Report Manager Http/https - Mixed Links
Aug 10, 2006
Hi,
I have setup reportserver with default settings (non https) and afterwards in IIS added a certificate and https support.
Know I am able to work really well and secure over the internet, but some links in report manager pointing to http://server.domain.com/reports instead of https:
For example if i call a report and then in the top there are (view, properties,...)
- View is HTTPS
- Properties is HTTPS
- History is HTTP
- Subscription is HTTP
I have read some articles - mentions I should configure https, but
- in Report Configuration you could not setup HTTPS
- in rsreportserver.config i have entered the https link version but did not change anything
- in RSWebApplication.config the Reportserverurltag is blank - so i did not change anything
Thanks for any help

This didn't use to happen but now it does.
When I go into Report Manager, http://localhost/reports, and try running a report it is giving me this error message:
The request failed with HTTP status 401: Access Denied
But if I go directly to the Report Server, http://localhost/reportserver, and try running a report there then everything is fine.
Does anyone know why it is doing this all of a sudden? I did change the Reports app in ISS to allow anonymous access but have since changed it back, and it still gives this error.

Hi,
I am new at using Report Service and after successful install the SQL SERVER EXPRESS ADVANCE SP2 and configured the ReportIing Services Configuration. I try to launch the report manager by typing http://localhost/Reports I get the following error:
The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer.
I've read many forums but I couldn't resolve my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, I am running IIS 7 on Window Vista Business Ed. & SQL Server Express Ed. I am not sure if this make any differences.

Please, I need your help... I`m desperate...
I`m trying to connect to the Analysis Services (AS 2000 Enterprise Edition SP4 on Windows Server 2003 EE, respository is in Access DB) throught Analysis Manager over HTTPS(HTTP) connection. I dont want to use domain account.
I need to specify USER_ID and PASSWORD to the Analysis Manager, but in registration of new server is only IP address or HTTP adress (for http://server) - but it doesn´t work - it says Unauthorized. But I`ve tried to use Anonymous account and it doesn`t work (client wan`t able to make connection)... I would like to use Basic Authentification.... Thise account is member of OLAP_Administrators... but the problem is where should I put USER_ID and PASSWORD???
It works perfect in Excel 2003.... MSOLAP.asp work fine in IE...
Thanks very much for your advise

I've got a report server that I recently inherited. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not an expert on SSRS, but I've figured out a lot in the past few weeks.
One issue I'm having (apparently it's always been there, but nobody ever bothered to fix it in the past) has to do with the report subscriptions and linked reports. We have an SSL cert inside IIS. I have SSRS configured to "require SSL connections" in the Report Server Virtual Directory tab.
So the user gets an email with a link to a report. But the link has an "http://" as opposed to "https://." When you click on the link, it throws your standard "page must be viewed on a secure channel." When I manually append an S to the url, it works great.
There has to be a way to automagically add the S to the url, but I can't seem to figure out how. Anyone ever run into this before? Google has not been good to me this morning either.

I have a report that I put links to other reports in the page header.
When I click on those links, I get the error:
"source of the report definition has not been specified"
If I move the links to the body of the report, they work fine.
Is this a bug or a limitation, and will we eventually be able to put links in the header?
Thanks!

Hello,
Besides the one in the subscriptions where you tick a checkbox to include the report link, I would just like to ask if its possible to get the link of a report from the report server and add it in another report as reference?
Like for example, I have report A. If i tick the checkbox of Link in the subscription of the report, the server will send the report with the report link in the bottom of the report.
Now I have report B, and I would like to show report A link in that report.
Please advice if this is possible.. We have too many reports to just hard code every single report link in one report..
Thanks in advance

I'm creating a SSIS solution where I use a WebService Task to get some data from an external Web Service.
I create a "HTTP Connection Manager" for the WebService Task. I enter the correct Server URL, and in the Proxy tab I enter the correct Proxy URL. The "Test Connection" button returns a success and everything works fine....
However, when I re-open my solution after having saved it, the "Test Connection" button returns a "Unable to connect to the remote server" message. the Server URL and the Proxy URL are correct but it seems that SSIS is not using the Proxy. If I create a new package with the same Server URL and Proxy URL it works fine.
Does anyone know anything about this problem? Is it a bug in SSIS or something that I'm doing wrong?
Regards,
Olafur

Hi all,
Heres the setup...
We have an asp application that runs the reportserver URL for the selected report, passing it through parameters. This opens the report viewer and the report runs.
The problem im having is that one report is not working as expected. When the report is run from report manager, everything works fine. The links do what they're meant to (they link to other reports passing through parameters). When the report is run from our asp application with the report viewer, the links fail.... they dont pass through the correct values or sometimes dont pass through a value at all.
Were the report viewer and report manager applications developed seperately?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

