Jun 8, 2015I downloaded the AdventureWorks2012 OLTP script. When I ran it it gave me some errors. I also noticed that it tried to install into the bult-in master database, it created a lot of tables and objects. Some questions :
1) How can I remove everything that the script installed into master database?
2) Do I need to create 1st an empty database and then run the script there?
3) I am running the script from a custom path (C:DownloadsMicrosoft SQL Server 2012AdventureWorks 2012 OLTP Script.zipAdventureWorks 2012 OLTP Script) not sure if this is causing some of the errors as the script, in the beggining has a path to other folders :

I tried to remove AdventureWorksDB in the "Add or Remove Programs" of Contol Panel and I got the following errors: (1) AdventureWorksDB Error 1326: Error getting file security: CProgram FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL1MSSQLGetLastError: 5. |OK| and (2) Add or Remove Programs Fatal Error during installation (after I clicked the |OK| button). Please help and tell me how I can solve this problem.

How Do I Clean Up The SQL Server (ctp) From ADD/REMOVE Program Without The Change/remove Button
Oct 12, 2006I have uninstalled the CTP version of the SQL Server express so that I can install the released version but CTP version is still listed in the add/remove program list but without the change/remove button. I have been to different sites to find information on cleaning this up and I have ran all the uninstall tool I can find but the problem still prevails. I cannot install the released version without completely getting rid of the CTP version. Please help anyone.

Unable To Remove SQL Instance In Add/Remove Program

I am having a hard time removing my SQL instance inside the Add/Remove program. After i select the SQL Instance name and then I tried to remove it but it won't allow me to delete it. There isn't any error message or whatsoever. Actually, when i try to log it in my SQL Management studio, that certain sql instance name is not existing according to the message box. Is there any way to remove the Sql Instance in my system?

SQL 2005 Upgrade Problem - In Place Upgrade

We are running a test upgrade form sql 2000 standard edition 32 bit to sql 2005 developer edition 32bit. Followed through all the steps and specified the account(SA priveleges and currently used by the 2000 version) and is the local admin on the box for the services and the setup seemed to move fine, except for when it got to the point of installing database services - This is the error message that I got:
MSSQLServer could not be started. Verify you have sufficient priveleges to start system services. The was no choice but to hit cancel and then the set up progressed with a final message of 'SEtup failed'.
Here is a portion of the error log:

Upgrade Advisor Post-upgrade

I have a client whose DBA upgraded their SQL 2000 database to SQL 2005. They still have it running in 8.0 compatibility mode, for various reasons, and would like me to help them develop a migration strategy to get them to full 9.0 compatibility.
My question is: can I run the Upgrade Advisor on a SQL 2005 engine database running in 8.0 compatibility mode and get anything useful? I already know there will be some issues with existing DTS packages but it would be nice to catch any other issues in advance.
I know that the Upgrade Advisor was run before the upgrade took place but to my knowledge the report was not saved and none of the recommendations were followed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In Place Upgrade Vs Side By Side Upgrade
Jun 1, 2007SQL 2000 -> SQL 2005 upgrade on windows server 2003 ... We've done numerous side by side types of upgrades which have the advantages of being able to migrate things at a slower pace with limited downtime. I have a situation where it seems like it would be the least amount of work to do an in place upgrade involving 22 transactional in-house developed databases and associated in-house developed applications. There's no replication, no DTS packages, nothing I can think of that would complicate the upgrade. I was wondering if there's people out there that have done lots of these and haven't had any problems OR if there have been lots of problems. Anyway, any advice would be appreciated.

2. I remove the Dependencry.Start() from my application_start

I have a column DECIMAL(4,2). In a stored proc I am selecting this field and converting it to varchar so I can append certain characters to it (this is really irrelevant to my question). However, before appending the characters, I need to remove zeros after the decimal point.

How To Remove 1:1 Relationships
Sep 12, 2007I have an asset schema problem which I'm not too sure how to resolve....
I have an asset table which stores values common to all asset types. I have created seperate asset type tables(VehicleAssetDetail, PropertyAssetDetail, InvestmentAssetDetail) to store their specific details.
This in turn creates 1:1 relationships between "Asset" table and the respective detail tables.
If I were to store all the details in the "Asset" table it would cause a lot of redundancy bearing in my mind there are about four other asset type details I have excluded from the schema.
Are the 1:1 relationships bad? If they are, how do I resolve them without throwing all the columns from the asset details tables into the Asset table?
Attached is a 15Kb gif image of the schema. I'd really appreciate any help with this... :)
