ReadWriteDeleteMessageFile FAILURE With SQL Server Mobile Server Agent Diagnostics
Jul 31, 2007
Hi all.
Is there a difference with sql replication between sql server 2005 64bit and sql server 2005 32bit?
Both are on a Windows 2003 server. One is 32 bit and the other one is 64 bit.
The first time I set up sql replication (test environment), it was on a 32 bit sql server. This worked fine.
The second time I wanted to set up replication (live environment), it was on a 64 bit sql server. This didn't worked fine.
I can't call the sqlcesa30.dll file on the 64bit server with IIS. So I called the dll via a remote IIS server.
This worked but gave me the following error when calling the following URL:
http://domain/PDASYNC/sqlcesa30.dll?diag

After seeing this I looked up what ReadWriteDeleteMessageFile could mean. It appeared to be some NTFS acces problem. But when I checked the security settings, it all seemed to be ok.
Has anyone any idea what else to check? Or is sure that I must have done something wrong?
The SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) service on server started and then stopped. If i Manually start the services also SQL Server Agent services are stopping automatically.Though I selected Auto Restart SQL Server Agent if it stops unexpectedly, The services are stopping automatically.TCP/IP protocol was enabled for port 1433.Are there any setup I missed?
I'm trying to get my first replication going, and I have set up a database successfully, along with merge replication, however when I attempt to create the first subscriber, I get a permissions issue, regardless of what I do. In the SQLCESA30.LOG file, I get the following entries:
I posted the initial thread under the "Replication" forum, but am including this 'pointer' post here due to a lack of replies there, and the relevance of this thread to this forum. Please see http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=193693&SiteID=1 for more details.
I have scheduled a job in SQL Server Agent, as it executes it fails Immediatly. The error history displays the following error details, which i copied from the log file
"Description: Unable to load the package as XML because of package does not have a valid XML format. A specific XML parser error will be posted.
The system cannot find the path specified.". This happens when loading a package and the file cannot be opened or loaded correctly into the XML document. This can be the result of either providing an incorrect file name was specified when calling LoadPackage or the XML file was specified and has an incorrect format. End Error ... The package could not be f... The step failed."
I am using the File System Type to load my package.
I'm new to sql server administration so please show some understanding!
I installed sql server 2000 personal edition (upgrated to sp4) on an windows xp pro OS, but I cannot get the sql server agent service running. I get a message " the service did not start due to a logon failure". The server is my local pc, I'm using windows authentication and the login is "domain/loginname" where domain is my pc name.
Does it have to be installed on a server OS to have this service running?
I have set up a locahost site in IIS using the "Configure Web Synchronization Wizard". One of the first test I was asked to do was to open a broweser and browse to http://localhost/MobileTest/sqlcesa30.dll
If all is well I should get a web page with the following line:
SQL Server Mobile Server Agent 3.0
But unfortunately I get an error stating : "The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Please refer to the event log for more detail information. Please contact the server administrator for assistance."
I checekd the Event log and found this error related the IIS launch process on my machine.
DCOM got error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. " and was unable to logon .IWAM_Rataq in order to run the server:
where Rataq is the name of my machine. Could my IWAM_Rataq account be corrupted, my other sites on the machine work.
Infact if i put in a Test.htm page in the virtual directory MobileTest I am able to browse to the page.
Can the Account be re-set? is there another problem that I am not aware of. I have Norton Internet 2006 running could that be the reason? Could Norton be blocking the dll from loading? But the event log states it is a Account error.
Any ideas why this might occur? any help is always appreciated
When I try and connecto to SQL CE I always get an invalid operation exception. I"m afraid that I did not follow the proper install for Orcas Beta 2. I can't remember if I was supposed to uninstall SQL Mobile 2005 first or not.
All I know is when I try and use my SQL CE I can't connecto to a DB / sdf file ?
Any help would be appreciated I"m just starting to use SQL CE.
