Hello,
I am trying to deploy reporting service (SQL Server 2005) report on server from visual studio.
When i click on deploy menu.
System asks for user name and password.
Exactly as below
Server : http://machinename/reports
User name :
Password :
I am providing windows user identity (same as web service identity in reporting service configuration wizard). Authentication fails.
Kindly suggest ways to solve it. I may be making mistakes as well.

Error With Basic Authentication - Reporting Service Add In For Sharepoint
Jun 5, 2007Maybe someone can help me. I am running the reporting service add in for Sharepoint and we have only Basic Authentication running on our site (it is on SSL). When i try and open a report in sharepoint it errors out on me. When i go back into IIS and set Windows and Basic authentication it works, but it requires me to enter our domain and username. We need to only use Basic so it will not need the domain. Anyone have any suggestions on what i can do to make this work?

Nov 5, 2004I have a login page that checks the given userid/password against ADSI and redirects the user if successful. My problem seems to come when I try to connect to the SQL database with the user's NT credentials. I have the user's NT account setup in SQL, have anony. disabled in IIS, using Integrated Windows Security in IIS, and am using the following connection string:
connectionString = "data source=SqlServer;initial catalog=pubs;Trusted_Connection=Yes"
I also have this entry in my Web.Config file: <identity impersonate="true" />
Actually, it seems to connect OK, but I can not select any data. I just receive "Select permission denied...." errors even though the user has been given these permissions in SQL.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to use form authentication for my reportserver, When i used Reports virtual directory , UILogon.aspx page appered, after logging into that page this error is coming mentioned below :
The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.8.43'. The expected version is 'C.0.8.40'. To continue, update the version of the report server database and verify access rights. (rsInvalidReportServerDatabase) Get Online Help

Form Based Authentication + Webform Report Viewer Control

Hi,
I would like to know how to call a report from a report viewer control in a web application. The reporting services is forms authenticated. I've done this authentication using the sample solution given by microsoft (adding custom security extension). Now am able to view the reports from Report manager and Report server URL. But i dont know how to authenticate the user from my web application and pass the credentials to the report server to view the report in report viewer control. Can somebody help in this? its bit urgent. Thanks in advance

I'm working on a web project that will display the reports in an iframe to the user. When I was using windows security It worked perfectly.
Now my boss wants me to use form based authentication instead that can authenticate against our current Active Directory. This is working perfectly and does authenticate correctly. The only problem is that when I load a report in the iframe http://myserver/reportserver/myreport-blah reporting services prompts the user to enter in windows credentials. Is there anyway to pass my form credentials to the report server so that the user doesn't have to log in again.
Both the report server and the web app are on the same server BUT in different virtual directories.
PS: I tried using the reportviewer control but it does not display things correctly. For example, I have use a multi select dropdown on the reports and it messes up the drop down when the user only has 1 selection (hiding the selection). If the user has more than one selection the drop down uses scroll bars. I would use the reportviewer control if it displayed exactly like it does when using alternate URL method.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Due to so many controls the reporting sql server after deployment the preview and report must be slow. and i will checked the data transmission in stored procedure from sql server it will be faster.I am having doubt in controls in form will be slower.
Is there any suggestions without decrement the controls and to be report will be faster.

It should be very helpful to be able to create a metadata databases where you could find all releations between different objects (tables,views,reports,cubes,DTS-package,Databases.
Just to get answer for: 'where is view xxx used', 'what are Report xxx depending upon'.
While everything exists in different SQL databases it should possible to do.
Has anyone any comments or the same needs ?

Modeling Registration Form And Reporting Help
Feb 24, 2007I'm trying to determine the best approach to model tables for a registration form that will be used temporarily and then taken offline once the event is over. I'd like to either model the tables so that they were reusable for other registration forms or perhaps use another method to store the data, maybe using XML or some other method if that is possible?? I'm not sure.
Different registration forms would have different input fields thereby requiring different table structures. It seems inefficient to create tables that will only be used temporarily and then no longer used. So, I would need to remember to delete the tables after they have been used or they would just take up space.
The basic requirement for this registration form is to allow the user to fill out the required fields, submit, get a registration reciept confirming their registration and allow the administrators for the event to pull the data weekly or daily into an excel spreadsheet.
I can create a flat table and a stored procedure that inserts the data. I can also write the dts package that exports the data to an excel file, which would require my intervention. I'd like to have something more automatic without my intervention.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm not sure the best approach for this. Is using tables the best way to go even if the tables aren't re-usable? Requiring my attention to delete afterwards.
What are the options to generate the excel reports without my intervention?

Creating A Form With Reporting Services

I'm trying to create a form with reporting services. Basically I am trying to draw this form using lines that has 2 columns down the page. The problem I have is the fields can grow on either side of the page, so the lines will not line up. I have tried putting this in a list box and then text boxes inside of these, but this will not work. I have not been able to get just the line to work because it doesn't grow with the list either. Has anyone else been able to design a form like this? Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!Thanks SQLNewbie1000
How To Connect To Analysis Service Database Through Reporting Service?

