ReportServer Service Terminated Unexpectedly

I have been looking for some information regarding an error I have gotten several times on my production SQL Server 2000 box. Operating System is Windows Server 2003. The Reporting Services version is 8.00.878.00
Error is as follows:
The ReportServer service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 3 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
The service restarts normally, or at least seems to, and Reporting Services work with no other issues. Received the error this morning (11/14); last time was on 10/31.
What can I do to prevent this from happening?

Hi
For 15 days now my SQL server service is terminating with the following error
MSSQLSERVER service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 Time(s).
This service terminates and restarts automatically and sometimes doesnt restart we have to mannuly start it again.
Event ID: 7034.
Version Details
Version: MSSQL Server 2000
Service Pack: 3a
Build: 8.0.0.760
I have checked many forums most of them suggest to apply the latest service pack. But the same error has been reported by sites having SP4 also.

MSSQLServer service terminated unexpectedly
We are running SQL Server 2000 with SP4. This server has been running for the past six months with no SQL server problems. A Max of 10 users have access to the application running on this server.
The Event Viewer Log shows the

Type: Error
EventID: 17052
Description: The MSSQLSERVER service terminated unexpectedly.
No other error messages were seen in the SQL server log or windows event viewer.
The time when it terminated was not during peak load/activity.
The server is Windows 2003 with SP1. Any help would be appreciated.

I have an almost virgin install of SQLExpres running on a WIN2K Pro system.
Have been able to create and connect db to Access 2000 without problem.
Now I wish to extend to remote connections. Using Surface Area Configuration tool, I changed Remote Connections to Local and Remote.
Whenever this setting contains TCP/IP and I try to restart the service I receive the following errors:
System Log:
The SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) service terminated with service-specific error 10013.
Application Log:
Server TCP provider failed to listen on [ 'any' <ipv4> 0]. Tcp port is already in use.
TDSSNIClient initialization failed with error 0x271d, status code 0xa.
TDSSNIClient initialization failed with error 0x271d, status code 0x1.
Could not start the network library because of an internal error in the network library. To determine the cause, review the errors immediately preceding this one in the error log.
SQL Server could not spawn FRunCM thread. Check the SQL Server error log and the Windows event logs for information about possible related problems.
If I change back to Local Connections Only or Local and Remote using named pipes only, the service starts up again without a problem.
After five days of investigating, researching, reinstalling and waiting I have to ask for help.
Any suggestions or leads?

we run ssrs 2005 sp2 hotfix applied - how do we troubleshoot a problem where the report server service is stopping unexpectedly several times a day. When this happens please tell me what happens to the reports that are currently running. I believe that
1) a current subscription that is running will fail - not sure if it will try to restart itself 3 times or not
2) connection to the report server db cannot be made when that occurs
this is a huge problem for us and we dont know what is causing it or how to fix it. Any suggestions would help. I can tell you that our customers flood the server with subscriptions

I used to think ReportServer service running for reporting is essential for reporting service work but today I stopped this service and tried to access reports....they were working fine ...can somebody explain me why its working so fine ?? even I stop it ?

Hi, im running reporting service 2000 on a sql 2000 server. Everything worked fine last week, now i cannont access the reporting services. I tried manually starting the service but it will not start. Any help would be appcreciated.

SSRS 2000 (all sps up to date)
Scenario:
1 - SSRS + SQL2000 Database server
2 - Web servers
We have installed SSRS on 2 web servers that are acting as a web farm for a central Report Server.
After we installed SSRS on the 2 web servers the scheduled reports on the central Report Server stopped working.
We tried disabling the ReportServer service on the web servers and then the scheduled reports began to work again.
Why would the ReportServer service on the 2 web servers interfere with the central Report Server?
Can the web servers be used to load balance the scheduled reports?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Please help everytime i call http://servername/reportserver it is presenting the login screen, if i enter the username and password then i can access the reportserver screen, same with reportmanager tool.
under iis manager for the reportserver virtual directory i have given anonymous login access.
do i have to set any other extra permissions other than anonymous login(iusr_machinenname)

Before I begin describing our problem, let me first start off with a description of our environment and current configuration.
Background/Configuration Specs
We have SQL Server Reporting Services running on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition, Service Pack 1 server. It is configured so that the Reports and ReportServer virtual directories run under a sql server domain account.
The datasets for our reports are xml datasets returned from calling a web service on a second IIS server, Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition, Service Pack 1. The web service runs under a service account and is not set to impersonate the user. The web service contacts a database located on the same server as reporting services to retrieve the data. So, it should receive the request, login to the database it is trying to access using the service account, and return the dataset.
We are programatically accessing reports via a client application, specifying the virtual directory via the reportserver url (e.g. http:\hostname\reportserver\virtual directory path\report name).
Kerberos is enabled on both the sql box and the iis box with constrained delegation allow the sql account access to the iis box.
Problem
When I try to browse to the report from Report Manager in IE, (http:\hostname\Reports\...etc) I am able to successfully view the report.
When I try to view the report in the client app, (http:\hostname\reportserver\...etc.) the report fails.
Looking at the iis logs, it appears that in the first case, the web service is receiving the request from the sql server domain account. In the second case, it appears that the web service is receiving the request from an anonymous login.
Questions
What exactly is the difference between rendering/viewing a report via ReportManager versus programatically via ReportServer?
Is there any configuration we need to be aware of when configuring ReportServer?
Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated.

