Reporting Services :: Different Headers On Different Pages
Apr 22, 2015I would like to have different headers on different portion of the report?
View 2 RepliesI would like to have different headers on different portion of the report?
View 2 RepliesOk, I'm new to reporting services and I am wondering if this is possible for headers in a table.
I have a stored procedure that returns the text that I want to display as a header in a report. The input parameter is the database field name. I don't want to put the actual field name as the report header, but the text that I derived from passng in the field name.
I figured I could create a dataset with this stored procedure, and put the header text field that the procedure returns in the header column. However, the problem is that I need to use this same field for each header column in my table and pass in the corresponding field name based on the column that I place this field in.
Unfortunately, I don't see a way to reuse this and pass in different parameters per column, it seems like you can only call the procedure once per dataset and not reuse it per column, leaving me with passing in a single field name and getting the same header text for every column in the table.
I may be able to get around this issue by creating a different dataset for each column in the table and passing in the field name for each dataset, but this sounds like a bad way of doing things.
Does anyone have any ideas or knowledge that can help me in my situation? Basically, I need dynamically changing headers based on an input parameter...if there is another way to do this, pleas let me know, thanks.
I achieved to get Fixed number of records per page ....but headers are not repeating in every page.... Is it possible to repeat headers on each page and fixed number of records per page please give me navigation.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHello all,
I am creating a report in SSRS and the data is obtained through a stored procedure. One of the parameters is Begin_Date. This is simply a date field. I need to have it on the Page Header section. However, when I placed it there and ran the report, I received the following error -
Error2[rsFieldInPageSectionExpression] The Value expression for the textbox ‘begindate’ refers to a field. Fields cannot be used in page headers or footers.
Is there a way around? I have never faced such a problem when I created reports in Crystal or ActiveReports. Please let me know whether I am missing anything.
Thanks in advance,
Saurav
Hi all,
Could you tell the correct way to use Reporting Services on ASP.NET pages?
Now I wanna create an ASP.NET page to show some reports, and I hope to control all logic by program, so I need know the API between ASP.NET and Reporting Services.
For example, I wanna pass some data to Reporting Services via API, and then Reporting Services handle the data and return reports to me, and then I can show the reports on my web pages.
Please tell me how?
How can i freeze the headers while exporting the report to excel? will this works in ssrs 2008 / 2008 r2?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy problem is specific to the ReportViewer control. The report displays correctly in every other way (ssrs server viewer, visual studio preview, visual studio 'Run', etc)The aspx page hosting the control has two controls, the reportviewer control (assembly 10.0.0.0), and a scriptmanager control asyncrendering = 'true' and processingmode = 'remote'.So the columns are not 'always visible' with the reportviewer but they are with every other renderer that i've tried.
The report i'm testing is just a simple table with a couple groupings (built using the wizard). To enable the fixed headers I went to the groupings view and changed the "FixedData" property of the first Static member to true per instructions.
I have created a new report & add a table to it. When I select "Tablix Properties" and check on Columns Headers -> "Repeat Cheader columns on each page" the header columns do not repeat on each page. I also tried "Repeat header rows on each page". "Add page break before" seems to work ok. I am using VS 2008 9.0.30729.1 SP..I also tried deploying but it still does not work on the deployed version.

But it is not getting repeated in the subsequent pages...
It is getting displayed only in the first page...
Kindly provide me with a solution to get it repeated in all the pages asap!!!........

I am having a problem with headers printing on separate pages. I have a report in RS 2000 that consists of 4 tables. Each table has several tables embedded within the table. The report has a header and each main table has two headers. The report layout is 11in. x 8.5in. with margins of 0.05in. The view space of the report is 10.2125in. Doing the math, I am withing the bounds of the paper; however, when I export to PDF, the report header and a legend table prints on the first page, the first table header prints on the second page, the second table header prints on the third page, the first data row prints on the fourth page and the rest of the table prints on the next page or several pages as needed. This repeats for the subsequent tables because I have the table property set to Insert page break after this table. I also have Repeat header rows on each page checked. I am at a loss as to why this continues to happen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a large report which profiles a customer and produces many pages consisting of sales records, support calls and emails, etc etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a report which, when exported to word, comes up with only the body of the report visible, and with the protected view warning present in Word 2013. When I enable editing, the header and footers appear correctly. What is happening here, and how do I correct it, if at all? I don't know that my customer is likely to accept having to enable editing to address this.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am  building a report with 3 tablixs using SQL Server 2008. Tablix 3 is long and spans over 3 pages. I am trying to get the header for the  to remain visible on all pages and as we scroll through the end of each page. Now this is a frequently asked question and I have found the approach to achieve the desired results. All approaches involve clicking in the advanced mode of the row and column groups to modify the static and dynamic groups. However, when I click the advanced mode there is no effect. I have attached a picture of the design mode. The tablix3 is grouped by the Department column.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am experimenting with SQL Reporting Services on a machine with SQL Server 2005 loaded and deploying
reports to a different server. both servers are equivalent in resources.
In the browser on the Reports machine when I first go to the Reports address, it takes a very long time
to build and load the page. it then takes a long time for each drilled down page. Subsequent calls to the same
pages are very fast if done within a certain amount of time. This implies that there must be some form of
caching going on and that the cache expires after a period of time. I have seen in the RSReportserver.config
file that there are parameters relating to report caching, but they all appear to reference the actual reports being
generated. My issue is simply being able to build the start page and other navigation more quickly and to
keep it active so it does not have to perform that build each time.
Any information related to managing this situation would be very much appreciated..
Thank you, Ray
I must confess it has been a long time since I have done any SSRS reporting. I have the following SQL Statement (I will change it to a stored Procedure with parameters once I get the design done):
SELECT
rc.wo_id,
rc.process_id,
rc.item_id,
rc.lot_no AS full_lot_no,
rc.oper_id, rc.seq_no,
CAST(la.attr_value AS DECIMAL(12, 2)) AS weight,
[Code] ....
This gives me the data I want which looks like this:
Rework ID             Ingot          Oper ID        Piece        Rework
28Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â xxxxxx14Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â 5Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â M88Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Route 1
55Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â xxxxxxx15Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â 5Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â B106Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Route 2
79Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â xxxxxxx19Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â 5Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â M68Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Route 3

