Recreating A Sql Server 2000 Database As A 2005 Database

I am working on a project that was written in Visual Studio 2003 using asp.net and C#. The project accesses a SQL Server 2000 database. I need to test the application. What I want to do is to copy the database over to a test server. The problem is that the test server only has SQL Server 2005 on it. Would it be a problem if I backed up the database using SQL Server 2000 and then recreated it on the server as a SQL server 2005 project? Would my source code accept the new database even though it would now be in sql server 2005?
I was using SQL SERVER 2000 ... In one table I've created FULL TEXT SEARCHING ( Full text catalog along with full text indexing)
Now we had to install our db in SQL SERVER 2005 standard edition. But while taking script it gave me two lines like:

so I used this in the new db creation script...
But I couldn't get where it actually is in SQL SERVER 2005 standard edition.
and also plz help how should we create if it doesn't exist...
I am trying to move a database which I wrote in SQL Server 2005 to a SQL Server 2000 database. I'm not sure the best way to do this....... Can anyone enlighten me?.....
Then I deleted an entire database from the "Enterprise Manager". And refreshed the Query Analyzer. Then I again tried to create the database. I used 'EXEC sp_helpdb' to view all the databases, but the database 'ContactManager' was not there. Where is the problem?
I'm in a bit of a bind. We have a database that spits out a classic corruption error message whenever attempting to run scheduled maintenance:
Error:605, Severity: 21, State: 1 Attempt to fetch logical page ### in databbase 'db1' belongs to object 'table1' not object 'table2'
SQL Books Online says to check with DBCC checkDB and CheckAlloc asap, which I did, and CheckAlloc confirmed the corruption. Books Online's only advice at this point is to restore the DB from a clean backup.
Herein lies the problem. One I'm assuming has happened to many a DBA as well.
This particular message has been going on for months, and there is no "clean" backup of the database, because no-one here at the time knew there were any problems to take precautions. Now I'm here with a corrupt database, and no idea how one goes about reconstructing a DB from scratch. Does anybody out there know any good options?
Hi i am a newbie and an developer i have an issue the Development we are doing is on sql server 2005 and we are wanting to send this database for a front end team to develop fromt end and they are using sql server 2000 , will there be any problems with regarding to version. if there are problems what would be the way to provide them with the Data.
Our product currently works with Cystal Reports but we decided to enhance it so it works with another reporting platform (MS Reporting Services). We are in the beginning stages of developement and trying to decide which version of RS (2000 or 2005?) to build the reports and integrate our web UI with. Most of our clients are using SQL Server 2000 for their database platform and we don't anticpate them upgrading to 2005 in the near future.
I have a SQL 2k database backup and I restore it in sql server 2005.
Is this now a SQL Server 2005 database or a 2K database in a 2005 server.
Means do I need to convert databases somehow when I migrated from 2000 to 2005. Is the above mentioned way a way to migrate... or are ther some conversation tools.
I am maintaining a .net 1.0 asp.net web application that accesses a SQL server 2000 database. I need to backup the database and then restore it on a laptop. Currently it resides on a server. The problem is that on the server they are using sql server 2005. If I backup using 2005 and then try and restore this database using SQL server 2000 or 2005 on the laptop, I get an error message. "Too many backup devices specified for backup or restore; only 64 are allowed. RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally. What can I do to restore the database? Must it be backed up with SQL server 2000 and then restored with SQL Server 2005? Please help!
hello friends, i am facing a problem in SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. The database created in the SQL Server 2005 Express is when opened in SQL Server 2000, it changes the data type of all the columns of all the table to text type. can anybody help me?
I'm running 2000 databases in a 2005 server. Can anyone tell me if there are adverse effects in doing this? As I understand it, the 2005 performance benefits are available to databases running as 2000(Ver80) But some of the new futures may not be available.. And any documentation from Microsoft/white papapers regarding this subjects are appreciated..
Hello, We want the reporting tool to be integrated with visual studio 2005. From my understanding SQL reporting services 2000 can be integrated only with visual studio 2003 (Please correct me if I am wrong) . Hence we have decided to go for SQL reporting services 2005 I understand that SQL reporting services 2005 can be used with SQL server 2000 database. I want to know if SQL reporting services 2005 and SQL server 2000 database are on a single machine, would a single license for SQL server 2000 suffice or should we have a license for sql server 2005 (since we use SQL reporting services 2005) as well.
I have used backup and restore method to upgrage 2000 databases to 2005 database. What do i need to do in order to for my application or users to use databse in 2005 and remove 2000
i have sql 2005 installed on my personal machine, but our server has sql 2000 on it. the structure of my database was made on the server, but i'm not sure how to update the server copy from my local copy. when i try to export my data from my local machine to the server (or import from my local machine to the server), i get pre-execute errors.
roughly every other week, i'll need to be able to update the server version from my local version, so i'm trying to find the most efficient method. what is the best way to update a 2000 database from a 2005 database? it doesn't matter if i append or overwrite, but i do use identity fields. the error i get when trying to use the import/export wizard is:

Is there any way to deploy reports to a Report Manager in SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 if the reports query SQL Server 2000 databases? Or are only 2005 databases able to deploy to the web?
Also, if I have a report that queries both, can I deploy it to the web on the 2005 Report Manager with a linked server to the 2000 server?
I also migrated the server level logins using SSIS transfer logins task, available on SSIS 'Transfer logins', I selected all the databases that I have migrated so that I have all database users account in server logins (to avoid orphaned users); but I don't have all the database users in server logins, also the sys.sysusers doesn't have the database users, that I have moved to SQL 2005. Can anybody help?
Also do I need to back up the SQL Server 2000 database and restore it on SQL 2005? What impact this operation can have?
I have a database called 'DB1' in SQL Server 2000. I want to create the same database in SQL Server 2005 Express including the original data in tables. How would I do that? I cannot find any option to do this upgrade in SQL Server Management Studio.

We have experienced an issue with back backup / restore of a database originating from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2003.
We have the following setup:
SQL Server 2000
- DatabaseA
- asdfUser (SQL User)
- asdfUser is (dbowner) of DatabaseA
- DatabaseB
- asdfUser (SQL User)
- asdfUser is (dbowner) of DatabaseB
SQL Server 2005 Standard
-asdfUser is NOT Setup as a user yet.
-We restore DatabaseA and DatabaseB to the SQL Server 2005 Standard. The databases are restored with the security permissions of asdfUser being the DB Owner of DatabaseA and DatabaseB.
-We create a new SQL user named asdfUser on the SQL Server 2005 box. We then try to add the UserMapping of DBOWNER for the DatabaseA and DatabaseB. We receive an error message stating that the asdfUser already have permissions to the databases. We proceed with the user creation without those permissions.
-We proceed to the login properties of the asdfuser and view their UserMappings. The asdfUser does not have access to DatabaseA or DatabaseB. We then add the UserMapping of DBOWNER to both DatabaseA and DatabaseB. We Try to select OK and we receive an error message that states that the user already has those permissions.
-When we query the UserID's of the asdfUser that is in the database and the UserID of the asdfUser that is created, they are two different values.
Hello: I have an old database created in SQL Server 2000, now I can open, access it in SQL Server 2005 Management Studio, but I can't create Data Diagrams. Please advise on how to make it work.... Thank you
I've seen threads concerning this problem. I have followed the prescribed steps to fix the problem. I've set the db owner to sa, I've set compatibility to 2005. Still I can't get the diagram to function.
When I try to migrate a database on a SQL Server 2000 server to a SQL Server 2005 server with the Copy Database Wizard of the SQL Server Management Studio, I'm confronted with the following problem;

When I take a look at 'Event viewer' on the SQL 2005 server, the following error is displayed;
InnerException-->An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
I already enabled the MSSQLSERVER network configuration protocols (TCP/IP and Named Pipes ).
