I have a requirement to display each student Fitness test results in the form of a Box plot chart with High Whisker , Low whisker , Low box,high box , Mean and Median in a stored procedure since test areas are dynamic. But , i have never done this before.

How can do in the SSRS matrix %(Completed/Total) percentage calculation ?
I have a stored procedure (sproc) Â running in Firebird Database. Now I try to use this sproc to build a report in the SSRS 2012 (SSDT) Report Designer.
After I connect to the dataset, and when I choose the Query Type as 'Stored Procedure', and type the name of  my sproc, and then go to the Query Designer, and click ! (F5)  ,  I get the following error:

how to resolve this? If its a T-SQL sproc, then it will be no issue; in this case, Â Firebird database connects to the SSRS via a 32-bit System ODBC connection.
When I proceed and click ok for everything, I get this error (after I exit the Query Designer), in the Dataset Properties tab:
"Could not update a list of fields for the query. Verify that you can connect to the data source and that your query syntax is correct."
The ODBC connection between SSRS and Firebird works fine. In fact I am able to run many queries as ad-hoc ones, Â but when I use the queries as sprocs, then this issue pops up.
how to handle Firebird stored procedures  in SSRS.
I have created a query in which I have used first_value, lead, lag windows functions. I tried using the query in SSRS query text, but for some reason it could not load. Then I created a stored procedure and implemented that query in stored proc.
The problem is that I am able to execute the stoured proc from sql server studio, but SSRS is not able to load data.

I am new to reporting services and I am stuck. I have a report I am trying to design, it has startdate and end date as parameters, I als have a non-queried parameter with the values of month,week,user,hour. These parameter values create a drowndown box on the report, What I am trying to figure out is how to display information in a chart depending on which item is selected i.e (month,week,user etc....). The original report is in access and I am converting it to reporting services, I know there is third party software out there but, I really want to use reporting services.

col 1 (group on Company)
col 2 (group on application)
col 3 (count on id no) // total field (count/idno) // max/idno)
col 4 (graph) as I want this to show line by line (visual statement)
I read you need to put that max field in to help with graph. in the Y axis Max field
Unfortunately I either didn't read it properly or I am doing something really wrong.
My graph is not showing correctly - eg one line has 2 in it and is showing more than a line that has 227.
call id is in data of the graph
company name is in series of the graph

I have some data from SQL server which contains NULL values for certain fields. I have to create a chart with sum of a field. There is no category and series groups, we are just showing the total sum of a field in chart. Since I have NULL in my source data, nothing is displayed in the chart. I cannot exclude this record from dataset as I have to use this record for other charts. I have to do some filtering in the chart area itself. I have given IsNothing() in the filter of chart properties. It does not work for me. Even I tried to give IsNothing() in the exp of  Sum() .

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need some help regarding Custom Colors implementation for Charts in the Reporting Services.
What we are trying to do is to make every color for every Series(see example below) to be a customized Corporate color.
For example each of the series on the Chart should be in specific Custom Color:
Series 1 - "LightBlue"
Series 2 - "LightYellow"
Series 3 - "DarkBrown"
All I found from MSDN is how to do it in the Chart Properties in a Code section (right click on the report outside the chart -> Properties -> Code tab -> paste the Custom Code ).
And then to use it in the Chart color definition as:

But we are trying to do it in a separate C# class that would be updated only in one place, instead of changing 30 reports each time something is changed. So that it could be generic.

I have a report that uses a stored procedure as a dataset.The stored procedure accepts four parameters, which I have defined in the report. works fine in query builder and SSMS.
When I run the report I get an error stating a parameter is missing. I tried deleting parameters and recreating not luck.
I'm looking to build a report that is basically a series of line charts that is plotting a value over time. Â I can accomplish this one chart/dataset at a time, but I believe with 'List's this can be achieved in a more automated fashion.If I have some data similar to this:

I want the charts grouped by the Area_ID, and then each Location_Name is a Series in that chart. Â So in this example, I would end up with 2 charts (Areas 1 & 2), each have 2 series (Area 1: Site1, Site2 and Area 2: Site3, Site4)Is it possible to build this with a list? or do I need to structure the data differently?
I am able to preview my report in Microsoft Visual Studio with a chart embedded at the top of the report. However after uploading the report to Report Manager, the chart is blank. How can I get the chart to be visible in Report Manager? I am using SQL Server 2012 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine. I can see the chart if I edit the report in Report Building in the print layout mode. I can also see the chart in my Microsoft Visual Studio Project.

I am currently migrating several Crystal Reports that have charts. The chart series is set to use the TopN values in a count, and combine the rest of the series into one series titled "Other". I see how to filter the chart using TopN, however I need to still show the rest of the data grouped as "Other". I think the solution I need is to create a group expression that uses some sort of IIF function to create the "Other" group, but I haven't found a function that I can use to get the results I need. Any ideas?

I'm working on a report to show financial transactions from a table over a certain period. For most transactions there is a PDF document that is stored in a separate table in a binairy format. In my report I would like to include a link on every line with transaction information in the report that opens the PDF that is linked to that transaction. Just to be clear, I don't want to embed the PDF in the report but I want the users of the report to have the option to view the PDF that is related to that transaction in their standard pdf reader (adobe).
Code to do the following:
Once a user clicks on the link to view the PDF I need the code to get the binairy data of the PDF file from the table, convert it back to a PDF and open it in the default pdf reader (for example adobe reader). If it can't directly open the file then it's maybe possible to activate the 'open or download' pop up that you also get when you download something from a website.Â
I have a big SQL Stored Procedure which works with a cursor inside of it. During the procedure the data is inserted into a table and at the end is a SELECT statement from that table. The problem is that when i create a dataset with that stored procedure and i run it in the Data tab i get the correct select, but in the Fields section of the Report I don't get the fields from the last SELECT, but the fields from the cursor. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug and how can i fix it.

I need to call a stored procedure to retrieve some data from the bank and use it in a report.
I'm using oracle DB, but I'm not using ODBC, I'm using Oracle.
I can call the SP using 2 commands:
1- in the dataset data form, I can select the command type as Stored Procedure and write the name of my procedure without the arguments, and then the VS ask for the arguments
2- in the same form, the command type as TEXT, i can use the syntax: call <SP name>(arguments)
My problems are:
-in the first way, how can I programatically set the arguments to send?
-in both of them, how can I define that the data that should be stored in the dataset is in the out cursor parameter?

I have stored procedures that will run fine from query analyzer windows, from other programs, etc. When I try to run the sp from vs 2005 form with in a SSRS project, the sp just hangs. It will not return any records and the app says "Not Responding. This does not happen for all SP's only some of them. Any ideas?

I have a report. I need to make a drop-down parameter optional. I've setup the parameter to use a dataset as its source, and I need to allow the value to be null. I've selected allow nulls check box, and I've even tried setting the default value to System.DBNull.Value. But, when the entry is not selected (blank), no data ever comes back. If the data is blank or null, my procedure works (I've tested it). How do I send a null value to the database through reporting services report? I was hoping to avoid creating a special query just for that purpose.

I used a stored procedure in my report. If I run the sp in Management Studio (on my pc, database is on a sql server) it takes only several minutes; but from reporting services (also on pc) I put it in the data tab and execute it, it takes forever, actually never finish. I want to know why it's taking so long to execute it from reporting services while it returns data instantly from Mgt Studio. There is cursor in the sp. I don't know whether this is the culprit. Anyone knows why? Thanks!
