Sure you can run

alter service SVC1 (add contract CONTRACT2);
But You can only send message using contract1, when you try to send msg using contract2, it always say can not find CONTRACT "contract2".
The following query shows the contract is there.

Receiving Message --&&> DTC Was Installed By The SQL Server. Please Reinstall!
Jan 6, 2006While attempting to configure DTC on a Windows xp Pro, SP 2 machine I receive the error message [DTC was installed by the SQL Server. Please reinstall!] Where do I find this installation file to complete the requested task -- any help would be awesome -- I have tried down loading hotfixes, and security updates that mention fixing problems with DTC -- but alas they did not fix my error ;-)
App Receiving Options Message From Service Broker
Nov 2, 2006I have an app receiving messages from SQL Service Broker when data is updated. (Messages are located at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.data.sqlclient.sqlnotificationinfo.aspx )
When I run this app against a remote SQL Server, I receive the message "Updated" which I expect.
But when I run the same app against the local machine SQL Server, I receive the message "Options".
Does anyone know if there are SQL Server options that must be set to certain values?
I can't seem to find anything that troubleshoots this message... either from a SQLServer- or a .NET standpoint.
Receiving An Error Message That There Is Not Sufficient Disk Apce To Intall SQL Server (but There Is)
Feb 6, 2008I downloaded this program, and when trying to intall I am receiving an error meesage that there is insufficient disk space to install.
I have 98GB available on C and 107 GB available on D. I am on an IBM Intellistation dual processor 3,08 Ghz with 4GB RAM and 240 GB Disk (those are "G"'s), so I have tons of capacity. This has to be a problem with the .msi - any suggestions?
Receiving Error Message SERVER FAILED TO CONFIGURE THE SERVER.
May 24, 2005I installed Micrsoft Server Desktop Engine from the CD I received in
my ASP.net book. The installation went fine and then I went to the DOS
prompt and did the "setup SAPWD..." and it ran. I restarted my computer and
opened ASP Matrix and went to the Data tab and proceed to connect to
the server. It gave me an error message it couldn't connect.
So I
uninstalled MSDE and made sure the sql2ksp3 folder was gone. So I went
ahead and installed the MSDE again from the CD again and then went to
DOS
to do the setup. It ran through the setup until the very end with 11
seconds remaining and received error message " Setup failed to
configure the server. Refer to the server error logs and setup logs for
more information. I have tried it several times and it always
stops around 11 seconds. I have tried to install the download from
microsoft.com
instead the CD and that didn't work also. So at this point I
am stuck. PLEASE HELP!
I also checked my Registry keys for a file called PendingFileRenameOperations and it wasn't in the registry keys.
If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

DBA Contract Without Local Admin Priveleges
Apr 30, 2007O what a place to be I started this Contract as an (Interim) for a new DBA role, for an application support Company last month & all was going well. The User Application is run via Citrix against multiple Hosted Sybase ASA Databases. I introduced SQL 2005 with Reporting Services as a mixed Data Mart Remote Query via ODBC Linked Servers setup. Because they had never had a DBA before the Data I was able to pull from over thirty seperate databases into one and present via Reporting Services has blown them away. And then one day the Senior Support Analyst told me he had put the main most important Sybase Database on a completely seperate domain he had created(with no Trust between the two) , because he was unable to secure the existing domain against unauhorized remote internet intrusion & Viruses. (I never liked the idea that hosted customers were domainusers on the Corporate network) To add insult to injury he then told me to install & maintain another SQL Box on the new domain, OK so far. I logged into the supoposed new box via citrix & then remote desktop, and to my disbelief he had the desktop locked down - no access to control panel or anything - he asked me why i needed access - I told him - he asked me why I need to have reboot priveleges - I told him. So now he's installed 2005 himself in the vain hope I can work without Local Admin privelages or need to unlock the Desktop - he certainly won't give me Domain Admin. I Just cannot believe I'm unable to persuade him to Unlock the Desktop & have even threatened to walk out unless he lets me do my Job. He probably does'nt like me but there can be absolutely no question about my abilities or accessing data that i should'nt. He's basically read a Deny by Default article and expects me to start of as a user with a locked desktop and then request & justify escalating my security from there. Is this possible ? Calculate Contract Days In Financial Year
Feb 4, 2015I have a table with 3 fields: Contract_No, Start_Date, End_Date. I need to calculate how many of the days between the Start and End dates fall within each financial year (FY) beginning 1st April and ending 31st March.
So for example if the Contract Start_Date is 26/01/2012 and the End_Date is 20/05/2012 or is null then the number of days for 2012 FY is 49 (counting from 01/04/2012 to 20/05/2012).
If the End_Date is null for the same contract, then the number of days for 2012 FY would be 365.
Since the contract period from Start_Date to End_Date might span more than one or even several FY I need to be able to show this in columns seperately for each FY. What is the best way of achieving this?

