I am getting the standard "Subscriptions cannot be created because the credentials used to run the report are not stored -".I tried to store them in the Stored Data Source in the Visual Studio Project and then deployed. I cannot find in any documentation a reference where to go to STORE CREDENTIALS for a Report Server subscription. I would really appreciate any help on this. I did look at the existing threads, but they don't specifically address where to create the credentials. Thanks for any help you can provide.
I created a report in SSRS, and deployed it. I have created security where when users run the on demand report, it will prompt them for a username and password. I went to the properties of the report then Execution, and tried to set up report execution snapshot and got an error 'Credentials used to run this report are not stored.' I get the same error if I go to History and try to select any of the options there.
I am have a few reports built in Report Builder and obviously using Report Models. All these report models are using a share data source. When I try enable to enable chache or creating subscription I get and error that "Credentials used not stored".
I thought well let me store the credentials for the data source used by the model used by the report on the server. I still get the same error.
I tried to create a custom data source for the report but there is not option for connection string to connect to Report Server Model. We have "Microsoft SQL SEVER", "OLE DB", "Microsoft SQL Analysis Services", "ORACLE", "ODBC", "XML", "SQP Netweaver BI" and "Hyperion Essabe"
if I understand this right to create cache or subscription I must store the credentials for each report making shared Data source concept redundant. Also I cannot create a connection string to connect to Report Server Model.
I would greatly appreciate if anyone can tell me how to enable cache or subscriptions for report that are built on report models using shared data source.
Hi i have created serveral reports in sql and uploaded it to report manager. We have an issue here. We have 5 departments at our place. Each of the department has 5 reports. We want the department for instance Administration to open/view only their reports and no others. How is this done "Credentials supplied by the user running the report" Basically if i give sa and sa as username and password, i will be able to enter any department reports but i want something like sa say 'admin' this user will only open his reports and no one else. there is also security for the folder. I could clump all the reports instead of type do it by department. So all admin reports in one folder and only admin should have access and no one else say if there is another user manager he cant access it. Do you have any idea on how to go abt this situation?
I have implemented a ReportServerCredentials class in my code and the NetworkCredentials property is set up to pass a domain account. Usually this works fine but occasionaly the ReportViewer stops sending credentials to the report server resulting in the following error:
The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.
The IIS logs on the ReportServer don't show any credentials being passed in on these requests.
When this happens in debug mode in Visual Studio, I usually have to create a new project and migrate my code into it to get it to start working again. When it happens on the web server, it seems to correct itself after a while.
It seems like this must be a bug in the ReportViewer or perhaps in IIS. Does anyone know of a work around or a patch?
I've been working on an application that uploads an RDL to Reporting Services (through the SOAP webservice method CreateReport) programmatically. I'm having difficulty setting up the data source properties for my uploaded report. In particular the Data Source Credentials property.
The datasource for my report doesn't require credentials. By default after I upload the report to Reporting Services, the Data Source Credentials property is set to "Credentials supplied by the user running the report". How do I go about setting the Data Source Credentials property to "Credentials are not required" programmatically through the webservice?
I have a database script that uses the extended stored procedures sp_OACreate and sp_OCMethod to execute an .exe file. The .exe file is located on the same machine as the SQL Server. At this time it does nothing but log the name of the user calling it.
When I execute the script from Management Studio (logged in as myself) the user being logged as the caller of the .exe is still NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM. I don't know why NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM is the caller, cause the SQL Server service runs under another domain account.
I have tried playing around with EXECUTE AS USER but no matter what, the caller of the .exe is always logged as NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM.
Are there any way I can pass my credentials to the executable that I am calling from the T-SQL script?
I can't seem to get this to work and have to resort to a custom connection for each report in Server Manager. The problem with that is that I have to re-do it every time I re-deploy the reports. Is there a secret to this that I have not found yet?
I'm trying to use stored credentials to enable caching. I've created a special windows user account with minimum permissions for just this task, and once set up, it works great (almost).