I don't understand why I am having this error. It does create the database on AddSubscription() method but it is failing opening the database on Synchronise(). I have also tried uninstalling and then reinstalling all the SQL Mobile components in the following order.
I am developping a non-managed C++ application for PocketPC using a SQL Server mobile database.
The application is compiled for PocketPC 2003 and uses SQL Server Mobile v2. I use Visual Studio 2005. But I need to compile the application for Windows Mobile 5.0 devices. So I installed the WM5 SDK and had the WM5 into my project configuration.
The "ssceoledb.h" which I include incluses the "transact.h" file. But my problem is that this file is only provided with the PocketPC 2003 SDK and not in the WM5 SDK. So I cannot use the WM5 configuration project with SQL Server. I also tried with the last SQL Server Mobile 2005 (ie v3.0) and the "ssceoledb30.h" also includes "transact.h".
Did I miss something to install ? Do you know how I can resolve the problem ?
Using MS VS 2005 (incl SQL Server Mobile) MS Pocket PC 2005 SDK
I am working on a project that builds for Pocket PC on both Mobile 2003 and Mobile 5. The project uses/will use SQL Server Mobile to store local data.
Project created from new with support for both platforms. I include required header files ssceerr30.h and ssceoledb30.h.
Project builds fine in WM2003 configuration, release and debug.
When I build for WM5 the compiler cannot find the header file transact.h. This is included from within ssceoledb30.h. Same as under WM2003.
In WM2003 configuration if I highlight the ssceoledb30.h include in Visual Studio and open the header, it takes me to <Visual Studio dir>SmartDevicesSDKSQL ServerMobilev3.0. I then locate the include for transact.h and do the same, which takes me <Visual Studio dir>SDKPocketPC2003include. The file exists.
If I repeat the above 'browsing' under the WM5 configuration, ssceoledb30.h takes me to a different copy in the WM5 SDK directory. There is no diff between the file here and the other copy used by WM2003. If I attempt to open transact.h - file does not exist.
Fix (which I'm not too sure about, i.e. is it OK?) - If I copy transact.h to the WM5 SDK directory, the project builds.
Why has transact.h disappeared from WM5 SDK? I can find no ref's to this problem anywhere. Is my installation of the WM5 SDK corrupt? What else could I be missing? Is there a sample for SQL Server mobile (like the NorthwindOLEDB sample) that comes configured to build for WM5?
Hi folks, I'm new to Windows Mobile progamming, and new to this forum. Apologies in advance if I'm asking a boneheaded question, but I've done searches and can't find anything directly applicable to my problem.
I'm currently walking through the published MS tutorial in setting up an SQL Server 2005 Mobile application that subscribes to a publication on SQL Server 2005 to exchange information.
I've gotten almost all the way through... successfully set up the server components, creating the publication, etc. On the mobile side, I've been able run the cab files to install the SQL Mobile components and to create the project, add the reference to the dll, and instantiate an engine object. It compiles.
The step in the tutorial after that, though, where you specify the data source from the "data" menu, I've got a problem. When I try to use the "new connection" dialog from choosing the data connection, "MS SQL Server Mobile Edition" doesn't show up as a choice. I've tried choosing any of the other combinations, and in teh subsequent "Connection properties" section my database, SQLMobile (as in their sample) is available, but I get an error when I choose it and click OK. Clicking on "Test Connection" gives me a connection successful message.
My guess is that something about the Mobile server side components is not installed correctly on my development machine, but honestly I have no idea how to begin to fix it. Has anyone seen this problem before and know how to resolve it?
Your time and any knowledge sharing is greatly appreciated. Thank you, -Dana
This is a great tutorial and it's a shame one of the more important steps was missed. In the €œCreate the snapshot user€? section you you find the steps to create the snapshot_agent account. Then in the €œCreate the snapshot folder€? section you find the share and folder permissions. However, at no point do the instructions advise you about adding the snapshot_agent to the SQL Server Logins. The result is that agent cannot perform the initial snapshot but you won't find this out until 50 steps later after Step 10 in the section €œCreate a new subscription".
