Reporting Services :: Appending Data To A Previous Report Run To Create History

We have a need to report on historical data when none exists in the database.
Create a tabular report rdl that is run on a regular schedule. This report run is saved as an Excel sheet that overwrites the previous run, which has the same name.
Report is designed to use two data sources--the database and and the previously run Excel sheet. The data is "merged" using the Lookup function thereby creating a new report that includes the history needed.

We are using SSRS 2012. Before we were with 2005. Both the versions have the problem. When a change made to parameters (like adding additional parameter to existing report or changing default value of parameter) using visual studio on developers machine and re-deploy to server, additional parameter or changes to parameter is not showing up. So, we are first deleting the report from server and then re-deploying. This works fine. But we realized that we are losing history of the report (like data related to this report run from execution log). We need the history of report. It is very important to top management to see the details.When I searched in forums, users say that it still exist in 2012 and 2014 and every one talks about deleting and re-deploying report. I would like to know if there is any other alternate route to redeploy additional parameter and not lose history.

I have a report that runs monthly and they want to see the previous 2 months of data. This data is stored no place other than the snapshot of the same report for the previous 2 months. Is there any way I can display the last 2 snapshots/history withing my report? Thanks.

I use BIDS 2008 R2 and I have a SQL script that works fine and gives me the desired output in SQL Management studio.

However i need to create a report so that someone else can enter the date time as a parameter in a report to get the required results. Normally i would drop my SQL script into BIDS and it would create the dataset but as this has a declared value it gives an error "The Declare SQL construct or statement is not supported."

I have VS 2013 Express and SQL Server 2014 (dev. license). I've created some projects in VS where I connect to SQL 2014 Dbs with stored procedures, functions, the usual suspects. Additionally I have Report Builder 3.0. I downloaded and installed SSDT-BI but it doesn't seem to like my VS2013 Express projects any more than I, evidently, like it. So I'm at a loss to understand how to use it to generate reports I can putt on the server and call with my projects. In short, I absolutely don't understand this stuff.I think I want to write reports using Report Builder 3.0 that I can save to my SQL Server Report Server and run from a VS2013 Express Project.

I have 6 separate mailing label like reports with a textbox inside a cell. I tried to join them into one report with subreports"but" it does not work since you need the print layout in order to get both columns to show. What is the best way to accomplish this task?

We migrated ssrs from 2008 to ssrs 2014.after that we need to move only subscriptions to New 2014 report server DB.
How to proceed that.
I am trying to insert record in DB. But subscription ID is not identity column. How to do this.
Can I place old Subscription IDS in New 2014 reporting DB?

how to create indented child rows under the parent, in SSRS report. I am quite new to SSRS, the group by function works in a different (and obvious) way then what I want.I have a sample dataset as below.

whenever I try to create a PowerView report on an existing powerpivot- excel sheet I get following error:"An error occurred while loading the model for the item or data source 'xxx'. Verify that the connection information is correct and that you have permissions to access the data source." Error details:

We are about to implement SSRS reports (SQL Server 2012), and have found one issue we don't like. The report looks great when we open it in pdf format. However, when we open it in Excel format, we want it to be the raw data, not look like the pdf report. I tried the simpl headers, and that removed the page header/footer. However, the report format was still in play.In other words, we would like the report when opened in Excel, to look just like it does when we open it as a CSV.I have tried to modify the config file a couple of times. Here is my latest attempt:

Essentially I have set Visible = "false" for the Excel type, and tried to duplicate the CSV, changing the name to make it look to the user like it is "Excel". This fails. I checked the event viewer, and I see two entries.. The RSReportServer.config file has been modified. (Information)The value for UrlRoot in RSReportServer.config is not valid. The default value will be used instead.I literally took the file, opened it in Notepad, pasted in my changes, from another notepad window, and tried to run the report. I did not see EITHER of the two names I expected, using the OverrideNames tag. As I said earlier, I was able to affect the outcome, by setting SimpleHeaders to true (or however it is identified). That did work in that the page header and footer was removed.

