Report Builder (rsaccessdenied) Error Message

Aug 9, 2007

Hi,

I have created a Report Model and published it on our QA environment Report Server(Where I dont have admin access). When I try to launch the Report Builder tool and create a sample report and Run the report it gives me this error. "The permissions granted to user 'Domainname/user group' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)" I checked with the Admins on this server the usergroup has a "Browser" Role. I had read on some online fourm that if user group has browser role it should work. But I cant get it work any help is appreciated.

I have published the same Report Model in Deveploment environment report server(where I have admin access) and when I do the same thing I am able to run the reports.

Some one please help me its causing delay in our testing.

Thanks
Ashwini

Error Message: Data Mining Query Builder Cannot....

Mar 12, 2007

Hello,

I wrote a data mining plug-in algorithm in SSAS and now I am trying to view the lift chart in Management Studio. The studio gives the following error:

"The Data Mining Query builder control cannot be initialized due to the following problem:
Deserialization failed: Multiple definition of element 'Column12' causes the content model to become ambigious. A content model must be formed such that during validation of an element information item sequence, the particle contained directly, indirectly or implicitly therein with which to attempt to validate each item in the sequence in turn can be uniquely determined without examining the content or attributes of that item, and without any information about the items in the remainder of the sequence."

I really do not understand what i did wrong. Can anybody help me?

Thanks, Joris

Report Builder: How Can I Append Two Table Fields To Report In Report Builder

Feb 6, 2008

Hi,

When i select datasource in Report Builder, i am able to see all the available DataSources.

Eg: I have selected one datasource from the list and which has 3 tables(table1, table2, table3) associated to that datasource.

when i drag and drop table1 fields to report, i am not able to see the other 2 tables(table2 & table3)

Is there any property or relationship do i need to maintain?

Thanks,
SR.

Report Builder Error When Running Report

Feb 13, 2006

Hello everyone,

I've come across an unusual error on some of our machines. I'm trying to track down why only certain ones will give an error. I thought it might have something to do with .NET 2.0 not being installed, but I assume that they wouldn't even be able to launch Report Builder if this is the case. I'm at the point now where I've been told these machines have .NET 2.0. I plan on trying to verify soon, but I thought I'd get everyone's opinion on what it could be.

With even the simplist report (just 1 field dragged onto the report) the following error appears: "Report execution error The report might not be valid or the server could not process the data." When I clicked on the details, the following appears: "The numeric portion of 0pt cannot be parsed as a unit of type Point. ----- The type initializer for 'Microsoft.ReportingServices.Design.Constants' threw an exception."

This model was created with Business Intelligence Development Studio and we're using SQL 2005 Enterprise.

Anyone have any thoughts on what this could be or how I can better troubleshoot it?

Thanks,

Dan

Report Builder Error

Dec 19, 2007

Any idea what this error means, only one of my user gets this error while opening report builder. If they switch to anothe r machine , everything works fine...

Cannot Open this Item. This report cannot be opened in report builder
Details:
System.IO.StreamReader: Deserialization Failed.The type initializer for 'Microsoft.ReportingServices.Design.Constants'
threw an exception. Line 2, Position 2

I am pretty sure its something machine related.None of the users have issues opening report builder except for this user on his own machine. He can always switch to a diff machine and login and view the reports.

I have also upgraded the MSRS 2005 to latest SP 2

Error RsAccessDenied

Aug 22, 2006

When I try to deploy one of my Reports I receive the following error :

Deploying to http://localhost/ReportServer

Error rsAccessDenied : The permissions granted to user 'BOGDANIUSR_BOGDAN' are insufficient for performing this operation.

That is because I configured IIS for those 2 folders ReportServer and Reports to accept anonymous . If I turn anonymous off and let windows authentification on he lets me to deploy the project , but I can see anymore http://localhost/Reports and http://localhost/ReportServer because he asks for password and I don't have any password set for the computer , nor for SQL Server . I just use Windows Authentification for all.

I searched through this forum but nothing is significant related to my problem

What is wrong here ?

Thanks

edit: I also changed in Reporting Server configuration , Windows Service Identity to Network service and implicit the account to : NT AuthorityNetworkService .

