In my report i have more than 10 sub reports each should be displayed when we click on some label but my requirement is to expand all the sub reports at a time or collapse the sub reports.URL.....problem here is it is a genius solution working beautifully in my local machine but in the client server if i click on the Expand/Collapse radio button it is asking for the parameters again.
View 9 RepliesI posted last year about getting and Expand All/Collapse All link working in reports, and it does work perfectly for on-demand reporting. I was able to get these working using the boolean report parameter and then the Jump to Report option going back to itself changing that parameter.
The issue that I have just discovered is that when a report with these Expand All/Collapse All links are in a report snapshot, clicking those links will cause it to re-render the report from the datasource at the time the link is clicked. This is an issue for one of the datasources we are using because the data is always changing, so when it goes back to re-render the counts and data returned are completely different then they were when the snapshot was first created. As time goes on the data will no longer even be in the datasource since it can only maintain 4 months of data.
Is there another way to get all detail groups to expand/collapse at once that does not require the report to be completely re-rendered from the datasource?

I have a report that is grouping phone calls by "Category" (Outgoing, Incoming, Voicemail, etc). When the report is rendered, each category (along with totals) is shown and the details (each actual call) are hidden. Using toggling, I allow the user to burst open any category to view all of the call details.
I join the query for this report so that even if a category has 0 calls for the day, it is still shown. When expand a category with no calls I get a blank record (as I should, because there are no call details).
The question I have is ... Can I have the toggle be conditional? Can I have the ability to toggle thr group only when there are call details? Can I have the + to the left of the category name not be shown?

On one of my reports, the +/- for expand/collapse of groups is reversed -- i.e. when the group is expanded it displays "+" and when the group is collapsed it displays "-". The display of the document map is correct.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I have a db-query that returns quite a few rows which I must show in a table.
At initial load the report only shows the row group heading for the detailed data, and when clicked the detailed data for a group expands.
My problem is that reporting services assumes that when collapsed it should summarize everything in each column and display it.
Here is an illustration of the problem.
First the detailed view of my data (Notice the 5th and 6th rows which are simply the values in the 1st through 4th rows divided into groups - and the "Total" row shows the actual total for Row 1 Group Header:
[-] "Row 1 Group Header" "Detail data 1" "10" "Detail data 2" "10" "Detail data 3" "4" "Detail data 4" "6" "Row 1 group 1" "20" "Row 1 group 2" "10" "Total" "30"
The detailed view is just as I want it - no problems there.
However, when the detailed view is collapsed, reporting services calculates the sum for the column - which is 90 - not 30 as is the actual total:

Is there any way I can redefine the formula/insert filters used for calculating the "collapsed-total" for each column when the row is collapsed? Or maybe simply prevent it from showing a "collapsed-total" altogether? Or can you think of another way to structure the data so the "collapsed-totals" gives me the actual value (30)?
I thought about splitting the values into a column for each data-group, so that I'd have a column for the "Detail data n" values, a 2nd column for the "Row 1 group n" values and a 3rd column for the "Total" values - this would yield correct "collapsed-total" values. But is really a plan B - I really do not want to do that unless it is the only way out of my dilemma.
Is there a way to publish the MDW (Data Collection) reports (Disk Usage history, Query Statistic history, and Server Activity history ) on SSRS server?!
It is not logical for all who wants to view the mentioned reports to open the SSMS !

I have generated an invoice report is SSRS. It works correctly via Report Builder and the viewer. However if I then export the report to PDF, it throws the formatting of the report off.
As I have mentioned, it is an invoice report. If I print 1 invoice, and export it, everything exports correctly and all formatting is retained. However if i print off and export multiple invoices (range of Invoice 1 to 4), the 1st invoice is exported correctly, but all subsequent ones are not. In so far that where 1 invoice should be printed on 2 pages of A4 paper, it is spread over 7 pages.
The header is one page, then 1 row is on the second page, then a blank page, then another set of data on another page etc. Is it a problem with the page/report sizing/margins?

I have a problem with collapsing of groups. It seems that the reports saves the expand/collapse state of groups between renderings ... bug or feature?
In my report I have a dataset which contains some numerical data over time.
The report is designed to show data from a selected month as well as January to selected month.
A parameter is used to select the month.
The presentation looks like the following:
Company total
Department
Employee
Employee
...
Department
Emplyee
...
...
The employees have their initial state set to hidden, with their respective department as toggler.
This works perfectly ... within Visual Studio.
When I deploy this report to my web server strange things happens.
Fx
1) If I expand one department to see the data for the employees for may and then decide to look at data from another month.
2) I change the month parameter and click 'View report' to render the report again.
3) The report renders as it should. All departments are collapsed.
4) If I then expand some other department than before, both the newly selected department and the old one are expanded ... a behavior that is not that practical
It seems that the report saves the expand/collapse state for the groups between renderings. So when I click expand for the second time it expands the one I just clicked and the department which was expanded before rendering.
What to do?
Is there a way to expand/collapse all items in the documentmap ?
I know there is an option DocumentMapCollapsed but this is to collapse/expand the documentmap panel. I would like to control the collapse state of the items into the document map ...

The report which is having images is not working and it just hangs.
The reports which doesn't have any images are working fine.
On top of it some times we are getting the following error message.
Error message : The request failed with HTTP status 503: Server Error.
We couldn't get the report through SSRS deployed URL. We found dead locks in SQL DB end.how to proceed further issue resolution.

I have a report with some groups which can all be expanded/collapsed by clicking on a textbox with an action attached to it.

But I want to hide the row containing this textbox (or the textbox itself) on the actual printed report.
Is there any report item that can tell me if the report is in preview phase, or can it be solved in any other way?