                           xxxxxx234          5                    B82            Route 4
The grouping is on the Rework ID.  Any of the pieces can be put on any rework route. As you can see, there are 4 routes, but 5 pieces.  What I need is for each rework ID to be printed on its own paper even if there is only 1 record for the route. So I would expect 4 pieces of paper, 3 with 1 record, the 4th with two pieces. Is there a setting in the Tablix or report that I can set, or is there an expression I can use?
I wrote a report today containing one grouping. Everything appears all right in the report preview, except that every other page is "blank", i.e., shows only the page header and page footer; all grouping and detail information is missing.Â
The data on the page following the blank page seems to pick up where the previous non-blank page left off, so all information seems to be present within the report. The report width and height properties are typical portrait-style  -- 8.5 x 11 inches. The columns do not "run off the edge" of the report page boundary. I haven't selected any page break for the grouping, as the grouping detail is typically only a few rows long, and would otherwise result in a very large number of pages.Â
It is using a table to display a very large amount of data (a basic list of information) with groups. Each of the groups can span multiple pages, so the user may not realize where the grouping actually began (I am repeating the group headers). Therefore, I would like to modify the group header when it is repeated across multiple pages by simply adding the text, "(cont.)" to the header so the reader can easily see that the group started on a prior page. There does not appear to be any standard test function for this condition. Using Previous() for this case does not work. This cannot be a new issue and must have been solved; any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this has been asked before, I did search the forum but could not find an answer to this question...

Is there a way to overcome this?
I have designed a fairly simple report in report designer that uses an analysis services cube as its input, and a basic matrix object as the primary design component. Cube performance either via object browser in Analysis Services or via connection from Excel is great. It does exactly what you build a cube for, i.e. it builds aggregations you can get to quickly. However rendering from a report designer report within Report Manager is a different story.
Even though this report is being rendered from an execution snapshot, it is painfully slow at opening and closing different levels of drill down. The report does have six levels of drill down, which I am sure is a factor. If I use a smaller dataset, performance does become more acceptable. However, I don't consider the requirements of my report to be all that extraordinary.
My conclusion thus far is that larger data sets with many possible page renderings are not the best candidates for HTML rendered reports. In this case Microsoft's cube analysis add-in to Excel might be a better choice. Thoughts and feedback on either how to improve the rendering speed or other presentation alternatives that would perform better would all be welcome.
I has developed one report in SSRS in SSRS 2008 R2 and when I preview the report in report viewer in all pages Report Header is repeating, whereas when I export the same report to PDF strange for some pages header is missing.
When I searched in google for SSRS 2008 Microsoft agreed that it is a bug and they provided the hotfix. And this hotfix is not working for SSRS 2008 R2 as it is a higher edition but still I facing the same issue.
I am creating a report in SSRS which has the following criteria:
- Row 1 (parent) is 'Product'
- Row 2 (child) is  'Feed'
- Columns are date. Â I have 5 dates showing at any one time across the top. Â The date field is set up as a parameter so depending on the date the user selects, the report will show that date on the end column and then the 4 days prior to that in the other columns. Â Â
 - Data is the number of records.
I have a sub total on the Product and the report is collapsed on Product as default.
What i'm stuck on is trying to insert a column at the very end that will show the variance between the last two dates. Â So the difference between the date the user selected (@date parameter) and the day before that.Â
we are running 2014 enterprise. A couple of column headings (even with smaller font) are a little tall, as much as 6 "lines".   All headings in the respective matrices are aligned vertically as "bottom". When I save the report to excel, these taller headings get chopped off visually in their excel cell.  The cell contains the entire heading. It appears that the second "line" of the heading is the one that is most visible in excel.Â
How do I get these to be saved so user will see entire heading when opening excel doc? In the first matrix there is a text box directly above the matrix and only one row of column headings. In the second there is a higher column group heading containing month name above the problem headings.Â
I have a ssrs report having 2 tables in with 4 columns in each. When I go to export option in preview I can see all data coming in one excel sheet, But I am trying to get 2 tables in 2 different pages in Excel when I export.First page of excel comes with first table data with 4 columns and second page of excel comes with second table data with 4 columns .
View 2 Replies View RelatedHi, this is probably a simple question but I just can't figure it out. I'm using SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 sp1.
I'm trying to design a report that displays a particular embedded image on the first page, and then a different one on every subsequent page. I.e full, fancy company logo on the first page, and a trimmed down version on every other. In Crystal, I would have simply used the Report Header and Page Header sections to achieve this - easy.
However, in SQL Reporting Services, there is only a Page Header section - therefore whatever I place in the Page Header shows on every page. Now, I know how to stop it displaying on the first page, but I don't know how to display the other image instead.
I read in a support forum that it is possible to do this by "placing report items above or below your data regions" but I can't get it to work.
Grateful for any assistance.

