run SQL Server 2005 Setup again. I am confused and lost in this installation problem. Was the .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package Beta 2 (x86) a wrong Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 I downloaded and installed in my PC? Where is the right Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 for the SQL Server 2005 Express? Please help and advise. Thanks in advance, Scott Chang
When i tried to install the beta 3 above I encounter the following problems ;- TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Beta 3 Setup---------------------------------------- Setup configuration check cannot be executed due to WMI configuration on the computer D:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLBinnetwcls.mof. For details, see the Sqlrunxx.log file or call Microsoft Product Support. Hey I link this editor, Where can I get this beautiful forum message editor ?.
The SQL ERRORLOG shows: Error is 3414, Severity 21, State 2 and says: "An error occurred during recovery, preventing the database 'model' (database ID 3) from restarting." Just prior to this, I get a warning: "did not see LP_CKPT_END".
Any thoughts why this might be and how I can fix this?
I have created an installation application which will install the application with SQL Express and .NET Framework 2.0.
If i install this application in a Fresh system(i.e which is not having SQL Express), it is installing the application with new database instance successfully.
But if i try to install the same in a system which is already having SQL Express, throwing "Object reference exception" because it is not able to create the new database instance.
Because of numerous problems trying to get sqlexpress working, I uninstalled it with the intention of reinstalling (via Add or Remove Programs). However, now when I try to reinstall it, I get a message that the I am not making a changes so it won't let me install it.
I do have sql server 2005 developer's edition installed; is that the reason? and does that mean I cannot have both installed on the same machine?
I installed Visual Studio 2005 Professional then after that was installed and running, I tried to install the the SQL Server 2005 Developer's Edition which installed but I do not get the SQL Server 2005 Studio Manager. I have remove and reinstalled but it never gets installed. Any ideas?
Is there any way to restore a database of higher version to lower version.
E.g. I have created a database in sql server 2012, created some tables & procedures in that.I took Full backup of that database. Can I restore it to sql 2008r2 or any lower version.
I know direct restore is not possible, I have to use either import or export option or generating script, but i want to know is there any easy step to do so.
Since some analysis services features are only available in Enterprise version , I have to upgrade my SQL 2005 server from standard edition to enterpise edition.
So I uninstall originial standard version of analysis service and install a Enterprise version. However, the analysis service is still a standard version after installation.
Is it possible to keep data engine as standard version and install a enterprise version of analysis service?
Hello,I have been searching and reading a lots of information on the microsoft website about the different version of SQL server, but still can not make my decision. In term of performance, is there a real big difference between the workgroup and the standard version? The workgroup is limited to 3 GB of RAM while the standard is unlimited, would that really change the performance if my server has 16Gb or RAM?The price difference is pretty substantial so if could only have to buy the workgroup , it would be better. One more question, regarding the type of licence, my server has 2 processors, could I avoid buying 2 licences and get the Server plus CAL instead. I am using this server to host 4 web-application running on SQL server. Each database is about 15 MB.Thanks in adavance for your advises.Arno
I am wondering if it is possible to change from SQL Server Enterprise Evaluation Version to Developer Version. The reason is because the Enterprise Evaluation version expires after 180 days. So if I create reports and cubes in Enterprise Evaluation I can import them into Developer Edition right? Should I remove the Enterprise Evaluation version after 180 days or leave it then install Developer Edition?
I have tried to attatch a database ,created by SQL server Express within a C# application , in SQL server 2005 Enterprise edition, but the following error message appears:

I have an ssis package that downloads a SQL Server 2000 database and restores it to a SQL 2005 server. Ninety-five percent of the time it runs just fine, but every so often the job fails and I get the following set of error messages in the log file. (I have had to delete some of the proprietary information for this message to satisfy my boss like putting in [Database name] in place of the actual name of the database in the error message).

I have received the error message "Package migration from version 8 to version 6 failed".I have developed a SSIS package with Visual Studio 2013 which gives me PackageFormatVersion of 8. I then deploy my package to the ssisdb catalog that is running on a SQL Server 2012, this works fine but when I try to execute the package the error arises…due to SQL Server 2012 has a PackageFormatVersion of 6 and it can’t run something that has a greater version.I haven’t seen any good solution for this but one that would work for me would be to upgrade the Integration Services Server from 2012 to 2014, leaving everything else in 2012 (database, ssms, ssas, ssrs).Would this solve the package format problem? Would I then be able to execute my packages in the ssisdb catalog?
