Remote Command Call Of DTEXEC Gives Insufficient For Component

Nov 9, 2006

We have schedule process server, calling SSIS package via command line (see below) to physical SSIS server. Get message "insufficient for component" and package call bombs.

Facts:

1. schedule process server has Workstation tools / Clients / Connectivity for SSIS loaded

2. SSIS is 2005, SP1

What are we missing?

The Product Level Is Insufficient For Component Excel Source In Remote Scenario

Nov 20, 2007

Hello,

I have a production machine and a developer machine with Ms SQL Server Management Studio I connected remotly to the integration services hosted in the production machine. Then I exported a package and then, when it was executed, I had the following error:

"the product level is insufficient for component excel source"

So I thought that it was because the excel file that I was trying to upload was in the developer machine, so I pointed the Excel Data Source to a shared folder but I still having the same error.

I have read another posts but I'm afraid because the conclusion is that I have to install the SSIS in the developer machine, I hope I misunderstood the solutions!!!

please help, thanks

Package Runs Fine From BIDS But Dtexec On Same Box Gives Insufficient Product Level Error

Mar 16, 2006

Running eval. edition of Sql Server Standard 2005. "Insufficient product level" error is thrown during validation phase of an OleDBCommand data flow task. This task type is not licensed in Sql Server 2005 standard? The component runs a very simple sql update statement against a one row table in Sql Server 2005.

If it works from BIDS, should it not work from dtexec.exe on the same box?

Does dtexec run under the security context of the logged in user?

Thanks,

Ken

The Product Level Is Insufficient For Component

Jul 27, 2006

We are trying to run SSIS DTSX packages from a VB.Net 2005 application and we get this error : The product level is insufficient for component.

The server is SQL 2005, the clients (for which the VB application is run from) have SQL 2005 Client tools (since there are running XP).

I know this is a known issue, as SP1 corrected the import/export problem in Management Studio, can we expect a similar fix when using SSIS locally on a client's machine via a VB.Net application and SQLServer 2005 assemblies ?

We are currently in the process of migrating our VB.Net 2003/ SQL2000 applications to VB.Net 2005/ SQL2005 and do not want to change the way we process our data, as we expected 2005 version to have the same functionality as 2003.

Thanks,

Patrick

The Product Level Is Insufficient For Component...

Nov 10, 2006

Hi. I'm using SQL Server 2005 Management Studio to try and run an SSIS package. One step blows up with this error: "The product level is insufficient for component "data conversion 1"". I checked out the thread here: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=112469&SiteID=1&PageID=0

However, after installing SP1, the program is still giving me the error. I'm running the package from my WinXP Pro SP2 workstation. What am I missing? Thanks.

Product Level Is Insufficient For Component Xxx

May 19, 2006

I developed some packages using BIDS. I only have the Workstation Components installed on my PC, SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition, SSIS, SSAS, etc.. are all installed on the server.

I can run all the packages fine, if I run from my own PC.

I deployed the packages to the server, but when I try to run the packages using SQL Server Management Studio, they don't work.

I'm getting an error message "The Product level is insufficient for component "xxxxx". I get this error for each component created in my package.

All the data files are on the server, even when I run using my own PC.

Any help would be appreciated.

The Product Level Is Insufficient For Component Flat File Source

Apr 5, 2007

Hi all,

I have created a dts (.dtsx file). which gets the data from my log file and insert into my sql 2005 table. In dts i am using 'Flat File Source' and 'OLE DB Destination' (becoz i need to acess my db remotely). When i execute this through 'SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio' it's working fine but when i execute this through my c# code, it throws me an error 'The product level is insufficient for component Flat File Source (1)'.

My c# code :

string strLocalPath = @"d:FTPServiceMyPackage.dtsx";

Application app = new Application();

Package package2 = app.LoadPackage(strLocalPath, null);

// Now that the package is loaded, we can query on

// its properties.

int n = package2.Configurations.Count;

DTSProtectionLevel pl = package2.ProtectionLevel;

DTSExecResult result2 = package2.Execute();

string strErrorDesc = "";

if (result2 == DTSExecResult.Failure)

{

foreach (DtsError local_DtsError in package2.Errors)

{

strErrorDesc = local_DtsError.Description;

}

}

Output of all objects :

n = 0

p1 = EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey

result2 = Failure

strErrorDesc = The product level is insufficient for component "Flat File Source" (1).

Please help me to solve this problem ASAP.

Thanks

The Product Level Is Insufficient For Component When Executing Package Using C# Code.

Jan 30, 2007

Hi,

I have created a Integration Services package that takes a table in a database, and transfers it to a flat file. This package has successfully run through visual studio 2005 as a .dtsx package, and given the output that I expected.

