Reporting Services :: Adding (new) Child Domain Users To SSRS As System Users?

We have an existing SSRS server, and have just created a new child domain. We'll be migrating users from the parent to the child, and want to add the users of that new domain with access to SSRS. In the parent domain they are able to access, but after migration with the child domain account, they cannot.
I have added the group CHILDDomain Users with a system user role on SSRS, and PARENTDomain Users was already there.
Is there any additional step I should/could take to get this active?

I created a SSRS Reports in SQL Server 2012 and deployed in server, I want this report to be accessed by one particular User created in that hosted server and any time if user hits the Report URL it asked for login Prompt.Suppose if I create a Windows User "ReportUser" in report server , I want when user hits the URL he should be able to access the report by providing the 'ReportUser" credentials.

I€™m looking for a way to add users to view reports in SSRS. We have set up SSRS to use forms authentication and have been running with no problems for a few months now. When we add new users to the aspnetdb we also have to go into management studio and give them permission to view reports. (Currently all users have the same permission which is set in the root folder policy in SSRS)
We have now set up a .NET application which allows our client to manage their users online, however they don€™t have the knowledge or access to Management Studio in order to permit new users to access reports.
Is there a way, through SP or .NET script to programmatically add users to the policy / security descriptor in SSRS. I have already been playing with the XML Description in the SecDesc table of the ReportingServices database. This seems to contain all the necessary data, but modifying doesn€™t work. In the same table is a Binary SecDesc field which I suspect has complementary data to go with it. Is there a way of generating this data?
Any help with this, or another method will be greatly appreciated.

I have a report where a user selects a AD Global Group. Then I have another parameter that populates with the members of that group. My problem is the userlist parameter isn't populating. If I hard code a Global group name it works, but it isn't getting the Global Group parameter when I use @GlobalGroup.

I have a report with two parameters (@StartDate and @EndDate) to enable users to specify values to customize the data in the report. These two parameters are created within the Dataset. The parameter visibility is set to visible.Opening the report directly works as expected (the user is able to input the date parameters as he wishes and then sees only the data of the specified time period, see image1).Now I want to use this report as a subreport (beeing opened from my main report): But when I open the report within the main report (via action go to report) the parameters are not shown anymore, see image2.Why are the parameters not shown anymore?

I am in a project where we are using a vanillla Reporting Services 2005 with the builtin report portal. No sharepoint integration yet.
We have successful deployments where we limit access to different folders based on AD-accounts and groups. In this particular case I have a folder for which I would like to allow access to all AD-users within the entire company.
So basically I know how to limit access but I don't know how to enable access for everyone. Is there a simple way to do it? I have googled and search mshelp but I couldn't find anything. I will admit to the search being quite quick but as usual time is short.

how to create indented child rows under the parent, in SSRS report. I am quite new to SSRS, the group by function works in a different (and obvious) way then what I want.I have a sample dataset as below.

We are currently in the process of migrating users from a NT 4.0 domain to a win2k Domain. On some of our SQL Servers the Windows Authenticated users own objects within the database. These Windows Authenticated users also own SQL Server Job and DTS Packages. Once these Windows Authenticated users are moved over to the Windows 2000 Domain they have to qualify there database objects, they can not see their SQL Server Jobs they created and they cannot modify the DTS Packages they previously created. Is their a tool or script out there that can fix this problem of moving the Windows Authenticated users smoothly over to the new domain.

I have a problem that im using Active Directory in Win2k Server, when domain users logon to workstations they can't open sql server databases, SQL server is local installed on Workstation and operating system is XP.
When i give administrator rights to users the sql server works fine.
Tell me is there is a way to use sql server without giving to the user administrative rights?

