Report Shows Empty Page

Oct 10, 2007

The last page of the report has a table or rectangle (tried both) which is supposed to be invisible based on a parameter. However, the page still shows up with only the header! Apparently the report knows that the next element (table or rectangle) has to be on a new page, and only too late figures out that the element is invisible.

Anybody else encountered this, or has a solution?
Thanks

Grouping For A Table - Only One Row Shows Up For Each Page

Feb 27, 2008

This is so simple, but I can't get it to work. I created a grouping on the name field so that all entries for a particular person are on their own page. I break out perfectly so each one is a page for where I should get rows for that one person I only get one. On no page do I see more than one row. The data is not being summarized so that does not explain it.
Why would I lose data row? Thanks!

Report Viewer In ASP.NET - Subreport Page 2 Goes Back To Main Report Page 2 On Paging

Nov 22, 2007

What we've found is that when you have two reports where one navigates to the other, if you click on the second page of the second report, it takes you to the second page of the original report. If you navigate over to the subreport again and click for the second page, it works appropriately. This is definitely a no-go for production code and this may delay our ship date because I would think this is definitely undesirable.

Conditions:

ASP.NET Report Viewer using Remote Reports
Report that links to another report
Both reports return more than one page
Reporting Services installed
Steps to Reproduce:

Download the source code here.

Follow the directions (near the bottom of the post) to get the project set up.

Run it and click on a link in the first report to go to the second report.

Click the arrow for page 2 of the second report.

Notice how it takes you back to page 2 of the first report (this doesn't happen when you are in preview mode in the Reporting Services project and I don't believe it does this in a smart client application).

Click on a link in the first report to go back to the second report.

Click the arrow for page 2.

Notice how it takes you to page 2 of the second report.

Here is a link with source code and a more detailed explanation: http://geekswithblogs.net/robz/archive/2007/11/21/Reporting-Services-2005-BUG-Report-Linking-and-Paging---ASP.NET.aspx

So what I am looking for is both a workaround for now and if this is determined to be a bug, to be fixed in the next service pack.

Problem Deploying Custom Report Item. Items Shows In Preview Screen In VS, But Not In Server Deployed Report

Nov 29, 2006

I have developed a custom report item that works fine in design and preview mode while in Visual Studio. I cannot get it to show up on my deployed reports. Here's what I have done so far:

1. Deployed the report using Visual Studio

2. updated the rsreportserver.config file with the following entry:

<ReportItems>
<ReportItem Name="PedigreeChart" Type="Uabr.Rap.PedigreeChart.PedigreeChartRenderer, Uabr.Rap.PedigreeChart" />
</ReportItems>

3. Updated the rssrvpolicy.config file with the following entry.

<CodeGroup
class="UnionCodeGroup"
version="1"
PermissionSetName="FullTrust"
Description="This code group grants Uabr.Rap.PedigreeChart.dll FUllTrust permission. ">
<IMembershipCondition
class="UrlMembershipCondition"
version="1"
Url="C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.3Reporting ServicesReportServerinUabr.Rap.PedigreeChart.dll" />
</CodeGroup>

I've also tried using the StrongNameMembershipCondition with no better results.

4. The dll and its dependencies are copied to the bin directory of the report server.

5. When I load a report with this custom report item on it, the report loads fine with no errors or warnings in the log file (even with verbose tracing). The area where the custom item should be is just white. It's almost like Reporting Services isn't registering the item correctly.

This is particularly frustrating because the report works fine in Visual Studio - apparently I configured that correctly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm stumped.

Empty Page 1 On Short Reports?

Mar 16, 2007

I have a suite of several SSRS reports that differ essentially on the stored procedure called. All have very the same one-page header block and all have a footer. Those where a large number of pages are produced, page without fault when printed or converted to PDF.

Two page reports often break down on printing, so that page 1 only has the header and a footer and all the detail lines are printed on page2 (together with the footer). However on the screen the report paged correctly.

I have checked all the obvious problems such as page dimensions exceeding that of the print medium. (A series of such problems was fixed earlier in development.)

I have observed this behaviour with SQL2005 SP1 and SP2 (i.e. SP2 did not provide any fix in this area). The host OS for development and production is Windows 2003 server. The tests were done by viewing in IE6 and the fault only became apparent when going to print preview, printing or in PDF production.

