When I added some a new record to Table_Name with Status='X' nothing happened. I have tried to exec only script below:

and I received email notification.

Good afternoon everyone,
I hope that I am not asking a question which has been answered many times in the past, I did a search but could not find an answer. These may be beginner questions, so bear with me as I am something of a beginner.
This week our organization updated from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005. We are using a Microsoft Access front end for this data and the information is entered through forms into the correct tables. When our researchers are enter the information they also have to sometimes search existing information to ensure they do not duplicate what is already in there. For this we use several access queries. This has worked well on the SQL 2000 server without any issues. However, now that we are on 2005 we are starting to recieve ODBC Call fail errors and errors which specify that they are a result of a deadlock. My first question is, are the ODBC call fail errors possibly locks which caused the ODBC connection to time out? My second question is why am I recieving these errors in 2005 but not 2000?

Trigger Procedure Execution On Database Creation.

Is there a way to trigger the execution of a procedure when a database is created ? We're using this 3rd party system in which you only specify the database server. Whenever the users create a new "Storage Area", the system actually creates a new database.
I need to handle backups for that system so I want to create a procedure that will generate a backup device and backup jobs automatically whenever a database is created.
I will also need 2 procedures to handle database renaming and deletion. I searched around but can't find a way to trigger the execution of my procedures.

I am trying to dynamically log thechanged fields on the table to another table, so I am iteratingthrough the bits in COLUMNS_UPDATED() to find what's changed, andgetting the column name programatically. This is all working fine.If I do a regular insert command in my trigger then everything worksfine. When I need to connect via my local machine, remotely, I connect via a VPN, can connect with SSMS and do whatever I need. However, if I use a linked server on my local machine (still connected via VPN), I receive the logon error
Msg 17892, Level 14, State 1, Line 1
Logon failed for login 'sa' due to trigger execution.
The trigger is below and it logs any failures, except for the linked server.
If I disable the trigger, the linked server connects ok.

A few weeks ago I've done a SQL Server migration from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2014.It was a bit tricky but anything worked fine.
I have some legacy VB6 (Visual Basic 6) applications written in house which worked with Databases on the old SQL server 2000.Surprisingly, these applications worked well after the upgrade to SQL Server 2014 without having to change a piece of code.
Now, some users tell me that they receive some unusual message when saving data from these legacy applications.After investing for a few hours, I discovered that triggers are not executed when those users try to save data from grids or forms in their applications.Trying to reproduce the INSERT statement in SQL Server Management Studio, the triggers run well.From the application, they don't.
These applications connect to Database Server thru OLEDB connection with the following ADO connection string :
Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Password={password};User ID={user};Initial Catalog={db};Data Source={datasource}.the {user} is a true SQL account who have read/write/delete access in the databases.
On the web there is a lot of questions involving the same issue, but only from SSIS.I found some articles about an OLEDB connection parameter named FastLoadOptions with a value of FIRE_TRIGGERS, but nowhere how to put it in the ADO OLEDB connection string.
how to reactivate the "normal" use of triggers from an ADO OLEDB connection ?Either with some obscur parameter in the connection string or options somewhere in the SQL Server 2014.
SQL Server 2008 :: Login Failed For Login (DomainNameUserName) Due To Trigger Execution
Sep 23, 2015All the logins with sysadmin role are locked out in one of the SQL server. Also in that instance Logon trigger is implemented which allows only certain users with Windows Authentication to logon.
This server is converted into single user mode by using command prompt. Now we are attempting to connect to SQLServer using command sqlcmd -S FTCPU3239 (since we do not have any other login) and create a new login with sysadmin role but are refused due to logon trigger. it says Login failed for login 'DomainNameUserName' due to trigger execution.

Aug 23, 2007after moving off VS debugger and into management studio to exercise our SQLCLR sp, we notice that the 2nd execution gets an error suggesting that our static SqlCommand object is getting reused from the 1st execution (of the sp under mgt studio). If this is expected behavior, we have no problem limiting our statics to only completely reusable objects but would first like to know if this is expected? Is the fact that debugger doesnt show this behavior also expected?

This post is regarding what appears to be a discrepancy between the SQL Server execution plan and the actual time taken by a query to run. My brief is to produce an attendance system for an education establishment (I presume you know I'm not an A-Level student completing a project :p ). Circa 1.5m rows per annum, testing with ~3m rows currently. College_Year could strictly be inferred from the AttDateTime however it is included as a field because it a part of just about every PK this table is ever likely to be linked to. Indexes are not fully optimised yet. However, my understanding is the cached plan substitutes literals for parameters anyway. BUT the text output is:(10639 row(s) affected) First query took: 596 milli-Seconds (10639 row(s) affected) Second query took: 2856 milli-SecondsI appreciate that logical and physical performance are not one and the same but can why is there such a huge discrepancy between the two? They are tested on a dedicated test server, and repeated running and switching the order of the queries elicits the same results. Sample data can be provided if requested but I assumed it would not shed much light. BTW - I know that additional indexes can bring the plans and execution time closer together - my question is more about the concept. Execution In Scheduled Job Vs Direct Execution
Nov 29, 2004Here's my case, I have written a stored procedure which will perform the following:
1. Grab data from a table using cursor,
2. Process data,
3. Write the result into another table
If I execute the stored procedure directly (thru VS.NET, or Query Analyser), it will run, but when I tried to execute it via a scheduled job, it fails.
I used the same record, same parameters, and the same statements to call the stored procedure.
Any idea?
Job Notification

My SQL server email job notifications have stopped working, but mails sent through the xp_sendmail command still work.
The only thing that has changed recently is the SQL server agent account passwords have been changed, these accounts are normal win2000 domain accounts.
Any ideas cos I am fully stumped?

Notification Upon A Sql Job Not Run
Jan 31, 2008I wish to know if there is anyway to find out if a perticular job on SQL Agent was executed or not. I am not looking for Log History of the job, but, something like a trigger that will fire an email to notify that a perticular job that was scheduled to run at a certain time did not run.
To explain in detail, I have a job that is scheduled to run every 15 min. This job is crutial and I wish to be notified if the job was not run for some reason or other. I already have a program that delivers me the history log of the job each day, but, checking history to see if the job ran or not every 15 min is not possible. Again, I am not talking about the job success or failure, but the fact that the job has run or not - thats it !
If you are suggesting a SMO object, I will appriciate if you provide me with the code or alternatively a source to refer.

DTS Mail Notification
Sep 12, 2000I have set up SQL Mail on a SQL 7.0 box and I can successfully schedule tasks and receive e-mails from them. However, when I try to get mail notification from a scheduled DTS package I run into problems and no mail is sent. Under Profile Name the only item selectable is Microsoft Outlook. I've tried selecting this as well as leaving the profile blank and nothing seems to work. We use POP3 server and Microsoft Messaging. Our corporate e-mail system is Notes so we forward mail through the POP3 server via Internet mail to our Lotus Notes system.
Any suggestions so that we could get our DTS mail notification working? Anything I could try that I haven't?

Aug 10, 2004Does anyone know if there is any software available that notifies specified people when an error above a certian level occurs. Im thinking along the lines of email and text message.
Im running sql server 2k at sp3a level, and the software will have to be compatible with it so as to get the event notification to pass the information on.

Job Failure Notification

I have scheduled a job that runs every minute.
If the job does not succeed, then I would like my front end application to be notified.
I am not sure if this is a reasonable way but I am thinking of somehow
populating a table (Only if the scheduled job fails) in sql server and then read that table every minute from the front end application.
So, is it possible to populate a table if a job fails?
I do not see any options for this in the properties of the job.