I have few reports under different folders in Report Manager. Is there a way to set the data source for the whole folder rather than each report individually? There is also a folder where reports generate dynamically. Since the report project doesn't exist anymore, I can't set the data source through code. How can I set the data source for the whole folder?

How can we programmatically cause a Manual Report History Snapshot to be created.
I know it can be done using the Webservice. How would we do it using the ReportServer stored procedures. Which SP/SP's can we call. With what parameters.

I have a SSRS report with 4 sub reports embedded. Previously i faced a situation where sub reports was getting displayed with static data even if there is no data being pulled from data set. I solved this problem according to solution provided in my previous post here. Now blank space is getting displayed in place of empty sub report. But still the main report that hosts empty sub report (Which has a header with header name coming from main data set) is getting displayed. Is there any way wherein the whole main report can be suppressed when the sub report has no data?

The feature: "Remote access to report data sources and/or the report server database" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. (rsOperationNotSupported)

I have set up a report on reporting services and deployed it on a server. (server A)
The data comes from 2 databases - one on Server A and one on server B
I can view the reports when logged into Server A, but if I try to view them from a networked PC I get the following message:
An error has occurred during report processing.
Cannot create a connection to data source 'byvshs01'.
For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
Byvshs01 is Server B.
However, if I remove the data from server B from the report, I can view it ok. So it seems you can view data from a DB located on the server that hosts the reports, but not if the DB is located elsewhere.
Is there any way around this?

then use column #SALONS AUDITED to calculate the last total, e.g.
%AUDITED dean : 4/38

I need a report that shows calcul of a field for current year as well as previous year respecting this rule expression(Last-Last Previous)/Last Previous*100 (I work with MDX Query and i work with SSRS 2008).
Also the report runs on a Year Parameter. Below is an example for the result for example i selected the years 2010 2011 2012 i can select another years because i have the report runs on a Year Parameter

Hi My project is in .NET 2003 i.e. framework 1.1 and database in SQLServer 2000. But the reports have been developed using SQLServer 2005 Reporting Services. Now when I am trying to deploy them through deployment project of .NET its giving me following error:"Using other editions of SQL Server for report data sources and/or the report server database" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. I am in the process of creating a Report, and in this, i need ONLY the row groups (Parents and Child).I have a Parent group field called "Dept", and its corresponding field is MacID.I cannot create a child group or Column group (because that's not what i want).I am then inserting rows below MacID, and then i toggle the other rows to MacID and MacID to Dept.

I have a table called my_history that has columns like this
column_name , old_value, new_value, key, date
bankaccount 30 50 1 01-Apr-2008
bankbalance 10 14 2 04-Apr-2008
and so on............
The history table is populated using triggers
The main table called my has a structure like
bankaccount bankbalance bankname name address key
50 50 xyz abc ford 1
30 14 abc xyz east 2
Now using this information can i reconstruct the records in my table before the update happened ?
I am finding it very difficult to do this is there a way to do this in t-sql ?
The problem is my_history table where the column_name keeps on varrying

I cannot copy the report data from report viewer? is there any work around for copy ?

In Report Builder 1.0 you could drag a column to a filter and see the data before select the values for the filter.I can't find a way to do that in report builder 3.0. is it possible to see the data of a column in Report builder or SSRS?

I have created a custom data extension.
I am using this custom data extension from BI Studio.
Que1: I want to create report parameters from BI studio and capture them in my Data Extension.
Que2: Every report parameter has so many properties, like hidden, internal, default value etc, how do capture that information in my data extension, the parameters only give me name and value.
Que3: I know I can capture command Text. So My command can be Select * From tablename where fieldname= @myFieldname. Once I get this commandText in my data extension, How do extract parameters of the command?
Que4: If I have any custom attributes in my RDL file, Can I capture them in my Data Extension ?
Any help is appreciated...