However, now, I am trying to excecute the package (as xml) using C#, and I am receving this error:

Error in Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.TaskHost/DTS.Pipeline : The product level is insufficient for component "Flat File Destination" (31).

I do not understand how a working package would have this kind of error.

Considering that it runs when I do not use C# code to execute the package means that I have SSIS properly installed, and I have the proper versions (or it should not execute ever). I have SP1 for both SQL Server 2005, and Visual Studio 2005 installed.

Other packages that I have created using C# code also have the same problem.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Same error appers while executed from Integration Services - ->stored packages - - >name of the package -> mouse right button, run package.

But the same executes perfectly from visual studio, where it is developed.

what could be the reason?

Dtexec Utility Command Line

So I was wondering if this will work. I believe that I will have to copy the DTExec.exe file to the PC where my bat file calls to the dtsx in the other PC. I am right?
My run.bat will have this line: \PCshared_folderpackage.dtsx.
Will this work?

DTEXEC Runs In Its Own Command Shell ?

Nov 29, 2007

Does anyone know if DTEXEC runs in its own command shell area? The reason I am asking this question is that we have hundreds of old DTS packages that fetch data from Source Progress double-byte and standard databases. When we fetch from a double-byte Progress database, the first thing we do is to set System Environment variables and within the same command prompt session invoke DTS packages via DTSRUN utility. THis method works like a charm using the old DTS packages. We are trying to accomplish the same thing using SSIS and are unable to do so. The SSIS package works fine while fetching data from a non Double Byte Progress database but fails miserably while using a Double Byte Progress database. Has anyone experienced something like this? Any solution for this problem?

Thanks

DTEXEC For Remote Execute

Feb 19, 2007

I have a legacy extraction ("E") .NET 1.1 application that is still going to be the driving force for our ETL process. We are going to be utilizing SSIS for "T" and "L". Now, the "E" phase is running on an application server where we have .NET 1.1 framework installed and working. The SSIS packages are running on a separate SQL Server. The problem here is - how do we call the SSIS package and be able to pass in the right parameters from this .NET app that runs on a separate box? We would like to use DTEXEC to call the remote SSIS packages through Integrated Security. The SSIS packages are stored as File System packages.

Remote Execution Of Package Via Dtexec And Access Denied

Feb 17, 2006

I am finishing a port of a project that was done with RS2000/AS2000/DTS2000. The cube process is triggered remotely by a Korn Shell script from Services for Unix that runs a DTS package:

dtsrun.exe /S "$ANALYSIS_SERVICES_HOST" /U "$ANALYSIS_SERVICES_USER" /P "$ANALYSIS_SERVICES_PASSWORD" /N "$PACKAGE_NAME"

I have finished porting the AS and RS parts to their 2005 equivalents and now I am trying to get the cube processing converted. I have built a SSIS package that processes the cube and I have deployed it to the SQL Server in MSDB. When I am logged on to the SQL Server box directly, I can execute the package via the Management Studio and from the command line via:

dtexec /Ser "$ANALYSIS_SERVICES_HOST" /DT "$PACKAGE_PATH_NAME"

When I try to register the SQL Server in Integration Services from my client PC Management Studio it fails with "Access Denied". When I try to run the dtexec from my client PC it fails with "Access Denied".

I have walked through Kirk Haselden's instructions at:

http://sqljunkies.com/WebLog/knight_reign/archive/2006/01/05/17769.aspx

(adding myself to Distributed COM Users, noting the correct DCom Config settings for MsDtsServer and restarting the Integration Services service) and the problem is still not resolved. I have posted to the DTS group on Technet and now I am posting here. This can not be run scheduled by SQL Agent as it needs to be triggered by other load/postload activities. Are there any other fixes for this problem that I can try?

Thanks,

Keehan

By the way, being able to have all the parts of this project in one dev environment is great. The previous application was developed in 3 separate locations which was pretty clunky.

How Do You Call RMD On A Component That Has No Editor?

Sep 2, 2007

I have a custom component that has no editor (i.e. NoEditor=TRUE in DtsPipelineComponent attribute).

This component derives all of its metadata based on the input (hence no editor is needed). What this means is that if the input changes in any way (e.g. the datatype of a column changes) my component will fail validation. That's not a problem, the problem is my Validate() method returns DTSValidationStatus.VS_NEEDSNEWMETADATA but ReinitializeMetaData() is not being called.

I get the familiar warning from the component:
Warning 1 Validation warning. Data Flow Task: Normaliser: The component has inconsistent metadata. TestHarness.dtsx 0 0

and when I double-click on the component I get the familiar dialog box:
TITLE: Editing Component
------------------------------
The component is not in a valid state. Do you want the component to fix itself automatically?
------------------------------
BUTTONS:
&Yes
&No
Cancel
------------------------------

but when I click on 'Yes', nothing happens. RMD never gets called.