I can update the shared data source using SQL Mgt Studio or directly via the Report Manager to use a set of -windows- stored credentials. But I don't seem to be able to do the same via VS.NET 2005. I can only store -SQL- credentials, which I have no need to enable and no desire to add to my surface area.
The problem lies that every time I deploy any report that using that data source (which is nearly all of them), the data source is re-published, which wipes out the stored credentials and caching immediately stops.
I've tried messing with the XML directly, with no luck, and changing assorted advanced settings, but nothing seems to stick.
Obviously I can manually update the credentials each time I deploy something, but surely it seems that there must be a better way. Is there a way to either set the DS to use stored windows credentials, or just plain prevent the deployment of the DS every time a dependent report is published?
How to "CREATE credentials pointing to SQL SERVER logins" and "creating proxys for SQL server agent pointing to SQL SERVER login.
As The SQL server login does not display in the CHECK NAMES list when we are trying to select the identity but All the other Windows logins display correctly in this list .
So using the SQLserver login fails to run a SQL server Job (which uses the credentials and proxies pionting to SQL server logins)
Hi guys,I'm not sure if I'm just bad at googling but I can't seem to find a way to set an ASP.NET 2.0 web application to connect to SQL Server 2005 using the current client's user credentials. My web application is using Integrated Windows Authentication so its Page.User.Identity is set to a DOMAINusername value... I want to pass that to my connectionstring or have my connections pick up the identity automatically and use that Identity when accessing the db server.Oh and another thing, my IIS Application Pool is using a specific Identity itself, so I don't know if that might affect the above.Hope someone could help.
I am trying to create an asp.net website with integrated windows authentication to access SQL databases. IIS resides on WinXP and SQL Server on Win2000 SRV. Both are in the same NT Domain. IIS and SQL Server cannot reside on the same machine and a stand alone web server is ideal as the website needs to access multiple SQL Servers. IIS is set to Integrated Windows Authentication. The machine running IIS & the SQL Server are set to be "trusted for delegation" in active directory. The domain user accounts that will be accessing the databases are not marked as "Account is sensitive and cannot be delegated".
The connection string that the web app uses to connect to SQL database is:
with which the user credentials should be flown to the SQL database. But instead the delegation fails and results in the following ANONYMOUS authentication failure error:
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON'.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

I want to use 2 stored procedures in one report, but I could not find what is the way of doing this. I searched this subject on the intrernet, and I found some solutions. However, they used stored procedures in one stored procedure and used in one report. This is not the thing which I want to do, I want only do using 2 stored procedures in one report at the same time.
I am trying to call a stored procedure into report builder. The stored procedure has 2 parameters. When I run the report with allowing nulls and blank value in the parameters it works fine, but when I enter a value in a parameter it ignores the where clause I had in the original query(stored procedure) and displays everything.
I was wondering if it was possible to call reporting server web service directly from my sql server stored procedure. The call that I need to make to reporting web service needs to generate the report in a PDF format.
I have a stored procedure which needs to access the files on a remote server... a server which does not belong to the same domain as the SQL Server 2005 machine.
I have an account which has access to the remote server. If the account name is "NewAccountAccountName", how can I execute the stored procedure using that account? Is this possible?
On to the next understanding topic. I understand the concept of credentials and why they are needed with the isolation of machine admin authority and running a SQL Server instance. I had a question on the purpose of the system credentials.
##MS_SQLResourceSigningCertificate## is the credential utilized by the instance itself to gain access to Windows for such things as reading and writing to database files, network stacks, writing to the error logs/event logs, etc. ##MS_AgentSigningCertificate## is the credential that is used by SQL Server Agent for accessing any necessary Windows resources. ##MS_SQLReplicationSigningCertificate## is used only by the replication engine to allow it to access Windows resources. ##MS_SQLAuthenticatorCertificate## is used during the authentication process for SQL Logins to provide authenticator services and is also used to access the Windows security API.