If I allow anonymous access from IIS to the Reports folder , then he loads but he shows me only the title and Home , Subscription links from de top right corner , nothing else ( no Properties tab , no nothing ) . Anyway there must be another way then selecting anonymous user , because the default was not selected .

Error Message In Set Datefirst 7 And Report Parameter

Nov 27, 2007

Hi,

I am setting my Dataset in SSRS to define the First Day of the week to Sunday.
So In the Dataset I put this scripting :
==================================
SET DATEFIRST 7;
SELECT city, country, datepart(wk,transactdate) as WeekNo from CatalogTable
==================================
The select statement above working very fine in the report.

But then, when I put in the Parameter which I have set in Report Parameter for a field called Service then I will get the problem.
For example the scripting below : ==================================
SET DATEFIRST 7;
SELECT city, country, datepart(wk,transactdate) as WeekNo from CatalogTable
where Service IN (@PService)
==================================
I have defined @PService in Report Parameter, and in the Parameter Tab in Dataset inside SSRS.
But it kept prompting me with the eror message :
Error Source : .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Error Message : Must declare the scalar variable "@PService".

When I remove the first line SET DATEFIRST 7; then my query working fine.

It seems SSRS cannot accept SET statement, whenever we insert the parameter in there.
Is there any workaround on this ?

Appreciate a lot for your help.

cheers,
Tanipar

error message : Error rsAccessDenied : The permissions granted to user '' are insufficient for performing this operation.

TargetServerURL : http://server.com/ReportServer$sql_2005

The Report server is configured to use a custom security extension. i can access the reportserver.

It looks like when i deploy the reports from VS. it does not pass any credentials to the report server. From the error message it looks like there is no username . How do i deploy reports to report server if we are using a custom security extension. How do i grant user rights to deploy report if we are using a custom security extension. Any idea. Thanks!

Modifying A Report Created In Report Builder In The Report Designer.

Jun 30, 2006

After I use the report builder to create a generic report, how do I actually get that report into the report designer so that I can modify it more effectivly?

The issue that I have now is that the file on the report server is not a .rdl file and if I simply save it as one and then bring it into VS to modify it the code file is a html structure rater than a XML file type.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Error Message: Report Item Expressions Can Only Refer To Fields Within The Current Data Set Scope Or, If Inside An Aggregate, T

May 14, 2007

Hi

I have a old report that was pointing to a different database, and i changed the connection string for that report and changed the field names (As per my new stored Procedure). In some places I keep getting this run time error, i have tried looking for all the hidden references to this field and i cannot find any parameter that the old database had. The error messages that i get are as follows:

[rsFieldReference] The Hidden expression for the table €˜tblContactInfo€™ refers to the field €˜PL_Admin_ShowInKit€™. Report item expressions can only refer to fields within the current data set scope or, if inside an aggregate, the specified data set scope.

[rsFieldReference] The Hidden expression for the table €˜tblContactInfo€™ refers to the field €˜PL_FA_ShowInKit€™. Report item expressions can only refer to fields within the current data set scope or, if inside an aggregate, the specified data set scope.

[rsFieldReference] The Hidden expression for the table €˜tblWithdrawals€™ refers to the field €˜PW_Comment€™. Report item expressions can only refer to fields within the current data set scope or, if inside an aggregate, the specified data set scope.

Can Someone please help me out as to how should i get rid of these error messages, they are kinda driving me nuts.

Regards,

Karen

Report Builder Using Report Model Based On Linked Server (Excel) - Primary Key?

Sep 6, 2007

I've created a linked server with a pretty basic Excel spreadsheet, and used this command to create a linked server to it:

sp_addlinkedserver ''XL_SPS_1', 'Excel', 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0', 'c:MyExcel.xls', null, 'Excel 8.0'

I want to use this as the data from which to build a report model. As linked servers don't show up in the Data Source View wizard, I created a view in SQL Server:

create view MyExcel
as
select * from XL_SPS_1...Sheet1$

Okay, great, now the view shows up in the DSV wizard and I can create the data source view. However, when I create a new report model based on this data source view, the Report Model Wizard tells me at "Create entities for all tables" that I've got an error when it processes dbo_MyExcel that "Table does not have a primary key."