Contract And Queue Confusion If Named The Same Plus Positioning Issue.............

The problem I was having regarding re-enable a queue was because it was in another database. I am guessing it did that because the contract and Queues have the same name. I double checked and nothing pointed to that database. I fixed it because I can re-enable the queue in the other database and it is fixed. My question is why did this happen? The other issue I am still having is regarding why the queue got disabled to begin with. I understand that it was because of positioning but do not understand how or why and how to provent it from being disabled.

Server Broker Contract Talking To Multiple Computers

I solved the previous issue I had and now need to find out how to make it so I have Service Broker running on one machine and the services running on another machine. I mean you can set a connection string to post a message to the service broker but then it will need to respond and the connection string in the method called does not allow you to put a server in the connection string. The other issue is because the stored procedure calls the method in your code based on a namespace and then a method but does not specify a server. I am sure a way exists but am not familiar with it. This is the last piece of the architecture I need to work out before I finish designing the system.

I haven't been able to find a way to have the first group cells overlap each other. Is there a way to do that and am I missing something obvious?

SQL Server 2008 :: Replicate Only Specific Data To Specific Subscriber?
Jun 30, 2015We have a "main" SQL 2014 server who imports XML files using SSIS in a datacenter. In remote sites (which are warehouses), there is an instance of SQL 2014 Express. A merge replication is setup, as every operations done on each site must be "forwared" to the main database, as some XML files are generated as output for an ERP system.
Now, the merge replication replicate all the data to the server on each sites. But a specific site don't need the data of every other sites, only the data relevant to itself (which is the warehouse code). Is there a way to replicate only the data relevant to each individual sites to the subscribers? Or is there a better way than replication to accomplish this?
Can Logging Be Turned Off On Inserts To A Specific Temp Table From A Specific Sp?
Oct 10, 2007I want to ship 500,000 aged transactions each night to an archive table and delete them from their source table in one or more logical units of work (LUW). Each row is approx 60 bytes and there is only one non clustered index on the source table presently.
I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of 3 alternatives. One of them would basically insert the non-aged rows into tempdb, ship the aged records, truncate the table and then insert the tempdb records back into their source all in the same LUW.
For this alternative, I'd at least like to turn off logging when the records get inserted into tempdb as I dont see any value in logging that part of the activity. Is this possible?

I don't know whether anyone has this problem, but I am definitely not using the right keywords to search for a thread.
My situation is this...
I have a dataset that has values to fill cells to multiple tables in a report.
However, I only want to select specific data from the dataset to fill textboxes and others.
I cannot change the stored procedure, but the sample of the data is shown below:-

I know it looks weird, but the row really represents which "row" or textbox is it to fill with the Val. The Stat Column is just a way to make sure that I am filling the right values.
so my new report would have multiple tables to denote different categories.
In my first table, I tried putting the cells as follows:-

I tried putting it into the headerrows instead of DetailRows, and it ended up printing the last value.
Is there anyway to do this ? print all the values out in one table ? I tried using textboxes, but I think I got my expression wrong.

Assign Specific Data To Specific Users

I have my Projects Table, my Users Table, and am creating a third table to track issues. I'm wondering what is the best way to assign specific users to specific data/projects. The user should only be able to view & update the projects assigned to him. He should not be able to see other projects. What is the best way to assign projects/data to the users to make sure they are only viewing their data?

