I've check out that this error code says: A literal value in the command overflowed the range of the type of the associated column.
I received the error message when inserting large block data into a image column in SQL Server 2000. As I know, image support max 2G data to store. I use the C code function below to insert the data:
in which, the NUM_SAMPLES_SETDBMONITOR*sizeof(float64) stands for the data length by byte. and ,&(pMonitorDBData->SampDat) stands for the pointer address of the data block. (pls note: NUM_SAMPLES_SETDBMONITOR*sizeof(float64) = 4096*8=32768 bytes)
In addation, I've tried to use certain numbers instead of "NUM_SAMPLES_SETDBMONITOR*sizeof(float64)", and I found I could only set this value up to 8003 bytes. If 8003 above, this error message would be received.
What should I do with this issue? Any help?

Hopefully someone else can assist, as I’ve got to a point where I think issue lies within the application or a Microsoft bug. Web searches have reveled a number installations that have also had this error but its has not revealed an actual fix.

As the user base has increased form 5 to 20, I have noticed that the issue is occurring more frequently in comparison to when the company first started using the application /database. Its just about daily now...
The db server also has 8 other db's residing on it - but they are all less than 300 meg.

Common features of the issue, that have been omitted from trace output for visibility reasons are: -Involves 1 particular DB (thats accessed by VB app) & its developement db -All connections are coming from 1 application server -Issue does not relate to any particular site connecting to the application server using this application
I have reviewed & fixed several potential server side causes but this error still is occuring with in the environment:
MDAC versions must be common on application & server: - Removed from equation by updating MDAC version on App server to be the same as DB Server: 2.7 SP1 Refresh
Network related - Considered unlikely; we are also not experiencing network card errors on either server; also all db's would be experiencing connectivity errors.
Which leaves us with Application related options to review: - Compilation error of application - App parameter definitions to stored procedures are the correct data type - Ensure values being passed do not exceed 4000 characters as that has also been known to create this error message - I've asked the developer to review MS KB 827366 article, as it may be a valid test - In regard to MSKB 832977 - I am not using pssdiag & have a later version of the MS Analyzer. But what I thought was interesting, is the statement that this problem occurs more frequently when an application submits a large remote procedure call (RPC) input buffer, especially when the RPC input buffer is greater than or equal to 8 KB. I cannot execute a package by using Execute Package task. I supplied sa credentials to connection manager, and it shows the list of Packages on SQL Server but when running the task it says

Service Broker is set to have a dialog between two databases on the same SQL Server instance.
The Initiator queue has retention=on and there is an activation SP to handle errors and Target's end dialog message.
The Target queue has retention=off, MAX_READER =1 and there is an activation SP to receive the message (WAIT FOR (RECEIVE (1) ...), TIMEOUT 30000 and do something with this message (sample insert into a DB).
The conversation has a Timeout Dialog to end the dialog after a while.
The problem that the message is constantly processed. The Process doens't stop is I end the dialof after the processing either.
n.b.the Receive is within a Transation that I commit at the end.

I am sending two messages across servers with in the same transaction but they are received in the incorrect sequence.

Message2 is always received first at the target and is causing our process to fail.
When I check the service2 definition contract2 is specified first. Can this be the issue? I tried to change this order by dropping the contracts from the service and adding again but it still keeps the same order.
From SQL Management Studion I go to Management > Database Mail and I am trying to send a test email but I never receive anything. I checked my SMTP Mail Server Logs and I saw no entry of my test email. I also I checked my SQL Database Mail Logs and everything seems fine, no errors are reported. The msdb.dbo.sysmail_allitems shows my email status as "sent". So what am I missing? What steps would you recommend for troubleshooting my problem? Thank you, Ric

I'm trying to create a simple Data transfermation. I have a flat file that came of a unix server.. it's 177 bytes wide.. thought it was 175, but when I created the flat file connector, I could see some extra characters on the end.
My output is going to be an excel spreadsheet, I only want two columns from the input. I created an oledb jet 4.0 connection. and followed instructions from here :
On my first attempt to dataflow, I ran into unicode errors and had to do this:
ran into a problem with unicode errors. went to the source for the flat file. for the output column in question changed to Unicode string [DT_WSTR].

I just installed SQL Server 2005 on Windows Vista. I am getting an error "An unknown error occurred in the WMI provider. Error Code 8000000A" when connecting to a web server. The reporting services is running. Is there any other installation that is missing. Please help.
I am trying to install Project Server, and i'm having issues with sharepoint, and connecting to SQL:
dataserver is running sbs2003 sql2003 and analsys services.
server2 is running server2003 is to be the application server for project.
ProjectDb is the database that i have setup in sql.
username is the account that can control everything as administrer.

I've also see the error message can not find the SQL Server, and access denied. Under ODBC i have installed the sql server information under System DSN.
We use Cisco Call Manager 4.1(3), We use RTMT Tool to monitor our devices & now Daily once i get a error message as Directory connection failed . Monitored precanned object has value of 0., can anyone tell me what could be the excat cause or how can we troubleshoot this issue or what services should we check on our call manager to overcome this error.

my code was working fine but i changed a few things and now i cant figure it out. the problem is that when i click my edit button none of the items go into the listbox. i added a label to track th error and i narrowed it done to a smaller ssection. Please help

I have a c++ app that is trying to do an update, we use ADO to SQL7. It's returning error code 3119. Has anyone seen this error before? I didn't find anything in BOL or MSDN.