This has the appearance of a bug in SSRS hereby intermediate length reports are not handled correctly. It appears to happen when the amount of detail lines just fills page 2. As soon as the report has sufficient lines to be 3 pages long (page 1 is header plus some details lines plus footer, page 2 is full of detail lines plus footer and page 3 is remaining detail lines plus footer then the problem is no longer seen! Where the detail lines will all fit on page 1, then the problem is not seen.

I observe this variation in behaviour since I am able to switch between different sized datasets and thus switch between the different scenarios described above. I should also note that the reports are in landscape mode.

Report Being Generated Never Shows Second Report

Feb 23, 2007

I have a VS2005 Windows application that displays a reportviewer (SQL 2005) report in a tab control, then displays a second report in a second tab with reportviewer, and so on.  The really strange thing is that I had this application working for about 3 months.  I even had up to 30 reports in 30 tabs at one point.  BUT, for some reason now all I get is the first report and the second, third, etc. tabs show a reportviewer with "Report being generated" that never displays the report.  Even worse, another user is able to run this application and DOES get all the reports displayed.  So what could have been updated on my PC that is causing this problem?

Thanks in advance.

SQL 2012 :: Agent Job History Shows Step Still Running But Shows Start And End Times?

Jul 1, 2015

I have a SQL Agent job that runs at 4:15 in the morning. The job has 5 steps, each step only runs if the preceding step succeeds. The second step, which calls an SSIS package that does the main processing, appears to finish as it goes on to the next step; however, when looking in 'View History' there are 2 entries for this step - the first one shows it as still running (Circled Green Arrow) but with a start and end time. The second entry says the job succeeded.

I have been seeing conflicts, such as deadlocks, with later jobs. I suspect this job is causing the conflicts - maybe the package is still running in the background instead of having actually completed?

what conditions a job step my be showing in the job history as both running AND completed successfully?

Blank Report Shows Up For Null Parameters.

Oct 29, 2007

I have created a report with a stored proc which takes a parameter whose default value is null. Now when I run my stored proc in Enterprise Manager without any params I get 4 rows otherwise with proper parameter I get 2 rows.

Now I set the params value to allow for Null and blank values. When I run the report if I provide parameter value it works fine but if i try to run it without any param it shows an empty report while the stored proc running without params shows 4 rows.

I have earlier sucessfully created reports where stored procs had 4 params out of which 3 where defaulted to null. And so I set the allow nulls, Allow Blanks values to be true for those params in Rep services. So when I selected value for 1st param and ran the report I got the desired report. But this time I have only one param which can be null. But its not working.

Thanks in advance.

Hidden Graph And Table Show Up As Empty Page When Rendered To Pdf

Feb 23, 2007

I have a report that has 3 graphs and two tables that render to 5 pages in pdf. Some users should only get a subset of the 5 elements and some need all 5. When I set the Hidden property (in the designer or via a parameter) for any of the elements they become invisible but in pdf but the report still prints out a page for the hidden element. It works fine in the designer and rendered to html and excel but I get an extra page in pdf. it is like the hidden element still takes up the same amount of space but is just hidden.

Any help would be great.

Blank Page When Printing/Exporting Prior To Every Report Page

Jan 23, 2008

I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on this for me... I'm using SSRS SP2 and I have a basic report using a single list object which, at the moment, should print only two pages based on the results of the underlying query. When previewing the report, it shows the two pages. But when the report is printed or exported, there is a blank page before each report page.

What I've done so far:
1) Verified the properties of the list object and made sure that 'Insert a page break before this list' is not checked

2) Ensured that there are no hidden objects that could be causing this behavior
3) Ensured that the report size + margins are within the boudaries of an standard 8.5x11 paper size

Any suggestions on something that would solve this issue?

Provide Monthly Report To Shows How Successful Deployment Was For Particular Patchgroup

Sep 1, 2015

I need to calculate the success rate of our OS Patch deployments. the data from system is stored in SQL with corresponding states (installed, missing, ...)

