Reporting Services :: Adjust Table Height And Width?
Nov 5, 2015
I have designed a matrix report to display activities for which I added a table with in one of the cell When I run the report, I see activities but the row alignment is not proper and also when there are no records it displays blank.
I need to expand my page width and height. The report designer and report viewer allows me to do that. The expanded page does not export to the PDF Format. I am stuck width 6 1/4 x 8/12 for the PDF format. I am using the windows report viewer.
I developed a SSRS report, the problem is i dont have data in DEV server. So i dont know how to adjust the column lengths in ssrs report. is there any property so that the column length can be adjusted dynamically based on the data length whenever data is available in production.
We have a ReportViewer control sitting inside a master page's content placeholder. All works fine except when I set the width and height to 100% rather than a fixed size in pixels. This is what we require, as we'd like the control to resize automatically along with the page.
I'm aware of a fix whereby you remove the doctype statement from the page's script, but this seems to have no effect on a page which is based on a master page.
Is there any other way we can get our ReportViewer to work in a 100% width/height mode?
When I set the Width and Height properties of my reportviewer on my aspx page to 100% (I do not want to explicitly set these properties) it does not show properly.
However, it show properly if I remove the doctype and set the asyncrendering property to false. Is there another option than removing the doctype and setting asyncrendering = false?
I have a table where I added several header rows above the details row and increased the row heights to 0.4in. The row height looks fine in preview, but when I export to Excel, it is as if I had not increased the row height. I have found through trial and error that if I place a textbox below my table and position it so that it is under the rightmost column of my table, then I get my desired row heights in Excel. If I remove the textbox or if it is not under the rightmost column then the row heights revert back to their original size. The textbox can be empty and still has the desired effect. i am using SQL Server 2008 RTM and VS 2008 SP1.
I am trying to print only the grand total raw. The grand total is based on the information in the groups and therefore I cannot hide the groups.
Instead I am trying to minimize the size of the group raw by sizing font, shrink, etc but with no success. I still get a lot of unwanted space. How can resolve this?
I have created an SSRS report containing a bar chart. The Y-axis contains some application names which are displayed based on a certain criteria. Hence sometimes there are only 2 values in y-axis while sometimes it may range upto 20 items. I have tried a lot but have been unsuccessful in getting a dynamic y-axis which changes with the number of items present.
Will the width property of a column be able to be set at run-time (i.e. ability to set the width of a column to an expression) in SQL Reporting Services 2008? One problem I have seen is the inability to set the width of columns in a report when you you have several columns whose order is determined based on parameters.
Lets say I have 2 columns in a report and two fields from the database which will populate those columns: 1 field that is varchar(5) and one which is varchar(50). If I do not know which column each field will go to until runtime how am I supposed to adjust the column width? Letting the column width be set by an expression would solve everything as I could pass the width in to the report. As it stands now, I would have to set each column's width to accomodate a field of type varchar(50) in order to avoid wrapping of data.
You could say just create 2 reports, one for each case, but what if I had 15 fields? 20?how to dynamically set the width of a column? Will the width of a column be able to be set at run-time in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 via expression or some other means?
I have an old application running on SQL Server 6.5 (6.50.416) that has a number of internal issues - inability to dump the transaction logs (would dump 9gb out of a 10gb datbase everytime regardless of truncating the logs), transaction log size of 0 even though 700mb allocated, very long DBCC's (though they complete properly).
I am trying to salvage the database by using DTS to copy out the schema, data, sp's, etc. into a new database.
I have the conversion running without error. Data usage goes from almost 10gb down to under 3gb and the transaction logs are now working.
However, when I use DBCC checkdb on the new database, I get the following (just a small sample):

The errors occur only on 3 specific user tables, and are consistent each time I try the conversion. Same exact page numbers and offsets (page pointers are of course different). I do not get any DBCC errors on the original DB at all. I can do select's on the tables without issue, and they seem to have the correct amount of data (did row counts and sums of various columns)
Any insight into what might be causing this or what the actual error is would be welcome.
Hi. I have a rectangle in the page header which contains the report graphic and title. I use the rectangle's Propeties > Visibility tab > Expression, with the following code,
=IIF(Globals!PageNumber = 1, False, True)
However, on pages after page 1, the report table's height is the same as page 1 and it's positioned at the same spot as page 1 -- down about 2 inches from the top. How do I get the table's height to fill the page on pages after page 1?
Hi I have a report of 8.5"(W) by 11"(H).The header and footer size are fixed. The header size is 4.75 in and footer size is 2.375in. In the report body I have a table where the data is dynamic. The problem is when the data is small i mean like 2 or 3 columns it doesnt touch the footer . If we have more than 10 columns or so it goes to the next page and even then it doesnt touch the footer beacuse the data stops there. If we have like 4 columns or so in the table then it touches the footer. I tried to replace the table with the list but I got the same problem there also. I tried to place the table in a rectangle and it has the same problem. I want the table to touch the footer no matter how much the data is . Is there any work around for this problem?
