Table 1 can be searched by date, or Name or DOB I want the result of this search to go through table 2 and return to me all emails that match thre previous results RxIds

For example Table 1
RxNumber, RxId, RxDate, Name, Notes, Type, DOB

Trying To Retrieve Info From Db- Not Sure How To Label This Question

Sep 7, 2004

I have a table that has a column with multiple manufacturer names. Many rows are identical manufacturers. I want to create an asp page that shows only one instance of a particular manufacturer.

Basically if I have 30 entries of Manufacturer 1, 40 entries of Manufacturer 2, etc. I only want to see Manufacturer 1 and Manufacturer 2 once in the display, not as many times as it is listed in the column. Is this an ASP or SQL question?

Basically I know the beginning should look like this:

Code:

SELECT Col1, Col2
FROM dbo.tbl_Myinfo
ORDER BY Col2

But that is about the extent of where I know what to do.

I wanted to create this so I can list the manufacturers that I currently have loaded in my SQL table/ available for more detailed searching.

Cannot Retrieve Code Page Info...

Nov 20, 2006

Hello again!

I got a problem using an OLE-DB Source in my data flow task. It is an Informix-Server using the newest OLE DB-Driver provided by IBM. However, when I set up the OLE DB-Source with connection manager and SQl-Query, I get the following warning message:

Warning at {2B334CA3-A792-4BC2-93AA-12FADCF1E696} [OLE DB Source [45]]: Cannot retrieve the column code page info from the OLE DB provider.  If the component supports the "DefaultCodePage" property, the code page from that property will be used.  Change the value of the property if the current string code page values are incorrect.  If the component does not support the property, the code page from the component's locale ID will be used.

Later when I try to execute the package, the destination adapter gets errors like

Error 3 Validation error. Data Flow Task: OLE DB Destination [2985]: Columns "antrag" and "Antrag" cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types. Informix_OLEDB.dtsx 0 0

I guess that SQL Server cannot get the data types from the Source.

Has anyone an idea? Thanks in advance!

Recovery :: AlwaysOn Availability Groups Server Logins Fails When Switching Between Nodes

Jul 9, 2015

I am setting up a 3 node cluster as part of an availability group.Initially I tested failover between nodes using SQL Management Studio and everything failed over successfully when I stopped a node, and I was still able to write queries. I started to test with an application which connects using an SQL user and whenever I would switch nodes, I would get login failed. I believe the cause of this issue is because the server logins SID's which are tied to the database are different than the server logins on the other nodes which resulted in login failed.how can I ensure that the server logins SID's are the same between nodes? Is there a way of copying this over or how is this supposed to be done? I read a little about contained databases where I could just set the login on the database itself vs. creating a server login but I would rather not go down that route.

Secure Connection Info In Configuration Files

Jan 11, 2007

Hi All

€™m just starting out with SSIS and am trying to establish architecture standards that are sound and workable. We will be developing BI solutions for customers who use our banking and finance package that runs on an IBM System i. Modularity is important as all our BI solutions will have a combination of re-used functionality along with varying degrees of unique functionality for each customer. My current area of interest is in externalizing all environmental factors and ensuring such things as passwords are protected.

I understand how configuration files work and how to use environment variables to provide a layer of indirection to them. At this stage we want to avoid encryption of packages and plan to use file system based deployment. We plan to use windows security for SQL server so I have no issue in exposing connection info here but for our DB2 connections we need to include user id and passwords. As I understand it, configuration files can not be encrypted so how do I store this externally while preserving its security. Nothing I have read so far has given me exactly what I need.

Binary Files In DB : Set Name On Retrieve

Nov 2, 2007

Hello, I have a table that stores binary files. When I serve them up to the user, I call the following page (serveDocument.aspx?DocumentID=xxx) which holds only the following code and pass the document ID:   Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Dim DocumentID As Integer = Convert.ToInt32(Request.QueryString("DocumentID")) 'Connect to the database and bring back the image contents & MIME type for the specified picture
Using myConnection As New SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("kelly_lmConnectionString1").ConnectionString) Const SQL As String = "SELECT [Content_Type], [Document_Data] FROM [lm_Service_Detail_Documents] WHERE [Document_id] = @Document_id"
Dim myCommand As New SqlCommand(SQL, myConnection) myCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Document_id", DocumentID) myConnection.Open() Dim myReader As SqlDataReader = myCommand.ExecuteReader If myReader.Read Then
Response.ContentType = myReader("Content_Type").ToString() Response.BinaryWrite(myReader("Document_Data")) End If

myReader.Close()
myConnection.Close()
End Using End Sub It works perfectly. But heres the thing: I want users to be able to right click on the link and chose 'Save Target As'. In IE 7, this works fine. In FireFox it saves the document as 'serveDocument.aspx'. Is there any way to inject the filename that I want to save the document as? Thank you.