In our project, we would like to use the same data source for our analysis service database cubes and for our reporting service reports.
I created the analysis service project first, deployed successfully. When trying to setting up the data source in the report model project, I selected the "create a data source based on another object", and then selected the "create a data source based on an analysis service project". However, there is no analysis service project to select, and no browse button to see where the reporting service is looking for analysis service project either.
I have tried creating a new analysis service project with data source views, cubes, dimensions and all the stuff, but still cannot see the analysis service project in the drop down box to be selected for my reporting model project data source.
As I am fairly new to the reporting service, I'm sure I'm missing something, but couldn't find much information in the help or on the web. Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

SQL Server Agent Service Authentication During Upgrade Wizard

I am trying to upgrade my default instance from SQL Server 2000 Standard to SQL Server 2005 Standard. I get to the service authentication window and hit my first problem. On that window, there is a dropdown box where you should be able to choose the default instance service AND the SQL Server Agent service and set the authentication information for both of those services. That's the way it is in my test environment. However, on my production server, when I click that dropdown box, only the instance appears, and not the agent. Why?
I tried the upgrade this past weekend and ran into this problem. After researching it and not finding anything out about it online, I decided to just go forward anyway since I had lots of backups and copies of everything. The upgrade appeared to go ok, but the agent service wouldn't start. It gave the usual message when you try to start a service that doesn't have anything to do, like the Performance Logs and Alerts service. When I looked at the agent in SQL Server Management Studio, it had (Agent XPs Disabled) next to it. So I researched this and found how to enable it. For some people online, this allowed them to start the agent service, but of course that didn't work for me. Finally in my research online I found that some individuals had a lot of missing system tables in their MSDB and Master databases after the upgrade due to some of the SQL scripts that are part of the upgrade process not running properly. So I compared my system tables and SP's against another SQL 2005 instance I have, and sure enough, there appears to be a lot of missing tables. It was at that point I decided to just restore everything and try again later.
My point in writing that second paragraph is to ask if that was all due to the fact that the SQL Server Agent wasn't listed in the upgrade wizard like it should have been? Or maybe the fact that it wasn't in that dropdown box was evidence of a deeper problem? Is it likely that if I do whatever it is I need to do to make the agent appear in the upgrade wizard that my missing system tables and agent service not starting problems would probably not be an issue anymore? And why would the agent not be appearing in the upgrade wizard?

Query To Linked Indexing Service Returns Nothing When Logged In Through SQL Authentication
Nov 7, 2006I am struggling to get my linked indexing service to return something when I query it. The thing is, when I use Management Studio and log in through Integrated Windows authentication I have no problems. However, when logging in through a test account that only exists in SQL server I get nothing returned. Some observations:
1. Changing the test account to have sa priveliges changes nothing
2. The test account has db_owner role on source db
3. I have tried to create a login using
sp_addlinkedsrvlogin FTIndexWeb, true, 'SomeLogin' but that didn't work. I also tried to do this manually in Mgt Studio.
4. I did not find any authentication related stuff in the management console of my pc in or near the Indexing Service. I'm not sure if my system imposes any security restraints that are invisible to me.
5. My query is
SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY(DNN4_BF_DMX, 'SELECT Path, Rank FROM SCOPE() WHERE FREETEXT(Contents, ''"Confidential"'')')
6. My setup: Win XP (SP 2), SQL SRV 2005 Express, Mgt Studio Express (SP1), (if relevant) .net frameworks 1.1/2.0.
I need to tell my customers how to get this going reliably and now I feel unsure whether this is at all possible. Anyone abe to shine some light on this?

SQL 2012 :: System Cannot Contact A Domain Controller To Service Authentication Request
Dec 16, 2013I am attempting to set up an always on cluster on VMware for testing. setting up everything through the Failover cluster is fine, the trouble comes when I try to set up the AlwaysOn availability group. Whenever I attempt to specify a network location I receive the following error: Operating System Error 1265(The system cannot contact a domain controller to service the authentication request..).
I looked up this error and most sites point towards a Windows 8 homegroup issue. Since this is a on a domain, I don't think it is relevant. I also added the service accounts from server A to Server B and visa versa. I even added the computer objects to its opposite partner..I have attempted to use "Join Only" and do a manual copy.
Is Web Authentication To Reporting Possible?
Mar 26, 2007To start, I am pretty much a MySQL php guy (no yelling) but now asked to do the following, so need to get a step in the right direction. Our company wants to publish web reports via the SQL report manager. Right now when you hit the IP / reports folder you get the authentication popup which I assume is the IIS/NT authentication.
I would like to remove that part and authenticate via a webpage on that box? I can setup a user table on that machine if need be to avoid setting up users on the local machine, but if I must do that, it's still ok, but is there .asp function or module that I can use?

