I am trying to recover a set of tables with data that was dropped. This data was not backed up. Please advice, is there any way this data can be recovered.

Mysteriously Dropped Rows Using Data Flow Task
Nov 2, 2006I'm using the Data Flow Task to load data from a flat file into a SQL table and I'm missing rows. And there doesn't see to be any consistent or obvious reason why.
When I use the Bulk Insert Task I import the correct number of rows from the flat file. But when I use the Data Flow task and use a Flat File Source connected to a OLE DB Destination I get about 1/3 the right number of rows. So looking at these loaded tables at the same time I notice that the Data Flow Task method just skips rows sometimes.
Why does this happen??
Can We Pause Log Shipping, Bring Primary Db To Simple Recovery Model And Then Back To Full R Model?

We have the following scenario,
We have our Production server having database on which Few DTS packages execute every night. Most of them have Bulk Insert stored procedures running.
SO we have to set Recovery Model of the database to simple for that period of time, otherwise it will blow up our logs.
Is there any way we can set up log shipping between our production and standby server, but pause it for some time, set recovery model of primary db to simple, execute DTS Bulk Insert Jobs, Bring it Back to Full recovery Model AND finally bring back Log SHipping.
It it possible, if yes how can we achieve this.
If not what could be another DR solution in this scenario.

Having Difficulty Setting Back Up To Back Up File Wihout Datetime Stamp SQL 2K
Apr 24, 2007Hello,I'm trying to create a simple back up in the SQL Maintenance Plan that willmake a single back up copy of all database every night at 10 pm. I'd likethe previous nights file to be overwritten, so there will be only a singleback up file for each database (tape back up runs every night, so each daysback up will be saved on tape).Every night the maintenance plan makes a back up of all the databases to anew file with a datetime stamp, meaning the previous nights file stillexists. Even when I check "Remove files older than 22 hours" the previousnights file still exists. Is there any way to create a back up file withoutthe date time stamp so it overwrites the previous nights file?Thanks!Rick

Data Recovery??
May 14, 2001Hi,
I have SQL 7.0, SP2 running on NT 4.0 with SP5. I have a central publisher and
numerous subscribers using nightly merge push replication. There seems to be some
problem with the rollback after a failed attempt at replication. The publisher
states that there was no response from the sub database and that it was suspect.
From the sql logs on the sub, I can see that the db went into recovery mode,
recovered 100%, howerver all the data in the subscribing database has disappered.
The schema of all the tables is intact and the database still reads at its old
size ~2Gigs. I can't see the data though. The publisher or other subscribers have
suffered no similar loss of data. It seems that there was some sort of error when
the database was trying to rollback to where it was before the attempted
replication. Has anyone experienced anythng similar? Anyone know how I can
recover the data?
I ran a dbcc checkdb, but it reported no errors, saying that there were no rows
in any of my replicated tables.
Any help / suggestions are appreciated.

I made a big mess recently and i need an urgent help. We have 12 months of our company data located in 2 sql servers out of which one server contains 9 months of data (Say A)and another contains 3 months of data (Say B).
The server which contains 9 months data was taken a backup in June 1st week and this is the last backup to the databae in this server.
Now i have tried to append the 3 months data to the 9 months data. So i selected the export option of the B and overlooked the option of "Delete destination objects first".
This creared the disaster. It deleted all our 9 months data in A and wrote down the 3 months data in B.
Now i need to receover the 9 months data in A which was deleted.
Any help please.
I tried with Logexplorer evaluation version but it permitted me to only Northwind and Pubs database.
And also i have tried some other tools like MS SQL Recovery but as evaluation products they didnt helped me completely.
Please let me know if you have any other ideas.
Iam in complete risk, now. :(

Copy Table Data Back And Forth
Mar 16, 2006This is probably a dumb question.. but here goes.
I'd like to make a copy of several tables before changes are made to them so that I can 'roll back' if necessary.
What I 'thought' i could to was this:
select * into mytable_temp from mytable
and then to roll back..
truncate table mytable
Select * into mytable from mytable_temp
When I try and select back into my original table, it says I can't because the object already exists.. What is a better way to accomplish this????

We have merge replication set up between 2 instances of SQL 2005 through web synchronization. I was wondering is it possible if the subscriber adds data at their end can we selectively edit what data gets uploaded back to the publisher? Will this work if I add a filter to the appropriate article at the publisher or will that only limit what goes down to the subscriber rather than vice-versa?
Also, could we set up web sychronization if the publisher had no direct access to the IIS server (ie. was not on the same network, available only through port 80, 443)?

Getting Data From Dataset Back Into Database

I'm creating a website that collects dates in a calendar control (from Peter Blum). When the page containing the control loads it populates the calendar with dates from the database (that have previously been selected by the user). The user then can delete existing dates and/or add new dates.
I create a dataset when the page loads and use it to populate the calendar. When the user finishes adding and deleting dates in the calendar control I delete the original dates from the dataset and then write the new dates to the dataset. I then give execute the data adapter update command to load the contents of the dataset back into the database. This command involves using parameterized queries. For example the Insert command is:

Hope I'm expressing theproblem clearly?my questoin is, shall we do this in Database side, using triggers, orby informing our .net project to do it?1. since the records are coming around 1 millison per month, how can wehandling the performance issue?2. now the rules are still somewhat simple, seems at least we could doit by EXEC or SP_EXECUTESQL. but rules may turn quite complex, forexample, audit log, or more complex issues, shall we do it in .netprogram? but how can a trigger in SQL database informing a .netprogram, or webservice, or windows service? by executeing an executableconsole program?3. user may raise more and more rules, how could we provied a flexiblesolution? i mean we're trying to build it less hard-coded. seems in sqldatabase EXEC or SP_EXECUTESQL are still somewhat flexible, while in..net to do something like eval() in javascript or EXEC in sql server isa little bit troublesome. but, put all these bussiness logic in storedprocedure sounds a little bit weired.guys, hope i have made myself clear. any suggestion?