Lost SQL Logins, But Still Have DB Logins - Script To Recreate SQL Logins?

Jan 21, 2007

ok, first, I know... I forgot to run a backup of the master database, and I forgot to run a script to caputure logins. Not that that is out of the way... I need to recreate the logins under the Securities tab below the databases. All the company databases have the user names and passwords assigned to them, but they are not able to login, because they are not able to authenticate to the SQL server first.

Is there a script that someone has that will copy the company database security info for the users and recreate them in the SQL security tab?

I know that I can rebuild them manually, but I need to delete them first in the application software, then delete them from the databases, and then recreate them in the application software... and as simple as that sounds... it is a slow moving process.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John

How To Build A Package To Ftp Files From BLOBs With FTP Connection Info Also Held In The Database

Apr 24, 2008

I have a table with embedded files in it and also ftp server/user/pwd fields so that each record has all the data and information required and need to configure an SSIS package to to FTP them to the destination as specified in the record within the databaseAt the moment I have a data flow task which uses a Derived Column and an Export Column transformation which creates the files to a temp folder then it runs a ForEach loop container back on the control flow to FTP each file and to then move each file to an archive folder.

All I think I need to know how to do is to somehow control the FTP connection settings with the fields from the database within this foreach loop, but it is a for each file collection. I also need to update each record saying it has been FTP'd as well
Do I need to have an initial query outside of this foreach loop to populate an array which can be used for the 4 FTP connection fields (server/user/pwd/directory), if so how?

Any ideas as to how to correctly finish this package.

Thanks

Sharepoint DB Recovery In Log Backup Files

Oct 11, 2011

I have an old sharepoint db (SQL Server 2000 Standard edition). What I need to try to recover is the data in log backup files from the docs table. I need to see if there is a way to get any data in the log backups from columns dirname, leafname and content. The column content is an image type which old documents (word, excel...). I don't have a full log chain since the last full restore so any data I can get out of the logs is better than nothing. I really just need to get the image files stored in the column content and place them in a shared directory for the users and let them see what they can use.

Recovery/attaching Database Files

Jun 2, 2006

hello, (this was originally posted in Administration Forum)

I am helping out with a disaster recovery of a database and i was given 4 files. 2 MDF and 2 LDF files. When I try to attach the files to SQL Server I recieve this err msg:

Server: Msg 823, Level 24, State 6, Line 1
I/O error (torn page) detected during read at offset 0000000000000000 in file 'E:chivirtualGPS0Dat.mdf'.
Connection Broken

I then tried many other combinations hoping something would work --> tried individual files, just data files, tried to create a new DB and then switching/replacing out with the files i needed...etc, nothing seems to work for me. The people I am trying to help out do NOT have backups.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. thanks...

SQL Jobs Calling SSIS Packages Within MSDB Not Referencing Connection Info In Config Files

Nov 13, 2007

I have deployed to production a number of nested packages (parent packages that call child packages) to the SQL msdb via the Save As option rather than building a deployment utility. These packages reference configuration files in a static location off of the c: drive on the production server. In the development environment, when connection changes are made and I run the Reload with Upgrade option the connection manager takes on the new server and user id settings. However, out on the production side I get the following error from the SQL job log:

Cannot load the XML configuration file. The XML configuration file may be malformed or not valid.

As a result the SQL job uses the default connection information which references the development database rather than the production database. I did research the error but found no good solutions. Is there a way to ensure the configuration files are formed correctly and that the packages are correctly referencing the configuration files? We are trying to run the ETL updates via a SQL job.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Recovery :: Point New Log Shipping Files To Different Drive

Jun 9, 2015

I have two databases on a Production Server that I want to Log Ship to a Test Server.  According to the sys.master files the physical File Location is on an E drive. Early attempts at Log Shipping these two files error'd out due to space issues on the E drive (one Log Shipped and then one err'd out).  I was subsequently informed from the server group that they would prefer that I Log Ship these two database files over to the M Drive where more space is available.  In fact, they modified the Server Properties / Database Settings / Database Default Locations (for Data and Log) to the larger M drive (I'm not really sure why they just don't increase the E drive space but there is proabably a good reason).

