I have not aliased pager as dbo. Are you suggesting to try this? I want the replicated tables to show a db owner of 'pager'. Here is another description of my situation (I think the first one may have been confusing):
I have a Database named Page with 'sa' as the db owner. The objects (tables and sps) of this database have the owner 'pager'. This is the way the database is defined on the Publication and Subscription Servers. But, when the replication process is completed, the replicated tables on the Subscription Server have the owner 'dbo'. I want my replicated tables on my Subscription Server to have the owner 'pager'. So, that the 4 replicated tables will have the same db owner as the existing tables on the Page Database.
Is this happening because I have the NT trusted connection which points to 'sa' on the SQL Server? If so, can I change the trusted connection to point to 'pager'? I am just guessing at this point. I will continue to research this issue. Someone has suggested that I go into EM, Manage Logins, select 'pager', and put 'dbo' in the Alias column for the replicated database (Page Db) row. I will try this.

If you alias pager as dbo, the object created by pager will show owner of dbo. This is the way sql6.5 works, but sql7 will show pager as owner.

I am in the process of replicating a table within a workgroup setup (not a Domain).
I notice that when the table is created on the Subscription Server the replication process is creating the tables with a db owner of (dbo). I want the tables to be created with 'pager' as the owner. 'pager' is already defined as a db owner in the source and destination database. In the Publication Server Source Database, 'pager' is the owner of the tables selected for replication.
How can I accomplish this? Currently, I am doing the following on both the Publication and Subscriber Servers: logging on NT as 'Administrator' and starting both services (MSSQLServer and SQLExecutive) with the 'sqlnt2' NT Login which is a member of the NT Administrators Group. The NT Administrators Group has been trusted to SQL Server on both machines.
I am using the NT4.0, SP3 and SQL Server 6.5 with SP5a.

I will try the mixed security tomorrow. I have in the mean time discovered that I am not able to use the odbcping.exe utility successfully. It returns the same 08001 error message (Specified SQL Server not found). Does this means that the problem is within ODBC? What are somethings that I can try?

You need mixed security, also check password of the sql service account on nt.

I have set up replication on two SQL Servers (6.5), SP5a, on NT 4.0 (SP3). The Distribution Task on the Publisher is failing with the following error:
08001[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][dbnmpntw]Specified SQL Server not found.
I am using standard security in a workgroup environment. I have my trusted connection setup and I am using named pipes. I had this process working on our test servers but when I tried to implement it into production I received the above message. Please give me some ideas or things to try. What source can I use to look up the 08001 error?
A former employee at my organization created a replication job to back up our database. The developer has since left and his windows account was deleted. I'm now receiving this error:
SQL Server Scheduled Job 'Replication agents checkup' (0xFC17DD4EF8E5694E8B786EE54CF8AD0D) - Status: Failed - Invoked on: 2007-06-05 15:40:00 - Message: The job failed. Unable to determine if the owner (username) of job Replication agents checkup has server access (reason: Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'username', error code 0x534. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 15404) The statement has been terminated. [SQLSTATE 01000] (Error 3621)).
How can I fix this? I looked under the Replication folder but didn't see anything.

Are you really moving all of your user data from the primary (or default) filegroup into another named group like is discussed in the swynk column for up-to-the-minute recovery?
I am not clear on the benefit of doing this. It appears to me that the inability to restore to current would only happen if the primary group was corrupt, and I don't read that this happens very often.

Hi, I have a little problem regarding getting owner name of object. In my application, user is creating a table with no owner name. He is logged with some login other than 'sa'.
The table is created with db's default owner name (if no server roles specified for that login) otherwise it uses the login's owner name mentioned in db properties.
Please guide me if i want the correct owner name under which the table is created, shall i use CURRENT_USER for that? Regards,
Hi,I currently have two databases (DEV & TEST) with the same users butdifferent owners. The TEST database is on a remote machine with 2database users - USR1 & DBO. The DEV database is exactly the same.However, when I create procedures etc the DEV database recognises theowner as DBO and the TEST database USR1.I have made USR1 an owner on DEV and I login using the correctcredentials. However it still is not recognising this when creatingprocedures.This is very frustrating when doing a SQL Compare as it thinks thestored procs are different!I have done a sp_changedbowner and this didn't work. We are using SQL Express and I have a problem with dbo. On my machine if I logon to SQL Express using windows authentication and create a new database I automatically have db_owner role membership on the new database. On a colleagues machine, if he logs onto his SQL Express using windows authentication and creates a new database he does NOT have db_owner role membership on the new database.
How come? I have checked pretty much everythng - windows built in admins, SQL express sysadmin roles service pack versions but I can not find any difference in setup. What should I do to his machine/SQL Express setup so he automatically has db_owner role membership for every newly created database?

hi, I just imported my access database into sql server 2000 and apparently during this importation the owner was set to my name. This gives my a problem retrieving the data in asp.net though. I found out that the problem (System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Invalid object name 'tablename') is situated at this ownership by stripping the query to a bare minimum and trying it on a new table created in sql server with dbo as the owner. My problem now is that I can't seem to find the way to change the owner to dbo from 'peterj'. Can you help me on this one ??
How can I get different between DBO owner and another user when I select SP name from SYSOBJECTS? How to compare a SP's create by DBO and another user? I want 'sa' to own all the user databases. Currently the database properties screen shows the owner as myself, 'al', but the list from the Users tab in EM for the database doesn't list me, but lists the dbo as login name 'sa'. DB_changedbowner 'sa' says:

BUT, who really owns the database; if it's 'sa' then why am I showing up on the properties page as the owner???

I have several Production Databases on my SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition Server (mixed mode authentication) that I'd like to change DBO Permissions on. When I look at the Properties of the DB(s) from EM, the Database owner is showing up as a Windows NT USer who is no longer even with the company!!