I have done everything to get pass this error but no luck.
My setup is :- WIndows 2003 Standared Edition SP1
Sql Server :-
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.1399.06 (Intel X86) Oct 14 2005 00:33:37 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Standard Edition on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 1)
Reporting Services starting SKU: Standard.
From the Reporting Services Configuration Manager:
I can see all other things configured except Encryption Keys(blue sign)
Initialization(Grey sign) and Execution Acct(Yellow sign)
My windows Service Identity is using :
NT AuthorityNetworkService
Builtin Acct :NetworkService
Web Service Identity :-
ASP.NET Service Acct :- NT AuthorityNetworkService
DataBase Setup :- Credentials Type :- Service Credentials

I also get the error when setting up the DataBase Setup :
Although saving the database connection info succeeded the The report server cannot access internal info about this deployment to determine whetherthe current con fig is valid for this editionThis could be a scale-out deployment and that the feature is not supported by this editionTo continue use a diff report server database or remove the encription keys

I have setup SSRS 2000 and gotten it to work but I am having trouble with SSRS 2005. I can't access to reportserver anywhere on the network. The only way to get to reportserver is termserv into the server and hit it with http://localhost/reportserver The server is Windows 2003 server Standard Ed. running SQL 2005 SP2 and Sharepoint Portal Server 2007. Can somebody please help? Thank you.

I have noticed a strange behaviour when running some of my packages with dtexec. The packages use EventHandlers to log information to a database using the Execute SQL Task with the query stored in a variable. This variable is further part of the package configuration, so that I can change the query without changing the package itself. Now, this all works fine, until I made a typo in the query causing the syntax to be invalid, ie changing SELECT to SELCET. Now, one would expect the package to fail, and it does, if I run it through the debugger in Visual Studio, but when I run it using dtexec it just hangs and I have to kill the process using the Task Manager.
Peculiarly, I tried doing the same thing with a task that was not contained in an EventHandler, and then the package fails as expected, both when running it in the debugger and using dtexec. This is not a major problem, but what I am afraid of is that one day the database server will be down and cause an error in the Execute SQL Task in the EventHandler, causing dtexec to hang indefinitely. Has anyone else had problems like these?

I have 2 DB on SQL Server 7, that are synchronized by a continuous transactional replication.
The tables have a primary key on an identity column. In order to avoid conflicts,
the identities have different seeds, and increment equal to 10.
When the server shuts unexpectedly, the current value for the
identity column goes out of sync, that is it assumes the greatest value inserted.
The workaround is to run DBCC checkident to correct the identity value.
Is it a bug? Did anyone run in the same problem?

Pls help me on this issue...
The min reqt olny says Windows XP Service Pack 2. So, whether it is Pro or Home I assume this Edition will run. MY system is XP Home SP2 with 2GB RAM and Dual Core Intel Processor. Is this the problem? There is no error displayed on the summary.txt and I do not know how to read the log file. Pls help... Or do I need to upgrade to XP Pro?

I tried to load a fixed width flat file with around 300,000 rows. However, only the first 8xxxx rows were loaded to the destineation table and the rest row were loading blank records. There was no error message showing during package execution. I've tried to split the file in half and the result was the same. So it wasn't the data file problem.
Would there be any buffering issue I need to cater for inside the package? Thanks!

I looked in this forum at others peoples threads and it seems as if they all have a lot larger Summary.txt file. I never had any other verson of SQL Server installed on this computer and i just uninstalled .net 2.0 framework and reinstalled it.
My computer runs Windows XP Pro with SP 2, AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+ 2.20 GHz, 1.00GB of RAM.
Anyone have any clue why the installation wont even start?

I have a web application that connects to a SQL server 2000. My problem is when my application accesses the SQL server to retrive data it creates a new connection to the SQL server. So during the running of the application there would be multiple connection of my application to the SQL server. Is there a way that i can close the connection after each query.

I am having a strange problem with SQL server 2000.
Basically I am trying to insert data into only one field within a table that has two fields.

if i use the statement:

However If I try it this way:

I am unable to enter data by referencing the field name explicitly. Has anyone ever seen this before?

Maybe I am missing something completely obvious but as far as I can tell I aren't!
I am trying to simply pass a parameter to a stored proc to return results. Easy? So I thought so too...
This is my stored procedure below (in it's ALTER PROCEDURE form):

Now I know this is a SQL Server forum but I figure anyone who reads this probably does some application programming as well, so here is the code that calls this. It's in VBA using Access 2003. I figure the error is being returned from SQL Server Express so that's why I have come to this forum instead of an Access forum! I could be wrong though...

I have this VB application calling MSSQL through the ODBC connection. It was running fine in Win 2K, but there is following error in Win XP Prof:
[microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] The statement has been terminated.
I notice the version of ODBC MSSQL driver in Win 2K is 2000.81.8053.00, while in Win XP is 2000.85.1117.00. Could it be the cause of the issue? How to resolve it? Can I replace the SQLSRV32.dll in the WINDOWSsystem32 folder directly?