Selectively Receiving
Aug 3, 2006I have a scenario whereby I will have 200+ clients putting messages onto a service broker queue. This message will go through a pipes and filters based messaging system, and ultimately the message will pop out the other end.
Here's the question: what is a good way of making sure the same client gets the response to the message he received. Is there anyway I can selectively receive messages from a queue, i.e., pass a correlation id in with the message, and then filter messages based on that id.
Or if someone knows a better way to do it altogether i'd really appreciate it.

RECEIVING From QUEUE By ConversationHandle
Jul 12, 2006Is it possible to receive from a queue by a conversation handle? In the documentation there is an example that show you how to do it. Yet, if you "read" the whole document it says that the conversation handle can not be an expression.
The WHERE clause of the RECEIVE statement may only contain search conditions that use conversation_handle or conversation_group_id. The search condition may not contain any of the other columns in the queue. The conversation_handle or conversation_group_id may not be an expression.
Here is what I'm trying to do:

WHERE conversation_handle = @Conversation_Handle
It doesn't seem to matter if I use RECEIVE or SELECT. It will return nothing.
I've even tried this:

Why am I doing this? I've put something into the queue to let me know that something is processing. When it is done I want to pull it out and end the conversation.
So is the WHERE conversation_handle = @Conversation_Handle supposed to work?

SSIS && Receiving Mail
Oct 31, 2007I am right now looking at the new functionality in SSIS to cover some of the ways we can streamline proceses in the company. I know that SSIS has SendMail tasks, however I was wondering if there is any functionality for going out and receiving mail and parsing those messages in? Would this have to be done as custom code within SSIS and if so can anyone direct me to what would be needed to do so? Thanks.

Feb 26, 2008I created a new column and modified my businesslogic file and the stored procedure. My program uses the SQL helpder class to execute the stored procedure which inserts the article into the database. All of the other previous columns are getting written to, however the new column I created is getting NULL when I open the database to inspect. Why does this happen? I made sure the db column name matches exactly with the params elsewhere.Did I miss something? It's not throwing an error anymore. it's not taking the data I enter into the form and putting it into the db column.

I have just had SQL Server 2005 installed on my machine. I did have SQL Server 2000 on my machine previously and can still access parts of 2000.
In 2005 I do not have the option schema option under security for any of the databases; therefore, I tried creating the schema manually as you will see below.
In 2005 I execute the following
CREATE SCHEMA TEST
GO
The message returned is "COMMAND COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY"
I, then, execute the following
CREATE TABLE TEST.SalesPeople
(
SalesPersonId INT,
SalesPersonName VARCHAR(50)
)
GO
The message returned is
Msg 2760, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Specified owner name 'TEST' either does not exist or you do not have permission to use it.
Can you give me the correct syntax on how to create the schema manually? Do you know why this is not showing up under security for the databases?

RECEIVING Messages From A Windows Service
May 2, 2006I've done a bit of work with the External Activator but I think it may be a bit overkill for what I need to do (which is RECEIVE messages from a single queue and process them with managed code). I've tried creating a Service Broker Interface service that retrieves messages from this queue, but I notice that if I set the timeout to -1 to watch for messages indefinitely, the Service never completes the OnStart code.
I notice if I change the service's timeout to something greater than 0, the message is retrieved, but this defeats the purpose of using a Windows Service app, which I want to continuously monitor the queue. I noticed the External Activator spawns a thread to start monitoring an EventNotification queue, which I can bypass since I want to monitor the notification's target queue.
Rushi, can you point me in the right direction to create a Windows Service that constantly monitors a queue? Also, I'd like the ability to monitor multiple databases (the queue name would be the same) as well, so if that is not feasible from a Windows Service please let me know.
Also, am I sacrificing scalability by NOT using the External Activator and switching to a Windows Service (I believe the External Activator will spawn multiple instances of the processing executable)?

When I save the application event viewer and open it in another server, I do not see the above message, instead I get the following message:
" Can't find or load message DLL. Message DLL must be in path or in current directory."
Any thoughts to overcome this problem is appreciated.
