Reporting Services :: Axis-X Labels Rotate 90° Doesn't Work
Jun 14, 2012
i would like to show all Labels available in a Chart and rotate the Labels 90°. How can i do that ? I changed the Propertie "Interval" to 1, "LabelsAngle" to 90, "LabelsAutoFitDisabled" to true in my Chart Axis.
What is the best optimised options to display the date labels with bi-weekly intervals starting date Date from one month to three months future from the current date?
As per above requirements, I have built the below line graph query and graph, currently it only displays the date labels as per data but I need to display date labels with bi-weekly intervals starting date from one month to three months future from the current date. Also another issue found, if there are few more date labels then does not show all labels on horizontal axis.
Select /* Set Week End date as Sunday */ DATEADD(DAY, 7 - DATEPART(WEEKDAY, t.TaskBaseline0FinishDate), CAST(t.TaskBaseline0FinishDate +1 AS DATE)) as[WeekEnd] ,count(t.TaskBaseline0FinishDate) as Baseline ,count(t.TaskFinishDate) as Finish
When I tried to create a bar chart using SSRS 2012, the vertical axis values are repeating for smaller data sets values. It's only happening when the data labels are below 5, when the data is above 5 this chart represents data fine.
I tried specifying the custom intervals and this option all together eliminated the bar for value 1, instead it only showed the value 1 as text on the chart.
I tried changing the data interval type as number and the data type is of Integer, these are counts which I am showing in the chart.
I did the following steps: 1. Created a report using SQL Reporting Services. (OK) 2. Deployed the project (ABC) into the ServerX. (OK) 3. Opened the SQL Reporting Services using the Report Manager on localhost of the ServerX. (OK) 4. Opened the ABC folder. Files deployed. (OK) 5. Created two subscriptions. One (Service1) for printing to the Printer. One (Service2) for saving into a file. (OK) 6. Opened the Service1. In the View Tab, after entering the Report Parameters, clicked on "View Report". (OK) 7. I expected view to show what I viewed in the Project (ABC). (NOK - It printed a wrong format. Alignment was completely different) 8. Tried to export to a TIFF file expecting to see the same view as I saw in the Project (ABC). (NOK - It printed a wrong format. Alignment was completely different) 9. Tried to export to a PDF file expecting to see the same view as I saw in the Project (ABC). (NOK - It printed a wrong format. Alignment was completely different) 10. In the subscriptions, I ran the Service1 to print the report from the SQL Reporting Services directly onto the Printer. (NOK - It printed a wrong format. Alignment was completely different)
Is this an expected issue with SQL Reporting Services which incase doesnt make any sense to use it. Or it is an issue with my code. All I assumed that I should expect from SQL Reporting Services is: if I create a Report and I preview the Report, I should get a WYSIWYG formats.
Half the way through our project, we are completely stuck up. SOS!!!

I have a problem. I do a basic report with just one simple table: _id _name _comment _file
I'm able to get all informations into a table. But for the file, I created a URL Link for this file. But when the reporting is generating in html, if I click on the file's link, nothing happens. But I can dowload the file with a right click. And if I see proprieties of the link, the link is rights, and it's works good if I copy and paste it on the IE url bar.
So for summary, my problem is : nothing happens if I click on the file, but a want a window's opening with the choose "Open with" or "Save on the disk".
I installed Reporting Services 2014 on Windows 7. When i am trying to start home page i can see only HTML page and the text: "localhost/reports - /",then double lines (<hr><hr>) and text "Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 12.0.4100.1"Maybe the windows user (SERVER_NAMEADMINISTRATOR) has not sufficient permissions ?
I have a parameter that chooses its available items from a query (with a label and a value column). I set the default for the parameter to the a particular value.
It works in Preview from design mode, but when I deploy it and run the report, it does not set the default.
I'm currently working on a report and have all the requirements taken care of save one. I need to flip my text 180 degrees. I have seen how to do this by making an image on the fly and then rotating the image, etc. And that is what we previously had in place.
Unfortunately the reports are getting so large (20 images on a page, 150 pages for the report) that the reports will not print in their entirety through Citrix and cuts off after about 120 pages.
I also tried using upside down fonts which won't work as they flip the letter on a X axis as opposed to rotating them along a pivot. Sadly we can't reduce the number of occurrences per page or decrease the page count. So those are not options. They were the first things I asked about.
Question (X-axis): How does automatic x-axis label positioning work? Answer: Currently, built-in Reporting Services charts only allow automatic positioning in order to avoid overlapping the x-axis labels. The label direction (horizontal/vertical) of the axis labels depends on the label string sizes and the available space. X-axis labels are either shown horizontally in one line, horizontally in multiple lines with line breaks, or vertically. Showing x-axis labels at an angle, or explicit manual control over individual x-axis label positions is currently not supported.
Note There are several third-party chart add-ins that enable more control over axis labels. These add-ins can be installed on top of Reporting Services 2005.
I have exactly the problem indicated above in that some sectors of my Pie Charts I am are trying to produce are small and are close together thus labels overlap in some cases. As it says above, only automatic placing of the labels is available, but there could be a solution through third party software.
Does anyone know of a 3rd party solution/add in or a workaround?
I have a horizontal barchart with integer values, both positive and negative. Major gridlines are shown and I have not specified the interval or the label format. Sometimes the gridline labels (Y axis) show decimal values. Is there anyway to format these? I have tried to format the labels as "#0" but then I see labels occuring twice. I have also played with the intervals, but then sometimes, depending on the values, the zero line is not being shown.