Each of the credentials is a certificate which is loaded into the instance and you can find the corresponding certificate within the data folder for the instance. I'm assuming that a mechanism is already in place to prevent someone from mucking with the certificates on the OS to gain access back into the SQL Server by comparing the signature already stored within the instance with the signature of the certificate on the OS. (This is also part of the larger discussion of certificate use within SQL Server itself and explains why you can't change the service account/password using the Service Control Applet.)
Did I get that correct, am I way off base, or is this one of those "no comment" items?
Hi My project is in .NET 2003 i.e. framework 1.1 and database in SQLServer 2000. But the reports have been developed using SQLServer 2005 Reporting Services. Now when I am trying to deploy them through deployment project of .NET its giving me following error:"Using other editions of SQL Server for report data sources and/or the report server database" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. Now I am really confused with this. Can any one please guide me regarding this ASAP. Thanks, Falguni
I got through the installation hoops for SQLEXPRESS Reporting Services in Vista and set up the default configurations in Report Services Configuration. I can explore the default directory for "Reports" in IIS7, but I can't browse in IE. I get the "The report server is not responding. verify that the report server..." message in the browser. This is after I migrated the app per the initial http 500 error using the preferred method - %systemroot%system32inetservAPPCMD.exe migrate config "Default Web Site/Reports".
I'm running Vista Ultimate, VS2005, SQLEXPRESS SP2. I've tried running IE as admin and also I've disabled UAC from gpedit.msc - ...Windows SettingsSecurity SettingsLocal PolicySecurity Options and unchecking UAC.
I'm very new new at this. I'm try to deploy a report model and got this message. I have no idea what its going on about.
Can anyone help me?

I'm trying to create a login screen that will verify a user's username and password from within a SQL table. If the credentials are found in the table, they should be sent to a Main Menu screen. If the credentials are not found, I will throw a message on the screen. Does anyone have code to accomplish this? I am at a total standstill.
CREATE CREDENTIAL myCredentials WITH IDENTITY = 'domain.user', SECRET = 'password'; Now, I would like to execute query with this credentials: SELECT a.* FROM OPENROWSET('SQLNCLI', 'Server=Seattle1;Trusted_Connection=yes;', 'SELECT col1 FROM [myServer].[myDb].[dbo].[myTable]' ) AS a;
How can I do that? There is no EXECUTE AS 'myCredentials'...Should I create some new login first, bind it to this credentials and then : EXECUTE AS 'myLogin'
I'm trying to create a subscription to automatically generate a report daily and put a resulting pdf into a folder on the drive. Users will then receive an email notification with a link to the report so they can just click on it and see the report.
When creating the subscription, I am prompted for a set of "credentials used to access the file share" (user name and password). But I don't want my users to have to supply any credentials, I just want them to click on the link and get the report. Is there a way to disable the requirement for the credentials?
Get this when selecting parameter value in Report Manager
Report is working fine in preview
Up to me, it has nothing to do with credentials
I have some analysis server reports.
I have a single value report parameter, the report runs fine with the default value, when I select another value than the default one, I get above message immediately.
I got the error since I rebuild the report with SP2 CTP.
Strange thing is that the other single value parameter of the report works fine (year)
And that I get the error also with other reports, and on the same dimension (Organisation)
And that I do not have the error when I change the parameter to multi-value (but as the report is not written for multiple values...)

Discovered something else that is very strange, you change the value of the parameter, you get the error, you hit the back button, and you can run the report with the new parameter
Did one more test, changed the order of the parameters, is now going wrong on the other parameter, Year.
So, it is always on the first parameter.
Correction, I have put a multi-value parameter as first, I still have the problem, it is always on the first single value parameter
I have the same problem.

I have created several reports in SQL Server 2005 reporting services and I am viewing those reports in my C# application using a report viewer control. I want to pass the credentials for each report through my applications. I do not want to use any web service.