We have one application in banking and they have developer that application using c# and .Net code so For Business Users--when they enter their details and when they want to check Reports--it should take to a another UI or web page where Users will see all the reports--- and clicking the report he/she should be get able to export it into different formats..
i know that we can give report manager URL--but due to various issues-- we have choosen to built a web[age where they can see the reports work-flow:
so--user opens bank site--enters his details-goes into reports--it should open new webpage or UI, he should see all reports--he should export these reports..
After that based upon security levels each user can see their individual reports.
I have a Daily Invoice Report that has subscriptions for all customers and is run every night. The report has parameters of @date & @Customer. We had issues with invoices not being sent due to the Owner on the reports was disabled in Active Directory. We do not know how many reports did not get sent out so I am tasked with creating a script to rerun the reports for each day in August. I have queried the subscriptions, but need to figure out how to rerun the reports using the existing parameters set in the subscription, increment the report parameter date, and execute the emailing of the report.
Here is my query that gives me all the subscription information, but how do I rerun the job for all subscriptions for each date in August?

How to manage the progression of SSRS reports from DEV > TEST > USER > PROD...I can see that you COULD manage this all from within VS however then all the control is in the developers hands and even though you can control access with permissions and stuff, its not very user friendly to provide a tester or business area manager or project manager with VS just so they can publish reports as they are approved.Are their any such tools to manage migration between ssrs servers or something that you could have a user test a report and then do something like "approve/promote" it to the next environment, or is this something we would need to create ourselves?
I can see that there are a few things that allow PROJECTS to be migrated (powershell scripts and something about octopus deploy) but these all seem to be too "big" for our organisation - we generally develop reports as a "logical group" (project) but migrate them individually or in VERY small groups (5 is probably the maximum), however keeping tabs on what report is at what version in what environment is causing our DBA massive migranes...Maybe there is something we can do from TFS or perhaps we need to build a utility app?
has anyone out there found a way to get the best of both recursive hierarchy and drill down in the same report, ie without needing to know how many levels there are in your hierarchy, still being able to report them like a tree view with collapse and expand capability at each level?

Row groups: Facility --> Category Type --> Category
Column groups --> year, quarter, month
I want to be able to programmatically update the table content if Category rows are not visible (Category Type row group is collapsed).

In SSRS 2014 std (on a win 2012 server) the report controls display incorrectly in IE11. The save and several other features display on multiple lines instead of one line unless you are in capability mode.Also works fine on SSRS 2014 entr on win 2012 server.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have 6 SSRS reports for account receivable module. All of these 6 reports are for one specific business requirement. The difference between these reports are layout, number of columns and styles. I want user to choose one from these 6 reports based on their requirement.
When user clicks the menu in their application to initiate the report, Is there any way that the SSRS show list of these reports in a window so that user can choose one of them?
As I am working on a 3rd party ERP application, I cannot provide a form or window in that ERP to choose one report out of these 6 reports. I believe that there is a way to do this in Crystal report, but do not know how to do this in SSRS.
Is there a known problem with BIS Deploy not clearing cache. I repeatly (but not always) have an issue where I will do a BIS Deploy of an RDL but when I run it, the old report runs. I can't clear this out until I explicitly log into the Report Manager and explicitly delete the RDL and re-deploy from the BIS.
Is there a workaround, fix, process change, configuration change I can do to keep this from happening?
In SSRS reports i have multiple charts and tables. per page i have to display one chart and one table. How to put page break after the chart and table. I have not used rectangle. I created all the charts and tables in the body area.

A month ago we deployed a report (rdl file) in SharePoint, but the person who deployed it was no longer connected with us. So we decided to deactivate it in our Active Directory. Yesterday, our users returned issues regarding they are unable to access their report. I believe the issue was "object reference not set to an instance of an object".
So I tried to download the rdl file and redeployed it but i am getting error upon deploying to SharePoint. My workaround is to delete the rdl file in SharePoint, redeploy the shared datasource and shared datasets and the rdl file. It went and was now able to run the report in SharePoint.
Is there something relation/happened when deactivating the account in AD that users unable to access the report in SharePoint?
I have published SSRS reports to sharepoint and used the Reporting Services Report viewer to present the reports on a Page. Everything works fine for the day, however in the morning, when I go to view the page, I get an error message
The report server cannot process the report. The data source connection information has been deleted. (rsInvalidDataSourceReference)
I have created a custom library(CodeLibrary) which internally references the dlls Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client and Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Client.
I added this custom Dll codelibrary.dll to my SSRS report. and the expression of one of the field as
=codelibrary.codefunction.GetValue(1000)
codefunction is the class and GetValue is the method.
When I preview the report, I get the error "Error while loading code module:
'CodeLibrary,Version=1.0.0.0,Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=null'. Could not load file or assembly 'CodeLibrary,Version1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."

I have tested the custom library with a WPF application and it works fine.
I am not able to figure out what is causing this error.
I need to expand my page width and height. The report designer and report viewer allows me to do that. The expanded page does not export to the PDF Format. I am stuck width 6 1/4 x 8/12 for the PDF format. I am using the windows report viewer.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried creating one simple bar chart report in SSRS, with background fill with pattern "UpwardDiagonal", the stripes on the column when viewed insider report viewer control is quite prominently visible, whereas when exporting the same report to PDF the lines are very thin and dense and hence makes it very difficult to differentiate between one column with pattern inside and one without. I have even tried various other pattern like "LightUpwardDiagonal" and "WideUpwardDiagonal" but all have same result when exported to PDF.why?