I have several access databases in mind to migrate to SQL server. I installed MS SQL 2005 Express on my machine. I will have procedures to run with authorizations beyond that of a common user, such as database administrative work where server agent is not available, I may rely on users' log-on prompt to do some maintenance work. However, I cannot get the EXEC AS 'DomainUser' to work. The procedures can be created OK. But whenever they are called, the following message shows up:
Msg 15404, Level 16, State 19, Procedure XXX, Line 0
Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'DomainUser', error code 0xea.
I tried to tweak with the account under which the server service is running. There are three options under built-in account: Local system, Local service, and Network Service. My understanding is that Network Service will use the log-on of the current user of the computer. I have admin right of the computer. None of the three options work. Additionally, when I specify an account (my own account), it's the same thing.
The procedure xp_logininfo always fails when I query a specific domainuser.
The ADHelper is configured to run manually.
I could not think of other ways to get a possible solution. Any help is much appreciated.

Is SQL Server sensitive to Domain group name? Like "Domain Admin"?
I have user that belong to "myDomainDomain Admin" group. Group is in SQL as sysadmin but user cannot login using domain credentials. When I move that user to a different domain group which that group is in SQL again as sysadmin my user is able to login.Â
Environment: SQL 2008 Standard Edition.Â

I have a field on my report that uses the following expression to determine the commission amount for each order line. It works correctly to get the commission amount for each line, however, I need to get a total of the commission amount for each Salesperson.Â
My report is grouped in the following manner:
Salesperson, Type of Sale, Invoice Number, then the detail invoice line items (where the formula below reside). How can I get the totals for the Salesperson and the Type of Sale?

I have created a new SSRS Server and done all of the basic security setup for the site but I am having trouble with client machine access...At first I had an issue with being able to access report manager from any client and ended up having to shut off windows authentication on the client IE settings to get it to work. Now I am trying to run Report Builder from a client machine and it will not download. The client machine is on the same domain and my user id is set as an administrator within SSRS and as a local admin on the 2008 server.Â
I had the thought that without windows auth in the browser maybe it can't permit me access to the application but if I turn it on I can't get to it to download it. I have set Full Control rights to the folder as well. Most of the info out there is for 2005 and that uses IIS to host the pages where as 2008 does not. Here is the details of the error:

We have purchased an ERP system from a vendor which uses system DSN for all the reports. The system automatically creates DSN with Sa with SQL Server. The problem is the DSN is not working with AD users.
Active Directory server: Windows Server 2008 32 Bit.
SQL Server: Windows Server 2012 64 Bit. This server is already member of my Domain. e.g. CompDomain.com
What should I need to do in client PCs or Server to avail ODBC to AD users.

I am creating a subscription to deliver reports via email on SSRS. Â One of the problems I am having is I can't add groups to the To: or Cc: fields for report distribution. Â I am able to add individual user email which works fine but it will be a lot of emails to add if I have to go that route. So how do you add groups to report subscriptions?

Have small network of NT workstations, A PDC and BDC. We have one SQL database on the PDC and two others on the BDC. I added a new machine to the network, added users to that machine. When I try to add the new user, (Not Machine) to the database on the BDC, using security, add new user, I get the following message: Microsoft SQL-DMO ( ODBC SQL Statement 42000)
Error 15401: Windows NT user or group "domainnameusername" not found Check the name again.
The user 01 is listed on both the PDC and the BDC. I am totally baffled by this. Any help would be appreciated.

Created a report in SSRS 2005 on a test windows server 2003.
I have admin rights on this server.
I can access it by http://localhost/reports
and then click on the report itself to view the data.
Now I would like my colleague to access this report on this server.
He does NOT have admin rights.
I would like him to view the report from his browser by typing:
http://servername/reports or something simiilar.
How/where do I add him to have access to the report?

Based on our database infrastructure, we need to secure our SQL databases. The security issue concerns on allowing a limited number of Domain Admin users to access the SQL databases.
We tried certain ways, based on the documents in the Microsoft web site, but we couldn€™t reach to the point of preventing the Domain Admin users accessing the SQL databases.

We have a problem authenticating domain users contained in local machine user groups across multiple web servers in a scale out deployment.
When we originally setup our single SSRS database server we were told the a best practice is to add domain users to local user groups on the SSRS machine.
Now we want to add more web servers and create a scale-out deployment. So, we added the web servers and configured the scale-out deployment. But, only administrators can see the reports since all of our SSRS roles are assigned permissions such as "Machine1User_Group".
We were told that we have to create identical local groups on Machine2 and Machine3 and then add them to the SSRS roles. This is prohibitive since it would mean managing 3 identical user groups containing thousands of domain users.
Is there a better way to do this without using Domain User Groups?