Okay, so now my problems have been solved.  Easy enough.  Now I deleted the successful Log Shipped database and started from scratch.  However, as before, one db restored and one failed (due to space issues).  Apparently, both db are pointing towards the E drive.  How is that possible?

So here I am with one successful database and the normal sys databases pointing to the E drive.  What is the best way of approaching this  move to the larger and preferred M drive?

SQL 2012 :: Moving DB Data / Log Files Within AlwaysOn Causing (Recovery Pending)

Jan 9, 2015

I'm trying to move a log file of a database that is part of an availability group. I have been following steps from the article: [URL]

At first this worked fine for me in a test environment. When I tried it in a production environment the database on the secondary went into "Recovery Pending" state and I can't get it out.

I checked to ensure that the dB is looking in the right place for the log file, and it is. It just doesn't seem to actually use the new file. If I start and stop SQL service, the dB comes back up and is fine.

Here are the steps I'm going through and what is happening at each step:

--------------------------------------
:Connect DEVSQL --This is currently PRIMARY
USE[master]
GO
ALTER AVAILABILITY GROUP [DP-AG-DEV] MODIFY REPLICA ON N'DEVSQL' WITH (SECONDARY_ROLE(ALLOW_CONNECTIONS = NO))

[Code] ....

All is good so far. Both the Primary and the Secondard have had their logical files changed, which has not taken affect yet because there has been no failover.

--Make SQL10 the PRIMARY
:Connect SQL10
ALTER AVAILABILITY GROUP [DP-AG-DEV] FAILOVER;
GO

SQL10 is now the Primary for this AG. And, as expected, the database [AG-Test] is in "Recovery Pending" because it is now looking for the log file in the new location. I need to move the file to the new location.

:Connect DEVSQL
--Enable XP_CMDSHELL
sp_configure 'show advanced options',1
go
reconfigure
go
sp_configure 'xp_cmdshell',1

[code].....

This is where the script is failing, returning the error:

Msg 1468, Level 16, State 5, Line 5

The operation cannot be performed on database "AG-Test" because it is involved in a database mirroring session or an availability group. Some operations are not allowed on a database that is participating in a database mirroring session or in an availability group.

Msg 5069, Level 16, State 1, Line 5

ALTER DATABASE statement failed.

I can not get the dB to recognize the log file at it's new location.

If I restart the SQL Service, it comes back fine, which seems to indicate to me that it is not a permission problem and confirms that the file is in the right place.

How do I force SQL to look for the log file again without restarting the service?

Recovery :: SSMS Won't Show Bak Files Or Even Folders Using Enterprise Admin Account?

Oct 16, 2015

I'm working on a newly installed windows 2012 R2 server which has SQL Server 2012 and SSMS installed on it. What has been odd is that when I open the "restore database" dialog, in the "Select Backup Devices", "Locate Backup File" dialog, only the immediate folders off of the root of the E: drive are visible. E: is where sql server data and backup files are stored.

The account I am logged in with is supposed to have Enterprise Admin rights. How is can I not see these folders and files? The files are certainly there and are visible to me on that login with windows explorer. I am able to backup via SSMS without issue.

When I look at the folder's permissions everything seems normal. If I add "Everyone" to that folder's permissions the folders and files become visible. The SQL Server service is running on the NT ServiceMSSQLSERVER account, which is normal for my other installations of sql server.

Moving DBs From SQL Server Logins To Windows Logins

Apr 3, 2007

I am a systems analyst and work with an app that runs against 2 SQL Server DBs. Though I have some familiarity with SQL Server and SQL, I am not a DBA.

The app executable is tied to a Windows service.
When we install the app, we run a process that builds 2 dbs to include:
Tables, indexes, stored procedures, views and user accounts.
SQL Server is set up for mixed mode authentication.

Normally, the dbs run off the local db user accounts which are tied to local logins with the same names.
We have a client that wants to remove our standard logins so that they can run on only a Windows login.
I know I should be able to tie the db users to a Windows login.
And I can do the same for the service.

But I am at a loss as to how to get this done.
How do you associate db users with a Windows login?
When I have tried sp_change_users_login I get an error that the Windows login does not exist. (Though I have added the Windows account to the DB.)

Hope this all makes sense.