At one point in my package I call a simple web service that kicks off a process on a remote server using a Web Service Task . I need to be able to point the task at a test instance while I'm testing and a different one when it goes to production. The simple answer (you'd hope anyway) is to just store the ConnectionString for the HTTP Connection Manger in Package Configurations for TEST and PROD. I did this and when the package runs, the connection manager's connectionstring does get changed, but the web service task doesn't use this value. It uses the value defined in the WSDL file which in my case contains the URL for the TEST instance.
Am I missing something obvious? Do I really have to get the WSDLs from PROD and TEST and deploy both of them to the appropriate environment? What does the ConnectionString in the HTTP Connection Manager actually do then?
Thanks for any insight you might have.

Hi -
I got through the installation hoops for SQLEXPRESS Reporting Services in Vista and set up the default configurations in Report Services Configuration. I can explore the default directory for "Reports" in IIS7, but I can't browse in IE. I get the "The report server is not responding. verify that the report server..." message in the browser. This is after I migrated the app per the initial http 500 error using the preferred method - %systemroot%system32inetservAPPCMD.exe migrate config "Default Web Site/Reports".
I'm running Vista Ultimate, VS2005, SQLEXPRESS SP2. I've tried running IE as admin and also I've disabled UAC from gpedit.msc - ...Windows SettingsSecurity SettingsLocal PolicySecurity Options and unchecking UAC.
Thanks,
Mike

Please consider enhancing SQL 2005 Reporting Services to provide the ability to disable Clickthrough Reports (Live Links) at the Report and Export Function level. Today you can only enable or disable Clickthrough Reports at the View/Model Level for all Report Builder reports.

Hi there,
I need to understand why I am getting the following error when I run my deployed (remote) report embedded in an iframe within a page of my web application.
error:
An
error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Query
execution failed for data set 'cnMOOR'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand)For
more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local
server machine, or enable remote error
This happens when I fire the following code from a commandbutton:
AppSettingsReader cfgApp = new AppSettingsReader();
string prefix = Convert.ToString(cfgApp.GetValue("reporturlprefix", typeof(System.String)));
string reporturl = prefix + "Client&rs:Command=Render&rs:Format=HTML4.0&rc:Parameters=False&supplierid=" + Session["supplierId"].ToString() + "&clientid=" + ddlClient.SelectedItem.Value + "&startdate=" + txtStartDate.Text + "&enddate=" + txtEndDate.Text + "&ownertype=1";
SpecificClient.Attributes.Add("src", reporturl);
SpecificClient is the ID of the Iframe
on the same page I created a link - which runs the report perfectly - no permission problems.
<a href="http://server2003msrs/reportserver?/moorreports/Client&rs:Command=Render&rs:Format=HTML4.0&rc:Parameters=False&supplierid=28&clientid=71&startdate=2007-01-01&enddate=2007-02-16&ownertype=1">Test</a>
I don't understand why these two controls are behaving differently.
I'd appreciate some guidance with this as the deadline looms...
Helen

I have written a report visual studio. Â The report has 10 multi-value parameters that pull data from their individual data sets within the reports. Â When running the report from within Visual Studio it renders fine. Â There are no errors reported, only a warning related to a pathname I have use to retrieve image data and display on the report.Deployment of the report is error free. When I view the report I briefly get the "Loading" splash window, but then nothing. Â None of the headers or static text is displayed. Â The results window is blank.
The report defaults all the parameter values. Â In trying to debug the issue I have found by reducing the number of parameter values the report will render. Â Once I have all the values added, the report does nothing.Below is the query being used for the report. Â The where clause in the query shows the parameters being used and the syntax. We are running on Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2.

Hi,
I'm trying to deploy Reporting Services on an Internet-facing web server using a custom security extension (forms authentication). We will be putting Report Manager on the Web Server outside of the firewall, and Report Server on another machine inside the firewall. When testing the solution in a development environment with Report Manager and Report Server on the same box, the solution works fine.
When testing it using the Internet-facing environment described above, it almost works but there seems to be an issue with the authentication cookie that is generated. Here's what happens:
1. User enters credentials on UILogon.aspx and submits form.
2. In the code-behind, LogonUser() is called through a web service proxy and the authentication cookie is returned successfully. The code used here to set the cookie is the same code used in the Forms Authentication sample that ships with RS2005.
3. The user is redirected to Folder.aspx, and the request hangs for a while, and eventually kicks you back out to UILogon.aspx, as if it lost the authentication cookie. When doing a trace on the HTTP header, the cookie is still there.
Is there anything special I need to do to make the Report Server "see" the cookie when I have Report Manager and Report Server on different machines?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Mike