The workaround is to detach and reattach the input (which results in a call to ReinitializeMetadata() ) or set NoEditor=FALSE in DtsPipelineComponent attribute but I'd rather not have to do that because strictly speaking the user has no need to edit the component through advanced properties.

Is there another way around this problem? Is there a way to call RMD on a component that has no editor?

Thanks
Jamie

Call AddRow() After All ProcessInputRow() Are Called In A Script Component

Jan 12, 2007

Hi Guys,

I am new to SSIS. Heree is the transformation I need to do. In database one, I have tables:

A

B

C

Where B is a detailed table of A, and C is a "derived" table of B. There is a one to one relationship between B and C, but there may be more than one record in B for each record in A.

In database two, we have the table structure:

AA

CC

And there is a one to one relationship between AA and CC. And I need to design a transformation to migrate data from database one to database two.

Table A(->AA) and B(->BB) will be easy, just one to one migration.

The mapping rule for table C(->CC) they decided was: I need to concate each record in B and C and for a record in CC. For example, suppose we have:

A1

B1(C1)

B2(C2)

A2

B3(C3)

B4(C4)

B5(C5)

Then we will have the following records in database two:

A_1

(B1+C1+B2+C2)

A2

(B3+C3 + B4+C4 + B5+C5)

I looked through all the stock data flow components, and it seems to me that none of them can perform this task, so I am thinking to design a Script transform component to do the task.

I have written the script:

in each ProcessInputRow() sub, I check record's foreign key to A, and if they are the same I concate the records, then I put them into a VB.NET collection. Once all the records are processed, in the PostExecute() function, I count the number of new rows, (in the above example 2), then I call AddRow to add the rows, by:

OutputBuffer.AddRow()

But this does not work, I got "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". It seems that in PostExecute, the OutputBuffer is not longer valid?

Help please! :)

Is there a better way of doing what I am trying to do?

Thanks!

Call FireQueryCancel() In A Script Component Within Data Flow Task?

Dec 18, 2007

I am trying to cleanly shutdown a dataflow task, which contains a script component, when RunningPackage.Stop() is called from the SSIS runtime.

I've been going in ever decreasing circles with no success - it looks like the cleanest way to find out whether RunningPackage.Stop() has been called is to call FireQueryCancel(). But I can't find any reference to anything useful in a dataflow task script component that gives me something that implements IDTSComponentEvents. The nearest thing seems to be Me.ComponentMetaData which gives a reference to IDTSComponentMetaData90, but this only has methods for calling FireError, FireInformation, FireProgress, FireWarning, and FireCustomEvent. But no FireQueryCancel.

Is there a way in a script component that I can find out the state of QueryCancel?

Any help would be apprecieated.

Using Parameters In The OLE DB Command Component

Apr 25, 2007

I am trying to use the OLE DB Command component in a data flow. I setup the connection manager and then entered the following SQL command.

UPDATE FCustomer

SET FId = CASE

WHEN ISNULL(@p1, 'N') = 'Y' AND @p2 IS NULL THEN '2'

ELSE '3' END

WHERE Id = @p3

AND CustomerId = @p4

So after that I went to the parameter tab and tried to set the data types. I assigned the data types. Mapped the fields to the paramters and hit ok. Ran the package and failed with a cast/conversion issue. When i went back in the parameters are all set back to the Integer 8 data type. I change, go back in and reset again. The help file says I can change the parameter names and data types, which it allows me to do, but never saves the settings.

Am I doing something wrong? Is this not possible?

Remote Procedure Call

Jul 25, 2002

I have a SQL2000(sp2) database (ServerA) and a SQL7(sp2) database(ServerB)
From the SQL2000 database I want to call a remote stored procedure on ServerB and store the result set in a table on ServerB.

E,g

insert TableA
exec ServerB...sp_GetStuff

If I try this by making serverB a remote server,
I get the following error message
Server: Msg 18456, Level 14, State 1, Line 1
Login failed for user 'sa'.
If I make ServerB a Linked server, I get the error
Server: Msg 8501, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
MSDTC on server '' is unavailable.
Server: Msg 7391, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The operation could not be performed because the OLE DB provider 'SQLOLEDB' was unable to begin a distributed transaction.

Now the MSDTC on ServerB won't start - It returns error 3221229574 to which the solution seems to be to reinstall MSDTC which looks like a very messy job with registry hacks and also the threat of reformatting the hard drive So I don't want to do this if possible

I really don't want a distibuted transaction anyway so I tried to stop the transaction being promoted using
SET REMOTE_PROC_TRANSACTIONS OFF

But this has no effect

Any ideas would be appreciated"