To get back on track, openthe Object Explorer's Security section and add the snapshot_agent to your logins. Then using the "User Mappings", set an appropriate level for the SQLMobile database role. Once completed you then need to run the agent.
Right-click the SQLMobile publication you created and select "View Snapshot Agent status". From that dialog you can select "Start" to run the agent. When it completes, you can return to the tutorial section "Create a new subscription" and continue with the tutorial.
I am studying the tutorial in SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition Books Online, and the topic is Creating a Mobile Application with SQL Server Mobile. I have got a problem when creating a new subscription after created a new SQL Server Mobile database. And the problem is shown below:
New Subscription Wizard
- Beginning Synchronization (Success)
- Synchronizing Data (100%) (Error) Messages * Failure to connect to SQL Server with provided connection information. SQL Server does not exist, access is denied because the IIS user is not a valid user on the SQL Server, or the password is incorrect. HRESULT 0x80004005 (29061)
* 無法完æˆ?作æ¥ã€‚
- Finalizing Synchronization (Stopped)
- Saving Subscription Properties (Stopped)
Before I have met this problem, I have finished all the task. And I can browse the localhost web site by using anonymous account even I use internet explorer or browse the directly in IIS.
I have created a job with several SSIS packages included in it. There is a failure when I schedule and run the job. Where can I find the information why it is failing? When I run the packages individually, they run fine. Thanks in advance.
I have an issue on SQL Agent and wish you to advice:
Servers Environment:
The SQL Server and SQL Agent Service is installed on clustered Server1 where the Integration Services (IS) is installed on Server2. Deployment of SSIS packages have been done on Server1 and IS on Server2 is pointing to it.
Case:
1. In SQL Managament Studio, connection on Database Engine is up on Server1, connection on IS is up on Server2.
2. Execution of all packages via IS connection on Server2 is working well. No issue on running.
3. SQL Agent Job is created under Server1. The job failed on running. Message from the Log File Viewer:
"The job failed. The Job was invoked by User domainhost. The last step to run was step 1 (tewst)." "Executed as user: domainhost. ...n 9.00.3042.00 for 64-bit Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-2005. All rights reserved. Code: 0xC0048020 Description: The version of component "Update to DB" (828) is not compatible with this version of the DataFlow."
when I run a package from a command window using dtexec, the job immediately says success. DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_SUCCESS (0). Started: 3:37:41 PM Finished: 3:37:43 PM Elapsed: 2.719 seconds
However the Job is still in th agent and the status is executing. The implications of this are not good. Is this how the sql server agent job task is supposed to work by design.
HELP>>> I am getting desperate we recently had a failure which ended up wrecking my replication. The basic layout is from a source server -> Distribution Server then out to several other servers. Long story short the distribution database had to be moved to a new drive and I am now getting the following error message
The specified LSN (0003d4f0:0000721e:001b) for repldone log scan occurs before the current start of replication in the log (0003d63a:00002803:0001). (Source: fsdpdcis (Data source); Error number: 18768) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The process could not set the last distributed transaction. (Source: fsdpdcis-DPDDATA-1 (Agent); Error number: 22017)
I have reinitialized all subscriptions on the fsdpdcis server and run subscription validation (with no response). The data did re-load during the reinitialization but does not seem to be getting updated. This is driving me crazy and I am desperate. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have search MS knowledge base with no results and BOL has not been any help so far.
My site works fine in VWD2008 express, but I get this error when I try to use it on my live website. An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. According to this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914277 I am supposed to:
1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft SQL Server 2005, point to Configuration Tools, and then click SQL Server Surface Area Configuration. Ok, there is no such program in this folder. The only thing in there is "SQL Server Error and Usage Reporting"... The other thing I am greatly concerned with is this: All is want is for my webpages to be able to access my database for user authentication. I DO NOT want to grant the internet rights to remote connect to my database.