I assume this is where the identifying attributes for the entities in the report model are taken from, so I really can't go further. Does anyone have an idea as to how to add a primary key to a linked server (Excel) in SQL 2005? Can this be done? Other than importing spreadsheet data to a SQL table, how can I get around this?

Thanks,
--Stan

Possiblity / Instructions On How To Install Report Builder Locally Without Hitting Report Server

Feb 16, 2007

We have a remote business client who has a proxy server setup and this translates into receiving a 407 proxy authentication blocking error when attempting to download the report builder application for deployment off the report server which is housed locally with us. The proxy server does not allow them to download application type files off another site. At the moment, they would not like to disable the proxy for these users to allow them to deploy the application on their client or add the report server as a trusted site. Is there a method by which Report Builder can be locally installed on the client pc instead of online only with it knowing the correct report server to access and then still launch correctly when the report builder button is pressed through report manager?

I am not a web application guru by any means and we have tried to replicate the oneclick deployment and what occurs in the local settings/apps/2.0 subdirectories, but the application still attempts to download/install again. If we attempt to just launch the local executable on the client, report builder assumes the client pc (localhost) is the report server to access. Is there a method which will succeed?

Reporting Services :: Row Group Totals On A Drill Down Report Builder Report

Oct 28, 2015

I have a report builder drill down report. I have row groups with totals.    It looks like the attached.   The problem is when the report is not expanded the Grand Totals column is not accurate... it is displaying the totals of one of the rows when expanded. The expression in the Total Show text box is

= Switch (
MID(Fields!protocol_id.Value,1,7)="THERAPY",
                                         Sum(IIF(Fields!status.Value = "CO", CDbl(Fields!TX_CO.Value),           Nothing)),
  MID(Fields!protocol_id.Value,1,7) = "GENERAL" and                                                  MID(Fields!program_id.Value,1,6)
= "INTAKE",                                                        Sum(IIF(Fields!status.Value = "CO",

[code]...

Is there any way to not display the expression in the Total columns unless the report is expanded?

Report Builder Icon Is Not Showing Up On The Report Manager Home Page

Feb 1, 2007

HI, there,

I added a new windows user "ReportUser" which is a local user (not in administrator group). When I connect to the report manage's web page, I use reportuser to log in (when the anonymous access is disabled it will ask a log in). Report builder icon is not showing up on the report manager home page.

If I log in as a user in administrator group, the reportr builder icon shows up so I can download it and build report.

I have assigned reportuser "Content manager" and "repoter builder" access to the home folder. Is there anything else I have to do to make the report build icon show up on the home page?

Thanks

Report Builder And Report Server Cross Domain Communication

Dec 19, 2006

I have client machine in one domain, say A domain , on which I have installed .net 2.0 without any problem. I have report server running in other domain (B domain) where I have deployed few models which will be used from domain A to create ad hoc reports by launching Report Builder. I can access other reports in domain B from A

But when I click on Report Builder ..it tries to connect to server in domain B but fails to connect and shows following log in a text pop up

I know, problem is because of cross domain communication but question is then how to fix it ? what changes I need to do for that in firewall, domain etc etc settings?

Here is the error, I have highlighted lines which might give some clue:

Reporting Services :: Report Builder - Add Report Processing Time?

Feb 26, 2015

I was wondering if there was any way to add a value field to a report, with the time it took for the report to Process.

It would probably be a text field with an Expression, but don't know how that would go.

I know that in Expression there is a value for ExecutionTime (when report began to run), but nothing about when it ends. Can this be done? and if yes, how?

Reporting Services :: See Report-Level Variables In Report Builder 3.0

Mar 22, 2011

Is there a way to see Report-Level variables in Report Builder 3.0?  Also, just as a feedback, it would be really nice if there were a way to see and easily access all of the variables used in a report from one location instead of going to the dataset, the report, and then to the individual groups (if needed) to see the variables.  Also, it would be very useful if Group-level variables can show up in the Expression Builder as well.