Form Authentication: The Remote Server Returned An Error: (500) Internal Server Error.
Mar 11, 2008I got Form Authentication to work, but I am getting this error sometimes. To reproduce this error consistantly is to run iisreset.exe to have a fresh start. Go to my report server login and open any report.
The page will display: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.
If i click "F5" to refresh the page the report will show up or if you go to another report it will work also. It is just the first time after iisreset.exe. It is very strange.

Passing Authentication From PHP To Reporting Services

I'm aPHP programmer, so I'd rather do this site and the authentication inPHP than learn .NET. The main problem I see is finding a way to passthe authentication to Reporting Services so that when a user runs areport, they are not asked to enter their password a second time.I don't even know where to start researching this problem... Reporting Services Authentication Question

I've changed from Visual Studio 2003 to Visula Studio 2005 by using now the MS SQL 2005 Express Advanced Edition.
As I wanted to deploy another report suddenly it asked me for an authetication for the ReportServer ?
Well, no problem, I thought and looked into the authentications in IIS, but no one of those is working.
Where the heck do I have to look ?

P.S. Using on backend site RS Enterprise Edition SP1 and changed for developing reports from VS 2003 to VS 2005 with reporting services.
Problem Using Reporting Services Forms Authentication With SSL
Jan 23, 2007I am using Reporting services 2005 and have enabled forms authentication using the example found in:
'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90SamplesReporting ServicesExtension SamplesFormsAuthentication Sample'
This works correctly without SSL, but when I enable SSL I get an error when logging in. The symptoms are as follows. I can login to the reporting server (in my case <server>/ReportServer2) directory, but when I login to the report manager (in my case at <server>/Reports2) I get the following error:
'The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send.'
Can anyone suggest why I might be getting this error?

Reporting Services Authentication Ticket Across Domain

I am new to Reporting Services. I want to use Reporting Services 2005 in our application.
My custom web application is on one machine and Reporting Services 2005 is on other machine. I am using Forms Authentication and using Single Sign On for login
If my custom web application and Reporting Services are on same machin I can get "Authentication Ticket" issued by ReportingServices2005 to the Report server.
But in this case I am not able to get "Authentication Ticket" on Report Server since it is on other machine.
I am using ReportViewer control in my web application to display Reports and using LogonUser method to get the Authentication Ticket.
How can I pass CookieAuthentication ticket from my Custom Web Application to Report Server?
Is there any work around to pass Authentication Cookie across Domain or any other solution for this?

SQL Reporting Services With Cross Forest Authentication Issues

I setup CRM 4.0 in one domain with a domain service account. SQL Reporting is located on the same machine using the same service account. SQL is on a different machine. These are in the same single domain forest which has a two way trust relation with another domain of a separate single domain forest. Both domains are W2k3 Native Mode.
The CRM application allows access to users in both domains. The reports are generated with accounts in the first domain where CRM and SQL Reports is located but not for users in the other domain. The CRM's report viewer window displays "The report cannot be displayed."

The take away from the events is either the SQL Reporting or CRM is attempting to access the SQL service with the Anonymous account. I expect it's SQL reporting because the CRM application is not having problems letting in the other domain users. The problem occurs only on reports.
I tried the following:
1. Applied the steps in the CRM Planning Guide for "Taks for a native mode domain with users in a mixed-mode domain." This adds the other domain users to a domain local group. Then assigns Browser access to the SQL reports and SQL database access to the group.
2. Set the CRM server to be trusted for delegation (kerberos only)
3. Created SPNs for http/crmserver domaincrmservice and http/crmserver:5555 domaincrmservice and http/crmserver.domain.local domaincrmservice and http/crmserver.domain.local:5555 domaincrmservice
Any suggestion?
Reporting Services Custom Authentication And Web Reportviewer - Familiar Question
Feb 20, 2007This is a subject that has been brought up before but I have not seen a definitive answer/solution.
We have implemented a custom authentication extension (forms authentication) for reporting services and it has been working just fine under "normal" conditions; "normal" being users logging in, viewing reports, and then moving on.
Recently some reports were created by our report group and they contain Dundas gauge controls for "dashboard" style reports. These reports are meant to be up all day and they post back every few seconds because the data they present is mission critical.
This of course exposed the inability of the reportviewer control to stay in the context of Report Manager when it comes to the cookie exchange and authentication thus resulting in the following error:

I created a quick ASP.NET web application and added the reportviewer to it, implemented IReportServerCredentials and the report came up as expected but behaved the same way as it did in Report Manager. Same with a Windows Forms application.
Increasing the cookie timeout in the forms authentication tag is an option, but not an attractive one. Extending the reportviewer control is also an option, but I don't know if that is a good candidate right now because I don't see anything extensible yet.
Is this just the nature of RS with custom authentication or is there a viable solution out there right now?