I am creating a report to be used to print mailing labels. Size 1" x 2 5/8" (3 columns of 10 labels). I seem to have everything but the vertical spacing working properly. I have used a rectangle set to the size of the labels which contains a list box containing text boxes containing expressions to pull in the fields. Some of the street addresses are two lines with the majority being only one line.
I have joined the two fields containing the street addresses and inserted a new line command so each field will print on its own line but yet be contained within the same text box. Everything except the text box containing the street addresses are set to not increase or decrease. My problem is that on the pages of the report where labels vary between the one and two line street addresses the labels tend to creep down which in some cases causes data to be printed over two labels. Any ideas on what I can do to format these to print properly?
Is it possible to have the value labels always on top of the bars of a bar chart?
On the Chart Series Labels properties under Appearance, I used Top for Position, but if the bar reaches the top of the chart area (and that is determined automaticaly by the Y Axis that and can't be a fixed value).
Is it possible to repeat the row labels for matrix reports where there are multiple groups. So if the matrix report rows are department, division, employee then have all three labels show up on each row not just at the breaks. Cannot seem to find a way to do this. thanks
Some labels such as 33314 are displaying over the columns. I need all labels to display at the top. How can I fix this without changing the size of the chart?
I have a sheet of mailing labels in which the first three rows have been used. I want a parameter or something when running an SSRS label report where I can specify what row to begin printing on and how many rows I want to print. Is that possible?
I have 6 separate mailing label like reports with a textbox inside a cell. I tried to join them into one report with subreports"but" it does not work since you need the print layout in order to get both columns to show. What is the best way to accomplish this task?
I am counting order type by a field which can have 3 different values. In a stacked column chart I am displaying the count of those different values, and showing a data label with the count for each order type. See screenshot.
Now I would like to show a line based on the total of each order type. I can see that SSRS already know the number of each order type as it is shown in the labels.
How do I add those numbers (shown in the labels) together and get it into a Total field? I would prefer not to alter my SQL query, if possible.
I developed a rdlc report. I have a graph chart. Sometimes the value of a label can =0. If the value =0 I want to hide the labelname. However, I also have dummy values =0. This is so that I can have spaces between the bars. The dummy values labels isn't shown in the graph. This works great. I need to add to the expression that if the name of the label isn't dummy but the value =0 to hide the labelname.
The data from sql: Expression in graph under chart data->category groups->category group properties->label: =Microsoft.VisualBasic.Interaction.SWITCH(Fields!LabelName.Value = "aTotalForRetire", "Retirement", Fields!LabelName.Value = "cTotalForRelatives", "Relatives", Fields!LabelName.Value = "eTotalForDisability", "Disability")
The result is below. I want to hide the label relatives as in this example the value=0. It will not always be the case. How can I do that?
I'm putting Interval 50 and Maximum 100 in Vertical Axis Property but by default 0 is coming. I unchecked mark of Always include Zero Box and Minimum is Auto. But still I'm getting 0 in Vertical Axis Chart in SSRS.
We run 2014 enterprise. I have 3 series being charted on a line (with dots) chart. I know what the series are but to ssrs they are dynamic. One of them really needs a secondary y axis because its a percentage. Is there a way to do this? From what I read if I was to somehow make them less dynamic, then ssrs could treat this one differently. Also, what if I want data point values to show only on this plot but not the other two?
I am using the below expression for hidding the zero data labels in ssrs chart.=IIF(Fields!Name.Value=0,False,True). But this expression is working for some other charts. It is not wrking for only charts. I could not find the solution for that. How to hide the zero values.
Data lables in ssrs reports are getting overlapped in stacked chart. Since it is satcked chart i can't place labels outside the bar.Due to this it is not visible clearly. how to avoid this issue?
I have a chart that I am grouping data by Year, Month, day then Hour (this is to view server performance data) - however i need the label for the hour grouping to be in the format of HH:MM and not H:M by using expression
Is it possible to remove the tick marks that I have circled in red?The chart has data Week by week over a year, and the T1, T2 etc are equivalent to Quarter1, Quarter 2 etcI've got a 3 level grouping, with the top level being Year, then Quarter, then Week. The label for the "Week" grouping is set to blank, and that's why you don't see it here.Removing the Tick marks would make the chart legend more readable in my opinion.
I have a bubble chart created with Report Builder 3.0. I have the Y-axis series is along the left side of the chart. When all X values are positive, everything displays normally. However, if any X-axis values are negative, the whole graph shifts slightly leftward and the Y-axis title is no longer visible. It seems to be overwritten by the shifted graph or simply pushed into nondisplay area.
Is there something I can do to make the chart stay put?
I have created range bar chart and I am not able to achieve the following tasks.
1. Change X-axis Label Format to Quarter:
I have x-axis with dates and y axis of project groups. I have changed x-axis interval type = month and interval=3.
Set the Maximum = Max(ProjectEndDate) and Minimum = Min(ProjectStartDate).
Now my chart showing 3 months x-axis interval dates in mm/dd/yyyy format. I want to change this interval date format to Quarter. The problem is LabelsFormat property is not recognize the "=Q or q or quarter" and also not accepting the expressions. How can I achieve this?
2. Placing series side by side when it is not overlapping
I want to place the same group series side by side only when the previous project end date is less than next project start date, otherwise place the next project to next row. How can I achieve this?