in microsoft doc there is written on the topic of BP Extensions with SSD's in SQL Server 2014: only clean pages are written to disk... does this mean data pages that have not been modified yet? or also those data pages that have already been modified, and where log has finished writing and the transaction has been marked as commited??
why are there clean data pages being written to L2 cache to make space for other not modified pages? I mean, shoudnt they be modified first, before letting other unmodified data pages into the Cache? I mean they have still to be modified..that makes no sense to me to page them out and page them in again just for other data pages...
Hello,
I am trying to migrate my reports from SQL server 2000 reporting services 32bit to 2005 64bit. I am following the migration steps that MS specified.
Restored my Reportserver and ReportserverTempDB databases
Then I was using the configure Report services to upgrade these databases but I always end up getting the follwoing exception when I run the upgrade on the "Database Setup" configuration for 'ReportServerTempDB' database
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB'. No entry found with that name. Make sure that the name is entered correctly.

It's driving me crazy, why is it looking for 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB' in the catalog instead of 'ReportServerTempDB'?
Is it possible to migrate from 32bit to 64bit?
Any help is appreciated
Default code page in ETL package is 1252 which will not work if the collation is different e.g in Japanese_CI_AS, it is 932.
My question is how to write a generic ETL package so that it can cater any collation or any code page.
I'm attempting to obtain a cost effective solution for my existing customers to develop reports on their SQL 2000 Server installations using their Reporting Services 2000. With products like Visual Basic.NET 2003 becoming almost impossible to obtain, I have at least one customer who is running into a dead end.
One option possibly is the SQL Express with Advanced Services download, which has Reporting Services. My questions are as follows:
Can the report designer component of SQL Express Reporting Services be configured to connect to an external database (which would happen to be a SQL 2000 database) to establish its datasets?
Does the resultant designed report end up in an RDL file? If the customer published this report via the Reporting Services 2000 Report Manager, would the report be able to run?
Sorry for asking a question like this that I could probably answer on my own, but my customer needed this answer yesterday. I have scoured the web and microsoft sites - and posted a question on the official SQL Reporting Services cateogy ... in an attempt to answer the basic question of how to design reports for Reporting Services 2000 in the absence of Visual Basic.NET 2003 (or other .NET 2003 tools) with no success.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

I work in a big project and we will begin in using reporting services as the base technique for reports and I will be responsible for this part. but I have a problem I will discuss in the following:
Currently: We use currently devexpress reports and we have 2 languages(Arabic and English). the data in tables saved in two ways (Arabic and English). when the end user change the language of the web site the report data language changed when run it.
Example:
we have table with (ID, NAME_AR, NAME_EN, JobTitle_AR, JobTitle_EN). designed report will display(ID, NAME_EN, JobTitle_EN) . but the end user change the language of the system the report will
dispaly(ID, NAME_AR, JobTitle_AR)Â
Hint:this done pragmatically
how to do this in reporting services.
Hi There,
Our DBA has installed reporting services on a server and now in order to access the report manager, one has to be an Admin on that Server. I am guessing that there is a mistake in the configuration of Reporting Services. Usually it should allow anybody who was added to the roles in the properties section of the Report Manager, right? I have also added the users to the DB..
Also I am using Windows Authentication to access Report Catalog items (Reporting Services is installed on Server2) from a web Application(deployed on Server1) and displaying the report using report viewer. For some reason, server1 has to be in an Admin role on Server2 to access the report catalog/report. This is kinda strange for me as I don't want everybody to be an Admin on Server2. Can anybody please point in the right direction?
Thanks.
We have installed SQL Server 2005 with reporting services. When tried to open getting errors as below: how to avoid such errors See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.