I really appreciate your help and time Thanks Hobbs
I have a report where in I want to show each record on a separate page.
So, to achieve that I took a single cell from table control, expanded it and used all the controls in that single cell. This looks nice so far.
Now, I also have to show a sub grid on each record. So I took a table control and added on the same single cell and tried to add a parent group to the table row.
When I preview, it throws this error.
"The tablix has a detail member with inner members. Detail members can only contain static inner members."
What am I doing wrong? How can I achieve table grouping inside a table cell?
I have a subreport on my main report, and the subreport contains a matrix. When I run the report, the subreport seems to expand beyond the width of the main report. The matrix itself does not expand beyond the width of the body of the main report, but for some reason it seems that the subreport does. The subreport does not contain any headers that might be messing up the width. If I cut and paste the matrix from the subreport directly onto the main report, and remove the subreport, it prints fine. But as soon as I include the subreport on the main report it prints with blank pages because the subreport expands beyond the width of the body of the main report. I have checked the width and margins on the subreport and compared to the width of the main report and all looks good. Can anyone help?
I'm trying to read in a flat file (which, admittedly, has one very wide column), and it keeps breaking because of truncation when it tries to read in the file.
I've a report projects where each report has a number of columns and the spec is to have all the columns print-out on the same page. Is there a setting that will auto-scale these columns to fit to the page or will I have to edit the font size and widths manually on each report to fit to the page?
I am trying to migrate my reports from SQL server 2000 reporting services 32bit to 2005 64bit. I am following the migration steps that MS specified. Restored my Reportserver and ReportserverTempDB databases Then I was using the configure Report services to upgrade these databases but I always end up getting the follwoing exception when I run the upgrade on the "Database Setup" configuration for 'ReportServerTempDB' database System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB'. No entry found with that name. Make sure that the name is entered correctly. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.Run(RunBehavior runBehavior, SqlCommand cmdHandler, SqlDataReader dataStream, BulkCopySimpleResultSet bulkCopyHandler, TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteNonQueryTds(String methodName, Boolean async) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.InternalExecuteNonQuery(DbAsyncResult result, String methodName, Boolean sendToPipe) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() at Microsoft.ReportingServices.Common.DBUtils.ApplyScript(String connectionString, String script) at ReportServicesConfigUI.SqlClientTools.SqlTools.ApplyScript(String connectionString, String script)
It's driving me crazy, why is it looking for 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB' in the catalog instead of 'ReportServerTempDB'? Is it possible to migrate from 32bit to 64bit?
I am trying to create a program that transfers tables to flat files. At this point in time, I have suceeded in created one that creates delimited files.
However, I am now trying to create fixed-width files as you can do with the SSIS designer, but programatically.
Is there a way to programatically determine the width of a column from the source table? I can not seem to find any kind of function or member that stores this information or allows me to retrieve it.
I know what I need to change in order to set a width for a column, but I just don't know how to find the width without just asking the user to provide one.
I know we could change the data type or width of a table column in SQl 7 database, but I am not certain if this column is a primary key. Can we change a primary key column width? If we can, how about this column as a foreign key in another table? Will it be automatically updated to the same width? Thanks in advance for your input.
I have a dataset with 2 fields : code and value. I have a parameter that will give me the data to insert into the table I want to make. The number of rows is not fixed, so I couldn't create, for example, a table with a fixed number of rows.
I want to create some kind of table that will allow me to have cells that look like this : "code" : "value" and have 3 of them (like 3 columns) before I switch to the next line (row).
Just to make it clear, I'm not using any SQL requests here, data comes from XML.
We had a server give out on us completely. All that is left is a back up of the SSRS database. We have been able to get a new SSRS environment working but the symmetric key doesn't seem to work. Reports will run if we delete all sensitive data through the Config manager and reenter the connection strings into the datasource but if we can get the symmetric key saved in the ReportingServices database to work correctly it will save us a ton of effort. Can we make use of the symmetric key saved in the ReportServer.dbo.Keys table?

We currently have a report generated weekly running script which creates an excel file and pivot tables. Using pivot tables we can drag and drop the various required fields and the report changes instantly. But i was told there is a limitation of size while using pivot tables.
Can this report be easily created with almost all the flexibility in reporting services, if so could you please guide me with some sample report or tutorials.
currently there is a some store procedures thats run every week using a DTS manually, is there a way of automating this.
Hi all, I am having problem with table control I added one table control to my report designer. How can i get horizontal and vertical lines to my table. Regards.