Hi All,I've been struggling with this for hours...Could someone please advise me on how to convert my current File based SQL Server Express website to a Server based SQL Express one.Particularly interested in what I need to do in the SQL Express management tool, changes I need to make the projecvt itself and changes needed to get IIS to understand things have been changed.Thanks,Martin.
Now, I checked and verified that my backup version of SQL Server is the same as the version installed on the computer I'm restoring too.
I have SQL Server on a production machine that I backed up and want to test a full restore on a dev machine to make sure it will work when I need it to.
Now that I've run the restore command on my tape backup and go to restart the SQL server service I receive:
Configuration block version 0 is not a valid version number. SQL Server is exiting. Restore the master database or reinstall.
I'm afraid I don't understand why this is happening. If the builds are the same, then shouldn't restoring the MASTER database have worked normally and I'd be able to restart the service now?
Hi,I need to input Chinese character into the table of the database. I did try to install/run both Chinese/English version of Visual Studio into Chinese/English version of Server 2003 but it still didn't work. Please help !stephen
I hope somebody can help me with this. I have different points to solve. However, I€™ll make some simple questions and then I€™ll decide to continue explaining. In a pc having Windows 2003 Server and SQL 2005 in English lang installed, II can see into the fields of an Access db Chinese characters. I€™ve made a tool to transfer the information to a new SQL db, but when I go to see into table€™s fields, I only see €œ????€?. I€™ve tried to make the import directly from SQL Server, but the result was the same. When I read the values from a VB6 app, the ones read from Access are correctly showed, but not the one read from SQL. In both cases I see only €œ?????€?. But, using in another pc with regional settings changed to Chinese the same application, I can see all the Chinese labels. Shall I need to make the transfer with the Chinese lang downloaded into the pc? Shall I need to set the db in a particular way? I have inside the db some tables having latin characters (European names) that I need to maintain, so there will be data in at least 2 languages: Chinese and English. The second problem is regarding a text box control to insert numeric value. If I insert the numer 3.4456, once the value is added to the db, it returns 34456. Decimal point is ignored. This happens in machines having Windows in Chinese and Windows in English with reg. settings changed to Chinese. Thanks in advance for your help.
I have the trial version of SQL Server 2005 installed and have setup a couple of databases. This trial version will expire in another few weeks. I recently purchased a copy of the software and want to install it. Will I lose my databases, user info, etc? How do I go about installing without losing anything?
We have a 64bit os machine that we accidently loaded the 32 bit version of sql server on. We now want to upgrade it to 64 bit sql server, but we now have a production database on it. My understanding is that all I have to do is detach the production database, upgrade to 64bit sql server, then reattach the database. Is this really all I have to do?
I started this thread as the last attempt to sort the issue out.
I have an SSIS package that loads data from a .csv file into my database. It works fine on my developer machine. I start it programmatically or from Management Studio or from Visual Studio, and it works. Then I deploy it to the MSDB database on the computer on which it will have its final place. There again I can start it from Management Studio or from Visual Studio (using the source file), and it works. But when I start it programmatically, it just fails telling me:
Package Warnings: Package Errors: The version of component "****" (11773) is not compatible with this version of the DataFlow. Component "component "Derived Column" (13627)" could not be created and returned error code 0x80070005. Make sure that the component is registered correctly. The component is missing, not registered, not upgradeable, or missing required interfaces. The contact information for this component is "Flat File Source;Microsoft Corporation;Microsoft SqlServer v9; (C) 2005 Microsoft Corporation; All Rights Reserved; http://www.microsoft.com/sql/support;1". component "Agreement File" (11773) failed validation and returned error code 0xC0048021. One or more component failed validation. There were errors during task validation.
Maybe the source of the problem is that this machine is a 64-bit one, while the developer machine is 32-bit one. But why does the package run fine when I start it from Management Studio?