I want to create a report of our customers displaying the monthly sales totals and display the Quarter totals at the end of every third month, e.g.

I've created the report with the Quarter totals and the far right end, but I can place my finger on how to do it every three months.
My data exists in one table. Here is the query:

I have had this issue just pop up. I have local users who can connect fine, but my users that require connection by VPN cannot connect. I get the server not available or access denied error. I did confirm that the VPN'ers are connected to the network correctly and can see that their shares and mappings are correct. Any ideas? Thanking you all in advance!!

I am trying to revert back to Windows 7 after upgrading to Windows 10, however it will not let me and the following message occurs: "Remove new accounts.Before you can go back to a previous version of Windows, you'll need to remove any user accounts you added after the most recent upgrade. The accounts need to be completely removed, including their profiles.You created one account (NT SERVICEMSSQLSERVER) Go to Settings> Accounts> Other users to remove these accounts and then try again".However I did not create any new users and there are no other users listed in the Accounts section.

hi alli've got two tables called "webusers" (id, name, fk_country) and "countries" (id, name)
at the meantime, i've a search-page where i can fill a form to search users. in the dropdown to select the country i included an option which is called "all countries".
now the problem is: how can i make a stored procedure that makes a restriction to the fk_country depending on the submitted fk_country parameter?it should be something like

Hi there NT Server,sqlserver 7.0, Integrated Security. I used "sp_attach_db" to attach a database to the sql server. The database has 3 standard roles with members in each of those roles. But i am not able to add a user to any of the roles through Enterprise Manager(No users are listed, except the other 2 roles). Also when i click "users" under the Database in EM, no users are listed except "dbo" with sa login. Luckily since some members are there in the roles, they are able to connect to the database. Also i am not able to add the user bcos the user exists in the public role and i get an error message "user already exists in DB". The user has logged into the NT and everything is fine. I copied the .mdf and .ldf files from a "Standard Security" Server.

I have a need to add all the users listed in the sysxlogins table to the db_datawriter role. I wrote a proc that does this. It indicates that each user is successfully added to the role, but they aren't. If I look at the user in EM, they don't have that role checked. I've tried all the obvious stuff like close EM and re-open, etc...it doesn't help.

Is there a certain way of adding users to access a linked server? Ilinked to an Oracle server but somehow, I'm unable to add any users,even after trying in EM. I have to give three users read access to a database.  My manager told me to map them to a User called "zxDatabase.Read.ug". I scripted the User and got this...

USER[zxDatabase.Read.ug]
FORLOGIN[zxDatabase.Read.ug]
I don't see a Login at the server level named zxDatabase.Read.ug, so this is confusing. Where is this login in SSMS?
How do I map my three users to user zxDatabase.Read.ug. Or am I not understanding correctly? Do I just add there windows login to the database as Users and configure them the same as zxDatabase.Read.ug

hello all,
mates i have in my care around 10 applications. each application has it's own database and in each database i have a users table. in these tables i am also having columns for users rights for the applications.
since the users are the same for all 10 applications i am beginning to feel that it's time for a change. i am trying to develop a single database for users but i did not find an appropriate solution for the users rights management. i am afraid that if i put together too many columns in a single table it will decrease performance.
do you know any pattern / article / book for a users management system?

I do not understand the sequence in which to add logins/users. A coupleof things to note. I can not use vbscript - it has to be done using thesqldmo objects (or in a sql script).The sequence I use now is:1- create login, set default db2- add login to sql server3- set db owner4- create user5- add user to master db6- add user to tempdb - blows up hereError 'Microsoft SQL-DMO: [SQL-DMO]This object is already in acollection.'I need the user in 3 dbs. Any help greatly appreciated. Thinking aboutit...I bet by adding it to the master db that it is automatically addedto tempdb so I will try to add it to the 2rd db and see if that works.Thanks!-Will