I am running transactional replication between a pair of SQL Server 2005 machines using a remote distributor. Occasionally the log reader agent fails with the error
"Replication-Replication Transaction-Log Reader Subsystem: agent * failed. The process could not execute 'sp_MSpub_adjust_identity' on '*'."
The agent starts back up again almost immediately on its own with seemingly no problems. I haven't been able to find any documentation on this error from Microsoft. Any ideas?
It is not a permissions issue as the log reader agent (and all of the other agents at that) are running under windows accounts with domain admin access for the domain that both the publisher and the distributor SQL Servers are on. (I know, I know, that's horrible. I've only been here a week and a half and I just found out about this today, so I didn't have anything to do with such a glaring security issue.) All of the SQL Servers involved with the replication are still granting sysadmin access to the windows administrators group.
D:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727InstallUtil.exe SQLAgent.exe by running it from a command prompt.
and got an error that the system could not find the file or one of its components. It is a farily new install. I do not think I've lost any files any time.
I have a publisher, remote distributor and subscriber all running SS2000.
Under replication monitor on the distributor, under replication alerts i have enabled the "replication agent failure" alert. All i need to know is should this alert trigger if the distribution agent that runs on the subscriber not the distributor fails?
I have add occurences of the distribution agent failing and the alert is not triggerred, is this because it only triggers for the agents that run on the distributor, ie: snapshot and log reader agents?
I get the following error and have been trying to figure out why I keep getting it. Initially, I had placed my project under wwwroot folder and ran it under IIS and it gave this error. Then I moved it to my local C drive and same thing. I am sharing this project with two other co-workers and all our config files and code files are same...they don't get this error but I do. I checked that SQL Server Client Network Utility has TCP/IP and the 'Named Pipes' enabled. I thought maybe I have setting in the Visual Studio 2005 that I'm not aware of that's causing this problem...it can't be the server since my co-workers aren't having this error and can't be anything in the code since all of us are sharing this project through vss. I dont' think using different version of .net framework can create this error. I changed the version from 2.0 to use 1.1x and it gave same error... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi,I have SQL Server Express Edition. I tried working out some ASP.NET Labs in my local system. Here is the link of the Virtual Lab which I tried. http://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/WebCastEventDetails.aspx?EventID=1032286906&EventCategory=3&culture=en-US&CountryCode=USI recieve this error in my local system. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)I tried working out solutions from various websites. But the no solution is effective. Could anyone help me in solving this issue.
We just moved source server to newer, bigger box ... Windows 2003 and Active Directory ... Snapshot agent worked but distribution failed ... Same login as on older machine, login is sysadm, used DCOMCNFG to allow ability to launch process ... What are we missing?
After upgrading a server from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005, I can't get any SQL Agent jobs to run, giving logon failed messages. MSSQLSERVER and SQLSERVERAGENT services are set up to run as the same domain account which has administrative rights to the server and is a SQL login with the sysadmin role. For basic testing purposes, I created a test job that all it does is run a T-SQL command 'SELECT @@VERSION'. The job is also set to run as the same account that the Agent is running under. Below are the logs (with trace messages on) from the point of starting the Agent to my attempt to run the job (user and server names have been changed to protect the innocent):

I am looking for a detailed tutorial that explains how to set-up merge replication services for a major project. I have seen all of the claims that SQL Mobile Server 2005 is able to connect to a merge publication with SQL Server 2000. However, where are the tutorials? I must have a proof of concept in a few days to quote this project. Can anybody help with this issue? Thanks!
After installing MSDE(with SP4) and SQL Server 2000 SP4 Replication Components, the SQL Server 2005 Mobile Server Tools installation fails when running the System Configuration Check with a SQL Server requirement Error.
"You must first install the Replication Components for SQL Server 2000 SP 3a or higher or the SQL Server 2005 Replication Components"
Am I getting this error because I'm using the Desktop Engine version of the SQL Server 2000??