I would need to provide monthly report that shows how successful the deployment was for particular patchgroup. I have the following 2 dummy tables (just used as example)

table5 ==> Table containing patch groups + patches
table6 ==> Table with machines names, patches and patch state

select * from table5
pgrouppatch
GROUP1PATCH1
GROUP1PATCH2
GROUP1PATCH3
GROUP1PATCH4

[Code] ....

Result would be
pgroup install missing
group1 80% 20%
group2 50% 50%
group3 55% 45%

Ideally I would like to do this in T-SQL but if necessary can also do this in .NET Function. Only mention this but both Patchgroup and machines are dynamic each month can be different.

below are the sql scripts to create tables and populate with data

CREATE TABLE [dbo].[table5](
[pgroup] [varchar](128) NOT NULL,
[patch] [nvarchar](128) NOT NULL
)
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[table6](
[machinename] [varchar](128) NOT NULL,

[Code] ...

Reporting Services :: Interpreting Specific Report Rendering From What The Log Shows

Jul 7, 2015

We run std 2008.   In my ssrs log I see this for one of our most critical reports...

library!ReportServer_0-64!2244!07/07/2015-08:24:53:: Call to GetPermissionsAction(/somedirectory/somedirectory1).... which I assume is an indication of a report starting to render by first checking permissions.

Around the time my user says he still saw the revolving arrow and he stopped the report because he felt it was running too long, I see...

webserver!ReportServer_0-64!1dbc!07/07/2015-08:54:44:: i INFO: Processed report. Report='/somedirectory/somedirectory1/importantreport', Stream=''

How can it be true that he stopped it and ssrs reports that it processed the report?

About 4 minutes later I see this entry in the log...

webserver!ReportServer_0-64!15e4!07/07/2015-08:58:34:: i INFO: Processed report. Report='/somedirectory/somedirectory1/importantreport', Stream=''

Which processed report message is right?  Could there be multiples cuz of subreports? I see a number of errors and exceptions around these same times but do not know how to tie either to a specific report. Is there a way?

Giant White Space Shows Up When Viewing In Report Manager Only

May 16, 2006

Hello

I have created a report that works how I want it in the visual studio 2003 designer. I have deployed it to our test box (sql server 2k, reporting services with sp2) and when we preview the report, there is a giant white space between the graph in the report and the matrix object below it. This white space was not in the designer. It only shows when previewing the report. If you print from the report manager, it does not print the white space.

Is there a way to remove it from the report manager when the report is previewed? I am sure users will complain when they see this.

Thanks.

If we want <select a value> again then we should go back design part and then preview again. But I don't want. What is the possible way to see <select a value> for every select without going back to design.

Report Builder Icon Is Not Showing Up On The Report Manager Home Page

Feb 1, 2007

HI, there,

I added a new windows user "ReportUser" which is a local user (not in administrator group). When I connect to the report manage's web page, I use reportuser to log in (when the anonymous access is disabled it will ask a log in). Report builder icon is not showing up on the report manager home page.

If I log in as a user in administrator group, the reportr builder icon shows up so I can download it and build report.

I have assigned reportuser "Content manager" and "repoter builder" access to the home folder. Is there anything else I have to do to make the report build icon show up on the home page?

Thanks

Log Shipping Report Empty

Oct 4, 2007

I have implemented log shipping on one my databases. Logs are being shipped just fine and are even being applied. Change something on primary and you will see it on the secondary.

However when I generate Transaction Log Shipping Status Report from the Primary Server, I see that Stauts is GOOD. I see primary and secondary servers names. I see when the Last backup occured. But there is no data on COPY and RESTORE. Those columns are grayed out or should I rather say colored gray with no values.

When I go onto secondary node and generate Transaction Log Shipping Status Report, columns under Restore header are popluated. But columns under BACKUP and RESTORE are grayed out.

On monitor node Transaction Log Shipping Status Report doesnt show when the last backup, or restore or copy occured. It only shows the threshold value for backup and restore.

So I have two questions:
1) why am I not seeing all the info in one place? how can I find out how far behind is secondary?
2) shouldnt Transaction Log Shipping Status Report from any node show me same information?
3) even though changes are making it to secondary once the threshold value is hit, status would not be GOOD anymore. so no matter what I do it would be out sync when it is not.

what has gone wrong here?
